Trying Southern Fast Food Chains For The First Time

hello friends and welcome to this week's live stream yeah it's tuesday it's 5 p.m eastern we're here we're live we're all hanging out yes um so this week we are going to be trying some southern fast food chains that we have never tried before no because we are new to the southeast and there are things that we have to try now that we live here and i believe they're all like from north carolina all these trains or maybe the carolinas yes maybe maybe south carolina too or north carolina i thought they're all from north carolina north carolina okay so yeah we live in north carolina and uh i know what's going on don't be starting sorry guys yeah no beef between the carolinas okay so um yeah but before we like dive right in just want to say hi hope everyone had a great weekend a great monday a great tuesday um if it's not tuesday where you are then a great wednesday yeah no one's behind us everyone's in front of us i think so yeah i'm not good with time zones i don't mean um we have a couple of mugs of the day around here um i have one that i cooked up i cooked up um i cooked up a couple of hours ago so my coffee is cold yeah it is cold out not iced but cold so sorry that's like literally gross um it's a smelly cat mug and then on the other side is is the smelly namesake yeah look at that the smelly cat sorry action shots there he is look at him he's stinky he's got the pigpen it doesn't look like crusty but in spirit it is crusty i think there was at some point we realized krusty was smelly cat early on he ran he's ranked he's ranked he is rank i think that people who are interested in meeting krusty would be shocked by his breath cute on the outside stinky on the mouth side um and then i have this mug which is like a haunted mansion mug we could see inside the lip without spilling oh yeah there you go look at that i see it um i did notice in the comments people say that i say look at that and i call out the action shot a lot and i think it's fun i think it's just a twitch it's just something that i do so it's gonna keep happening but um it is a warm coffee yeah because we were outside today doing a filming uh and actually we filmed finished filming or finished our most recent filming block yes and i am a little concerned that sun plus biscuits is going to lead to an early night for me so well it will certainly but hopefully we can stave it off at least until the end of the stream that's not trying to caffenate yeah i just said one second before the stream started i need to wake up and everyone's like are you okay no just like i i feel like i might have like the inkling of a sunburn and um i need to drink some coffee so that that's the that's the context yes um pre-biscuits yeah we just finished our our filming block actually so that means that tomorrow i'm gonna be editing starting the editing block um and hopefully you know we'll have a video up on the main channel soon-ish that's our channel main channel update that's our main channel update we want to lead off with that yeah we are cranking away doing some stuff but we do have some things to eat and learn about yes so the premise behind this live stream is that carly and chris who are behind the camera and tricaster situation who are doing the streaming portion of this live stream are bor are both from north carolina i just said borth i emerged both and north together for abortion live constant people you know borscht yeah exactly they're both from north carolina um north carolinians carols north carols if you will that's no one says that i just said that for no reason um and they thought it would be fun to introduce us as nouveau north carolinians to north carolina cuisine yes or fast food chains this fast food that are sort of not exclusive but started in the south sort of signature to the south yes and um you know so we can just get our feet wet and like understand local cuisine a little bit more it's like the in and out equivalent for north korea right right exactly are your go-to's hey it's late at night you're hungry you want to grab a bite to eat yeah you could go to these places absolutely fast food so we are going to start off our adventure our fast food our dinner our early dinner because we will be probably asleep at 7 p.m today yes um with bojangles which is actually a fast food chain that i think a lot of people really love like i know that rhett and link from good mythical morning love bojangles um and but but we have never tried it at all like not even a little bit i've never even been inside one i think i might have tried it in like two thousand one time but i i it was one i just wanted to preface that trying to create controversy you see the philip defranco tyler williams had bojangles in 2000 according to his uncle um who then exposed me yeah um i at least have not never had it before i have never had it before tyler may have had it when he was like 10 or 12. that was 21 years ago wait that is really crazy actually yes um and so it's some people's like really favorite fast food place um and i do have some fun facts about bojangles before we dive into eating these things um bojangles was founded in the beaufact bojack they say bow box right here maybe they're trying to brand around uh bow get it away from the bj right they want to go to bow you know i i don't know i'm just thinking out loud stop blaspheming bojangles okay all right here's the fun facts bojangles was founded in charlotte north carolina in 1977. for about a decade spicy chicken was the only option they released their mild recipe in 1986. oh yeah look at that guy that guy's pumped that looked like the colonel from kfc like trying mojang even the colonel likes more um they are most well known for their chicken and biscuits but every thanksgiving they sell a seasoned fried turkey that's interesting look at that that is interesting wow okay i don't know how i feel but i like the commitment to the bit i think we know our thanksgiving stream now there you go right just fried turkey i think we could definitely do a general fast food thanksgiving meals well they're also this is a side note and unrelated to the stream but there is or at least i don't know if it's real or not there's so many things