[Music] all right just one last midnight welcome back to another episode of valheim today we're going to look at some advanced building tips that maybe you guys should be doing inside of your valheim games but i am going to start off with some basic tips before we get started that you should probably already know but this is for the people who are just starting out this game before you get started building any structure remember that you should flatten your ground now i know this is a little bit controversial because over flattening the terrain will actually cause performance issues but by not flattening the ground you're making it a little bit harder for you to build any type of structure so it doesn't have to be big just go ahead and flatten the ground to about roughly the size of what your building is going to be and don't over flatten because that will cause performance issues in the long run before you begin building make sure all of your foundation pieces are blue if you watch my video on stable building you'll know that blue is the most stable color and by starting on a color other than blue you're actually making your building less stable so don't have a scenario like this where you have many pieces that are blue and then one piece that is green if this is the scenario that you currently have make sure that you level the ground upwards or flatten it in a way that it is touching the ground and it actually becomes a blue piece this will help you with building stability in the long run let's talk about weather damage so over time it rains inside of valheim and your wood structures will take damage you can see that i have two different colored textures here one wood texture that is more brownish and then one is more darkish and if i hover over them you'll notice that their health bar is one is fifty percent lower the damaged one is fifty percent lower this is a weathered board it can easily be fixed by just repairing it however while the weather texture doesn't look that great it is not going to degrade below 50 percent being able to rest inside of your structure requires a fire but if your fire is outside and it happens to be storming your fire will go out and you won't be able to sleep so most people put a fire inside of their house the only way to place a fire is to make sure that fire is on the dirt but this looks ugly and it's not very appealing to the inside of your home you can put fire on wood pieces as long as they are already placed on the ground so in this case i can add a floor wood piece to over this fire and it will not hurt the fire at all and it gives a nice aesthetic to inside of my house instead of looking at dirt in valheim you can make tree houses tree forts by placing foundation pieces attached to a standing tree and that foundation piece actually is blue to start off with just as it would be if it was placed on the ground giving you a great foundation to create a tree house but as we just covered a house is not complete unless you have a fire well luckily you can also place stone foundation pieces attached to a tree as well and with the stone foundation piece you can actually set a fireplace on it and with the trick that we used just a minute ago you can place a wood piece on top of that as well and then delete the foundation piece underneath and you can have a fire sitting inside of your tree house on a wood floor piece before getting started building any kind of base you should have a plan even if it's a rough plan now luckily you can go to google and search for floor plans and pull up hundreds and if not thousands of different floor plans that you could copy to make inside of valheim try to lay out the beams exactly how you see them on the floor plan and then get started building which brings us to our next tip create scaffolding when building any structures inside of valheim it'll make it a lot easier to place the pieces and it'll also save you from falling death just in case your building is quite high the ladder makes a great start for the scaffolding just place down a ladder piece and a one by one floor piece attaches very nicely onto the scaffolding you can easily extend out the scaffolding by putting down a two meter wood beam and then continuing to keep attaching it out which will give you snapping points to attach even farther out for your scaffolding pieces eventually you'll get to a point where you need to support your scaffolding so put down a brace to support your scaffolding and now you have the beginning of your scaffolding when you're ready to go to the next story up just place down another wood ladder and a wood beam that you can attach to and then start building out your second level of scaffolding the scaffolding in this manner can be extended up and up and up to tackle even the highest of base buildings did you know you can center a door in between two floor pieces this happens to me a lot sometimes i build my wall that's gonna have my door on it and it happens to be an even number of pieces and well i don't want my door offset what i'd like to have it is in the middle what you could do is you can put down a one by one floor floor on either side of where the door is going to be and then place the door down get rid of the two one by one pieces and now you have a nice center door right in the middle of that even number of floor pieces there's something else you could also do with doors you can actually use doors to offset how you're going to place the rest of your building pieces if you notice i can place down five doors on top of this one wood piece giving me five places to snap my walls to so you can see i am flush here with the wall and right in the middle of the door it lines up with the door but if i come one back i am slightly offset this allows me to do really cool designs on the wall front to actually give me a recessed look to my base so i can have a nice design on the front of my house without affecting how the walls are going to place down just by using doors to offset where i'm going to put my initial walls that brings me to snapping points wherever you can make sure that you add more snapping points to your base building as an example here's a floor layout i have three two meter wood beams on one side and six one meter wood beams on the other side if i was to do some sort of floor design i wouldn't be able to get really uh a very neat floor design with the three wooden beams because there's just not enough snapping points to be able to snap to the floor and give it some sort of cool effect whereas the six one meter wood beam floor because it has double the amount of snapping points will allow me to create some very interesting designs and patterns because of those additional snap points that's true for all of your base buildings whether you're building a wall or whether you're building uh any kind of internal structure of your house you can offset some pieces to give you those additional snapping points that you wouldn't have just by putting down a single piece you can see because we offset that one wall in the center we now have an additional two snapping points that we could use for other things 45 degree roofing is impossible to stand on matter of fact you can't you'll wind up sliding down so in order to stand on roofing that's 45 degrees you're gonna need to have a ladder so make sure you put down ladders when roofing so that you can easily get up to the top of your base or you can just use them temporarily to put down your roof thatching let's talk about the y support inside of valheim if you notice i have a base piece here with some beams that are going across in a t support and if you notice i start on blue i go to green and then a lighter shade of green and then the yellow and then the red and this is standard for the valheim building system where red you put anything on red and it'll wind up breaking off this t support is good in some options but what's better is to add an angled piece to give you a y support if i put down a single y support you can see that this piece on this side over here is red where the piece with the y support is now an orange color a slightly lighter shade that will allow me to actually to attach one more piece onto the end of this structure this y support can be extended on both sides and you can even get rid of the middle piece to create that y support that you see used in a lot of different building structures the wood iron pole is the one of the strongest supports in the game but to be honest they don't look that attractive you can easily cover up a wood iron support pole by placing a core wood beam over top of it and you will never see that iron would support a beam ever again the easiest way to make a circle in valheim is to put down a one meter wood beam and continue on doing that until you have a full and complete circle from here you can find the four points of the circle and then the four diagonals of the circle and then extend out these beams to the length that you want your main circle to be all right well that was it for my advanced building video i hope you guys enjoyed it if you did hit that like button if you're not a subscriber please subscribe love to have you in the community if you want to follow me on any of my social media you can find
