welcome you have been chosen by the valkyrie bring Justice to the lands of Odin all you see is yours everything you find you may take all that is asked of you wherever you find the enemies of Odin you shall crush them in his name I shall guide you for I am Rob of game Star Nation and this it's my heart well thank you very much for joining me today I'm gonna teach you how to play valheim so if you haven't uh played it before valheim is an amazing game if you're into survival and crafting it's top-notch it really is the only problem with the game uh this game doesn't explain anything you can do what you're supposed to do what's possible so in this video I aim to show you exactly what to do what you should be doing or what's going on around you uh from the time you touch down in valheim all the way through and up to Downing the first boss and with that let's go ahead and get into it now obviously there's some real basic stuff in settings you can have your controls I highly recommend taking the time to go ahead and do that uh go ahead and set the controls as you like them to be I tend to set up most of my Survival Games the same way whenever I can so whether I'm playing Minecraft or green hell or valheim run Sprint Crouch all that it's kind of the same buttons I recommend just doing whatever you're comfortable with but taking the time to do this I know when you first get a game you kind of want to just jump right in and have fun but no one what does what and what you can do is a super important part of that especially knowing you know your map uh your jump you run your Crouch audio that's completely up to you how you want to do it uh same with the graphics I didn't miscellaneous you have a couple camera options here but most of that stuff is it is self-explanatory so I'm not going to get in depth on that stuff as far as playing when you're ready you'll hit the start game option and you got to create a character if you don't already have one so we're gonna do that right now um we are going to not give much thought to this at all foreign [Music] all right and then we're gonna also have to uh when we click Start we have to create a world if you already have one I have some here but again we're gonna do this all fresh so we're gonna create a new one of those as well and we're gonna call it Northern Lights just because I don't want to give a lot of thought to it and that is an inverse server go ahead and start it up [Music] now in order to host a game so that somebody else you know can join you you can actually just click Start server right here that'll actually make it so that your system will host the game and it's open to other people you then can put a password so only people you give that password to can enter or you can leave it open and anyone who finds it could stumble on in and the community server will actually make it a public server it'll put it onto like the public um listings so that other people that you know just around the world can just jump into your world which they're jumping onto your system now if you want to join somebody else's game that's the other tab up here their start game right next to it to the right is join game if you click that any of your steam friends if they have a game going right now that that is where they've started a server uh it'll show up right here in the list and you jump to it and enter it if there's a password you go to password prompt or if it's an actual dedicated server you can click the join IP button here and then enter the actual IP address of the server and click connect and join the world that way so really easy to play multiplayer for now let's go on into single player [Music] so as the game starts you're brought in by a valkyrie Valkyrie is also based on Norse mythology uh but this is not at all what a valkyrie was but it's kind of cool still it's like half Raven half woman it's pretty wild when it brings you to the map it's going to bring you uh and through randomly on location and as you get close to the ground it'll actually start marking the area for you on the map which we'll look at here in just a second now as you drop in um right here I click M for map and you can see exactly that path we took we came in this way the bird came in hooked to left and dropped us right there so it gives us a little bit of what we can do when you're on the map uh and you Mouse over an area you'll see in the top right of the map it'll tell you what that area is it says Meadows now down here in the bottom right corner of the map is your option to be visible to other players so if you are playing on a server with other people and you want them to be able to see where you are on the map you'll have to click this button right there and then at that point this little icon will appear on the map for them showing your name above it same thing once they click that you'll see them on the map you also can mark the map if you find things are interesting there are five icons this little fire a house I'm guessing that's an anchor just a pen dot a pen head or this little portal or Dimension or whatever you want to call it you could choose whatever you want at any point then just double click on the map and it will put the icon right there where you had the mouse and it'll give you a chat bar down here so you can type what you want and it will label it or you could actually just hit the enter button and it just puts down a blank marker now if you want to get rid of the marker you right click it and it deletes it that's all you need to know about the map now down here in the bottom left corner you see three kind of transparent boxes with a fork under them and then the number 25 with a little infinity symbol the 25 is your health you have 25 hit points as you eat items in the game you will gain a temporary buff to health the amount of time it lasts is based on the food anywhere from like 10 minutes up to 30 minutes same with stamina our stamina will appear right below you when you go to Sprint that yellow bar right there right below me is the stamina bar you see it drain once you run out of stamina you will not be able to Sprint anymore in fact you will not be able to jump you'll not be able to swing a weapon or a tool uh you're kind of dead in the water it's very important to keep your stamina up both stamina and health are increased by eating food the three blocks above the fork are the three different food Buffs you can have at one time so if I were to go out and find berries and eat them I would get a food buff for berries I cannot eat more berries until that buff is at least halfway wore out but I can have two other kinds of food instead and the bus will stack on top of each other so I found berries I'm gonna go to my inventory here and by right clicking it it'll eat it and now for 10 minutes I have a bonus to both health and stamina in this case it added Seven health which means my Max health will be 32 and added 20 stamina so my 50 stamina is now 70. so that really helps you out and that's only one food buff and that's a very incredibly weak food buff as you play the game you'll find better Foods or foods that you can create that would give you huge bonuses typically speaking types of meat will give you a bonus to health with a little bit of stamina bonus and then fruits and vegetables will give you a large stamina bonus with a little bit of boost to health there