hey everyone it's monkey I wanted to present to you another option for installing mods for valheim I'm going to walk you through installing R2 modman off of thunderstore it's one of the easiest mod manager installs I've done so stick around and let's jump into it this is a reminder there's going to be a link in the description to R2 mod man you should really only need that one link because once this mod manager is installed you can actually look up the mods you need through the manager itself which is a very nice touch so we're going to start off by clicking on manual download this is the one thing we have to install manually is the R2 mod man we'll click on manual download pick a location to download it to I send mine to my downloads folder once you are in your downloads folder take that Zip drive you downloaded right click on it select extract all you can extract it into the same folder or convenient folder it doesn't really matter wherever you extracted it to you want to open it up and you're going to want to run this R2 mod man setup executable we're just going to pick profile only I'm using the default path in this case now you may get a warning that Windows Defender May block the install and you'll have to say go ahead and install it anyway this didn't happen for me because I've actually installed this mod before so I've already given it permission but if this is the first time installing this mod you may have to go through that little permission dialog once it's installed you can just click on finish the app will launch and it'll bring you to this game selection screen you're just going to type in val for valheim and you can either click on select the game or set it as default I'm going to set mine as default select what platform you're playing on whether it's Xbox game pass or Steam and it's going to run through some initial setup I just click on the select profile button by default I don't need to create a new profile and we don't have any mods installed which makes sense right but you can either click on the click here to install mods or you can just go to online on the left over here the first thing we're going to do right off the bat is the pinned mod this actually tends to provide a lot of support for other mods for valheim and it's one of the first ones that we're going to be installing so this bepen EX pack underscore valheim just go ahead and click on download it with dependencies and then we'll close that another mod we want to get is the configuration manager so just type in configuration and we want to get the official beppany X configuration manager this will give us the ability to open a UI in game or pregame that lets us change the settings for all of our mods that way we don't have to use any notepad edit the CFG file sort of stuff going on so this is a great mod for configuring all of your other mods when you're in game same thing download with dependencies get the latest version and then a couple game specific mods that I'm playing with right now one would be so right here Epic Loot click on download it this is all the same process we just download it with dependencies it grabs all the latest version of everything another one that I'm using is Farm grid Farm grid allows you to see your plant spacing for your plants it helps you kind of get them in the ground a little bit faster it also allows you to get the spacing right for trees so that you don't accidentally crowd each other out or for carrots or beets you know turnips and stuff like that so your plants don't accidentally crowd each other out it's a very nice qol sort of mod one more mod we're going to grab is called Pathfinder what this mod does is it allows you to customize the explore radius that like reveals the fog of War on your map using different different features so for example when you're on a boat your explore radius will grow a little bit larger if you're in the forest or in fog and stuff like that your explore radius will be decreased so the weather plays a role where you're where you're at physically plays a role in your explore radius now if you've been watching any of my valheim playthrough the latest play through I use a mod off of Nexus called fog of War explore radius this Pathfinder mod from thunderstore does almost exactly the same thing the reason why I'm suggesting Pathfinder here is because thunderstore doesn't have the fog of War mod so we're going to go with this one instead and see how it works same deal walk through the same the download process at this point all of the mods that we've clicked to download are already installed that's it if you want to play the game uh with no mods you just want to go and play it vanilla you click on start vanilla if you want to play the game with your mods you click on start modded so what we're going to do is we're just going to launch the game once you're in the game you're gonna see a message in the upper left hand corner saying running beppany X Etc you'll also see a warning in the lower right hand corner you're not going to see that on my screen because I I play mine in Ultra wide but you will be able to use the hotkey F1 to bring up configuration manager that'll show you all the mods that you have installed and you can click to open whichever mod you want to change the settings on it's a lot easier to do it this way than going through and finding all the dot CFG files for the mods you installed you can just use configuration manager and make all the settings changes you want right on this menu here or you can also do it in game I'm actually going to hop in game real quick just to verify that I mean I can tell right now that looks like the mods are all installed but I'm just going to jump into the game to double check that everything is up and running properly okay I'm in game and I can see by the color on the icons for my equipment that Epic Loot looks to be installed properly I can see all the tool tips on there I'm going to take my uh my hammer that has throwball and recalling on it and I'm gonna see if it's throwable and recalling just to verify that the mods work success so that's all I feel like I need to verify that my mods are up and running again if you wanna change your mods in game the hotkey by default is F1 I recommend hitting tab to open up your inventory first so that your mouse cursor is invisible and then you can just hit F1 go in and edit the mods you have on the fly all the changes as far as I know should take effect immediately so for example the Epic Loop mod that I have you know I my setting is player must know recipe if I wanted to change it to you know boss kill unlocks current biome items or something like that I could change it and just continue playing the game without having to quit out and restart it very useful so I'm gonna quit out of the game and then we're gonna wrap up and that's it pretty simple and straightforward I would say it's one of the easiest mod manager and mod install experiences that I've run across you can look up mods on thunderstorms website but as I showed you using the mod manager itself to look up Mods you don't need all the URLs you really just need the you know the initial URL to install R2 mod man I I will note that uh thunderstore does promote their own thunderstorm mod manager it's actually a reskin of the R2 modman and it includes ads and it pushes you to install another app it's just like a little bit of extra Hassle and the easiest route is to just grab the R2 mod man I'll even show you the two side by side and you'll go uh it's like the same month yeah I mean right you can pick whichever you want to do they'll both work they're both fine I've used them both but the easiest mod manager that I've found so far is R2 mod man thanks for watching please remember if you found this helpful at all to tap that like button touch the monkey in the corner and subscribe leave a comment down below I do read them all I appreciate your support and I'll see you later thanks for watching please remember comments All Too mod man seems I I don't know I I can't think it'll get much easier unless the game started installing mods for me that's not a good idea
