Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
Given that pricing seems to be between $400-420, this processor is dead on arrival. Even the most die-hard Intel fans who refuse to buy Ryzen would just go for 10th generation.
TL;DW:
- slower in some games than 10700K
- about on par with 5800X in games (lose/win some)
- 5800x meanigfully better in productivity benchmarks
- did not easily overlock in meaningful manner (OC video coming later)
- at the current retail price not worth recommending
= pretty much waste of silicon (at current price)
10th gen are some of the best value CPUs actually available on the market right now. Snap 'em up before the worse 11th comes lol.
Glad i got a 10900 for $299 a few months ago
Purchased an i7 10700 (Non-K) and a Threadripper 3990X. I love them both.
This is probably the sort of thing that happens when you have a CFO, whose only qualification is an MBA, playing CEO for nearly two years. Even someone like Gelsinger can't turn quickly turn around what is essentially a juggernaut of a battleship.
Interesting how similar this generation is to Sandy Bridge (2000 i series) & Bulldozer(FX CPUs), but in reverse.
AMD's Zen 3 CPUs are looking to have the same longevity as Sandy Bridge did back in the day. the first meaningful upgrade for the 2700k was the 8700k that launched six years later. An R7 or R9 Zen 3 CPU is going to last you ages.
Then you have Intel launching power hungry flat stinkums that no one is recommending. Biggest difference than back then is the performance is still great for mainstream workloads. Bulldozer got curb stomped in just about every performance aspect.
The 10700k is a $249 monster at this point. It's really hard to take this new generation seriously in light of that.
Thank you AMD for making 10th Gen the best bang for buck in the business