that people send me like on you know instagram or whatever that they're like oh yeah this would be a great video do it but then half of them aren't real okay like you know the thing that is like part croc part like winter boot that thing is not real okay um sorry i didn't know you're tired okay there is that i've seen like a thanksgiving dinner in a can oh yeah okay where it's like each layer is like a different course of thanksgiving dinner anything we do that but we could also do the fried trees we have multi-years of streams here we could all sorry i'm completely fine wrong wind pipe there yeah okay this yeah you got pollen i took i took a little sip of water and i went down the wrong windpipe and then it was all over for me but basically what you're saying is that we could do a thanksgiving canned food stream yes or the fried turkey or both yeah the fried turkey also reminds me of gilmore girls when um sookie's husband jackson yes deep fries the turkey and sookie is just crying or and then she gets really drunk she yeah she drinks margaritas on the rocks that's when she goes i'm drinking margaritas on the rocks it's an epic melissa mccarthy kick and to be fair to jackson is mostly jackson's entire family which includes roon etc and they're they're crazy that's some gilmore gilmore girls deep cuts for you yes which you can expect in our stream yes well anyway is there any more fun facts about bo those are the fun facts that we should talk about before the bio before we dive into eating this stuff but but yes i do have some some more fun facts for later thank you so much um can i say thank you i'm sorry you're welcome sun exhausted um so we have here like a box box a bow box um carly you want to tell us what we have actually because i don't know um oh it's bow time it's bow tie i ordered an eight piece chicken with four biscuits um they did give me the tailgate version oh so is that bigger much bigger okay and it comes with like fixings on the side fixes this is a tailgate people we're here but i just want to say in case i start sweating which i think is going to happen this whole office apartment is so warm right now yeah cause these things have been in the oven because they've been very considerately rewarmed up but here's the situation one of our um like places we're trying closes at 2 p.m yeah so carly went earlier today to get everything and then reheated it recently for us to eat it yes but yes that means that the the whole apartment is like hot we are going to chase an oven yeah we also got like um window plugs for our windows so yeah so like um yeah so you can see there's there's incoming incoming ain't coming i'm coming over here to show them off because hey that's my face yeah look at those darkness so yeah we got those i'm behind the camera we got window plugs for our windows to like keep out um excess noise and sound but that means we can't like crack a window so it's warm in here and we're just living our lives we're all in here yeah okay so yes so i guess we have the tailgate bow box um let's unbox this yes and get into it does anyone in the chat have anything exciting to say sorry i didn't want to oh go early on box here uh claire littenberger says that the carolina panthers have bojangles before every game i mean i was just like breakfast of champions no evidence that's breakfast right um meal of football players so you know that's ins that's instead of brexit you just need the raw calories man exactly you're gonna out there just smashing bits you know okay anyway so let's uh smash a bit i don't even know what i'm talking about is that a thing no that sounds like a euphemism for something very different let's open our bow box because it's tailgate time baby okay bojangles oh look they're inviting us to dig it nope that's wrong dig in all right ready yeah and we open it here let me like present it forward [Music] wow that is a packed box man okay i also put the cajun filet biscuit in there it doesn't come with is that what this is yes okay so it's customized too oh yeah this is like my own little twist thank you okay this first of all this does smell very very very good even with the getting it earlier and reheating factor yes it smells awesome i do like myself a thick fry i'm like trying to you know what i mean like a sort of like a a thicker fry and that is a nice shape look at that flat look at that flat fry you like the potato wedge dynamic i do like the potato wedge dynamic yeah i am a potato wedge fan there are a lot of families of fries you got the soggy fry you got the crispy fries you got the thick fry you got the crinkle cut fry thick soggy fries man that is my jam i i do like those too they they do great as like pillowing for as you eat you just grab multiples at once you just go in on it it's great love everything about it um then we have a sorry no i was just saying i'm very intimidated right now by this box because i know it's one of three yeah places so i'm like just strategizing over here i'm like hey arnold in his eating competition then it looks like we've got a normal biscuit and a second normal biscuit oh my i will say that based off of just being in north carolina for like a couple of months people and places go heavy like in they go in with the biscuits oh my god i'm drum sipping stop upsetting people in the chat why would they be upset by that um i feel like you are just you're just i will say once again you are blaspheming the name of bojangle no i'm not i'm going to like bojangles i feel we know that like a lot of people like it and you're just like you know activity i think we should all reevaluate ourselves um and then um i will say that people in north carolina do go in with the biscuits like if you go to a restaurant very often you just get biscuits complimentary biscuits are a game changer yeah you just get them so you kind of i i have obviously i have tried biscuit like a any biscuit before in life but i will say that i've eaten more biscuits in the last like two months than i have probably in my entire life preceding that i think that biscuits are not over hyped so there are no fighting words here i feel like you hear a lot about biscuits and everyone's like oh what's the big fuss it's like no biscuits are solid they're