you who are here those of you who are sharing with us online god bless you we're encouraged by your presence today and believe me our god has something in store just for you we're looking for him to do a great thing just because we showed up and the promise that he gave us is where two or three would gather in his name he promised that he's already here oh okay you miss your shouting moment he's already here that means we don't have to conjure him up we don't have to push him to come we don't have to ask him to come he's already here and if he's here that means he brought everything that he has with him all we have to do is by faith get in touch with him let's do that today and give him glory for what he has done amen amen come on singers give us something and we're going to go on and do all right um these are your sunday morning announcements every monday evening our men's fellowship gathers they are doing a study on the one another's that is monday evenings at 7 00 p.m using go-to meeting all men are encouraged to participate in that gathering this tuesday is the first tuesday of the month which means the deaconess hosts the women's gathering they are doing a study on the disciples using google meet so that's this tuesday at 7 00 pm so monday are the men tuesday are the ladies 7 p.m for both google meet for the ladies go to meeting for the men every wednesday night is our shiloh study hour pastor has been doing a study on the holy spirit you don't want to miss out on that that is on our youtube channel and our facebook page 7 p.m shiloh study hour make sure you are subscribed to our youtube channel make sure you follow us and like us on facebook in order to get the notifications for all of those video postings on saturday morning at 7 00 am that is the time where we gather together in prayer on our saturday morning prayer call 7 a.m on saturday mornings you can call in everyone is encouraged to call in and then at 9 00 a.m our walking group under the direction of sister andrea mcfarland go to the south side middle school to walk around the track so seven we pray nine we walk that is every saturday morning um let's see what's next oh on september 19th at 3 p.m we are having a memorial service to celebrate the lives of those who have gone home to be with the lord during this pandemic season so please register if you want to attend that event in person um it will also be live streaming if you you know don't want to come into the building but if you do plan on coming into the building please register also if you have someone that has passed away that you want to be um memorialized at that service please send a picture and their name to our you could submit it through our website or you can email us at sbcrvcny gmail please send us a picture and their name so they can be included in that there are multiple ways to give here at shiloh you can give using our cash app you can go to our website and pay via paypal or you can call the church office to arrange special pick up and drop off um while if you're here today you can see one of our trustees and give your offering that way and i believe that's everything that i have for would be mindful to govern yourselves accordingly and um we can move forward as the lord gives us instruction now on tomorrow because it's labor day uh and monday the men will not be meeting on tomorrow evening at seven we're going to take a break and then the following monday we'll pick up again at 7 p.m uh with one another so we want to encourage all of our men to be here i also want to encourage our the ladies of our church all the women of the please tune in to the women's gathering on tuesday evening uh this week um very very exciting study of the disciples that the women are going through as sister washington and the deaconess um are giving instruction and um moving forward with that and it's a blessing uh once again my ears have been a tune and i've been listening in and it's been absolutely fantastic the way that they are dissecting the scripture and putting things together i want to encourage all the ladies of our church to be a part of that gathering on tuesday evening at 7 7 p.m all right all right now a couple of things um we're going to uh just share with you real quick um along with those announcements uh i want to emphasize uh to you the memorial service which will be here at the church 3 p.m on september the 19th um it's very important that we have this service um the goal is not to stir up emotions and you know cause you to go through more than you've already been through in light of uh what you may have had to deal with as a result of someone passing it's not the point um funeral services are important and i've been doing this now for years but i confess to you that i did not recognize or realize just how significant funeral services were until we couldn't have them last year and the ones that were being held were limited and very restrictive and for the most part families did not have full closure and one of the purposes of the funeral is to begin the process of closure and so i want to encourage you to come to the memorial service it's not going to be a funeral service but what it will do is we'll unite our hearts together around the same common issue and bring us together so that we can love on each other pray for each other up close and personal and some of you will say i have been praying um for you and of course on our saturday gatherings we pray for those that we know about and we have done that but there's something about coming together and being together as a body over one common issue so we want to do that on september 19th at 3 p.m um and uh we're gonna see what the lord does for us as a result of that all right we want to remember with joy we want to remember with joy amen it is a celebration amen it's a cell a celebration and we're going to remember with joy all right okay that's september the 19th um and i believe that's all i'm supposed to say to you today i think that's enough um i want to talk about this thing uh but um okay so um what is it what is it ruku roku what is it roku roku tv so let me stand up so we found out last week that um bishop andy luter from the hollywood church in um amityville thank you david in emilyville um who has been