are some foods a few of them that give you equal amounts of both so now in this case while I've been talking I kind of ran into a bunch of monsters these necks and I was sprinting so my stamina ran to zero and I couldn't even jump past them now at this point I've regenerated so I'm gonna get up here but they can't get to me and I'm gonna hopefully get rid of this little tutorial bird jeez Okay so so you have a whole bunch of necks around now neck is a weird word I know for this but again this is based on Viking lore and language I'm guessing so I'm sure next were things mythologically but next is also a grayling these are all level one creatures they're super starting monsters they're really not that dangerous right now because I have just berries in my belly and no real armor um they are dangerous but it doesn't take long at all to get past them graylings are somewhat annoying uh but that's really all they are is a nuisance now again where I am we have absolutely nothing now so they can still all be deadly but before long uh they'll be no harm at all now every mob drops at least one type of item which is either used in building crafting or you know eating and some can be mixed with others to make even better items so all of these monsters do serve a purpose but so you know you do not get experience points and level up by killing anything you do have skills in the game in fact if you open your inventory these icons up here there's 40 different icons the second one here that has the three triangles that is your skills and as you learn new skills they'll appear right here there's many more skills so I have level two running level one jumping no clubs and no blocking as I do that as I Sprint more I'll actually gain there you go skill improved run three so as running improves it will take less stamina to Sprint so I can spread longer and there's a slight boost to speed although it's not game changing by any means if I run away there's most of the next I've given up I have one here left that is quite annoying but super easy to kill with my bare Fist two punches I killed the neck and I gained a necktail necktail are used in food recipes or once I get a fireplace I can cook it and then I will have two different food Buffs stacked on top of each other you'll see that shortly when you first land what you want to do is really stay in The Meadows for as long as you can if you come across another biome just mark on the map remember is and come back to it later stay away from the edges don't make your home on the edge of a biome because you will get raided by larger monsters each biome is another step in the game another stage up a level up so right now we are on the very bottom of the game we're at the easiest place possible The Meadows any other zone is going to be harder and worse than this so right now we are not ready for anything beyond The Meadows just stay in The Meadows until you are ready the worlds are created randomly when you create a new world it is completely different than any other world unless you choose the same seed it is possible to have a high level Zone spawn right next to the starting Meadows you'll always start in The Meadows but the surrounding biomes it is possible to get any of them even the last level currently is the planes but there is another one coming which will be even harder each Zone has its own unique monsters animals plants and building materials although there is some crossover so there's a benefit to each place to go and you'll eventually want to go to all of them but with each one it does get dangerous so it starts out with The Meadows the next one is the black forest after the Black Forest is the swamp and it's a huge jump in difficulty into the swamp from there it's the mountains which you can't even get to right away it's freezing cold and you'll die of exposure early on until you have adapted yourself there is one more Zone beyond the mountains and that is the plains The Zone that's going to come out later this year is the missed lands and that will change the entire game because there'll be a whole another tier put on top pushing everything down by one now everything you find at least that comes to mind is usable in something either building or crafting so right here we have Flint you'll find flint by the water it's one of the items you want to look for in The Meadows so when you first land you're going to want to look for wood and stones uh as well as Flint which we just found now wood you can get by punching these small saplings it doesn't hurt to punch them much like Minecraft it also doesn't make sense much like Minecraft but it is what it is Stones is another thing as I mentioned you want to pick up stones are very important in early recipes so wood stones and Flint are the things to get flint is kind of an upgrade to Stone um one of the early tools you'll make will be a stone ax and there is a flint ax with just a little bit better so first thing we're going to do is we're going to create an ax because it acts as both a tool and a weapon it's it's just useful I hear a grayling there's one right there they're pretty aggressive wants to know you're around they can actually hear you so as you cut down trees um for break trees or mine or do anything that causes a lot of noise they'll come investigate they kind of consider themselves like Guardians of the forest but they're not now when you find sometimes there's these old ruins they're old wore out Viking houses they're just kind of pre-built when you get here it's very common to find a beehive in them beehives are super useful throughout the game from early game to late game um and you really can never have too many of them so first of all let's get rid of this annoying grayling let's see if we've got enough to make an ax because we can end him pretty quick with an ax we're gonna open our inventory and over here on the right hand side you will have options to craft now later you'll be able with a hammer you're able to craft even more and make a table which you craft even more so this isn't all you can craft but it's at least what you can craft on the Go without the help of anything else and sure enough a stone ax we need five wood and four stone and we have five Stone and seven woods so we are good all you have to do is click the craft button and you now have a stone ax all your tools have a durability on them and can eventually break they can all be repaired at either a crafting station or the proper uh table which will make more sense later they can be repaired for free so you just have to have access to a table then just go up and click it hopefully remember to cover that later so there is a beehive here I'm getting ahead of myself but we kind of have an opportunity that we need to act on so if I can remember this is here I can come back and collect it later the safest way to collect beehives are with a bow and arrow which I don't have yet if it was lower or I was willing to get stung a lot we could kind of climb up and get it I think I might do that we need more food first though so what I'm gonna do is I'm actually gonna we can build a home from scratch but this one doesn't look too bad I think building a home from scratch or building one off of this is kind of the same process so I can still show you and teach you without teach without taking up so much time building so I'm just gonna cut down