[Music] hey everybody hi it's becky from power tools with thread back from a wonderful breakfast we are in wamigo kansas and my husband is from manhattan kansas he grew up there his father worked for k-state university for 30 years so this is my husband's old stomping grounds and he and his buddy took off to some casino north of topeka i don't know but i wanted to stay behind and do a haul video with you guys because my credit card's on fire and it has gotten out of hand i don't know how that happened hey i saved on shipping we'll just say that right if you've been following along with me we are on a month-long vacation my primary fabric company that i work with is rebs fab stash out of moscow idaho and moscow is way up in that little stick part of idaho up near spokane washington and we live south of san antonio texas so we have made this cross-country journey we stopped in colorado springs to visit my son daughter-in-law and three grandchildren that was a nice visit we stayed at garden of the gods rv resort and then we have just made our way all along so i wanted to just give you a little peek into my shopping trip i just love promoting quilt shops i love promoting small businesses women-owned businesses which all of these have been and i just want to show you what i picked up so each time i go to a different store i will put a little link right up above and you can click on that link and you can jump to that store and see other things that they may have but i just wanted to show you what i got so i have one thing i'm going to hold off on until we get home and we should be home in the next week or so so i plan on being home about the 18th august okay so my very first stop was in san angelo texas and we went to the fiber co-op and i got to meet vanessa and i just loved her she's from london and she's quite the character and she's an incredible creative she does everything herself most of what she has in her store that is not bolts of fabric are things she has made and if you are a hand stitcher i highly encourage you to look at the video she has her own skeins of hand stitching thread she dyes herself a lot of silk alpaca all that kind of stuff so anyway at the fiber co-op in san angelo texas if you haven't been there and you're going by please stop you'll love it if you cannot get by there please check out the website so she makes her own project boards and i picked up a set of these i just love them you get three different sizes so there's one two three is the big one and she does them herself she makes these herself and i you know i have some of these at home and i can make them and uh i'd rather buy hers a lot easier to do right she also makes these totes and these are project totes and this is one she made it herself she paper pieces all of this i apologize for the lighting you guys it's as light as i can get it in this rv i think hey that's better you know this motorhome has two sets of shades on every window it has a sun shade and then it has a night shade and the sun shade is like a screen and the night shade is like a heavy white vinyl well i had lifted the white vinyl ones but not the sun shades so look at the light difference when i raise all the sun shades how nice huh okay so let me get back to this this is the tote it ties this is a tie that goes on here she made these herself and i really really like these these are great if you're going to a class you can get they have a pocket in them right here and she has velcro pull out individual zipper bags so there's different sizes of them there's one two three four five six zipper bags in here and then she included some of these this is um like a batting it has a paper backing and then there's a it's fuzzy so it'll hold your pieces and you can carry your projects in here and i think this is wonderful so got that again she makes these and then her husband makes this disappearing quilt block ruler this was her idea this is a two and an eighth so if you like making the missouri star quilt disappearing blocks this will precisely cut to the right size everything that you need whether you're and it's long enough to do the diagonal and all that i'll link to a video above right here where i show you where you can put this into practice this is a fabulous tool i have made the disappearing blocks and it's they're difficult because of that 1 8 inch and you have to have that eighth inch in order to get it right so that everything meets up and the only one that this does not work on is the disappearing nine patch but if you've got the disappearing block patterns and they're free all over youtube you can get them from the missouri star website uh then this is this is the ticket for you right here she also makes her own pins let me show you up close i don't have two cameras this time you guys isn't that aren't those pretty so they're kind of a purple a love and then these little flower looking pins aren't they pretty she makes these herself i love them i think they're awesome specialty pins by the fiber co-op made in the usa because vanessa makes them herself she gifted me some embroidery needles thinking i was going to embroider on the road i might i am you'll be surprised at that and she also gifted me this adorable cardinal pin cushion that she made herself i told her i have cardinals all over my house and she was so sweet she gifted this to me thank you vanessa i love it can't wait to get home and use it in my sewing room i picked up the armadillo pin cushion kit because i'm a texan and he looked pretty cool so i got this pin cushion kit i got the birdie pin cushion kit this is uh she says it can be made in two hours or less we'll see i'm not that quick and then i got the boar goat pen cushion kit because uh keith's granddaughter uh she shows bore goats and i thought that was real cute so got all of this i also picked up in her store i just love this she had two displays of book folding and i picked them both up uh this one says quilt can you see how this is done this is sophie's heart is the hardcover book take a look can you see that it says quilt look at that the way it is folded how cool i love this and then i also picked up the first wives club i read