- [Jess] Hi, where Stephen, Jess, and baby Hunter, and this past week, we took a break from building our van into our new home on wheels to fly over to South Australia for a little family break. In part one, we headed five hours north to the Flinders Ranges to see the colors of the Aussie outback, chartered a small flight, and watched the sunset. As we've slowly become obsessed with the ins and outs of having a tiny home, we couldn't help ourselves and had to book one out here in the McLaren Vale wine region of South Australia. - Before the video begins, we just wanted to say a massive thank you to Omaze for partnering up with us on this video to give one of you guys an incredible dream Canadian Rockies trip. Stay tuned for more details later on in the video. So we came across this couple in South Australia that have been building off-grid self-contained tiny homes all over the country, and we just instantly went to book one, but because what's going on in the world, every Aussie's out there exploring, and they were pretty much booked out for two to three months. So we emailed them and said, hey, if you have any last minute cancellations, please send us an email, we'd love to book one. And we got the perfect response. - They said that they've been working on a brand new cabin, and it might be ready by Thursday, no guarantees. - Well, guess what? It's Thursday, and I think we're gonna be their very first guests. I don't think we've been the first guests of anything. (upbeat music) ♪ Well I have bought fire and I've bought ice ♪ ♪ I've sold myself and I've sold lies ♪ ♪ And I've walked these streets I know these roads ♪ ♪ I know the beat they'd tell you so ♪ - So the car park is a little bit far away from the cabin, so they provide these little wheelbarrows to take all your heavy luggage. (country music) So, this is Mila. She's an off the grid, self-contained tiny home situated right here in the middle of a winery, surrounded by Aussie gumtrees. - [Stephen] Twin sister to Bella, which is just 150 meters away, this cozy, almost shipping container inspired tiny home sleeps four people, a couple on the queen bed, and two in the bunks. - All right, this is our first time seeing it too, so I'm very excited. Oh my gosh, from the outside, I did not expect. There's even a kitchen. Oh my gosh, so right here is our big queen-sized bed, and look at the view that we're gonna wake up to tomorrow. This is so amazing. And then we've got two bunk beds here. It even looks like they were able to fit a full kitchen in here. We have a stove top, a massive sink, and even a fridge. And in the back of the cabin, they have a shower, a toilet, and a sink, but I think my favorite bit of this tiny cabin has to be this lookout bar. It looks like you can open up the entire window and look out over the winery. And if it gets chilly at night, we also have a little fire here. - So in summer, they have air con to keep this cool, but in the winter, especially as we're coming into autumn, they have the cutest little small fire, which I think we're definitely gonna be using tonight. I definitely think raising the roof to fit the bunks in makes this place feel so spacious. They've also added some sneaky storage inside here, and I see they've also left us some board games. So as we were saying, this place is completely self-sustainable, off the grid. There's solar panels onsite to run our electricity, and our water is all rainwater. So if you have a look just here, it's a gigantic tank. This gigantic tank is gonna be for our showers, for our taps, for our water supply, and it's also a gas heater and they say the gas heater gives us about five minutes of hot showers, so between the three of us, it's like a two minute max shower that we get out of this. (slow tempo music) ♪ These years the shadows grow again ♪ ♪ Yes it weights me down ♪ - I suppose for you, this isn't a tiny home, is it? This is a big home. Yah! How amazing is this that we can just wake up, and we're just surrounded by the wineries? We woke up from her, and sunrise, which, can't complain about. So Stephen opened up the window, and just out look over the most beautiful sunrise. - Alrighty, Jess cooked dinner last night, so I think it is Chef Stephen's turn, minus the hat, to cook breakfast for everybody. (upbeat music) Lid must be open, open the cylinder valve, push and turn the control knob counterclockwise. - [Jess] You need to push it in probably. - Oh, woo! - [Jess] Chef Steve did it. (Stephen clanging barbecue) (upbeat music) (Stephen cracks egg) - [Stephen] Chef Stephen forgot his chef hat, but I think the little princess deserves to get breakfast first. (Jess gasps and laughs) - Yum! So we just popped Hunter down for a nap. Breakfast is now served, and we thought we were gonna have, you know, a little romantic breakfast together, but, a bunch of little sheep has decided to gatecrash our little breakfast. - You honestly sometimes forget how quiet the world can get. We've been, I suppose, in the last year at home in Perth, kind of in the city, and then you come out here, and all we can hear is the sheep, the birds, the magpies, and just nature. It's actually really cool to come out here. It's just getting us more and more excited for when our van is done so we can just travel around and find cool and unique places like this, and just really see our home country. - The little one has woken up, and I know she won't want to miss out on the opportunity to meet a couple of sheep, huh? So Hunter, you need to learn a sheep goes baa! Can you say baa? Still has like lines on her face from her napping. There's