(pop music) - Hello, friends and
welcome to another video. This week we're gonna be
moving across the country. That's right, it's all happening. We've packed up our house. We've rented a van and we're going. Now, as I mentioned in my blog
post a couple of months ago. Never thought I would utter that sentence in my lifetime but I guess
I write blog posts now. We've been wanting to
move for a while now, for quite a lot of reasons, to be honest. And I'm not gonna dive
into all of them now, but the general gist of it is that we're pretty far away from family and support systems out here in LA. We're not doing so great
out here right now. And we've been needing a fresh start and a chance to rebuild our business from scratch for a while. We've been putting it off
for the last few months, because we've been trying to edit some of the videos that
we filmed this summer, but the going is slow. We're not really getting anywhere, and I think that putting that obstacle in between us and getting a fresh start is actually making things worse. So we're putting our footage on our giant hard drive and we are going - Like a glove. - This is not a jellyfish ad. - Or a Chrysler ad. - Or a Bath and Body Works ad. - It's a little bit of that. - So there's a lot going on right now. Oh my God. Over the last few days we've decluttered a lot
of stuff in our house. How did we even get this much stuff? Props and personal items. - [Tyler] Lift with your legs. - I feel like that turtle
having sex with a boot. (laughing)
(screaming) - [Tyler] Now you sound like him. - And we've also done a lot of packing. - [Tyler] What is going on here? - Which we decided not to film because there was a lot to pack. - [Tyler] Damn, that is saran wrapped. - [Safiya] We'll see how
much survives the trip. (laughing) And filming a task usually makes it take like two to three times longer
than it would normally take. So we just packed. - [Tyler] That's close enough. I'm like the wicked witch of the East. - [Safiya] You kind of are. And so now we just have a
few little things left to do before we get in our van and drive. - [Tyler] Hell yeah. - [Safiya] So yeah,
welcome to our moving vlog. - Welcome to my crib. - [Safiya] There's a lot happening. It's all happening very fast. And I have a lot of feelings. No, I do not go here. Okay, so we are a few days
out from actually leaving, and we have a couple of
small random tasks to finish. The first one is that we have to clear out our freezer of old
wedding cake and Franken cake. - Whew, cheers!
- Cheers. - That is over a year old at this point, and has been in the freezer
for that amount of time. - You know, I just re watch this video, so I know what to avoid. - [Safiya] I don't know
how it's going to taste, but we're going to as much as we can, and then respectfully move on. - The frosting's a little rank. - I think that it's actually
lost most of its flavor. So now it's just sweet, plus
saran wrap, plus freezer juice. - Yeah, I'm tasting some freezer juice. (laughing) - We also have to retrieve
our dried wedding flowers that I shoved into some random books. Also about a year ago.
(laughing) I don't know how they're
going to turn out. I have no experience pressing flowers. I basically just did it in a panic after I realized I
didn't want to throw away all of our wedding flowers. - [Tyler] Impulse mummification. - Impulse mummification, yes eh? Oh, they're cute! - [Tyler] That worked a lot better than I thought it was going to. - [Safiya] Me too. We could totally craft with these. Oh man, we missed our dollar off a handcrafted beverage
at Barnes and Noble. (laughing)
Oops. Then we have to close up
our pod, which is very full. Why is it so protruding?
(laughing) - I don't know. - And then pack up our van. - [Tyler] Mini van! - Is this what we wanted? - [Tyler] This is our Lambo. - Now there are two questions
that I think we should answer really quick before we go. First off, where are we going? Now our true final destination is still yet to be decided but we will certainly show you guys when we settle upon it. But currently our landing pad destination is Tyler's parents house in Philadelphia. So our road trip we are
about to embark upon is gonna be the casual 3000 mile, 40 hour trip East from LA to PA. Secondly, why are we driving? Now, from what I can tell,
it seems like driving is a more preferable mode
of transportation right now, as it's easier for us to control how many people we're around, and our social distancing, et cetera. It will also enable us to
fill up a whole minivan full of our valuables
like filming equipment, aforementioned giant hard drive, my Danish Grandma's crystal decanter, and personally transport
them across the country. _ Wedding dress in. - [Safiya] Which makes me feel better. I like that the Gelson's
bag just says crusty on it. (laughing) - That's actually not
crusty stuff in there. (laughing) - [Safiya] But the biggest reason we're gonna be driving
is because of our cat. As some of you may know, we have an ancient ex
street cat named Crusty that we adopted about five years ago. And we thought that though he's probably not gonna like any mode of transportation very much, driving would probably
be the best for him. - All right, here we go buddy. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. - Because his anxiety response to being in his carrier is to poop. And if that were to happen on
a six hour airplane flight, that would just be the
