the whole situation with Warhammer 40K getting slammed with wokeness is a real mess and it's seriously ticking me off look Warhammer 40K has never been about sunshine and rainbows it's a dark brutal Universe where humanity is hanging by a Fred and every faction is out to get the others it's supposed to be grim and gritty not a feel-good everyone's welcome kind of place Warhammer which was once a Bastion of unapologetically brutal and lwr storytelling now Teeters on the brink of what I and many other long-standing fans view as a narrative catastrophe let me set the stage here Warhammer is a universe that was so good at storytelling World building and law creation that it literally originated a whole new subgenre of speculative fiction called Grim dark in contrast to this glorious past Games Workshop now wants to introduce female Space Marines traditionally the law explicitly states that only male candidates undergo the grueling and often lethal transformations to become these superhuman Warriors this wasn't a decision born from sexism or exclusion but part of a deeply woven narrative fabric that supported the universe's overarching themes of sacrifice and monastic Warrior culture changing this isn't just a tweak it's a foundational upheaval that questions the Integrity of the law itself and it's not just about the gender of Space Marines the law of Warhammer number 40K has always been about the Grim reality of a corrupt human Empire teetering on the brink of Destruction it's about The Human Condition under the most extreme circumstances to dilute this by enforcing modern-day moral standards about diversity and inclusivity onto a universe that was specifically designed to explore darker themes is frankly missing the point for many of us Warhammer was an escape a complex often morally ambiguous universe that dared to explore themes of fascism zealotry and the very essence of conflict it was a narrative built not on the Norms of our world but in the operatic scale of cosmic horror and Relentless Warfare by dragging modern-day politics into this the essence of what made Warhammer 40K Stand Out is being diluted Games Workshop has been repeatedly pushing this agenda that Warhammer is for everyone They Came Out Swinging with statements about diversity and inclusivity right after the George Floyd protests in 2020 saying they diversify characters so everyone could find a hero they relate to I mean come on war Hammer's appeal was never about seeing yourself as a hero in this nightmare Galaxy it's about the Epic scale of Despair and the Relentless struggle for survival the changes they're making are just Bonkers they're messing with the law pushing female custodes and twisting the game's history to fit their new woke narrative ative this isn't just a few tweaks here and there it's a fullon rewrite that's got a lot of fans including me pretty riled up they're even getting accused of gaslighting their own Community trying to make it look like we're the ones out of step with the times it's not just annoying it feels like a betrayal what's more frustrating is the manner of these changes it's not done with care or respect for the source material but seems more a reaction to social media trends and vocal minorities on internet forums the result a law that feels disjointed a patchwork of old Grim dark elements uncomfortably coexisting with new ideologically driven narratives that feel shoehorned in this isn't just about resisting change change when done to enhance a story or expand on its Universe can be invigorating but when change is done purely for the sake of ticking off diversity checkboxes or avoiding online backlash it becomes a disservice not only to the narrative but to the audience who has followed this universe for decades entered a new era of Warhammer 40K a period where Games Workshop the creators of this expansive Universe seem to have succumbed to external pressures of political correctness and inclusion now on the face of it inclusivity isn't a negative concept but the implementation here it's a hamfisted fiasco that disrespects established law and alienates the core fan base and why why mess with of a formula that's worked so well it seems like it's all for the sake of looking good in front of a new crowd throwing the loyal fan base under the bus while they're at it it's like they're desperate to prove how Progressive they are even if it means chucking out what made Warhammer great in the first place it's not just about adding diversity it's about how they're doing it by undermining the very essence of the game honestly this whole shift feels forced Warhammer 40K was never meant to be a mirror of our society or its politics it was supposed to be an escape a way to explore themes of conflict and survival against a backdrop so Bleak that the real world seemed a bit brighter by comparison by dragging modern identity politics into it they're not enriching the game they're diluting it they're turning a unique fantasy Universe into just another Battleground for contemporary social issues which feels out of place to the decision makers at Games Workshop we get it the world is changing and businesses need to adapt but please remember what made Warhammer 40K a legend in its own right it was never about being a mirror to our society but about being a dark reflection of a far-flung nightmarish future if this trend continues I fear for the future of the franchise not just in terms of its narrative Integrity but its fan base and Community Spirit Warhammer 40K is about war not woke to sum it all up games workshops push to make make Warhammer 40K woke is ruining the core of what many of us loved about the game it's a universe that was never meant to be nice or inclusive it's about war death and survival Against All Odds making it politically correct doesn't make it better it just makes it another generic franchise losing its Edge they need to remember what