delicious they're buttery they're pillowy give them a t-shirt that's a little i'm trying to show chris this thing development humor okay what what is this again carly it's the cajun filet biscuit this looks like my kind of thing the cajun fillet biscuits rage encagement yeah yeah it's kind of almost like um i was gonna say the cronut no like the ramen burger you know when you have like like a really an interesting bun and also an inside yeah okay like the double down over that one what's that i just saw a post about the double down recently it's the uh two pieces of fried chicken uh with like a bacon and cheese in the inside and uh it was i don't want to speak a blasphemous name here but it was a kfc product bojangles is rival even though the colonel apparently he really likes bojangles yeah exactly the 1975 commercial um but yeah that one was crazy too so i like how kfc was doing keto before keto was a thing it's just like only meat cheese and bacon yeah when they heard about the keto diet for the first time like reading a blog post like this is this is us what are you talking about um this looks great okay i and then we also have this thing oh and this thing that's dirty rice this is dirty rice this looks this is what is dirty rice oh my oh yeah that looks delicious that looks still oh my god i love seasoned rice i love seasoned rice are you staring of into the audiences creeping them out man i am so into seasoned rice you guys don't even know what is this thing um i don't know it's the bow berry biscuit oh my god is that a dessert biscuit yeah bo berry yeah bo bobbity bobbity is that a crazy no that's creed in the office he goes bow body bow body bow body yeah it's the bow biscuit bow box bow biscuit it's risky when you go for like season six office references yeah no one knows not as much in the sweet spot now it's on peacock especially or whatever so we don't even know anymore we don't know should we should we dive in we should probably start eating we should start eating yeah people are going to go they start eating at minute four minute four talk about minute 16. oh my god wow okay here let's taste this thing all right ready i'll start with just a classic fry oh yeah yeah ready you're gonna you're feeding i'm gonna feed you sweetly and nicely oh i forgot to cheers sorry about that it's okay oh yeah well there's some little seasoning on this i if i recall 20 years ago two decades i believe the seasoning is like a big part of the beaujolais brand it's cajun seasoning seasoning seasoning yeah i've also heard from multiple people on our team that like a fun way to say bojangles is bo hangless kind of like you know like target is target yeah bojangles is bojangles yeah which i might adopt i'm going around their beau brand right though yeah they they put on their box i'm going i was just gonna call him bj i'm a bj fan i'm a brand ambassador okay uh i'm gonna go for the biscuit you want some the biscuit i do want some of the biscuit yeah okay so this is my first uh jangle biscuit right right over here is there gonna be shot on my face i'll only check for sweat it's very close okay you guys come in close to the dock okay here we go cheers cheers okay in oh my goodness i am really red i'm so blotchy oh yeah that's better all right i'll i'll eat it i'm not gonna step into the frame there that is an excellent biscuit that's a light and fluffy that is light and fluffy that is a very different vibe than the fries that is optimized biscuit that was biscuit i like that oh yeah on the drink front by the way because the biscuits a little dry well i'm not trying to throw shade but i'm just saying a little dry time out sorry i just realized that's the food network kiss of death um no it's um it i thought the biscuit was like fluffy but yes we do also have some drinks from bojangles bojangles we have the um bojangle sweet tea here i think they gave us an incredibly large size because we got the tailgate box on here it says yeah legendary iced tea steeped like we mean it is the iced tea legendary or is this container legendary or are you a legend if you can finish this thing i think all three all three at one this is like a big goal um we have some fun facts about sweet tea in general oh wow sweet tea dates back to the late 1800s in the beginning it was considered a luxury item because of all of the ingredients needed to make it work oh because all of the ingredients needed to make it were expensive tea sugar and ice that's so real i mean think about like you know tea tacks boston tea party all of it teeth was expensive dumping the tea in washington team apparently ice was the most valued of all of the ingredients of sweet tea because it had to be shipped from afar really at the time okay yes well now we have a lot of sweet tea in our hands i have had sweet tea before in my life but that is an excellent drink whoa tyler your reaction to that was incredibly understated this is in very sweet dudes got tanged you just got kicked in the face right there right sweet tea it's like a kick in the face is there tang still does that still exist it must tang was just like a powder so like do you mix into drinks i think the astronauts for nasa used to drink it that was like they're dehydrated yeah exactly it's like dehydrated i guess kool-aid is already dehydrated it also comes in a pack it's like dehydrated sunny delights maybe kool-aid is worse for you or something well i just propositioned a question to the audience about tank how is the audience feeling are they blasphemed right now are they just mortally offended by my consumption of uh i'm just waiting for someone to say something about tang but i'm not seeing anything all right we're on a little bit of a delay there um the natural uh chaturang okay i'm gonna come in here is this more ice is this also just okay so we have a lot of sweet tea they gave me extra when i went yeah you need more tea i think it was for the person behind me and they were like you just take it you need more tea yeah let me tell you about little you need more tea some tea oh my god shipping tea i believe get out rewind to 2019 baby oh my god um all right so amanda says that tang is still around cool amanda thank you for letting us know beau let's go to my side let's