some wood it makes it pretty quick with the ax and each ax you get will do a better job cut wood even faster because simply it does more damage to the road at once [Music] now not only can you uh build tools that are better than previous tools typically but you also can upgrade existing tools and that is another option at the crafting table crafting table is something we're going to make here in just a moment what we need to do is build a floor in order to do that we need a hammer for a hammer we need three wood and two stones I only have one stone although I do have the wood so I gotta go find a stone later on you will get a pickaxe which makes finding rocks and stones very easy but for now we just have to find one small enough in the ground to pick up that was Flint but here's a stone right here so with this Stone I can now make a hammer [Music] and when you find all the items you need for a recipe they'll appear on the screen right there as you see them come in right here so these are all new things that I can build thanks to the Hammer those birds are the tutorial uh when you're playing by yourself take the time to read what they're saying but that's my job in this video so we're not going to listen to them okay to build stuff just put the hammer in your hand and right click with the mouse now before I get into the actual building I'm going to right click again and make that go away and just show you right now with a hammer in your hand when you Mouse over a an item or in this case a wall you'll see it stem and it's current durability I mean you'll see it's current durability which is that small yellow chip in the bar the rest of the bar empty means it's been damaged that much if that reaches zero the entire wall will break although if you built the well wall or whatever it is and it breaks all of the items it took to build that item or wall will fall in the ground right there and you can collect them all again so you won't lose anything if this happens but you do have to rebuild that item or wall now in order to do a whole lot with a building you're going to need a crafting station you'll find under this tab here when you open up the build menu which again you do by right clicking anywhere with a hammer in your hand now bring this window up you will start in the miscellaneous Tab and that will have this button here which is the repair button and then we have the campfire wood stack and stone pile these are just the way these two things are just a way to organize things you have all the better ways than that and the fire is a useful thing we'll be doing next but for now we're going to tab over to crafting you'll see there are also building and furniture but the only thing that I have unlocked so far for that is the repair Hammer so here in the crafting station we're going to take that and you can see the image itself when you see it colorful like that it means it can be built right there if you see it turn red that means something's in the way you can rotate it with the mouse wheel and then just place it wherever you want I'm gonna try to keep it out of the way of things to conserve on space and then clicking the left Mouse button will drop it in place now immediately you'll have this other one like it wants you to build a second one which is easy to do if you want to build a second one but if you don't you just right click the mouse button choose the repair symbol and it goes away now with this crafting table here as long as it lets us we can begin repairing just by left clicking with the hammer in our hand and it costs nothing we can restore these walls to new just by clicking on them while we're in Ranger crafting table and have a hammer in our hands okay all right now you right click again and we choose building now we have a whole bunch more unlocked because once you put the table down and you're in range of it you have many more options to build so you actually have some furniture now a bed uh we'll need that in just a moment for now we're going to finish this house so to build just pick the piece you want there's a bunch of pieces you can rotate them horizontally but you cannot rotate them vertically so you can't spin them head over tail but you can rotate them side to side so we're gonna grab a wall piece for now and actually using the mouse wheel if we just rotate it and then using the little crosshairs just line it up to the side of one wall it'll snap in place in fact you can do the same thing rotate it the other way and put it against a different side of the wall and once you find a snap location see I just kind of snaps in right there makes it building really easy it's connected you don't have to worry about gaps in the wall or anything like that we're gonna go to the crafting table now if you have the hammer in your hand it will prevent you oh shoot we're getting stung by a bee okay once you're stung by a bee it's basically a damage over time debuff it only lasts for a little while so you can usually survive one sting and you'll regenerate naturally as long as you have food in your belly now earlier I found mushrooms as well mushrooms are another food type that give you a buff and they don't require cooking so we can do that right away this is one of those food types that will give you an equal amount of health and stamina in this case 15 of each so stacked on top of the other one it's really boosted us up now so our stamina bar is even bigger now it looks like it's what 80 5 and our health it looks like if you Mouse over it'll tell you what the current is uh 80. so it's it's 47 health and 84 stamina that's my current uh stats now once food gets about halfway through its buff in this case once those raspberries hit the five minute Mark they'll begin to flash and at that point you can eat something again and either change that buff or restore it but also from that point where it begins to flash it begins to degrade so if it gives you 10 Health boosts normally that'll go down the closer you get to that timer running out I got stung again because I'm smart I'm gonna try to be a little more careful get stuck again we are dying so hopefully we can regenerate some health here before I get stupid again we're going back to building with the hammer and this time we build a door now the door is actually kind of easy to get it kind of off so when you go to place it kind of look at different angles and make sure it looks right like right there it's kind of Gap from the top but if you put it up against that wall piece you see it'll kind of snap right into place if you place anything incorrectly all you have to do is mouse over it again with the hammer in your hand click the middle Mouse button it breaks and you'll get all those pieces back so it doesn't cost you anything to do that so you can make as many corrections as you want and the most you'll lose is just a little bit of time all right there the door is in place and let's just go ahead and put some more walls up we're just snapping them to the other existing wall so we know they're in the right place um almost close to the bees there didn't want to get stung again now there's an actual window oh I just heard a boar yeah we're getting attacked by a boar that's fine now as long as I know he's there I'm out of stamina so I just gotta wait for stamina to build up when boar attack you they'll bite once whether they hit or miss