very helpful in making shiloh available to radio audiences through the internet they have a internet radio format and we've been on that for over a year now um well about two months ago they expanded their outreach and now they have church talk radio and television and because we were um our church was um kind of uh you know in the beginning of their getting things started we hooked up with them and became a part of what they were doing they had taken our video broadcasts our live stream services and they have placed them on their rook what is it roku tv channel so we've been on television for the last month or so on sundays at six in the morning what is it five in the morning five a.m and five p.m twice on sundays and that's been over a month now so um they have been broadcast and they're going to continue to do so we met with them officially last week and they're going to continue to broadcast our services um on ruku roku tv y'all know better than i don't you know what i'm talking about chartered to my head my heart you're not my understanding i don't know all right i don't know none of that stuff that's why that's why these people all around that's why i'm married smart amen amen amen because i don't know nothing about this stuff but they do and if you surround yourself with people who know you'll be all right all right amen so we on roku we on tv y'all yeah we on tv so uh they take the um the live stream they pick it up like today they'll get this and then next sunday this broadcast will be on the channel all right so that's how they operate so let's pray for bishop lutheran and church talk television and radio and let's see what the lord's gonna do with that great things ahead amen better things ahead that's what we're looking for all right okay now the um singers and are going to come back and share with us our music um but i want to pray for the backpacks that have been collected and we're prepared to give out let us pray father we do thank you for what you have done and we ask that you sanctify now these backpacks for your honor glory and that they would be a blessing to those who use them and that you would cause them to remember that it is you that made the way and mouth the meditations of my heart that you would get glory out of everything that is said and done and jesus will praise you forever for you alone are worthy in jesus name we pray amen can you all hear me can you hear me can you hear me okay all right um romans chapter 5. verse 1 the book of romans chapter 5 and verse 1. as you're turning and finding our text for today let me just remind you that we're also going to have a little meal a little fellowship meal after service today as well you're also welcome to you're welcome to hang around for that um and if you're concerned about perhaps the clouds gathering amen we'll move it inside amen that's right we have options so we are grateful to the lord for that romans chapter 5 and um and verse 1. romans chapter 5 and verse 1. if you have it would you say amen let's read together together come on therefore being by faith we have through our okay i really wish that y'all were interested i wish you all were interested i want to talk around the thought you ought to appreciate it or in the words of my dad if he's done something for you you ought to be glad about it i am i remember i was about five six years old way back then and uh and um i learned this lesson in my daddy's house my father was the one who actually helped me uh learn how to read i was off when i finally landed in school i was way ahead of all of the my student body in the area of reading because my father taught me to read very very young and he used two instruments [Music] to learn to help me learn and that was the bible and oddly enough comic books so what my dad would do was he would work and wherever he was working he would find um drugstore in those days the drugstores had comic books in boxes and on the weekends he would swing by the drugstore on the way home grab a couple comic books come home and give them to me so i'd gotten so comfortable with receiving those things from him that um when he would come in i'd be waiting for it and when he'd walk through the door put in my hand i'd snatch it and run to the room and start reading it so i did that a few times and then one friday he came home he brought the comics and he put them in my hands and i and i started turning one off and he stopped me he made me come back and he said do you appreciate me giving you these books and i said yes sir he said then tell me that tell me that and i said i appreciate you giving me these but he said say thank you that'd be sufficient and i grew up understanding the importance a thank you when someone does something for you especially something that you didn't expect and something that you know you don't deserve at the very least you ought to be able to say thank you therefore being justified by faith we have peace with god through our lord jesus christ in this passage the apostle paul does something that is very very important and that is he wants the readers and us to understand that god did something on our behalf so that things will be okay between us and him now fundamentally the problem is is that god made man and man showed his appreciation by disobeying god's will and in disobeying god's will he offended god and the offense was due to the fact that he showed no appreciation whatsoever in disobeying him so god is offended god is offended because he has showered men and gave men and provided for men and gave us all that we have ever needed wanted make sure that it was here for us and man offended him and from the moment of that offense that man and woman passed on to all of their children their nature and as a result of our being tied to them we were all brought under that cloud of offense now you say that's unfair well actually what's not fair is the fact that god didn't just take them out all together when they messed up which meant that none of us would be here in the first place so if you want to talk about what's fair we got to be careful with that because if if we ever got what we deserved then none of us would be here we we'd all be gone um so here we are and come into the world and functioning under this cloud of