worst for everyone involved. - [Tyler] He's like, that's
where my pillow went. (cat meowing) - We're not saying that
this is necessarily the best way to transport your cat. He's just so old that we wanna do what's most comfortable for
him and not stress him out. - All right Crusty, that
whole area is yours. You can do what you want. - [Safiya] The vet estimates that he's between 17 and 20 years old, so I think our best bet is to just drive the cat across the country. Wow, filming and feeding at
the same time is not easy. So that's our plan. That's our reasoning and our plan. - [Tyler] He's good, okay, okay. - All right. So, it's December 29th. We have our negative COVID tests in hand. - [Tyler] Let's hit the road, Jack. - Well not in hand, they
texted us, but we're negative. I'm negative, he's negative. - Negative. - [Safiya] Let's grab our cat and go. We're on the road, baby. Talkin' about mountain dews, baby. Oh, he's settling in. There's some sun. He loves sun. I bet you five minutes, he's asleep. All right. So it is the start of day one of driving across the country. So today our chauffeur is
Mr. Tyler Lee Williams. Hello Tyler, nice sunglasses. Keep your eyes on the road, keep driving. - [Tyler] Here we go,
this way to booty town. - [Safiya] Now we've broken
up our 3000 mile journey into six days and we're
going to be driving about seven to eight hours each day. And our destination today
is Williams Arizona. We're going to be flying, no. (laughing) We're going to be driving
from our old house in LA, to Williams AZ, which is a little bit outside of the Grand Canyon. Because tomorrow we want
to peep the Grand Canyon, before driving on to our next destination. So Williams, it is. Tyler Williams is taking me to Williams. There's something there
that wasn't quite a joke, but I tried. - [Tyler] You said my last name. (laughing) So our mission for day one of driving, was to get out of the LA basin. There she blows Mount Baldy, I think. I think, I think one
of these is Mount Baldy And cross this big chunk of California. The one funny thing about our route today, is we're starting off like
how we usually drive to Vegas. That's like this first sort of, I don't know, like 50, 60
miles is just like Vegas time. - [Tyler] Oh yeah, you know
let's just go to Vegas. Forget moving. - [Safiya] Going to Vegas with our cat and a giant hard drive. - [Tyler] We're gonna be like that guy Jeff Lowe Tiger King. - [Safiya] Except instead of
a party bus with tigers on it, it's a minivan with Crusty in it. (laughing) Getting out of the LA basin
is always a bit tricky. Oh, look at this little valley. Do you think that's where
they make the ranch? Like we always hit
traffic right about here. Was that a diaper in
the middle of the road? - [Tyler] I don't know that was. (laughing) - We all just swerved there for a second. - [Tyler] We're going very slow. - [Safiya] But once the
bottleneck cleared up, we were able to get a little bit of mileage under our belt. All right, cool rock alert. Cool rock alert. - [Tyler] I love this rock. - [Safiya] We see this rock
every time we drive to Vegas. So we know this rock. - [Tyler] Yeah.
- [Safiya] Hello, rock. This is Dwayne, the Rock Johnson's cousin the large boulder on the way to Vegas. Before stopping for lunch
in a town called Barstow. Subway, I could go for Subway. - [Tyler] Okay, I can do Subway, too. - [Safiya] Yeah. - [Tyler] This is the eat fresh rendition of the Kiki challenge. That's what it's called, right? - I don't know? Ready?
- Okay. - Cheers.
- Cheers. Look at that, oh yeah. Subway, the same everywhere you go. (laughing) You guys know what this tastes like. Pretty good, actually. Now here we are introduced to our friend, the Highway, US 40. - [Navigation] In half a
mile, keep right at the fork to continue on I 40 East. Follow signs for Needles. - [Tyler] Bye Vegas, dude
I'm not going to Vegas, I'm going to Needles.
(laughing) - [Safiya] What happens in Needles, I don't even know what happens in Needles. (laughing) And the 40 is going to be our main mode of cross country travel
for almost our whole trip. - You know, what I just
saw, I saw a sign that said that this ends in
Wilmington, North Carolina. - [Safiya] So know it, love it,
breathe it, live it, the 40. All right, so it is about 4:30. The sun is probably about to go down. It seems like it. The moon is rising. What's up, moon, what's up! What's good, moon and train. So once it gets dark, I'm not really gonna be able to film much, but I will check in when we hit Arizona, which
might be a while from now. Oops, I just hit the camera
on the side of the car. (laughing) Dude, this is legit like
a real adventurer, man. Now, I did actually try to film at night, though I can't say I was very successful. - You getting some good stuff right now? - [Safiya] No.
(laughing) - All these night shots are terrible. We did actually make a
quick stop in Needles. I'm talking about Needles, baby. That's what that looks like
at 6:07 PM in December. - [Tyler] It's dark as hell out here, man. - [Safiya] I know it' so dark. Where we got some McDonald's coffee. Ooh, coffee, a la Michael
Scott, ooh, coffee. AKA, seemingly just milk and sugar, and actually no coffee at all. Yeah, is there coffee
in there, I don't know? - Is it coffee or is it dancer? - I think it might be dancer. - Yeah. - [Safiya] And from there we forged ahead. Okay, Google just told
me welcome to Arizona, but I didn't see anything. - [Tyler] There's a sign right here. - [Safiya] There is?