they'll turn around take off running and come back and charge you again so you'll see here it comes again just time that which I did not do correctly and hold the left Mouse button down and your Viking will swing and swing until you let go which you can do once the board Falls dead now bore are very important early on the game look at all the stuff that I can now build because I found some leather scraps that's about the most important thing they drop is leather scraps but also bore meat bourmeat is another food type that is useful both early in the game and late games so get more meat whenever you can hold on to it put in chest if you don't need it right away okay I'm gonna finish building this part here and then we will get into some of the other survival stuff now I know I'm long-winded I want to tell you everything you need to know about the game so you can just really enjoy it and that may take a while if you don't have the time to get through all this at once just click the save button down below the video and save to watch later and so you can always come back later and just remember where you were and when you go to Play It Was play around where you left off okay now it's in a missing requirements down the bottom screen you can see I need two wood oh I look at inventory I don't have any so it's time to go chop some wood these little guys are actually really good they never become big trees so don't worry about you know you're killing the forest or something if they spawn as little trees that's what they'll always be no other trees will spawn here unless you plant them same with Big Trees uh some games if you chop the tree down it leaves a stump behind obviously the stump there to regrow a tree not that way in valheim if you chop a tree down it is permanently gone so you might as well chop this stump down too it must give you extra wood and remove that piece from your way now as your chopping skill goes up it will take less time you'll do more damage to the tree and it'll take a lot less time to cut it same with better axes you'll get in the game there are upgrades to all the tools we have now and they're going to make it much easier to do in fact you get the point where it becomes almost too easy to chop trees you'll accidentally chop down when you're trying to hit a monster a mom of some kind there I broke the stump just gave it some extra wood now we down the tree but there's still this huge log you can roll it around and it will do damage to things or take damage from things and there's a way to actually cut down some trees that you're intended to only do once you're later in the game like this here there's different trees in different biomes there's some crossover you'll find some of these trees and other biomes but they each give you different kinds of wood there's standard wood which is going to come from these Beech trees as well as furs uh you'll get fine wood which makes different weapons items and uh building materials uh from Birch you can't cut down a burst tree until you have at least a bronze ax you won't get a bronze ax until you're really deep into the black forest but the way to get it early just let you know you'll have to use your imagination a bit but if you cut down a tree until you have a huge log like this one and then you roll it into the birds the Birch will take damage so will this log you may have to go through a few logs before you finally break that Birch but you can drop the Birch and then smash it till it falls into wood and get it way before you actually need it now if we're lucky enough to find a troll there's a second method if by the end of this video I can't find a troll to show you I'll at least tell you the method with the troll and I'll probably have a short on it or another video oh then the rest and yes that can happen we're gonna leave that in the video I could cut that out to stay on track but we're gonna leave that in there because it's an important part of learning the game when you die you'll respawn at the starting location unless you've created a bed and interacted with it in which case you'll respawn at that bed so this tells us we need to build a bed when you die you'll actually lose skill points skill levels in many cases and early on that's not too bad although it's not helpful but later on it can mean hours lost so death is something you want to avoid I mean obviously you want to avoid it but for more than most games valheim can be very unforgiving later on and hopefully they actually lower that and don't make it so devastating in the future right now it's like five percent of your total skill points are lost which means you can lose multiple levels which took you you know a long time to get now you also get that no skill drain though in the top corner I would call it a buff it's not really a buff or a debuff but it just prevents you from losing any more skills if you die again within I believe it's a 10 minute window now on the map you will see the marker for where you died for every death you have and unless you manually delete it it'll stay there forever even when you collect your body so it looks like we need to go this way until we get to that skull so when you come back to your well the location of your death you'll have a tombstone waiting for you it'll wait for you forever if you die in the ocean it'll float on the top it'll stay there until you collect it and it will have all of your belongings since I had no items in my inventory and I interacted with it it just gave them to me if I had some items in the way and I couldn't figure out where to put the items it would open a window and allow you to manually loot the tombstone but once everything's loaded out of Tombstone the tombstone wheel just explode as it did and it's erased although your marker is still on the map so we're gonna go into the map and we're gonna right click on that marker to delete it there might be reasons or times that you want to leave it there but in this case we don't so I've got my stuff again I'm just going to hit the number two key to quickly select the X and I'm going to go ahead and start chopping these trees down before they kill me again okay armor is also important in the game and I am not wearing any because I died so open inventory again and right click on it and that will equip it if it's got a blue box around it then it is currently equipped on that note going into your inventory you have a weight limit you obviously have a an item limit different items you can have they each have their own stack size but once you run out you're gonna throw something out to pick something else up but you also have a weight limit over here 300 units which I've used 52. all right we've got some more wood to keep building I'd probably not have to finish the building I should probably keep shopping but we're going to go ahead and see what we can pull off so selecting the Hammer by hit number three I'm going to rotate the mouse wheel and line up this roof to match that one I'm gonna go to the other side now the table needs to have a roof over it before you can interact with it the crafting table and your bed has to have a roof over in order to sleep several items actually have to have a roof in order for you to interact with them so I'm going to take the time to just build this entire building also it'll keep us from getting wet there are many Buffs and