that when i was a teenager i think or in my early 20s and this one says stitch neat huh love this they're hardcover i'm gonna put one at each end of my desk in my sewing studio and i think they're going to be a great fit there okay we left san angelo and we made our way up to shamrock texas and i didn't make a video there michelle moore and her husband matt were so sweet to offer us accommodations for the night so they gave us a 50 amp hookup and a water hose and that was perfect shamrock is east of amarillo in the texas panhandle so that was a natural progression on our way up to colorado springs and we spent the night and michelle was so sweet to show me her sewing room and i'll put some pictures of it right here so that was very nice even michelle thank you so much we really appreciate the offer and the overnight stay was fabulous she's got great dogs everybody got along it was really really a lot of fun then we went on to colorado springs and while i was up there i had been invited by christine who owns jelly rolls to go which is an online shop which specializes in moda fabrics and christine is an amazing woman if you haven't seen it yet take a look at the video i did with her and look at her shop you can call in order and she and her husband do all the orders themselves put them all together and get them out into mailings every day and so anyway she was just awesome she was so sweet she gifted me for doing the video she gifted me um this fabric she said pick out anything you like i was like a kid in the candy store so i picked up mota tuppence i'm going to make a tote bag out of this and call it christine this is a beautiful beautiful line from moda i'm not going to take it apart because i'll never get it back together i tried that with a fat quarter bundle and failed miserably but it is a beautiful line i really really like it and uh so i got tuppence i'm going to make a tote bag out of that and i bought i got this for the lining and this for the handles and the top and bottom of the bag now one of the things i learned from christine that i was unaware of before is a find it is a pellon product and it's pellon 987f i will get up here so you can see the number up close pellon 987f christine sells it by the bolt she uses it in all of her totes wall hangings placemats this stuff is awesome i was unaware of it before meeting her the f stands for fusible so it's got the little glue bumps on the back it is very lightweight look at the hand the drape on this this uh this is a pellon product that goes inside of totes i love this i liked it so much i bought an entire bolt from her but look at the drape it is so soft and if you haven't used it yet in any of your standard you know like i said wall hangings place mats tote bags you need to check this out you can order it by the yard from jelly rolls to go you can order it by the bolt from jelly rolls to go i gotta buy the bolt because i make a lot of stuff and i've got a lot of stuff to make from the things that i bought and so i'm really glad this stuff is so nice it's really really nice she said she uses it in all of her tote bags that she makes and i see why i really like it and i want to thank christine for turning me on to that because that's going to be my standard go-to for inside of all of my things from now on so then the next stop was logan utah and that's where i went to kimberbell here is the video of my visit to kimberbell so you can take a look at that if you haven't already kim christopherson and her husband ryan were so nice they took me on a tour of the entire facility so they are not like a store that you can go to the kimber bell plant the where they have their warehouse and all that is not really open for tours anything you want of kimber bell kim has a twin sister chris and her quilt shop is called my girlfriend's quilt shop and it is just down the road from the kimber bell warehouse again the warehouse is not available for public tours okay but of course you can go shopping in the quilt shop you all know i'm not a fan of hand stitching but i have 3 000 miles of road tripping with nothing to do in the front seat so since i'm a captive audience while i was there at my girlfriend's quilt shop i picked up bonnie and camille quiltby and i like this book i actually saw this at another shop but i picked up this book because in the back it has a cross stitch of the entire quilt right here and so it's been a million years since i did any cross stitching so i got the book i love this you are here on the bookmark that is so cute and then the other side of the bookmark says don't worry girlfriend we'll save your spot isn't that cute and it comes in the book so that was real nice this is cosmo thread this is the thread kit that goes to make this cross stitch this is it right here so the book has all of these patterns in it to make the quilt as well i'll show you that you can make all the designs in the book just gorgeous beautiful stuff you can make table runners it gives you all the measurements for all this stuff so you can make the quilt or you can make individual blocks from it like that anyway yeah really nice plus the cross stitch pattern is in here and this is my so far i had to tear a bunch of it out and i've got one mistake on it i think i'm gonna leave it in there so far but i like it i'm having fun and um i'm uh i'm getting there now so we're going to get back next week i hope this doesn't become a ufo i'm going to try to finish it while i'm watching tv in the evenings but that that's going to depend that's usually not my norm so okay also while i was there at my girlfriend's quilt shop yeah i picked up a pile of stuff adorable halloween fabric that glows in the dark let me get up here and show you well first of all let me show you the panel i saw this on the wall i thought it was just sweet as can be and of course it's upside down and here you go so this is the panel i will put a picture of the finished quilt if i can find it i'd have to grab it out of the video okay it says trick or treat up at the top that is super cute with the ghosts and the jack-o'-lantern and it's got some pictures down there at the bottom and to finish that project