- [Tyler] Yeah, ready? - [Safiya] Oh, I see it. - [Tyler] That's the cool sign. - [Safiya] Okay, gotta see it. - [Tyler] We'll freeze frame it. - That was the mostly out of focus. Welcome to Arizona sign. I'll spare guys even more
nighttime shots here. - [Tyler] We're making do
with what we got here guys. - [Safiya] And we'll just
Fast forward to Williams. - [Tyler] There's
definitely on the ground. There's like frost, man! - [Safiya] Whoa, there
is snow on the ground. Oh God, it's 22 degrees outside. (laughing) - [Tyler] Oh is this isn't it? - [Safiya] Yeah this is is. All right. Best Western, Williams, AZ. Oh my God, it looks like
a Winter Wonderland. All right, we're going to go check in. All right, so we have
arrived in Williams, Arizona. - [Tyler] Hey guys.
- Hello? - [Tyler] He's digging it! - Very cat friendly, excited about it. - [Tyler] Crusty, you're a mountain lion. - [Safiya] Since we've gotten here, we've basically put the cat in the room, unloaded our van, and we did also drive around town just for a second. Look at all these Christmas trees, and it looks pretty cute. - They got Santa right there. - So we're going to try
and poke around there in the morning before we head off to the Grand Canyon proper. That's cute and fun. But for now our plan is vlog,
hello vlog, shower, and bed. - Yes, all right. Let's turn on a 90 Day
Fiance and call it a night. (laughing) - [Safiya] So the next morning,
we braved the relative cold- - [Tyler] Gotta jack up that heat Saf. - [Safiya] I know, I don't
even know what I'm doing. 80 degrees is that high enough? - [Tyler] That sounds high! - [Safiya] And popped into town for a bit. Founded 1881, gateway to the Grand Canyon. - [Tyler] Oh yeah. - [Safiya] Now Williams is kind of like a Grand Canyon themed town. Am I not Canyon enough
for the Canyon club? Canyon, Canyon!
(laughing) - [Tyler] Are you done?
(laughing) - No, the answer is no. - [Tyler] Never. - [Safiya] But it's also
on historic route 66. So on top of that gateway to
the Grand Canyon branding, which I guess is kind of
like a Wild West thing. - [Tyler] Oh yeah, look at her. - [Safiya] There's like a saloon
kind of popping out of it. - [Tyler] Hello. - [Safiya] It's cold for her today. - [Tyler] Yeah. - [Safiya] It's a bit cold for that. There's also a dash of
Americana motor chic. - [Tyler] Three Bs, baby!
- [Safiya] Bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica!
(laughing) - [Tyler] Michael! - [Safiya] With motels, neon signs, and just overall vintage vibes. - [Tyler] Okay, so we are
done bouncing around Williams. It's a pretty awesome little town. - It's really cute.
- Yeah. - [Tyler] They're going
all out for Christmas, man. - We got some coffee,
which I'm excited about. - Yeah. - So now we're going to
go back to the hotel, pack up get the cat and
go to the Grand Canyon. - Ever heard of it? Crusty, day two. He's like we're back here again? - [Safiya] The Grand Canyon is about an hour due North of Williams. Wow, what the heck! It's a forest out here! And it is a bit of a
detour from our route. Dude, I swear we've been
here before in Geoguessr. (laughing)
Right? Like just like a desert highway. But I've never been before. And Tyler thought it would be fun to do a little drive by to go see it. - We're stuck in traffic,
we have no service. - [Safiya] Talking 'bout
a traffic jam, baby! - And the only radio station we're getting only plays local ads for all of Arizona. - [Safiya] He promised
it would be worth it. - [Radio Announcer] Yes,
Comfort Inn in Flagstaff. - [Tyler] It's just ads.
- [Safiya] It's just ads. - [Radio Announcer] At the base of the spectacular San Francisco peaks. - [Tyler] So close. - [Safiya] But once the traffic cleared- - [Tyler] Salvation. - [Safiya] Suddenly we were there. - [Tyler] All right, then we're getting close to some cliff-age. - [Safiya] Cliff-age the
geological version of cleavage. - [Tyler] Oh damn!
- [Safiya] Oh my God, dude. I'm going to try and
save some of my reaction. - [Tyler] It's pretty insane actually. - Oh my God, whoa! - [Tyler] What do you think? - I think it's pretty awesome. (laughing) - [Tyler] As April from
Parks and Rec says, I'm trying to think of
something to be annoyed about, but there's not a lot
there, coming up blank. - This was probably worth the traffic. - Dude, you kidding? - Yeah.
- [Tyler] It's great. - [Safiya] This is pretty amazing. It's almost is so big that it looks fake. (laughing) Does that make sense? - [Tyler] Yeah, a little bit. I tried to film people all the way down there, just walking around. That puts it in perspective a little bit. - [Safiya] I like that we're both just filming the same things, just on different cameras. Oh, Tyler, your camera looks awesome. All right, that's enough of that. No jumping.