go to boat let's go remember uh moe from global guts no that's winner right i know you have to eat that one because you were drumming with it earlier banging on a trash can you can't sing you know that's something i don't know if viacom is gonna uh okay anyway okay here we go ready oh my god this is so close in ready what a strategic zoom out do you like that i like this this is excellent take another bite for the camera all right it's like that scene from hook eating all the food they're super excited that wasn't netflix recently i feel like that's decently relevant i just made like a million completely dated references in a row but this is not relevant i like that chris is like doing some just like artful zoom-ins like he's just like starting really he's just like doing it he's like i'm gonna just pan every shot will be like incredibly zoomed in and panned out the spirit of canon camera is just like what has happened i love it yeah this is amazing actually this has got a little kick a little spice the cajun biscuit the cajun fillet biscuit yeah cajun filet biscuit this is amazing you know what remember they had the spicy one they introduced the mild so like they one of their brands they got a little kick i actually it's not too spicy i do have a i don't want to be like i have a high spice tolerance because then people will be like oh really but like i have like a little bit of a high spice tolerance in general i i have you do i have some spice tolerance i would say i can taste the spice in here but it is not like in any way like painful it is only flavor whatever it's just it's great wow this is really good i like this one it is one of those things where it's like it's very indulgent feeling to be eating like a piece of fried chicken in between two biscuits but the taste is like a ten out of ten would you like to wash that down with a refreshing drink i feel like i'm slowly being murdered i can literally feel myself getting the fried chicken sweats a little bit you know so morgy says i once ordered iced tea in the u.s and didn't realize that you have to clarify to put sugar in it because in canada all the iced tea is sweet by default right i realize that what's interesting about that is that that's how i feel about the south also like in the south us like if you want not sweet tea you have to say unsweet tea and i have an unsweet tea yeah like if you i think if you ask for iced tea in north carolina you will probably get this not literally this but you know what i mean like you will probably get sweet this is a solid drumstick whoa you made short work of that oh i really like this is a good this is a solid drumstick i think it's interesting that canadian was saying oh i had to ask for more sugar stateside i'm just saying but i know you're saying that everywhere to vary so it's a big country so you go like out west maybe you know if you think also about like if you're doing a day trip from canada to the us you might like drive into like minnesota or like diagram falls like vermont although vermont i feel like it's a maple syrup land but i feel like probably up there there's a higher likelihood that that is true that this is like here ready this is steeped like we mean it right good right now yeah i was carly's like harley gotcha the rice carly goes if you don't eat the rice the chat is gonna kill you don't spoil your dinner there you go um yeah so this is what is this thing called a bow berry bow berry biscuit bow berry biscuit it does kind of sound also like the uh count chocula family right the boo berry cereal right so they're making good use of the berry it goes with everything berry berry kicks you know what i'm talking about i do actually know i'm vamping as you call the bow box i get it i'm picking up what you're putting down b squared baby i like bo you know i was thinking i was thinking before this i was like you know bj is kind of a tricky initial set to go with but they went with bo bo bohangales yeah we had two separate team members be like i thought about hong lease i thought i thought of that um anyway do you want for the rice do you want a spoon or a fork uh fork me put a fork in it right all right ready yeah so in this dirty rice it looks like there are pieces of meat right i think they're that might be what's dirty about it is it right there so it's not just seasoned rice it's like other things as well it's bits of chicken you like that yeah bring it in here bring it in for the real thing right that's extremely good that is very good tomato i guess it's like probably bits of like sausage or something like ground beef or ground sausage yeah that is awesome that's very good i'll take this i think that the like cajun filet biscuit had like a lot of flavor that i liked but i'm not sure that i could truly handle eating the whole thing but i feel like i could sit down and eat some of that for sure i had such a warped perspective about cajun cuisine because in the great food truck race season one a reference no one still gets even though we mentioned in our moving truck our moving video there's a truck called raging cajun and the guy just screams raging agent over and over again that is true and i'm like okay what's even happening and um yeah so that's all i got that's right and that story i don't know i've had the cuisine since then about to say that's one of the things recently has been influencing the way i perceive cajun food yeah some one strange guy on a sort of like a medium tier reality show 11 years ago at this point okay severely influenced by yours because we live in the vod world okay i just watched it recently okay they lost in santa fe which is where we were and we're talking about it so it all comes together know the landing okay anyway beau berry katie lindsay said the dirty rice is cajun rice with chopped up sausage so you were pretty on point i thought katie lindy was going to say i know this food truck reference it makes sense to me keep dreaming tyler is spot on with his references right now keep it up i liked the hook reference too that's a whole chat a single chat right right yeah all right and so let's finish off our bojangles section with some boboni gold biscuit bow berry bow berry bow berry biscuit bow berry biscuit yeah triple b