debuffs in the game or several I should say one of those is being cold if you are cold then your stamina regeneration and health regeneration will be cut in half it will take twice as long for you to regenerate stamina and health and that can be quite dangerous if you are wet it is the same it cuts it in half so if you are cold and wet it cuts it into a quarter where you're barely regenerating it all and that can have some dire consequences now there's a little X for decoration on that side so I'm going to do the same thing on this I just imagine trying to do it without getting stung don't know if I'm gonna be able to pull it off and we're gonna go ahead and just make a top piece there we go with a hamburger hand you cannot interact with doors so I'm switching to the ax and switching back to the Hammer and then just line it up and click on the left Mouse button oops [Music] okay we're outside make sure it looks right yep there we go we have a new house not the prettiest not the coolest but it's ours another tool to make that is useful and I highly recommend doing it is a hoe real quick before I make the hoe I want to talk about repairing I have broke the ax so it cannot be used anymore it's flashing red in case it's broken but it's still in the world the two options you'd have is to throw it into the world where it'll despawn eventually as long as it's not near our crafting table or go to a crafting table and you'll have this little flashing icon that says repair item just click that it costs nothing it's fully repaired there's no reason to not repair in fact it's not just that item any item in your inventory that can be repaired can be done so by just clicking it again and again and there I have no items that need repair everything is fixed so we're gonna go ahead and craft the hoe and show you what this tool does all right so we can do new things by equipping the hoe and right clicking the mouse button you have a few options one is to level the ground the other is to raise the ground that one actually costs two Stone and I have a workbench close by and then path in which is to make a path uh it really is just a visual thing at this point there are mods that would make it useful but it is basically just a visual path so we're going to level the ground now it's hard to see because all these weeds and this grass but there's actually a little set of rings so there you go you can see it that shows you the the range of where it's gonna happen and the line coming to the center shows you that it's either going to raise the ground or lower it if the line starts from the center and goes up above it then it's gonna lower it and if the line shoots down from the center of it downwards and it's going to raise it to wherever your feet are not exact but within range there is only so much mass it can work with those so there are limits to how high or low you can get something to flatten but we're going to come in here and we're going to just flatten the ground and that's going to get rid of all this vegetation so we can actually see what we're doing and get a nice level of ground for our house now we're going to switch back to the hammer and we're gonna build some floor we're just gonna slam it up against the edge of this one so that we know it's lined up and eventually when we get a pick we can get rid of that rocker Stone but for now this will do just perfect if you want something to look a little fancy and you're someone used to standard wood if you rotate the block each time and then rotate it back it actually makes a nice little pattern okay now I want to go ahead and get that beehive I'm still worried about getting stung and well I want to show you what you can do with them so scoot this back I'm gonna put a ladder to get us up to it we actually go there's two kinds of uh ladders or stairs that's the ladder there I'm gonna try to attach a stair to it and that'll get us right up to where we need to go so now I just need to switch to an ax and just there we broke it get out of there go there so you don't die it will still sting anything in the area for a few seconds so once you break it just get out of the area let the bees clear out and you'll be good that's it it's all gone so we're gonna go ahead and break the ladder and the stairs break this table so we're going to go ahead and put the get the hoe again I need to get rid of that grass because it bugs me so I'm going to the outside of the house because I can't reach from the inside and then we'll also make a little path leave now leave them over the water over here [Music] so remember it's gonna be wherever you're standing so you want to make a nice smooth ramp like this you want to go about halfway up from where you want to be and you'll hit that then you go about halfway down you hit that you go about halfway up the other way hit that and each time it's going to try to level it to where your feet are standing so it makes a nice sloping ramp if you want to bring this up then you're going to get higher than it significantly and then when you hit that button it's going to raise the ground if you wanted to lower it you get down beneath it and hit it and it's going to lower it but again there is just so much mass it can work with so there are limits to this but you can make nice smooth transitions if you're just patient [Music] go back and forth until you get it right okay now let's go ahead and lay a bed down I don't know if I have enough wood for that I've been really lazy about the wood we're gonna need a crafting table again because I broke it before we're gonna put on this rock just to hide the Rock furniture now we can place it pretty much anywhere over here because the bees are no longer going to bother us um I'm gonna go ahead I'm a perfectionist so I'm gonna go ahead and get rid of this dirt on the floor here by calling it some more most of it I can get from this outside there's some that you can't once you get a pick you can kind of perfect that you just pick it down and then either flatten that out and put wood over the top now once you place a bed you have the option to spawn here or even you know go to sleep and sleep the night away since the night time is hard to see in this game especially on YouTube um I'm gonna go ahead and sleep the night away so we have morning uh the first time I interact with the bed in this case it says press the D button to claim it okay that is my spawn point now so if I die that's where my naked body is going to respawn I still have to go out and get my stuff though wherever I died if I interact with it again and it's at least after I think three o'clock in the afternoon you can sleep as long as you have a fire nearby you see that message right there need a fire so the quick way to do that is to break the floor you cannot build fire on a wooden floor you'll catch the whole place on fire but they don't even let you do that like even if you wanted to you can't so we're going to go ahead and break the wood right there that's going to give us exposure to the dirt later on when you can make stone a stone floor will also work you just cannot Place fire on your wooden one here in miscellaneous we have the campfire that's really the Starting Fire you'll use for a very long time to do that you need five Stone and two wood so again we're gonna have to go find some Stone and unfortunately we have to do it in the dark I