[Music] every one Tim from vmix here and today we're looking at overlay channels in V mix it's really easy to quickly overlay content onto your production using the overlay channels any of you have a mix inputs can be overlaid into custom channels that you can create want to put a video here or here or graphics and titles down here you can add those areas to an overlay channel and then it's just one click to place it there so let's jump to it and I'm going to show you how you can use overlays in B mix so here we are in the V mix interface now underneath each of your inputs you'll see a number one two three and four now by pressing these buttons here you can turn on and off the overlay channels so for example if I want you to overlay my title that I have here and click number one it's going to overlay and I can press it to turn it off again so in order to set up these different locations for your overlay channels you just need to go to the overlay section down the bottom here now this is the location in which you can configure all of your overlay channels so up the top here you can see number so we can select one through four for your different overlay channels and so we're just going to work on number one here so the type we have here is full-screen now in V mix as you saw before I selected one of the title templates so I've added a title template down here now all of the title templates that we have in their mix are going to be fullscreen they're not going to be in set or picture-in-picture that are full width of the screen so if you've got a lower third title from BMX you're probably going to want to use full screen for this option now the effect that's selected here is cut which means it's instantly going to be shown in the output now I can change this to something like a fade a wipe a zoom and then adjust the effect duration for example I could set this to fade and then I could use the effect duration of 500 milliseconds or anything that I want to choose there so that's half a second that the transition effect will take so for the fade bear but I just want to use the cut now because I'm using a cut it's going to be instant it's going to ignore the effect duration here so the duration here is how long the overlay stays up for so how long it's going to be displayed if you leave it as zero it's going to disable with that duration which means that you have to manually turn on the overlay and turn it off again so for example before when I click that number one it overlaid and then when I pressed it again it then took it away so what I'm going to do now is actually set up a duration so I'm gonna make this five seconds so the overlay is going to last five seconds when I use it underneath that we've got stinger we don't need to worry about that we can choose the alpha or the transparency of the overlay we don't want to mess around with that because we don't want it to have any transparency underneath that is the picture-in-picture settings which we'll go over a little bit later on so as a recap in the overlay channel 1 we've got a full screen overlay the effect is a cut the duration is five seconds so it's going to be displayed for five seconds and that's it so we're going to click OK down the bottom now as you can see here I've got my title I just click one it's going to display and then it's going to go away when I set it to 5 seconds later and now it's gone so that's how you can set up a title as a full screen overlay now I'm going to show you how to set up a picture in picture I'm going to go back to overlays and then I'm going to select number two from the list now from the drop-down menu by default on a full screen but I need to select picture in picture and then I can choose the effect that I want to use so I'm actually going to use a slide for this the effect duration half a second that's fine and for the duration I'm going to make this zero so by leaving at zero I choose when the overlay goes on and when it goes off underneath that we have the stinger information they're asking videos if you want to check out our YouTube channel for that now underneath that we have alpha so we can ship it set the transparency I'm not going to add any transparency to it underneath that we have the picture-in-picture information so we have the ability to change where the overlay is going to be so what I'm gonna do now is I can use my mouse I can left click on this red box here and move it around and I can hold down shift to zoom in and zoom out I'm gonna hold down shift and put it in the top corner like so now I can adjust all of these manually as well if I wanted to using these sliders and I can also rotate it on different axes if I want to make it look a little bit cool like so I'm just going to reset that underneath that I can set a border using the overlay channels color thickness and the radius if I want to rounded rectangle okay so as a quick recap for what we've set up for channel number two we've got a picture-in-picture it's going to slide in that will take half a second a duration is set to zero which means that we manually turn it on and turn it off and then underneath that we've set up the picture-in-picture information so I'm gonna click OK so now I can choose one of my videos I'm going to put that into the top corner and as we mentioned before because we set the duration to zero I'm actually controlling when it goes on and when it goes off like so so all these overlay channels can be used together for example I could put this as a picture-in-picture here I can overlay my title I could throw my camera again up here so I can have it multiple times I can move that out I could have breaking news over here turn that off so they can all be you know works together I can even put multiple ones in different locations as well so I've got multiple cameras here as you can see and you can also use the overlay channels with the input multi-view so if you wanted to use the input multi view system in V mix which is a way to layer a number of inputs together to create a scene you can add 10 layers in the input multi view and then you could also have four additional overlay channels that you can temporarily use as well now another feature of using the overlays is being able to use the overlay zoom so what I can do is bring this into the shot here and then using the right mouse click I can then bring that out fullscreen I can zoom it use the right mouse click and bring it back again if you wanted to preview your overlays you can do that by right clicking the number and it will appear in the preview section if you want to transition that across I just need to select another video behind it in transition this across and it will overlay again to turn it off I just need to click the button like so the overlay channels work with mimic shortcuts and triggers as well so you can set up your keyboard X keys MIDI controller stream deck Xbox controller to be overlaying different things in your production so your titles your picture in picture you can set all of that up program using the shortcuts and also using triggers as well so may give you a quick example of the shortcut functions we got a shortcut here then I can go to add she's gonna use a here so for the functions there's an overlay section so there's a whole lot of different things you can do with the overlays here for example I can just go over weight input 2 which is a toggle which means I press the button it'll turn on the overlay turn it back off again and I can select which input goes there so for example I want to do this Sydney video I'm gonna click okay so basically now when I press the a key it's going to use the overlay channel 2 and it's going to put this video into that channel I'll click OK so now I'm just going to press the a key here going to overlay the Sydney video and I can press it again to turn it off so those functions are also available in the V mix triggers as well so for example if I go to this video here I can go to the trigger section and I can say for example when I transition this in I want to overlay input 1 channel and select my title add this so when I transition in this video it's automatically going to overlay into channel 1 my title so I'm going to set that up like so so when I prefer when I transition this to the output I was going to overlay my title so I didn't actually have to do anything for that to work so there are plenty videos on our YouTube page regarding shortcuts and triggers as well if you want to check those out so if you do have