- Let's get Crusty. Let's show him.
- [Safiya] No, no, no! I don't want to reenactment
of Sail Cat over here. (laughing) No, no, Tyler, I'm gonna kill you. - Okay cool. - How does my butt look. - [Tyler] It looks good Your butt compared to
the Canyon looks small. (laughing) - That's what I like to hear.
(laughing) I feel like I'm doing a lot
of thumbs up in this segment. - [Tyler] A lot of thumbs up. - It's because my face is covered. (laughing) So I'm trying to like show my approval. - [Tyler] Yeah.
- You know? I'm smiling under here, but you can't see, Let's try to smize, smize-ing
at the Grand Canyon. - A lot of sun in my eyes. - Push through this is not
America's Next Top Best Friend. Okay?
- Okay. That's a pretty good
checkpoint, we made it! - [Safiya] So with the Grand Canyon seen, and arguably overfilmed-
- [Tyler] Bye Grand Canyon. - [Safiya] Bye. Catch you on the flippity
flop, flippity flip? We headed back South to catch our friend the I40 East Flagstaff left lane, that's
where we're going, right? - [Tyler] Yes. - [Safiya] And start making our way to our second destination. - Which, am I allowed to say it now? - Yeah. - Which is Santa Fe, New Mexico. - It wasn't really a secret. - Okay. - Maybe it is a secret. - It is the first time we're
to be saying in the video, but if's Santa Fe, New Mexico. - [Safiya] Which is about 416 miles and six hours to the East. - [Tyler] Part of me thinks that Crusty's sitting there thinking wow,
this vet is really far away. - [Safiya] Past some iconic
looking Arizona red rock. - [Tyler] We got our red rock. - [Safiya] Cool! - [Tyler] Like the whole
landscape is a little Mars-ish. - [Safiya] Through McDonald's
golden arches, once again... - This time we have fries, it's dangerous! - What the heck, those are good. Are they enhancing these? - They are literally enhancing them. - [Safiya] And across
the New Mexico border. New Mexico welcomes you, maybe? - [Tyler] That was the sign. It was a large and blue. So if you guys see it,
that's what that was. - All right, so we've
made it to New Mexico. - Yes. - We are here in Gallup,
which I think is decently close to like the New
Mexico, Arizona border. - Pretty close.
- Pretty close. But we needed to stop to caffeinate. So we got Starbucks, hello. Now, as some of you guys may know I like mugs and I had been interested in collecting these Starbucks
state mugs while on our drive. And as an added bonus, it
turns out that they had those where have you been mugs,
been there series mugs for both Arizona and New Mexico. - Two birds with one stone. - So I got both the mugs that I wanted. - Yeah.
- Basically. Well, I went into darkness. - There you are. This is particularly apropos, because New Mexico is a new
state that Safiya's now visited. Right?
- It's both New Mexico, and new to Safiya.
- Yes, exactly. (laughing) So, we have a little bit of
a ways to go to Santa Fe. We have a few more hours,
and so the warm caffeine is really supercharging the both of us to kind of like just power
through that finish line. - [Safiya] All right, onwards, as onwards on the inexorable march
towards Philadelphia. All right, so it is the
morning of day three. - [Tyler] Yes. - [Safiya] We're here in Santa Fe. Look at that giant mountain, man! - [Tyler] It's almost
like a mountain town. - We got in late last night
and we were very tired. So we did not check in. - [Tyler] So this is
what Santa Fe looks like. Because last night I didn't see anything. - But Crusty just loves
the hotel rooms, man. I think Crusty's having
a good time, overall. Hey Crust. He's very calm. I think he likes hotel bedspreads. Are you just like as
comfortable as can be? - By the way, he's right there. - He looks like a lump of coal on the bed. (laughing) - [Tyler] You are living it up, man. - [Safiya] Unfortunately
though we got in too late to like get any food
from any grocery store, or restaurant or anything. So we bought six frozen Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches from the front desk. The flash makes the seem horrifying. So that was our dinner. It's like a crime scene. Yesterday, we literally had McDonald's, coffee, six frozen Jimmy Dean sandwiches. - Bed. - I need to eat like a pile
of lettuce or something. - Yeah, you need a detox. All right, stop. It doesn't matter how many golden arch McDonald's signs we see
for the rest of this trip. We are not going through
McDonald's under any circumstance. - [Safiya] I agree, I can't deal with it. Unless there's breakfast. So basically this morning, we're just going to go poke around downtown Santa Fe a little bit, and see some of the
sites before heading off to our next destination. Now Santa Fe itself is
kind of a small city with really beautiful
Adobe style architecture, and a general historic vibe. And at the center of it is kind of like this cute town square situation. I recognize this place from season one of The Great food Truck Race, and it left a great impression on me because I instantly recognized it. So I'm pleased to be here. - I'm very pleased. - [Safiya] Food Truck Road Trip is like one of our favorite shows. - Go to we over recommend it to people. - Yeah. - I'm not sure anyone- - We probably talk about it too much. - Way too much, yeah. - [Safiya] And this area has a bit of a stars, hollow vibe
with a gazebo, a church, lots of cool shops and restaurants. And apparently America's
oldest Capitol building, all infused with some
general Southwestern flavors. - [Tyler] We're all about this chilies. I did not realize that they were made of a bunch of little
chilies, that's awesome! - [Safiya] So after checking out the town, we packed up our stuff grabbed
our cat, and hit the road. - [Safiya] Food trucks, let's get rolling. - [Tyler] I wonder if anyone
know what we're talking about. - [Safiya] I think that the
season we're talking about aired 10 years ago.