the sheep are, look! - [Stephen] I know Dad's cool, but look what's in front of you. - Now, the sheep might be a little bit scared of us, actually. - I can definitely see why people do this. Honestly, I could easily just stay here for a week, lock off, switch off my phone, enjoy just chilling out here, going to the wineries, and just relaxing. That was so much fun. So amazing one of our favorite partners, because they give you guys the incredible opportunities to do amazing things. Like last year, we gave away a trip on the Venice Simplon Orient-Express, which Sharina won, and also are giving away a Sprinter van and a trip to Fiji. So when Omaze saw we went on an unforgettable trip through the Canadian Rockies early last year, they thought this would be an amazing opportunity to allow you guys to live out your dream Canadian Rockies trip. So one of you will be flown out for a week long adventure in the Canadian Rockies, and the best bit is you get to design the trip, whether you want to follow along in our footsteps, like stay at the Fairmont in Banff on Lake Louise, or the Jasper Park Lodge, plus you'll get $5,000 in spending money for food and activities. So each donation supports a great cause, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants more than 300,000 families and children with their wishes. And this place is pretty cool, 'cause it's actually made by a couple who drove around Australia for two years in a van, and then they came back home and opened up a little winery of their own, and it is so beautiful. - [Stephen] Oh, that is so cool. - This is so cool, wow. - Something really unique about this winery is that they've got this double decker bus, I think it was from Glasgow, and then they have converted it into this little wine tasting area. This looks amazing. - [Stephen] Look, I could do wine if it's done in here, this is really cool. - Oh my gosh, it looks so beautiful. Wow. - [Stephen] Imagine taking this, and converting this, and driving around Australia. - It'd be pretty cool. (slow tempo music) (Stephen stirring coffee) - [Stephen] Yes, I know we're at a winery, but, coffee? - Had to be done. So if you come down, they do lunch platters. It looks so delicious. I'm grabbing some, Steve. - I think it's falafel. When you're at that age when you don't realize there's a jungle gym, so instead, you just love the table. All right, we've got to have some fruit between playing. What do you think? I think Hunter prefers the platter more than we do. She is a little bit obsessed. (slow tempo music) - So we've heard that the Fleurieu Peninsula has some of the best beaches, so we thought we only have a few days left here, why not book at Airbnb right on the beach? And as you can see, the ocean is just across the road. We've decided to spend the next two days, checking out some of the best beaches here in South Australia. - So Jess normally books all the accommodation on our trips, and she said to me, hey, we've got a couple of days. I booked a beachy Airbnb, but I wasn't expecting it to be right on the beach. I love this view, Hunter loves it, but I don't think it's because of the house. She found where all the toys were kept. (upbeat music) ♪ If there's anything that can make a man ♪ ♪ Just about to lose his mind ♪ ♪ Baby you got it ♪ ♪ Baby you got it ♪ ♪ And if there's anything that a man can ♪ ♪ Baby you got it ♪ - So I've just put Hunter to sleep, and we've decided to make a little platter for dinner. And this place also has a fireplace. Today is actually, did you know this? It's officially the end of summer. Today's the first day of autumn here in Australia. So we've decided after this-- - Is it? - Yes. - Wow. - First of March. So we've decided that we're going to put on the fireplace and watch a movie tonight. - [Stephen] I can't believe summer is over. - [Jess] Yeah, summer is over. - Where did that go? (Stephen closes door) Just woke up. The sun has not awoken yet, and it's such beautiful colors. It's all the colors that you'd expect at a candy floss store. It is just, wow. I think because we haven't been at the beach for sunrise for so long, 'cause there's been 5:00 a.m. in WA, but seeing as it's 7:00 a.m. here in South Australia, this is a good start in the morning. Have you come to check out the morning light as well, bubs? All right madam, are we ready for another full day of adventures? Yeah? You can bring your mirror friend along if you want. Yeah. Yeah? (slow tempo music) - So, so many of you told us how unique the coastline is here, and you guys are right. We spent the afternoon driving along the coast and oh my goodness, it almost felt like we were back in Greece or something. It looks so different to what we have back at home. And then for sunset, I found this place called Port Willunga, and they have these little caves on the beach to watch the sunset, and we're currently in one of those caves. And now come to think of it, I actually have no idea why they're here. There are about six or seven along, like carved into the limestone cliffs, looking out at one of the calmest flattest beaches. I don't know if it's always like this, but it is so beautiful. A monkey here is loving it. - [Stephen] This is what I'm dealing with at the moment. Hello! - Hunter, are you in a cave? Pretty cool, huh? - So we're having a quick Google, and we found out that the local fishermen kind of carved out these caves, and they used to store their boats, fishing rods, catches of the day, and now it makes for a pretty cool sunset spot. - So I hope you guys enjoyed this little two part series here in South Australia.
