hi I'm Isaac and I love VR I have played VR since the launch of the Quest 2 and I liked it so much that about 3 years later on launch I bought the quest 3 and to this day I have not regretted my decision once VR has been making headlines over the past year or so some positive and some negative on one hand we have the Quest 2 which I would argue revolutionized the gaming Market since this option gave us an affordable but also quality VR option that would be adopted by a larger portion of the public on the other hand there's also some VR news specifically retaining to meta and their dumb decisions Horizon's world and the way meta tried to Market and create the metaverse was well stupid aside from a very small minority of people nobody really wanted it at least the one meta was trying to provide most people are not really trying to fully integrate their lives with VR because with how it is today for some people VR just doesn't really work that being said well I don't think VR with how it is now is necessarily going to be the future for all things related to working and gaming I do think a better version of it will definitely be a part of our future especially when it comes to gaming VR at least with how it is now in the grand scheme of things is still kind of new there are parts of it that I do think are amazing now but there are also other parts specifically one part that I believe is a major problem for the VR industry if you want a quick summary of what I'm going to say regarding VR Hardware I think it's good I think that VR Hardware in its current form is honestly great and there are no problems with it yes it's not a one to one with real life and the form factor isn't a pair of glasses but when specifically talking about the quest 3 and 2 there is nothing that really makes me think that it's bad the visuals are fine there are no real problems and I think that the resolution even on the Quest 2 is perfectly acceptable most of the time when you're playing a game you honestly won't really even notice it when it comes to comfort after buying an additional headstrap I think both headsets have no real problems the only thing I could think of that may be a problem is that the Quest 2 is a bit front heavy but all you really need to do to fix it is throw a battery Bank on the back of the headstrap and then looking at the greater VR Hardware Market in accessories while expensive I think is also perfectly fine we have full body tracking at various price points hap dicks and VR treadmills all of these are not mandatory but if you want to take your gaming session to the next level these are all perfectly good options VR Hardware with how it is now is honestly perfectly acceptable it looks good it plays well and at an entry level it's quite affordable the main problem that motivated me to write this script and make this video is not the hardware and it's not even the metaverse it's the software when I say software I am not talking about the UI yes could the UI be improved here or there yeah 100% when I say software what I really mean is just the games that we can actually play on the surface a lot of people may not think this is much of an issue heck almost 4 years ago I didn't when getting into VR there is a seemingly endless amount of games to play halflife Alex into the radius Pavlov contractors super hot beatsaber blade and sorcery gorilla Tech and so many more this is just a small sample of what is out there but even though there are a lot of games software is still an issue when looking at VR from an Outsiders perspective there may be a lot of games but in reality when it comes to games with replayability or a substantial amount of gameplay inside this massive list of games starts to dwindle now I'm not saying there are no good VR games out there that appeal to my arbitrary qualifications of what makes a game good there are games out there with an outstanding amount of substance and quality and there are games out there that have massive amounts of replayability but after you play that handful of games there really isn't a lot for example let's look at super hot super hot was my first VR game I purchased and completed I beat the main story in around 2 hours and over the following 1 to two weeks I played the endless mode and played the story for roughly an additional 20 hours but after learning this game to this degree I could only replay the game so much and just eventually stopped to this day I don't really play the game and I only really open it when I'm showing it to other people a lot of single player games have this problem even if the core idea of the game is really good chances are there is not a lot of content within the game and the extra content that is in the game is either something really basic meant to kill time or it relies on the game being designed in a sandbox format blade and sorcery is a great example of this this game has some of the best VR combat my little meat fingers have ever touched however at this point I have had it for nearly over 3 years and as of right now I only really play the game once every two to 3 months when there's a new update or when I have nothing else to play thankfully I am happy to say that blade and sorcery is finally getting its full release however this game was in Early Access for so long and if one of the best VR games was in Early Access in an unfinished State think about all the other games that were not as successful as blade and sorcery and the state that those games may be in multiplayer games are a bit different since they don't follow your traditional singleplayer game format but the problem with multiplayer games is that for the most part it's up to the players to to keep a game interesting and once people eventually start to walk away from games the lack of content in them becomes more and more evident a very quick example would just be the game contractors contractors is probably one of the best FPS games in VR however I'm not going to lie the game is honestly held up by the modding Community another game Zenith the last city is by far one of the largest disappointments in VR this game had almost everything massive s huge Investments and Promises to update the game and to make it even better but once the hype settled down people realized how empty the world was and people started to leave to add insult to injury the devs struggled to stay on track with their own promised content schedule they promised a new class called the Cyber ninja within a year fast forward a year and a half later we got the Cyber ninja but it was only a third of the way done they then transitioned to a free-to-play model and after that I honestly personally just gave up on it now I'm not going to act like I know everything and the causes and solutions of these problems this software problem could be traced to different causes one of the causes could just be a lazy de team case in point Zenith the last City some people say that VR is new and it will take time for Debs to fully understand the best way to make smashit VR games and other people say it's the lack of money VR is much smaller than other platforms and it does generate less Revenue a lot of what I said here is my opinion whether people agree or disagree with me we will find out some people may disagree with me about this even being a problem and some people may agree with me but also disagree about what's causing it or what games are a problem whatever it is it needs to be solved because without good and high quality software there will be no future for VR