am not going to make you come along with me for that I will just use the magic of editing to get us right back where we were all right and now I have gotten enough Stone so we will select the fire and lay it down you can rotate it if there's a certain way you want the stones to be and I'm just going to drop it right here by left clicking and there we go we have a fire that also indicates the game that we are in a shelter it looks around it says you gotta you got walls you got a roof you have fire well then you have a shelter when you're in a shelter you can get a resting bonus you should see up in the top right corner which gives you double the health regeneration and triple the stamina regeneration also now that we have a shelter our bed is something we can sleep in and that means we can sleep through the night now [Music] oh good morning rise and shine okay so another thing you need besides a fire you need a cooking station that will allow you to make much better food which is going to give you more of a health bonus uh and even a better stamina bonus so here in the crafting window we'll just choose the crafting Tab and right here you see cooking station so at the cookie station you rotate again like everything else with the mouse wheel and place it down now one tip you can actually Place multiple cooking stations together I would just recommend offsetting them kind of like this so you can interact with the station that you want to um so you can easily take food off of one without accidentally adding food to another but to add food basically just go up to a food station you can just look at these little Barb sticking straight down as a way to interact with it but really any part of it and just press uh D or your interact button and that will take any meat that's in your inventory that can be placed on this cooking station and apply it to it now you have to wait a certain amount of time for food to cook or if you ate too long it'll burn which will give you coal which can be used in certain building recipes okay so that other that second Sizzle it says once we put on the fire now it sizzling again and now it's turned kind of a you know Brown cooked color that means it's done this is when you want to pull it off the fire the next stage is burnt [Music] but now that we have food let's go ahead and eat some food we've got honey I guess it's great stamina bonus we just cooked some boar meat it's gonna eat that there we got our three food Buffs let's go ahead and renew our raspberry so now we have a total of 70 Health as a Max at 114 stamina so we're doing quite a bit better than we were before now it's time for the next stage of survival and that is hunting which will give you supplies and food which is very important for obvious reasons uh some of the important supplies are a hunting bow which will make life much easier for you um all aspects of early as well as armor which allows to absorb more damage and therefore survive longer and even though this is a creative kind of building game as well it is first and foremost a survival game so surviving is the most important aspect and anything that helps us survive is good okay there's a deer up there I'm gonna Crouch down hit your Crouch button you'll go into sneak mode you can kind of see the eyeball there how visible you are very visible and this great Link's running give up my position now hopefully it didn't scare the deer okay it didn't oh there's another deer so we have a chance to get at least one out of two if you look at the top right corner if you mentioned before the little arrow in your mini-map is the way the wind is blowing you do not want to be down the stream from them going to be upstream or upwind but that way your scent doesn't carry so we're in the right position the wind is plugged passed in into us so they can't smell us now we just have to stay out of their Vision they can see kind of in a 130 degree cone on front of them that's a guesstiment but just to give you an idea and so we just need to creep out of range and behind their view now chances are one of them are probably going to see us just hope we can stick up on the other one before that happens okay I'm actually behind both of them now watch your stamina if you're every time you creep around you're stamina drains and it hits zero you'll stand up and just give you a position away immediately we carefully snake up behind them don't want to turn around they really can't see swing you get critical damage kills them just about instantly that's for any mob you can stick up on them and you get sneak attack damage uh which is oftentimes triple damage sometimes more dependent situation when you are chasing deer and you get close enough to him to attack you'll be tempted to swing but if you do your character will stop playing his feet and then swing and by then the deer is out of your range so the best thing to do is actually to jump and begin swinging in midair that way when you land your ax is colliding with your prey all right so we got some supplies we got some deer meat which is great it's a really really good meat uh on top of that we also got deer hide which is really useful for some of the items we look into craft um and I've been collecting four here and there so we've got some leather scraps let's go see what kind of what kind of stuff we can build with it [Music] all right so go to the crafting table a crude bow we need eight leather scraps and we have six so I don't really use my other scraps for armor even though we could really use some pants um rag pants are not going to help you out that much and unless you're really struggling I'd recommend just skipping the rag stuff this is what's available to us right now at tier one tier one is just a workbench now there's ways to upgrade the workbench and open new recipes I'm gonna go ahead and repair while I'm here again repairing across nothing just click the button until you have nothing else to repair [Music] all right now we need to go ahead and see what we can do to upgrade this table so we're going to grab our Hammer we're going to right click just to open the build menu and in crafting you can see this little star above it that star means it will rank up the table now depending on what table it is you'll want to look down below and see this is workbench Improvement [Music] so this will level up the workbench so we're going to go ahead and select the chopping block so we can make one right now and we're going to set it somewhere in the vicinity you can kind of see the Gold Trail leading to the table as long as you see that um it will connect and count if you get out of range it turns red or you just get too far away you can see there the the chain breaks off the table and now it's just pointing Towards the Sky well get just close enough and there you go as long as you see that trail uh it will help the table out we're gonna go ahead and just put it real close right here and so now look we've got we've got new recipes so we're gonna go ahead and see what we can make now so we got leather helmets I do want a wooden Shield I need 10 Woods I gotta remember that now one thing I didn't talk about yet and I haven't done actually is vent this building uh luckily the way it's built it's catching our smoke up top and eventually dissipating before it comes down chokes us out but smoke is something you really have to worry