Vocal Coach REACTS to DIMASH LOVE IS LIKE A DREAM

hey guys how you doing welcome to my channel the mindful singer where we take performances from your favorite singers and talk about what makes these performances so amazing my name is william i'm a vocal coach and a music educator and in today's video i'm going to be watching for the first time dimash singing love is like a dream i'm super stoked as this comes highly recommended but just to let you know moving forward with reaction videos here on this channel if it's a song that i'm familiar with or video that i've seen or an artist that i've heard before i'll let you know and offer more of let's get started with today's video dimash could i begin so excited [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] i'm not sure i'm hearing this very well [Music] all right gonna stop there for just a second i'm really loving the onset of this piece the the very first phrase he sang he was obviously using fry voice but he was using the fry register and the fry voice really uh spoken like but then as he began to sing he had an onset kind of initiated with use of fry as well um i'm liking this so far it's uh quite different from the other two pieces that i've heard i've seen the strings though in the background but i'm not i'm not hearing much of it through the headphones but let's keep [Music] it listening [Music] [Music] is [Music] all right i am really loving the phrasing that the match is doing it's very gentle and very uh in internal more like personal and intimate and i love him sitting on the stool and just spinning these gorgeous phrases totally supported by the breath but with this very thin pianissimo singing just being able to to support a thread of tone on on that breath and use of diction to bring it forward it's very forward very speech-like very conversational very intimate very gorgeous so let's keep going where is [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] all right i'm gonna stop there i've noticed that he's adding more weight to the voice singing more fully as the text of the music is getting more hopeful uh he's building that dynamic so let's see where he goes from here absolutely lovely i'm absolutely loving this it's so different from what i've heard the other two times but i'm really really liking this [Applause] there is [Music] so much text painting going on here with dynamics and [Music] of crazy [Music] [Music] such pure tone [Music] [Applause] heartbeat wow that expression [Music] singing about happiness and it's just like joyful at this point [Music] wow all right an area of technique i was highly impressed i talked a lot about his phrasing about his onsets his offsets just gorgeously done a lot of text painting he was doing technical things to enhance the text it was just beautifully done technically of course it's the mosh in the area of musicality i really liked this piece i really liked the arrangement i like what he was doing musically i liked the scoring i had a little trouble first hearing the the strings but they came through i'm not sure if that was a sound issue or what but they were full bowing in earth like nothing that i was hearing i was hearing synthesized uh strings but not not them um but it was gorgeous in the area of artistry i was blown away with the text painting that's really an artistic endeavor um how he was using different tonalities and different uh you know ways of emoting and expressing the music it was absolutely breathtaking he was really being a servant to the music and that's what makes him such an amazing singer as well he doesn't only bring his interpretation but he he serves the music uh very humbly even with all of his showmanship there's this humility in this intimacy that you you have when you hear him sing that's just extraordinary in the area of presentation i adored the way this was presented it wasn't the same stance as the other two that i've seen where he's on stage with with huge gestures it was just so intrinsic it was so personal it was so intimate it was like sitting in a living room hearing him share his heart and it was just so beautifully done in the area of stage presence and presentation overall impressions i was highly impressed with this but from a totally different angle from what i've heard before i was impressed with his ability to sustain energy on threads of tone like a lot of times when singers sing softer they lose that engagement it's almost like they have to do the fireworks all the time to keep keep you in engaged but this was so simply done even the counter tenor section of this was done with such pure tonality this was just so gorgeous it's so intimate and i liked the differences of this performance than the other two that i've heard it was just absolutely