oh yeah it's like the better business bureau but it's not i was going to say b squared i don't know why i missed one of the bees like how easy is this okay you want it you want i want you to get into it i like this glaze on top i also i don't want to be the person whose face chris zooms into so i'm going to let you do it all right for the non-uh oriented uh at home about this you know it's it's kind of crisp i'm saying it's a good thing too oh so i'm gonna come in yeah i guess let's do it the real why were we trying to do it that way i don't know there's this there's a spork okay when there's a sport on the table you use it okay that's my motto in life it's like a lemons thing right if you have lemons make lemonade i brushed my teeth twice okay you knew this would happen yeah you know you can pull a fast one on me how is it it's amazing okay it's like gooey it's incredible it smells really good oh well did someone answer me this is krispy kreme from north carolina yeah okay i've been craving krispy kreme i haven't gotten it since we've gotten here this thing is kind of quenching that glaze desire it does taste like a donut and one of the greatest ones are happening on the show tyler artsy author and cody marie all know the food truck reference and it makes them giggle every time thank you this is irrelevant all right this is a relevant person you've been exonerated yeah you've been exonerated yeah this one tastes okay so this is very good i want a great job um carly putting it in the tin foil big big ups for that because it is still warm yeah stroke of genius yeah the i like the glaze i like the blueberries yeah it does taste like a a doughnut to me maybe it's more like a cronut tastes like they go oh no it tastes like a cake donut you know i'm talking about like a dunkin donut i don't know like like a dough like a cakey doughnut yeah like a cakey doughnut yeah yeah yeah yeah exactly instead of a fried fluffy doughnut like one that's got more punch to it more substance inside i know what you're talking about yeah that's really good kind of like an edematous donut you know those ones right the plain edemas donut there's a whole family of them yes my dad used to get those those things are dangerous your dad has a really high sugar tolerance i envy the crap out of him yeah he can eat endlessly oh he's gotten taken off sugar i think i think that's been he's had a good run he's not really my mom's like no more sugar um but he's professional all right should we i'm gonna eat we'll eat this no everything is being saved yeah i really want this i just want to leave a little bit of room in the chamber what is that what was that thing that benlogical said he went he's closed we were at ghk factory like three years ago i think you needed to explain it a little bit yeah okay well he was eating we yeah we were eating a lot of food and cheesecake factory with christine and ben from simply no logical yeah been logical and he said when he was done case closed there was eight killed okay it was a good bit anyway what's next on our list here so yeah so that basically con concludes bojangles i thoroughly enjoyed it i think my favorite thing just based on like just initial bite taste alone was actually the cajun fillet biscuit but the dirty rice seems like something that we could eat more often and i i would like it the dirty rice is a winner the size were incredible uh the biscuits are i feel like chris is grabbing them chris just like crawled under the table to like receive the bojangles and then like scampered off he was like no name he spread it away you're just like absorbing it through his body and disappearing um i love the dirty rice incredible that last thing we ate maybe it's recency bias was unbelievable yes um and then the chicken drumstick of that i basically vacuum inhaled was awesome too you did that was like the thing that disappeared down the hatch baby that that is the matt stoney segment of our video yeah it was me eating fried chicken um anyway so we should we continue on do you think certainly what exactly certainly continue on our list so yeah bojangles two thumbs up uh biscuit biscuit bill what are we doing next which is uh what happened not to throw shade in any of them as a candidate for greatest name of all time all right biscuit film every time we drive by it memorable branding memorable name you know it's a ville okay um so it's biscuit it's biscuit deville yes uh i i feel like biscuitville is it like newish are you okay no chris is uh vetoing like okay he's just hard no no no no no so biscuitville is another fast food restaurant i will bring the things up in one second what you want your fun facts and i'll bring up yeah so you see that says biscuitville there business the one that's a biscuit bill yeah yes okay guys just make sure yes and that foil plate yeah look at these labels i know we are a professional stream here people um so biscuitville is another southern fast food chain um and it i think is like us the signature is like breakfast because it's open until 2 p.m yes only which is what created our whole get procuring conundrum yes of getting and then also throwing into oven hence the heat yes and i do agree that biscuitville has an amazing name yes um here are some fun facts about biscuitville biscuitville started as two bread stores in burlington north carolina back in 1966 called mountain brook fresh bread and milk oh my god look at that biscuit oh yeah that kid is going to town that kid took a big bite and then they've covered her mouth with the logo at the end but all right that was enough cut we got it we got it just cover her face yeah they soon moved on to making pizzas changing their name to pizzaville but started venturing into biscuits so they could open in the morning as well good choice yeah eventually their biscuits started out selling their pizzas so they switched over entirely in 1975. apparently the first official biscuit bill opened in virginia and not north carolina but it is a north carolina origin origin original company oh wow look at that pizza village that's cute actually yeah apparently the first biscuit bill too apparently that's the first biscuit fall look at their hats i know cute yeah i did ask carly if we had pizza today from