- [Tyler] Yeah. - [Safiya] So, I think the answer is no. No one knows what we're talking about. Tyler Florence himself probably forgot. Heading 280 miles East
to our next destination. Now our next stop was
going to be Oklahoma City. But actually early that morning, Tyler's dad called us and told us there was gonna be an ice storm in Oklahoma city that night. And we were already like
a little bit nervous about tonight's driving because
tonight is New Year's Eve. So we decided to on the
fly change our plans, and stop in Amarillo, Texas instead. And then tomorrow we're
going to have a little bit of a longer day of
driving to make up for it. So that's the plan. We're on the road, we're heading to Texas. Don't mess with Texas! - [Tyler] Nelly! - [Safiya] Now the mountains and mesas of New Mexico are really beautiful. Wow! - [Tyler] Mesa, Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill. - [Safiya] But I did
get a bit carried away filming all the cliffs
and crags out the window. - [Tyler] Yeah, look rocks right here. - Rocks, rocks! I just couldn't help myself. I feel like I am to rocks, what Kris Jenner is to Kim.
(laughing) I'm like filming them for minutes on end. Tyler's rocks by you, rocks to the front, rocks to the side rocks
as far as the I can see. I'm just like you're doing great sweetie. Work it, work it! Oh, there's some cool rocks to my right. I better cut this camera
go back to my iPhone. - [Tyler] This has been
going on for hours people. - [Safiya] And after many boulders, there's a rock in the distance, whoa! And billboards. No more Mr. Knife guys. - [Tyler] Knives, swords and daggers. - [Safiya] We arrived in Texas. - [Tyler] This is our most
day lit state border sign yet. - [Safiya] I know it's wild. Whoa, the sunset is
actually gorgeous right now. It's just like a line of blue advancing. - And that way is 2021.
(laughing) - [Safiya] Oh my God, for real! - [Tyler] Better things that way. - Okay, Tyler refuses
to move the stool over, so he's sitting on the same chair as me and he almost killed us both. - It's under Crusty's shovel box thing, and you know.
- All right. So we are here in Amarillo, Texas. Amarillo, Texas, as we mentioned before
it's New Year's Eve. So, I did get us some New Year's treats to celebrate with.
- Yeah, - I've got some champagne. Just kidding, it's water. It's Vodka, no it's water, just water. We have some clementines
from what's the place called? - Loves.
- Loves. - [Tyler] Already peeled
clementines is genius, Loves. Genius! Loves is where we went
to get the water, too. - Yeah.
(laughing) We also have some
biscochitos from Santa Fe. - Apparently these are
the cookie of Santa Fe. (indistinct) - I think they're like
cinnamon cookies, right? - They look good, they look
almost like Snicker doodles. - [Safiya] There's some on your shirt. So we're going to eat our snacks. See if we can maybe peep a firework, and then we're definitely
going to go to bed, because we're pretty tired. - [Tyler] Yeah.
- Peace out 2020. (knocking)
- Oh yeah. - I just hit my hand.
(laughing) Was that 2020 hitting back? - Yeah. - Peace out 2020. Tyler took his clementines and ran. (laughing)
Happy New Year, Crust. Wow, 2021. Could this also be the year you turn 21? It's possible, it's definitely possible. - All right, good night buddy. Okay, so new year, Happy New Year. - Yeah!
- [Tyler] All right. So we are packed up and
heading out of Amarillo. Before we left, we stopped by this thing called the Cadillac Ranch, which is sort of like a route 66 staple. - [Safiya] Oh, I see them in the distance. - [Tyler] And what it is is it's basically Cadillac's that are like buried one third of the way into the
ground and standing up. There's like, I dunno, 10 of them. - [Safiya] It's kind of like the Texan version of Stonehenge. - [Tyler] It is! - [Safiya] What could
these cars possibly mean? At the solstice, their shadows align. - [Tyler] And they're sort
of like an art installation that I guess now people spray paint. I thought it was a
pretty cool installation definitely worth the visit. - [Safiya] Now that's a hot wheel (laughing) - [Tyler] We are now packed up with cat, Texas Starbucks mug in hand, and are gonna head to
our fourth destination, which is Little Rock, Arkansas. - [Safiya] Yeah. Now, since we had stopped
short the day before, we had a fair amount of driving to do. So our route for the day was basically to travel through this little
top hat portion of Texas, through the entire state of Oklahoma, and a little bit of Arkansas to boot, which is a whopping nine
hours and 598 miles, passed weirdly another
smaller car display. - [Tyler] This is like the
Volkswagen version here. - [Safiya] This is just a random place where we stopped to get gas and
they just have one of those. That's so random. - [Tyler] That's the
go-to art installation. It's just burying cars. - [Safiya] Through another
Love's convenience store stop. We love Love's. - [Tyler] I think we need a Love's 'cause they have the gas. Saf, Crust, and me. - I can barely see your eyebrows. There you go.