about in this game uh it's it's kind of an actual entity and if it ends up filling the area you're in you'll start taking on damage until you die uh you'll be smoked out and in this situation that is not a good thing now another little trick here to prevent yourself from running in the fire is to grab one of these wood beam two meters place it up near the fire to give you kind of a stopping point before you go into it but we're going to take it to the next step we're gonna grab a vertical beam please there are different ways to make fireplaces but basically all you got to do is make a hole vertically for the smoke to escape and then cover that hole so that rain doesn't put your fire out and there's so many different ways you're going to get very clever with it or just basic but I'm gonna go with just a basic design here what is going to prevent water from putting our fire out you've got to give enough room for the smoke to lift out if the area you make is too small uh it won't escape and it kind of defeats purpose so you kind of need to treat each block of smoke as a solid block a little bit smaller than the area that it takes up so here we go there's a pretty much a whole block that smoke can escape from right there and then we're just going to go ahead and put a little canopy roof on this let's go with one nut so steep [Music] there we go chimney that will protect your fire from the elements but also allow you to vent the house now oftentimes when you build something especially early on it will not be exactly level at the ground and it could cause issues I've been able to get into the play so I'm in the wrong spot on this because of this lift here it'll prevent me from getting in the house a quick fix of that grabbing your hammer and grab the wood stairs not the wood ladder but the wood stairs and if you just angle that right head foot board it will extairs right there which will go down to the ground so you won't see them they'll be leveling just right up in there all right now I vented the house so we have our cooking station oh let's just finish this fireplace real quick now it'll actually work as it is right now it's the Smoke's being guided up by the one block but I'm just doing this more for looks now just for your information these small holes here do not allow any smoke out they're strictly for the looks but also they act as a solid wall for that area this block there's nothing that's coming through shooter that hurts you either so you can make your entire home out of those if you like okay now as mentioned before you can upgrade many of the tools and armor that you have simply by clicking this upgrade button we're going to go ahead and select the stone ax we've been using and for Just Two Stone we can upgrade to level two um So currently this example it does slash damage of 15 with my current skill meaning it'll do five to nine so I'm really underskilled access currently and it's block armors 3 where the upgraded version while black armor is still three but our slash damage goes to 20. [Music] so I'm gonna do more damage with it a minimum of one more and a Max of three more damage than the current skill level I'd say it's really really worth it but what I'm gonna try to do is see if I can give it rather than upgrade the stone ax I'm going to make a flint ax which is like the next level up of axes many of the tools in the game have upgraded versions and I recommend getting them as quick as you can because they're more efficient and a little more damage just overall better so I'm just gonna find some flip there we go you can consistently find flint on the shoreline of any Meadows biome now you do have an option for auto loot which means as long as you have inventory space if you walk over a loose item in the ground it will automatically pick it up and put in your inventory for you now sometimes that's not always a good thing so you do have the ability to decide to turn that on or off you can do so quickly with the V key V isn't Victor or vector if we can V you'll see in the top left corner says Auto pickup off now if I pop this and make it a loose item it doesn't pick it up if I want to pick it up enough to actually grab it with the D button or interact button uh but if I hit V again turns Auto pickup on and I just get close to it automatically grabs it when you first start there'll be a boss marker right here in the starting area showing you where the first boss is and throughout the world will be these boss stones that will show you where the spawn point for the next boss is so if we interact with the stone it will show us then where the boss for that stone is and it looks like it's just Southeast from our current location that's Ike theater see deer boss is a very important boss to kill as he will give you the ability to mine okay it is night time I'm gonna go ahead and sleep the night away a little easier to see in the daytime [Music] perhaps we'll dream a dream of Dreams once again you run at the head of your Warriors the weight of your father's ax in your hand you wake with the war cry on your limits okay now another tool you'll want especially before taking on the first boss is a shield and there are different kinds of shields in the game generally speaking there are two types of Shield there's a round shield and a tower Shield there's different versions of round Shields and Tower Shields but those are the two kinds of shields in the game a round Shield doesn't absorb as much damage as the tower Shield does but it also doesn't slow down your movement speed as much and it gives you the chance to Parry an enemy's attack which means if you time the block so that you block at the moment that your enemy is to hit you it staggers the enemy tends to do much less damage or no damage at all and gives you a few seconds to get some free shots in on the enemy and that is a fight style that I prefer but they're also it's a tower Shield which absorbs way more damage off the gradually takes no damage even from enemies that outclass you but it does give you a significant movement speed debuff in fact you see here minus 20 speed so you actually move 20 slower whenever you have a tower Shield equipped and while there are times the tower Shields useful for me I prefer the fast movement of the round Shield now with most of the shields in the games not all but most you'll have a style option up here which will give your Shield a different appearance so I'm going to go ahead and go with the blue one no you know what we're gonna go with red and it just takes the 10 wood full resin and four of the scraps and then simply click the craft button thing is I actually did that already but didn't film it so that's why we cover that again with you but I have it right here now mainly what we needed to make the entire time is a bow the first bow is the crude bow and it is a horrible boat the arrows will drop short of rain so be very inaccurate it's going to look stupid and clumsy but it's still much easier than trying to hunt everything by hand the very next boat you'll get after this one is exactly as you expect the bow to be and it's very nice but we're going to muddle through with a crude bow for a while so just do 10 wood and eight leather scraps and here you can see the table level required this is just level one table it's just a workbench by itself but we can even build it to a number two because we