offense and if the truth be told if we ever just kind of slowed down a minute and thought about it and got honest the reality is is that we all know that we've offended god to okay i have i i've offended him i've offended him i've i have offended him at every waking moment of my life i've offended him i i have i have offenses lined up against me that would send me straight to the lake of fire without any conversation with any consolation whatsoever straight there you know do not pass gold don't collect 200 just go straight to and i'm going to say it out here you understand what i'm saying we've all offended him and i've got evidence because the word is all have sinned and come short of the glory of god and that is we have come short of that which god requires we've come short we fall short of that which god requires and he has every right to let us stay in that state because he's the one that's been offended but paul says that mercy and grace romans chapters four and five came together and pushed god watch this push god to the point where he could not allow his justice and his righteousness to just break loose on grace and mercy held justice and held his right back and listen caused him to make provision for those he loved and beloved i'm here to report to you you and i are here today because we are the recipients of that act of love watch this here it is he has every right to take us out he has every right to wipe us out he has every right to do it because he has been offended listen the creator of the universe has been offended but the creator of the universe will not allow his offense to control the choices that he makes because long before we came along he made another choice and that choice was to save us and redeem us in spite of our failure and as a result of that choice paul says we have been justified by faith if i had three minutes i would tell you that to be justified means that god listen to this declares you and i all right nah it doesn't it don't it don't it don't it don't mean much to you it don't mean much to you listen to be justified says that god says you and i are all right now it may not catch you know may not hit you where it needs to right now but just let me add this real quick if god says that you're all right add this to that point if god be for us if god be for us who can be against us here's the promise here's the promise he says i declare that you are all right and as a result of that declaration you and i are now at peace [Music] no literally what it means is i don't hold the offense against you anymore it's gone whatever it was that offended me is now settled it's now gone it is listen it is as if it never existed in the first place that's how clear and how powerful this justification this act of being justified is from god's side of the equation he declares you and i all right watch this and then chooses to treat us as if we never sinned we have peace with him things are are are well things are things are good um because we're at peace that means that he can now bless me in areas that i need him to bless me and and he can work in my life in in ways that i need him to work in fact um he's he's free now to operate on our behalf just because he says we're all right now um that also means that according to verse two verse three the verses that are connected to this statement in verse one we now have access here it is on the one hand god is free to bless us but then on the other hand we are now free to go ask him to bless us and watch this and the act of justification puts god in the position where he has to watch this he has to listen to our prayer no y'all ain't with me he has to listen to our prayer and he has to listen to our prayer because he put himself in the position to listen jesus says when you are going through a situation here's what you ought to do you ought to call out to your father since he is your father and say our father which art listen and the reason why he makes that kind of proclamation is because he wants us to understand that the god of heaven is now available to hear our prayer and he's available to hear our prayers because he makes himself available to hear our prayers now again that doesn't do anything for you if you don't pray it don't help you at all if you don't pray but but but if i could find three or four of you in here who have ever prayed come on no no no no no i know we're outside but i need some witnesses here because we got to testify this thing we know that prayer works and we know that prayer works because there's a god on the other side of the prayer whose ears are bent in our direction he hears us because he has committed himself to hear us and that kind of access is the result is the result of being justified by faith and now having peace with god now here's the deal there's another benefit and i'm gonna i'm gonna leave you alone no i'm not see how quickly i had to change that i was out lying forgive me watch because we are now at peace with god the text says that we also have access to him but there's another benefit and i'm gonna leave it alone and that is we now are in the position to have the peace of god because we are at peace with god we are now in a position to have the peace of god what does that mean here's what it means beloved god has made himself so available to us that he now offers his peace to be a part of our very being in other words being at peace with god is the position of being in a position of settled offense gone everything removed sin forgiven and all of that but the peace of god is the result of that being at peace with god in other words what god says now is is because the offense is removed i am now free to move into your life in such a way that you can now experience my peace on a personal level the peace of god now the reason why i'm emphasizing and i'm kind of carrying here just for a minute before i close it because i want us to grab a hold of this the peace of god is that state of being that says i don't care what is happening around me nothing is going to move me okay now um i believe i've given you this illustration before some years ago but just as a reminder because it applies in this particular situation what is the peace of god okay so um um um when i was coming along as a kid my dad