Thank you for doing your homework properly, there's been so many misrepresentation of the position before.

Also, to you and everyone else here: feel free to report content that expresses dislike against children and babies, since that's completely off topic.

Oh and by the way, this is a hangout sub. Yes, of course the ranting and such is present, but where else should a lot of those people be able to do that with the omnipresent natalism?

You should check out r/askanantinatalist perhaps.

Well, I gotta say this video was definitely a lot better than I expected, whenever people who aren't anti-natalists make videos about antinatalism, they usually either misrepresent it or make some very weak arguments against it, and it makes obvious they don't know what they're talking about.

I really like that he actually gave a proper introduction on the arguments for antinatalism, and what he agrees and disagrees about the philosophy, instead of straw manning it like most people do.

In this subreddit's defence, it is one of the few places where people can openly voice their frustration with the ignorance that goes on in the world. Most of us agree on about 90% of what Antinatalism is about, so there isn't really much to debate. Also, if someone is to bring up a talking point, it's not like their post is lost beneath the memes. People always engage in discussions in good faith.

I see some posts every now and then that, in my opinion, either take it too far or are only tangentially related to AN, but I don't want to people to be silenced, especially those who have just recently learned about AN and are disgusted with the world.

I'm sure the solution to the Fermi Paradox is:

a) We really are the first civilization to arise, or

b) More probably, all civilizations eventually go extinct, some by choice.

Life is just not a good deal. You are bound to endlessly fullfil needs and desires, you are in a base state of lack and suffering. You are met with impositions and structures you didn't consent to. You are subject to trauma, abuse, frustration, heartbreak. Why would anyone rational enough still choose this instead of nothingness eludes me. You don't lose anything by not having sentience around, in fact I'd say you win by avoiding useless suffering, a fluke in the physical world, an useless residue.

Antinatalism is going mainstream. Prepare for it. There's something about this generation, some kind of existential and societal consciousness that is going through a different type of rebellion than our ancestors did.

13:00 oh here we go again, "edgy" and "you can't complain, just theorize!" like we truly could detach our suffering from the philosophy, or that it doesn't serve any purpose. This is a basic defense mechanism against "negativity", a bias in action. There's no such thing as bad publicity, though, so good for us lol.

This video taught me something about my antinatalist views. Although not being born is preferred I absolutely donโ€™t care what other people do. I have my views but I donโ€™t judge. For me antinatalism means accepting what you canโ€™t control. Like other peopleโ€™s views and just letting them be. I am grateful I found antinatalism and I will never bring another person into this world. I feel sorry for those being born but their existence is not my concern. I guess I am a selfish antinatalist.

It is actually a very well made video. I liked how he stands neutral in regard.

I guess we all have our reasons to be antinatalists. But at the root of it, I think itโ€™s because we have the awareness to acknowledge that weโ€™ve faced the worst of what life has to offer. Modern life has twisted us into turning against it.

Solar sands said he is an antinatalist on Twitter a while back ago

Actually discovered this whole philosophy from his video, was honestly surprised to find out thereโ€™s a whole group of people who have the same feelings about birth, so many of the same ideas ran through my head all the time before even knowing what antinatalism thing so thatโ€™s cool.