biscuit bill but that's not even on the menu they didn't just lose the name because they're they're done with pizza to be fair that was like 45 years ago it's not like it's a recent development it was a recent development yeah um so yeah and there are a couple biscuit builds that we've driven by we've i've never set foot tried anything i have never anything a biscuit filled before no me neither but we have biscuits we've done the cheerwine now we have this thing the grits and the honey bun all right what is this called it's a spicy chicken and honey biscuit spicy chicken and honey biscuit oh i like the a little bit yeah yeah i like that part yeah i love that it feels good on the roof of your mouth yeah um i don't know i haven't really been able to eat cheese in a while i stopped eating cheese for health reasons and then i became a bit lactose intolerant um and so i forget how to eat cheese that's the precursor to the rest of our night yeah this preface is for both of us um for krusty for our cat but it does taste good i just i'm not used to cheese anymore but the texture of the grit i'm into and honestly it being old is okay like it doesn't matter yeah i had the last one that was like that i mean you should have this one all right bring it on here biscuit bill how how good is your biscuit right what's biscuitville's uh trademark i think it's a biscuit okay i guess i knew that it was oh fresh southern okay here we go let's see how fresh this is as i eat this fried chicken biscuit what's their motto um a little i mean that's like one of the greatest sandwiches ever uh oh yeah should i try it also i need yeah i mean this seems to be a winning combination like fried chicken patty plus biscuit it's like the crunchwrap supreme it's like some serious food engineering to get that point i'm not gonna ask you which one you like more i'm not gonna put you on blast like that we just got to north carolina we don't have to start a fight we don't have to make enemies this early well beaujolais is a chicken company that's going to give them an advantage on the chicken and then you got biscuits and biscuit company now you got two different things going on here they're a bit different this one has less of the spice the spice in the bojangles one was very very good unique yeah i got that seasoned cajun the combo in general is just very good all right let's keep this stream i think that the gravy and the grits were both new to me and i wasn't good i wasn't sure about them coming in but i liked them harley's got it there's a lot of dip the fries and gravy okay all right before we speak too soon here this is i'm sorry that's like the the frosty right you dip like your fries into the frosty like that's considered like the life of doing it that's the five minute craft i'm doing it yeah okay let's see is this like a sort of like southern poutine kind don't they put gravy in on fries in canada and cheese curds oh yeah all right diving in there so i've had a strong reaction to the peppercorn already so maybe peppercorn plus fries could be the winning combination here we do need to wait for sevilla that's a fantastic i like that a lot yeah but i weirdly like it better with the biscuits okay but it is definitely better than just like a plain fry obviously yeah it's very good it's good i actually really like the texture of the gravy i think that the texture of a second but anyway so cook out if you've been to north carolina you've seen it you love it um i've seen a million cars always parked outside of it it's hardcore um now quick fun fact there is a mall in southern california that has a drive-through um what's it called krispy kreme and it's got the longest line i've ever seen so krispy kreme north carol carolinian fast food place doing well in southern california too but cookout they have so much car traffic they need two two lanes all right i've never seen has two lanes so for those of you who don't know cookout is like another fast southern fast food chain obviously um i actually had heard of cookout before coming to north carolina um coming from california like people would say like oh like it's sort of like the in and out of north carolina or people would say things like uh in-n-out's not even good cookouts where it's at yeah so it's like one of those sort of um burger places that kind of like go head-to-head with like other cult favorite burger places five guys exactly in and out you know them they have all of those yeah what a burger totally yeah um and i think that the the the truth before tyler tries to expose us once again is that um we have been to a cookout before tyler has ordered a couple of things before yes but i have never really eaten anything from cookout even though i have been to a you've been in the car i've been in the car while cookout has been purchased because cookout is one of those places that is open until really late it's open till like three or four a.m it also has maybe the most intimidating menu i've ever been around yes um i get really flustered whenever i've gone through it because i i don't want to take a long time and there's a lot of cars so i always just say yeah they're like do you want this yeah yeah whatever are you sure you don't want that whatever you know yeah you're cool and then i never know what i'm gonna get so i've never actually ordered officially there's like a anyone who's ever been to a cookout knows what i'm talking about it's hard because also there's like multiple you can get things in like different combinations yeah you can get like a plate and then you get sides and you can order things that you might order as a main entree as a side like it's it's very it is actually not that confusing but it is one of those things like when you get to the point of ordering unless you know what you're gonna do everything flies out of your mind you're like there's like a red bar at the top that's got like the deals on it and it's confused and then i don't want to throw shade to the cookouts but they have like this weird microphone when they talk that's really it cuts really impressive i can't understand them she's like and i don't know what he's they're ever saying so i i get really flustered it's actually a miracle that tyler has actually ordered anything