have this upgrade so we're gonna go ahead and click the craft button and now we have a bow but to make it bow useful we need arrows the most basic arrows are wood arrows and they actually do a decent job they don't fly the fastest they don't be the most damage but they're cheap it takes eight wood to make 20 arrows nothing else required now any other area you have to make you're going to require feathers to make it as well on that note the best way to get feathers is to kill the birds that land on the ground don't bother trying to shoot them in the air I don't think it's possible but they will Land once they do pop them boom Three Feathers each time what arrows don't require anything but wood so they're always cheap and easy to get okay another thing you will need before you take on the first boss is better armor uh Rags you can survive the boss in rags make sure you have both tops and bottoms but I really really recommend that you have leather armor both the tunic and pants it takes six deer hide for each one so you'll need a total of 12 to arm yourself I happen to have 19 so we're going to make both the leather pants and the leather tunic you'll see here a two star that means you need a level two workbench which is a workbench with at least one add-on for the pants leather tunic okay now we have leather pants and leather tunics so right here our armor class is one all right which you can see naked is zero so one is just one step above that now it's going to put on our new armor and we've gone from one with the rag tunic to four with the leather pants and leather tunic so you'll notice that makes quite a bit of difference the amount of damage you can take can I just mention before you can also upgrade your items in fact most tools can upgrade to rank four right here in the top right corner you can see the current rank so our flat ax is right too if we go to upgrade uh you see these can be upgraded or which Shield can be upgraded our hoe and the hammer because they're all lit up quite uh where the front ax is grayed out so it's saying that we form one of the scraps and the level three workbench in order to upgrade to level three front ax but our wood Shield we just need five more wood two resin and two other scraps which we have uh I'm gonna go and upgrade my shield and that will give us even better block armor now once you have two deer trophies leather pants and leather tunic a wooden Shield Tower or around your choice a flat ax and a bow you're ready to take on the first boss okay once you have all the equipment you need which again leather armor Shield preferably Flint ax or upgrade sonax and bow then you're ready to move on to the next Zone in order to make that next Zone really worth your while you need to First kill either Boss Of The Meadows so we found his spawn location earlier in the map we're just gonna top off our food make sure that we have the best buff possible make sure you've got a good balance between health and stamina make sure you have your arrows on you go to spawn point with two deer trophies place your deer trophies up in one of your action bar slots and then approach the mystical altar when you're ready to start the fight you're just going to press the action button that has the deer trophy in it and that is going to summon Ike there when you're ready to come over to the table and summon him now if you have more players this fight is much easier but I feel very doable even by yourself so I'm gonna go ahead and press seven that sacrifice the deer trophy 2 ikether and that's going to upset him enough to come get vengeance [Music] all right here he comes he does his lightning damage all right the trick here is to stay away from him at the same time keep your stamina up because that's what we're going to use to get out of range as well as to use the bow on him just stay away from them really that's ultimately all you got to do you use these stones to kind of keep distance between you and him if he rears up like that he's about to do an AOE just get away from him because I will the damage will penetrate through the stubs and hit you now I'm gonna actually try to take him on Toe to Toe here for a bit just to see I'm thinking maybe end this fight a little faster with the ax so first I'm gonna get him to attack I'm gonna hopefully be out of range when he finally does oh that wasn't all right let's get some stamina up now I'm Gonna Change My Mind real fast on this no actually that is quite a bit of damage to him people go to Toe with him for a minute [Music] I feel like I'm winning the fight here all right I need to get stamina one more okay this right here hard antler you can make a pick with that which we're gonna do next and that's going to open up a whole new world now every time you kill him or drop this Trophy and you can summon him again and again just by sacrificing more do your trophies to his altar so once you have the boss's mantle you want to return to the starting zone so we see different Stones here this one here with a deer on it that's iketherstone and then we have the second boss the Elder the third boss of the swamp fourth boss of the mountain and the fifth boss of the Plains so we're gonna go up to ikether's mantle and you see a trophy hook interact with it with his trophy in your inventory interacts with it again and you'll take on his ability and I like this build is one of the best in the game as it lets you run and jump 60 more efficiently in stamina for a certain amount of time so once you activate the power it's in settings it's under forsaken power and now you'll see it for five minutes the top right corner I have the if the bike there buff which allows me to run much further distance as I burn stamina far less you'll see my stamina ball drain very slowly in fact I only have two feedbusters and still can run for a very long time Jump as well jump in hardly takes any stamina as well so for five minutes I can run very fast very far so we'll spend one last trip over to our crafting table repair our tools and weapons and then right here antler pickaxe Game Changer you do with the table one with a level one table ten wood and one hard aler now this is one of the few tools that you cannot upgrade it is not really intended to be used long term it's actually just an item to use that means just long enough to get an actual metal pick which looks much better and can be upgraded so with the pickaxe you can now mine 10 and copper but you can also mine and break rock all kinds of rocks just but every rock you see in the game you can actually break it down get rock from it as well as clear it out so sometimes in your way you like the look of it might take you a moment to get rid of it but you just with picking your hand you just go to town just like everything else the more you use it the more your skill go up and the more efficient you'll be at it the faster you'll mine and Crush Rock so now that we broke that rock we cleared it out for the game but we also got a whole bunch of stones out of it so we will call that a success keep in mind that this is not everything there is to know about The Meadows rather everything that you need to know about it our next adventure shall take us into the black forest where things will get far more interesting and dangerous for now we must rest for our enemies are out there hunting for us for you you must be ready [Music]