- There we go! - [Safiya] Past many cows - [Tyler] Cows, cows.
- [Safiya] Cows. - [Tyler] Cows, also more cows. - [Safiya] LubeZone.
(laughing) Sorry I'm five.
(laughing) Beneath many migrating birds. - [Tyler] Ducks fly
together, the flying v, baby. Can't beat it unless you're Iceland. - [Safiya] And across some great plains, until we got to Oklahoma City. - [Tyler] Downtown OKC.
- [Safiya] Oh wow! - [Tyler] Yeah. - [Safiya] What is that thing? - [Tyler] What the hell is that? It's like their version of
like the St. Louis arches. - [Safiya] It's like
the Sydney Opera House, except it's the Oklahoma
City psychedelic crane. - [Tyler] It's pretty cool, I like it! (laughing) Okay, here is our pretty late lunch in Oklahoma City, it's 7:15. - Look it's a wrap.
- Mm hmm. - We are switching for the
remainder of the trip today to Arkansas, we got wraps.
- Wraps! - So, starting lunch in
the new year, schmancy. - All right, Tyler is taking some Tums. It's gonna be another five hours. - Five hours. - But we're gonna make it work. We've got coffee and another sandwich. - [Tyler] Coffee coffee coffee. - So we should be okay.
- Yes. (laughing)
- All right, let's do it. - All right, let's do it. So then it was into the darkness, across the state border. - [Tyler] Arkansas,
Arkansas, that is Arkansas. - [Safiya] Oh yeah. Welcome to Arkansas. - [Tyler] Buckle up for safety. - [Safiya] You know, I think I actually might've gotten that one.
(laughing) - [Safiya] And finally around 1:00 AM, we pulled into our hotel in Little Rock. - [Navigation] Your
destination is on the right. - [Tyler] Hello Residence Inn. - [Safiya] So the next
morning we wanted to get an early start because it was gonna be another long day of driving. It's a rainy day in Little Rock. - [Tyler] It's a little rain. - [Safiya] A little rainy in Little Rock? - [Tyler] Yeah. - [Safiya] A little rain, Little Rock. But before we left, we
wanted to see a site. So we headed to this one
attraction that Google recommended. - [Tyler] I'm intrigued. - [Safiya] T.R. Pugh Park,
home of the old mill. Wow! - Dude, Google's right, this is awesome! - [Safiya] This is really cute. - [Tyler] Look at this
crazy ass bridge, man! - [Safiya] Oh, kids are loving that. It's a recreation of an
1880s style Watermill. Surrounded by a variety of
spritely wood sculptures. - [Tyler] What are you
gyrating on the old mill? - [Safiya] And even though it seemed like kind of a random destination at first, it ended up being really nice and calming. It's very tranquil.
- [Tyler] Dude, yeah! Apparently, Arkansas is the natural state. And when I did Google it, there's like a lot of like waterfalls, a lot of like little lakes
and streams and stuff. So, I think we're getting
a little bit of that here. It's also, apparently according to the Starbucks mug that we just got the spinach capital of the world. - Yes. So we took a lot of
footage, some ASMR footage. I wonder if one could
call this cottage core. I think so.
- [Tyler] It's cottage core. - [Safiya] And some footage of Tyler wandering around
strangely on the bridge. I can't use this, keep going! Before packing up our
stuff and heading out. All right, so with the old mill visited, and Little Rock now behind us- - All right, see you Little
Rock catch you on the flip side. - [Safiya] We are heading
to our next destination, which is Knoxville, Tennessee. And this is gonna be our last
stop before Philadelphia. So this is our final stop before home. And the trip from Little
Rock to Knoxville, is a cool eight hours and 527 miles. - [Tyler] All right Saf,
are you ready for the Nos? Three, two, one.
(laughing) - [Safiya] The Nos?
(laughing) - It'd be a terrible time to use Nos. - [Safiya] Yeah, there's
people right in front of you. Across the rest of Arkansas. Lots of trees in Arkansas. - [Tyler] There are a lot of trees. - [Safiya] Maybe that's why
it's called Little Rock, little rock, many trees. Through the wind and rain. We got a Love's truck right here. - [Tyler] That is our truck baby. - [Safiya] Oh my God. Danny Devito, I love your work. Over the Mississippi River and
across the Tennessee border. - [Navigation] Welcome to Tennessee. - [Tyler] Ooh, volunteer state. - [Safiya] All right, there's Memphis. - [Tyler] Memphis. - [Safiya] That's the Mississippi River. - [Tyler] Mighty Mississippi. - [Safiya] And then this is some pyramid. - [Tyler] It says Bass Pro Shops on it. - [Safiya] The Bass Pro
Shop pyramid, I guess. - [Tyler] Yeah. - [Safiya] There's no way,
that's what it is, really? Apparently it is a Bass Pro Shop. So the more you know, I guess. Maybe it's just the Bass Pro Shop for the Illuminati customer. - There you go. - [Safiya] All right. So we're in Memphis now. And we dropped by a grocery
store to grab some lunch, which is going to be a grilled
chicken and pesto sandwich. - Yum.