from there ever i always want to be like i've never been here before it's basically true the only thing i can relate to is being a philadelphian at like pat's and gino's like the famous like cheesesteak place they have like all these like verbiage that you're supposed to like wit means like onions and if you don't know it they like scream at you right cookout is not screamed at me right but internally i screamed at myself i actually would say the opposite if you say oh i need a second to order they're very nice about it yeah they're not like get out of my life and that's my like philly emphasis um all right so here are some fun facts about cookout the first cookout location opened in greensboro north carolina in 1989. most restaurants have no indoor seating but have two drive-throughs and a walk-up window for ordering yeah there that's the menu right that's that red thing yeah that's the menu um and they stay open later than most generally until 3am they're most well known for their famous milkshakes with 40 plus flavors 40 plus flavors and additional seasonal shakes like watermelon in the summer and eggnog in winter do you hear do you hear what i'm saying people yeah 40. i will also say that um based off of everyone who i have spoken to who grew up in north carolina or like went to school around here i feel like cookout is also notorious for like a place where shenanigans happen like chris and carly were like oh yeah like that's the chicken sandwich might not have aged well right so just take a grain of salt with it there's also a hidden chicken quesadilla something there there is apparently this is a quesadilla okay oh my god it's cute it is it is cute why do i find it cute it's just cute and small here is one of the things i've experienced in my very limited time going to cookouts is that they have like a kind of like home-cooked flavor to them they tend to like taste a little bit like yeah like like it was like grilled at like a like backyard cookout and i do feel like that this quesadilla has sort of like a thrown on the griddle top and quickly turned around do you know what i'm saying yes let's let's do should we divide and conquer a little bit feel like we should start with these things okay also because i have a fun fact about hush puppies all right hush me um do you want to start with the hush puppy and give you a fun fact yeah i want to hear the fun fact all right so um here are my fun facts about hush puppies um the name for hush puppies dates back to the late 1800s what are hush puppies just like fried dough right yeah it's just like fried corn meal i think fried cornmeal um and the origin of the name is at cookouts or fish fries people would fry some basic cornmeal to feed to their dogs to hush the puppies oh wow so it's literal yeah interesting so it's like dog friendly dog love cabbages man yes your cabbages yes yes my cabbages um that was really good not too much like mayonnaise or anything either i really like this this one's got layers i've gotten hit by some rounds of after flavor with this and it's got a little bit of a kick to it i like coleslaw that is mostly just cabbage a little sweet and not a lot of like mayo or anything you know what i mean i'm telling you cookout for being such a great orchestrated like well-known late-night drive-through place has a pretty flush fresh flavor i agree yeah i would say that although it is like junk food it doesn't feel that bad it feels kind of like oh just my friend's backyard cookout like it does actually taste sort of like that we haven't got the cheese portion yet that's true so let's not speak too soon all right so we have this is this fried cheese is that what we were saying yeah it's called white cheddar it's not quite mozzarella um here i'm gonna spear one it kind of looks like little um like shrimp poppers or something doesn't it doesn't kind of look like a little little guys a little shrimpy guys they look exactly like popcorn shrimp actually yeah that's what i mean shrimp poppers i don't know what i'm saying i know what you're talking about here you go cheers you like that that's very good you like that yeah you don't like that you're crazy i think i'm competing with the hush puppies too directly right now no that's better the hush puppies that one has like the hush puppies are like i think that maybe the fried dough is a little bit too much dough for me as a person whereas that i mean like a small mozzarella stick essentially you know what i do find mozzarella sticks to be a little excessive but this is smaller no i agree more approachable more approachable mozzarella i can do some marinara then i'm a big marinara guy now you're criticizing again i know i don't want to start a beef with cookout here but you don't because that's where all the high school fights get down they will turn those high schoolers on you [Laughter] yeah um i really like that that's very good i i would i like that should we do the dilla yes absolutely are we blowing through this one too fast right now i feel like we're just we're just jumping through the cookout that's how you do cookout thank you okay you eat it fast and go to sleep i'm very excited about it yeah there's just you know what it is though there's just so many options that i want to bounce around i don't want to favor one too many you know cheers cheers you know what that's a good question it a very simple quesadilla but it is probably the quesadilla that i would want at the end of a drunken night yeah like it's not it's not it's not an arrogant quesadilla it's it's not a self-important quesadilla it's not trying to do anything it just is it doesn't insist upon itself it does not insist upon itself it's not the godfather of quesadillas no it's just a tortilla and then there's some cheese in there and a little bit of a little bit of some spice and if that is what i would want some action sauce you know it's kind of like actually cookout yeah not to cut you off are you finished talking about the quesadillas mostly okay got it i think everyone wants me to be done so i think it's fine we're done with it it's kind of like a jbo jack in the box jack in the box i i see where you're coming from the opposability yes because jack in the box has a lot of different options