i got this fabric right here i believe is a border these glow in the dark this is going to be a binding this is a orange and black dot and then i think this is going to be the backing i'm pretty sure and i got a whole yard of the orange and black dot because you can always use it this also glows in the dark this is adorable this line glow ghosts glow in the dark and look you selvage lovers look at the selvage on this panel isn't that precious they are doing such cute cute things so i got that that should be pretty easy to put together if your new quilter just grab a panel throw some borders on it and you're up and running i saw this hanging on the wall it was just precious this is an amy bradley designs it's called campers you see so it was so so cute and then it also has the patterns for this is applique has the patterns for keith and i in front of our camper and then you know the kids in front of their campers so you can make both of these wall hangings you can take any one of these campers and make this right here this wall hanging but i want to make this wall hanging i thought that was just i'm kind of angling it so the glare doesn't get you guys and i got the kit to make it they had put it's not the fabrics that were shown on the pattern but this is the kit look at all of these fabrics so the big red with the white dot is the borders but there it all is that is from my girlfriend's quilt shop in logan utah love this i'm a big kit fan because i don't like picking out fabrics from there we're still making our way up to moscow to rebs fab stash and we stopped in grangeville idaho to spend the night and i found your best friend's quilt shop specializes in kimber bell blanks and all things kimber bell and one of the cool things she does is she includes the embellishments in the kimber bell blank so that because they're due like once a month they'll do them she'll cut up the embellishments and put them into your blank for free for that month it's very cool and then you get the design for free as well i picked up the blank i'm going to show y'all of course i'm going to show you i picked up the blank for it's a pouch and there's a cactus i can't see that see i didn't want to take these apart because once i open them up who knows if i'll ever be able to get them back in and this is cool because this blank comes she included all of these embellishments with this so this was like it's like a mauve and it's kind of a velveteen on the outside and the blank has cactus under glass can you see that and because i'm a texan and i love all things texas i love cactus but here are all of the pieces including the vinyl to do cactus under glass so that's really cool but that is a deal with the kimber bell blank that if you buy the blank the pattern comes with it so that's very nice i'll put this back later so i don't rattle rappers in front of y'all don't stay right not you i'm looking at my dog i also picked up this kimber bell it includes 12 months of table toppers and i love this because i have a 48 inch square dining room table and you know runners are fine but they don't fit because it's not a long table it's a square and that's why i really like that and so i picked up this one it's a sewing applique all right so it has all if you wanted to scan this into your scan and cut and cut out your pieces you certainly could it gives you all the directions for putting the table toppers together okay but then it has a companion cd so let me show you what we got let me see yeah all the pieces that you need you could certainly do by hand so here's one for each month okay so there's january february march right see that that's great i think that's what that is they look holiday-ish to me right so there's christmas love it then of course you source your own fabrics right so i got this but then i also got the companion embroidery cd now i could certainly do this by scanning in the pieces into the scanning cut and then downloading the fcm file into simply applique and then just have the embroidery designs myself but i did pick up the cd uh because i'm lazy so there you go gives you another idea of how to make all you know i like this because it has the idea of the fabrics to use in the designs and i also picked up they had one 30 off and i love it it had camper it had a camper and it was 30 off this is off her sail rack i don't know if i grabbed the last one or not you can make hood sizes 4x4 to 9x9 you can make all of these cute little designs and i loved it for the camper so if you don't want to put the little tabs you've got coasters you've you can make mug rugs so it comes with a flag a ice cream cone a boat a piece of watermelon and a camper and i wanted the camper i still am in your best friend's quilt shop in grangeville idaho i shouldn't point that's rude i picked up this riley blake pillow project this is the sunflower sun sunflower there's one for every month this is the one for june has the big sun i didn't get one for every month i just picked up this one and they have one it has an embroidery in it and it shows it embroidered with mother so this is from may for mother's day i'm probably going to put thompson on there and throw it in the rv or something so one of the things i don't have that i need is like a yardstick you know with a hanging on it that says power tools with thread keith and becky thompson and put it outside i need that but we just bought this in april and i was up to here with mary and bright so along with you guys from oesd if you haven't done that it's awesome it's a fabulous wall hanging i'll put a link right here to video number one and then you can follow the series also while i was in your best friend's quilt shop and get grangeville i picked up a bench pillow i have several kimber bell bench pillow projects i think and no bench pill you can't find these anywhere they're impossible but this is the size that goes in the current bench pillow projects that are out there and then christina was so sweet she gave me her uh two and a half inch by let's see one two three four five yeah two and a half by seven inch ruler which says your best friend's quilt shock llc and it is from creative grids [Music]