- Sounds pretty good, right? - It looks pretty good. Sweet.
- Sweet. So, we're going to scarf this and then continue driving across Tennessee. - [Navigation] In half a
mile merge onto I40 East, - Because we need to get across the entire length of Tennessee today. I think Memphis and Knoxville
are on the opposite sides. - It is long and narrow. Okay, so we're checking
in now from Nashville, we got here successfully. Is there a show called Nashville
with Hayden Panettiere? - [Safiya] I love that show. - [Tyler] It is nighttime. We've grabbed more food for later tonight. So we don't have a Jimmy Dean's incident. - No!
(laughing) - No!
(laughing) We got more Starbucks. Safiya has now taken the wheel. - [Safiya] There's a Piggly wiggly. - [Tyler] Is that a thing? We've got about two and a half hours left to Knoxville and we're
gonna head that way now. Dollywood, Dollywood. So onward to Knoxville, which is again our final stop before Philadelphia. That is a huge ass billboard. - [Safiya] What the heck? - [Tyler] We wanna get fireworks? - Okay, so that was a
very long day of driving. We are here in Knoxville, now. - [Tyler] What's up Knoxville? How are we doing? - The drive from Nashville
was honestly not that bad. At times it was intensely dark. - Yeah. Yeah, this is like the darkest it's ever been. - Other times I had a
couple of streetlights. - Yeah. - [Safiya] I know, I'm so spoiled. Besides that, I also noticed that we were like climbing mountains to get here, but I could not see the mountains which was kind of a trippy experience. I think we all are going uphill. - [Tyler] We definitely are. - [Safiya] But none of us can see that we were going uphill.
- [Tyler] Trust us. - [Safiya] So we're pretty tired now. So, I'm going to shower and
we're just going to go to bed. - Yes.
- All right. That's it, goodbye.
- Bye. Goodnight, we'll see you tomorrow. We'll see you in like two seconds. We'll see you right now. - Good night. All right, so we are here
in downtown Knoxville, just kind of wandering around,
looking at the buildings. Knoxville, which is located in the great Appalachian Valley is called the gateway
to the smokey mountains, and is also the home of the
University of Tennessee. It is super cute over here. Happy anniversary, Alan and Gail Hammer. There are a lot of like brick
buildings, shops, restaurants, Knoxville Soap and Candle. How would you feel about
me defiling your goods? (laughing) And there also are a
few historic buildings that I don't know what they
are, but they're there too. The front of this says
our beloved physician, Dr. John Mason Boyd and down there, we have a couple of cannons. - [Tyler] Check out
the cannons in this building. - [Safiya] So after having
seen some of the sites, we are going to pick up some
breakfast and some coffee and we're gonna hit the road, and head to our final, final
destination, Philadelphia. - [Tyler] We also have to grab her cat. - Right! - Can't forget him.
- No. Don't leave your cat in Knoxville. That's what they always say. - That's what they say. - That's what they say. - Yeah. - All right, we're heading out. - Final drive. - We are out of here. - We outie. - Crusty's eating his food. You can see his butt though. - Crusty show your butt to the camera. Oh, you're already doing it. Perfect, sweet that was easy. - So our drive today is
actually pretty long. It's about nine and a half hours, and we're gonna be going through
with the rest of Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland, and
then into Pennsylvania for a grand total of 626
miles and five states, including West Virginia. We're going through West Virginia, too. - [Tyler] Wow.
- [Safiya] Wow. - [Tyler] I knew there were mountains. - [Safiya] There are the mountain. So it was at this point that we got off our old friend the
highway 40 and turned North, carving our way through
the smoky mountains and into Virginia. - [Tyler] Virginia is for lovers, - [Safiya] And for re-enactors,
at least that's what I said in our last video. I wonder how far Colonial
Williamsburg is from here. Should we go? Let's take the cat. Crusty, you can pull the cart. Past some large rocks. - [Tyler] That's a big ass rock. - [Safiya] Oh, I'll get the rock. I'm a rock specialist, tall trees. - [Tyler] Big roots. - [Safiya] They do say that actually. And into the Shenandoah Valley. - [Tyler] Man, it's pretty out here. - [Safiya] All right, so
we've taken a quick stop in Roanoke, Virginia. We are here to grab a little bit of food from the grocery store. (indistinct) Pinwheels are awesome. May have see if a Starbucks
has a Virginia mug, and then we're going to swap. So I will be driving the rest of the way and we're gonna keep going. - [Tyler] We're getting close. - [Safiya] After Roanoke, we kind of hit like a four state blitz where we crossed from Virginia into the narrowest
slivers of West Virginia. - [Navigation] Welcome to West Virginia. - [Tyler] I think I kind of got it. - [Safiya] And Maryland. - [Tyler] That's white
one up there, go slow. - [Safiya] And then
finally into Pennsylvania. - [Tyler] Oh yeah.