but i will say that jack in the box can be off-putting sometimes personally well i think they're too sauce heavy well i actually think that like for example if you get the tacos sometimes you're like what what is this right oh it's not real meat is it soy i don't know what it is i don't know you don't like when you eat your food and you definitely don't know where it is but it's what i don't like is when it makes me stop to consider what it is yeah like if it was so good that i was just like yeah this is a taco i don't care whatever it's great i'd be like wait when i eated jack-in-the-box taco i'm like really what is this carly i hope i didn't wrestle too many feathers with my comparison to jaybo i don't want to throw a cookie out under the bus here because i think that i'm not a big jaybo fan but i do really like cookout because i think jbog's too heavy with the sauces but it does have like that variety of food that jaybo does have i agree it does have a variety i like this okay should we go in for the chicken sandwich yeah okay so this is the chicken sandwich which might not have aged that well but we're going to give it a fighting chance that's what i heard yeah carly gave me a few disclaimers before we started the stream and one was about this i appreciate that yeah so we know going in okay here we go a lot of close-up shots of my hands and my face is it blotchy yeah it's okay okay yeah it's kind of blotchy how is it as we all silently watch and listen to your eat oh my whole mind get out um it's i think it's great i appreciate the heads up because the bun is a little soft but that's a great chicken sandwich the piece of chicken is excellent if you went protein style you might be able to really amp it up a notch yeah ramp it up a notch that is good yeah that's a good chicken sandwich quality i think the only thing that hasn't aged well in the bag was the bun is like a little soggy probably because it was right up next to that tomato yeah but the piece of chicken is very good the tomato is the moist maker as ross geller would call it yeah absolutely bring in some of that moisture into there is what's the one that we're not supposed to say moist yeah people don't like moist yeah just put this away for now which brings us i believe i don't think i'm jumping the gun here no to one or two of the 40 flavor opportunities from cook cookout and these are the marquee items there's at least one straw if i missed something yeah well one of them is the cheerwine float is it really yeah you hear that sofia so one of them is not even it's a milkshake it is a cheerleader this straw out from the bojangle sweet tea dude one thing i've been noticing in the stream by the way is that with our new sound plugs in the windows i have no idea what time of day it is right now why do i feel like we've been in here for like 20 hours it's 4 a.m it's the russian sleep experiment creepy pasta it's because it's it's cause a cookout it's because everyone goes to cook out at like 4am it's at 3am it could be yeah somewhere it is somewhere it's 3am all right so which one's the cheerwine flip i think before the stream she planted all those comments about how you can't eat cookout not drunk yeah carly's like we're gonna need a little extra spice in that late face oh spice um great all right well we're in the late phase of our stream here have we made enemies do you think certainly i don't think so oh harley doesn't think carly in the chat says no maybe i'm just prepared i'm just prepared why are we terrified i don't talk about fast food chains because i feel like when like people are very like loyal and protective over their like local fast food chains like the local joints yeah the go-to's exactly so i don't want to like judge anything too harshly it's kind of like the weird fight in our comment section between wawa and sheets right this eternal battle that no one cares about explaining what those things are okay so one was like essentially like the go-to philadelphian chain it's just a convenience store so it's like a really souped-up 7-eleven and it does have touch screens which is dope and they've got everything now so it's a really good place and it's 24 7. yes sheets i believe is like the maryland slash virginia equivalent and they also also sell gas and that's one dynamic you might bump into one of their gas stations and they hate each other right and they're always at each other's throats and i noticed a fair amount of sheets is better than wawa comments along the way in our moving vlog so i think that they it's it's kind of like being a sixers fan and a celtics fan where like you really own up to it so with that said if anyone out there talks trash and chair wine i think you're gonna establish your dominance as a wawa fan i like wawa it's fine yeah but no cheerwine's where it's at yeah no yeah don't talk ill of cookout yeah biscuitville or the bow the bow bow hungalist thank you i actually forgot for a second bojangles yeah do not dare talk ill overall i actually really enjoyed all this food i had a great time i am a little bit light-headed at this point because i think everything's catching up to me but i liked it all should we nail our outro here i would before we nail the outro i will say that i was impressed by the breadth of offerings yeah because i feel like when you think fast food you think like burger and fries and not only did we have like different variations on the burger with like the biscuit as the bun we also had different fried items we had grits we had gravy lots of biscuits you know we just had a lot of different things we had like a pile of pulled pork we had you know coleslaw we had i now i forget everything but we have a quesadilla did you forget the hush puppies the hush puppies you forget the grits no i think i said grits okay i think i said grits honey bun the honey bun so i just feel like there were a lot of different things that we had today so i think that's actually probably to me one of the most impressive things so we've learned a lot today we've learned a lot today uh and uh we've ate a lot today yes and i think we hit all the rungs of the food pyramid and yeah and i think that it's time for us to say i do is that it yeah bit everyone i do anyway so um that was
