This is my documentary. Glad you guys like it. Would anyone be interested in an AMA?
I used to do these things around New York when I was 16 when it was an extremely dangerous city in the 1980s. We were always exploring, biking through cool cemeteries in Brooklyn after hours, climbing around skyscraper construction sites with Old English 40s in hand. Once my friend and I were walking around an abandoned train track line at night just like these guy and out of the darkness a gang of kids came out from under a trestle we had just walked through and chased us for what felt like hours. Somehow we outran them and managed to escape. Man that was some scary shit, it was straight out of The Warriors.
One of my favorite documentaries. Although I wish I could find the songs used, I believe by DJ shadow. He and Andrew wonder do some pretty awesome trespassing. They filmed a sequel to this, except I think it was sponsored by a boot company and filmed in and around Las Vegas. I'll have to find that one again.
I've probably watched this a half a dozen times. Great short documentary.
While this is awesome and exciting, please let it be known that this is illegal on top of being extremely unsafe. It is unsafe for the reason (mentioned in the video) that one of the rails ("the third rail") is electrified. Touching this rail will kill you, not if's, and's, or but's. Also, getting hit by a moving train is hazardous to your health.
Cool doc. That dude has balls.
Just came here to say Steve Duncan is a badass and this has been one of my favorite documentaries for a while now. Check out part 2 and 3 if you enjoyed this!
A site my buddy made of our endeavors. A look at urban exploration in the midwest. http://greatlakesurbanex.com/