- [Safiya] Whoa hoo! All in like a 30 minute period. - Okay, so we are now in Pennsylvania. Final state.
- Final state, baby. - We are getting on the 76, which is the Pennsylvania turnpike. This is like our last major highway merge. So we are getting there. That's Amish land. - [Safiya] So after
driving through Western PA - [Tyler] Chocolate. - [Safiya] Give me the chocolate. We made our very last pit stop. I stink. - Okay, so pretty much our final check-in. We're in the absolute
final leg of the trip, but we had to go pee, road tripping. And we stopped by Wawa. So yes, we are truly in Pennsylvania. - [Safiya] It's a mega Wawa. - [Tyler] It's a super Wawa. - Let's pee, let's do it, it's time. - But yes, we just want to check in and let you guys know we're peeing, but it's really about Wawa. Wawa's awesome, so there you go. All right, Saf, bring home the bacon. - Wawa, we out! - You don't have anything more I think you got it. - We we'd at Wawa and now we're out. - Okay. We're going.
(laughing) Through the rainy
windshield, Philadelphia. Not always sunny.
(laughing) Shitty weather. - [Safiya] And suddenly we had arrived. - Okay, so we are pulling in right now. - Yeah.
- We're exhausted. We're going to unpack.
- Yeah. - We're going to hit the hay.
- Yeah. - And then we have like
an intro for this video. So, I guess we'll see you there. - You mean outro? - And then we have an
outro for this video. So I guess we'll see you there. And yeah. - [Safiya] So after six days, 3000 miles, nine Starbucks state mugs and
countless grocery store wraps, we made it across the country. After spending a bit of
time with Tyler's family, we started planning our next move. And in the first couple
of months of this year, we actually decided to move
to Raleigh, North Carolina, which is where we are right now. We've been here for a little over a month and we absolutely love it. Tyler has some family in the area. There are actually a lot of YouTube channels
based in North Carolina. And we have a few friends that have moved to the Raleigh area specifically in the last couple of years, including Kayley Melissa
and Mat and Steph Pat from, The Game Theorists. Also, the top perk of them all, it's just a sweet three hour drive to Colonial Williamsburg, VA. 18th century makeover people, book it. So we're in the process of
getting set up here right now. And we're excited to rebuild our business get back to working and
posting on our main channel and also launch some new projects as well, including a weekly live stream
that we're gonna be doing on this channel right here every Tuesday at 5:00 PM Eastern time,
starting this Tuesday. So be there or be square. It's a new chapter, people. It's all happening. We don't have any furniture. And I still have a lot of feelings, and no I still do not go
here, but I do live here. So there's that. Thank you guys so much for watching. If you liked that video make sure to smash that like button. And if you want to see

I loved her new video! It seems like more and more youtubers and beauty gurus are leaving LA... good for them! And Crusty was so cute.
I'm about halfway through the video and honestly, she and Tyler both just seem so much happier. I think leaving LA and being closer to family is a good move for them.
Also this video made me want to roadtrip so badly. I LOVE roadtrips!
This is probably going to be a great move for them - honestly LA is just not for everyone, itβs a city that can feel really isolating for people whose families and friends are far away, and the pandemic has made that all a lot harder. Lots of transplants have been moving to be closer to their families. Hell, if my family wasnβt an hour away Iβd move too - it can be lonely af.
Good for her, I hope this gets them where they need to be, mentally, in order to thrive - be that on yt or in whatever endeavors they choose.
Crusty was the real star of this video.
This was educational as a non-American, America seems like such a pretty country to drive through. This was a great video too, I can't believe I watched a 40 min video about a roadtrip and wasn't bored at all haha.
I've really missed Saf, it's great to see that she seems to be doing better after the move.
Kinda shocked they chose Raleigh but honestly that's pretty cool! YouTubers pursuing living in places other than LA and NY is refreshing.
i rly liked the video and got oddly invested in whether sheβd be able to get every state mug lol but omg itβs no wonder she got burnout, she put up a little apology text on the screen for her windshield being dirty doing a CROSS COUNTRY DRIVE saf honey pls learn how to not care abt pplβs comments or abt being perfect
the fact that i didnβt get bored for even a minute of the 40 minute video says enough, i hope this move was everything she wanted!!!
It was so nice to see Safiya again! I feel like she and Tyler did the right thing for their well being. I know Safiya was having a tough time with burnout and feeling scrutinized/feeling like she wasnβt living up to expectations. I hope this helps give them the peace of mind they were wanting. Iβm really excited to see what they have in store!