worked construction and uh one of the things in terms of our conversations about his work and what he was doing well he would talk about you know buildings and houses and all the stuff and he said that you know you know you live in a house and you kind of get everything in the benefits what have you he said but what you don't understand is that um when they're putting the house up what contractors do is they line the house with insulin not insulin insulation insulin insulin insulation insulin yeah insulation they they they load the house the walls and all around with insulation and then they put up the you know sheet rock whatever it is and and they packed the house up though with this insulation there it's all over it's all over it's all over and so when we finish the conversation one thing that he helped me understand is is that um insulation does nothing to control the weather it has absolutely no power to stop the rain the snow the wind the temperature it has no control whatsoever that but here's what insulation does insulation fixes it so that no matter what's going on on the outside the people that live on the inside are not affected by whatever the weather's doing on the outside come on somebody inside the house you feel safe mark that word inside the house you feel protected inside the house you are only experiencing the things that are directly connected to the house on the inside that is the heat in the winter cool air in the summer come on somebody electricity flowing everything going on what's going listen because the insulation is there to keep you safe from the elements and the things that are going on on the outside that's the peace of god god comes into our lives not to stop the storms that are coming not to keep your enemies from talking not to keep you from having trouble or problems or difficulty that's not the reason why he's there the reason why listen to me the truth of the matter is is that all the things that happen that we say are bad for us actually turn out for our good because through those storms and those difficulties and those pains and those problems and those problem people that we learn to grow and be more than we will ever be on our own so before you start cursing the stuff that's going on around you be careful because some of this stuff is allowed by god for the purpose of our personal development watch this so he doesn't stop them from doing he doesn't stop that from happening but here's what he does he makes sure that down on the inside where you really live where you really are you experience a level of peace that passes all understanding you don't know why you so cool when everything is hot around you you don't know why you feel comfortable when everybody's talking trash around you you don't know why since you don't know why it is you still got your head up after a year of a pandemic it blows your mind and the reason why it blows your mind is because it's otherworldly it comes from a living god it's offered to us by a living god and it does not originate with you and i but when everything is said and done you the coolest head in the room and everybody else has flipped out running up running them up and down the wall trying to figure out what you're going to do next and you're saying my next step is my first step i will trust in the lord this is where i've landed and this is where i stay because i found his peace to be enough in the midst of it all so i want the pandemic to be over i want this thing to stop but if it doesn't i have no fear because the god who saved us has provided his peace for us and when everything is said and done we will land exactly where he ordains us to be come on let's praise his name let's give him glory let's give him glory let's pray father thank you so much for your word today for how faithful you've been how good you are we ask you now to sanctify your word to the hearts of the hearers and those who don't know you lord god we pray that you draw them to yourself in this moment and we'll be careful to give you honor for you alone are worthy we do love you and appreciate you so very very much because you're god all by yourself be exalted now in jesus name amen i'm going to ask the saints of god who are present in lieu of an invitation you become the invitation look around you if you see someone you don't know look around you you see someone that's new or unfamiliar whatever go up to them ask them have they made a decision for christ show them your love and let the lord work through you into their lives amen all right that was weak but amen now it is the lord's supper today we celebrate our lord and his supper and we want to take time now to share in our moment of communion does everyone have if you don't have raise your hand please if you don't have raise your hand [Music] let me see what he did victor no number three get that box from your father and go on this side for me please yeah we need some young blood here anyone on my my left who has not received communion would you raise your hand please just in case we need some help on this side where are we going everybody all right so [Music] this represents the body of our lord [Music] let us all eat together [Music] this represents the blood of our lord let us all drink together let us pray father we thank you so much for your precious gift thank you for the body and blood of our lord and we thank you for this moment that we've shared together we asked your father that in our hearts and minds you would settle these issues of your provision and we'll be careful to give you praise glory forever you alone are worthy in jesus name amen amen now i'm going to pray one more time then we're going to be done uh we want to encourage those of you who are here in school and need a backpack we're going to encourage you to please make your way to the back and they're going to make sure you get one and then i'm going to invite you all to please come and partake of the meal eat everything you see um amen there's plenty over there we want to encourage you to do that all right one last prayer time father sanctify the food that has been prepared and bless those who prepared it dear father we pray that you will draw them to you as well work your miracle in our midst and we'll bless and praise you
