here at the real we are a family we know just how vital each family member is when we heard that one of our fans had never met her father we knew we had to help take a look Jody Schmidt grew up without her father Kevin she went to college got married and had three kids all without knowing much about her dad what she also didn't know is that her dad was trying his hardest to find his only daughter Joey Kevin Johnson had lost track of his daughter when Jody was just a baby her mother left the military where the two met and moved away without giving Kevin any information without a way to contact each other they both moved on with their lives that is until one evening four years ago Kevin Johnson found his old love and mother of his daughter on Facebook he hadn't talked to her in 33 years he sent Kathy a message about their daughter Jody and was stunned by what happened next Meredith now is Jody Smith thank you so much for joining us thank you for having me so like we just heard in the story your dad reached out to your mom on Facebook and what happened next well um first she screamed for me to come upstairs so that I could look at the message and it said are you Jody's mom and I said is that him and she showed me a picture and she said yep I'd say that to him and um so she sent him a message and said yes and he sent one back with his phone number and so she called him and they had a conversation she had him on speakerphone and he didn't know that she lived with me yeah and so they were talking on speakerphone and he said so what does Jody think of me think about me and my mom says well why don't you ask her and he handed me the phone oh and I said hi dad and he crept for half an hour Wow Wow now what's kept the two of you from meeting so far um well he had an accident in the 90s so he's on disability mm-hmm so he's on a you know limited income and I was gonna buy a plane to get a couple years ago to go see him and a month before I was gonna buy my ticket my husband walked out oh and so for the past two years I've been doing with the divorce I'm sorry about that okay and didn't think I was at we're gonna be able to make it work so I tried right you know guys what and y'all contacted me back within 24 hours and I was shocked cuz that's what we'd like to do okay not ask you are you ready to meet your father absolutely he's here now come on out Kevin [Applause] Google in the family reunion look at there oh my god Oh shake it here let's take it here welcome to the show cat see you have a thief oh my god it's crazy how you got into a child around your father okay the love is instant yeah what are you feeling right now how does it feel to meet your your only daughter I feel like a piece of my spirit is back with me again I've become more of a spiritual person in the last couple of years I was missing something but not anymore how you feeling Jodi overwhelmed yeah yeah I'm not trying to be funny don't even pay attention to none of us have your moment girl yeah like that's your dad like I just to see you guys holding each other and I could say you're just trying to soak in the moment you know I know please how does it feel for you to have been looking for your dad for so long and to find out that he in return has been looking for you and that love finally connect how did that feel it was quite amazing cuz I didn't know what the circumstances were and whether you know he was ever looking for me and when I found out when I read the message that he sent my mom my heart just started dumping in my chest like it is right now one two you got a good looking daddy he's a beautiful girl on Ehlo but I just love my most right now is I think you know most of us know what it's like how how it feels to be daddy's little girl and we're like you guys haven't missed a year of beets nothing you just you can use natural Wow so we like well we don't want this reunion to stop just here so we am Jody we wanted you to meet this only grandmother that you have so we are taking care of your airfare to head out there and meet that only grandmother that you've got to connect this family together [Applause] what you shot a responsibility you just can't just go you know you got to do something Samara tell her what she got to do what does she have oh yeah you have to keep us posted okay and you'll have to send us pictures okay of course you must do that we wish you guys the best
