and all that time it ain't never ever ever resembled the game it's one of those situations where you know if y'all can't get this going after 14 years and you had it [ __ ] up in the first place maybe you need to quit so how was it when they first started started trying to do it well the reason why mark wahlberg is involved in this is because oh what's the guy that did uh oh man mark wahlberg was in one of his movies david o'russell david o russell thank you oh he was gonna do david o russell was gonna do this this movie has been in the in the makings for so long that that that mark wahlberg he aged out he he aged out of nathan drake even though nathan drake if they did it properly would probably be closer to his ass exactly but they want to go younger because i don't know sequels and stuff yeah but yeah but yeah so you start start young you can make more yeah and when david russell did it it he just he said i'm making my own thing i'm just making another movie yeah he somebody gave him a playstation he threw that [ __ ] up yeah thinking about the kind of director david o'russell is i can't even see him making some kind of movie like this they said they gave him a playstation they said david man it's a great game play it research it and i promise you'll get a great movie out of this and you wait up in the league like yeah did you play it i couldn't even figure out how to turn the thing off yeah i couldn't try because i broke my playstation when i threw it across the room so let's do my [ __ ] huh yeah that's how long this has been happening okay the travis knight from laker uh-huh a leica yeah he came in and everybody was like thank god thank god y'all finally got him and then sony saw the script and they were just kind of like you know what this is too good you're fired you gotta go oh really i don't know if they said that but okay he did leave because he's like yeah y'all creative differences oh so okay so probably a lot of stuff he asked for they were like we don't want to pay for that yeah travis travis knight is the son of the guy who uh phil knight the guy who uh who's over nike uh you know y'all know the guy chili t he was a rapper at one time kind of a joke but then he went on to be this amazing director an animator right uh and and he did bumble bee and all and so he was everybody was like yes you're the one and the mother but i said you know yeah but i was the one that said you know what is too good to be true i'm not one to judge you know just uh based on a story gossip articles i'm not even one to base my judgment on a trailer even though i have my trepidations by looking at this right here i said i'm going to give it a chance even though they changed a lot of things around you know as they say this is not your daddy's uncharted right here apparently ain't your mamas or anybody else now you know they've changed things sometimes you change things for the better when you have to make it for a mainstream audience well i mean with an adaptation you shouldn't do a direct translation because everybody's seen it already you got to bring something new to it i agree with that so how do we feel about this well i'm gonna tell you with uncharted for those who are fans of the game i can tell you some things that have already changed so in this version we have a very young nathan drake played by tom holland which you've had a young nathan drink in uh flashbacks in the game but now this is his story uh instead of being a you know somewhat of a of a of a rascally street urchin you know this time he's a he's actually pretty he's a smooth bartender you know he's a he's kind of a sexy kid who also is very very smart with history because he learned it all from his brother and then all of a sudden when he's working at the bar doing his shift and uh stealing people's [ __ ] uh kind of being a dick yeah no remorse whatsoever uh she's rich she can afford it yeah that's when i'm a mysterious stranger who looks just like marky mark comes in and he says you know kid i saw you take that [ __ ] and you know what i'm not gonna tell you to give it back i'm actually gonna give you a job he's like you know i could use a person of your dickery right now because uh you got what it takes to go to to go get this treasure in this gold and seek out these big pirate you know the caribbean looking ships and we can all be rich and i knew your brother this is what's gonna really get you because if it's not gonna be the money if it's not gonna be the promise of adventure that brother that you never saw again after he left the the uh uh the orphanage or whatever after he left the orphanage and said hey i'll see you again one day and he never did well i know where he is and i can find him for you now that'll be your treasure if you don't want anything else of course little nathan drake says well you know what if you don't tell me to take me to my brother of course i'm in and that is when the adventure begins and where the relationship to the game is because y'all like i ain't never seen that [ __ ] in the game but that's not always a bad thing as brother martin over here said hey sometimes you don't want to see just a copy a straight adaptation mix it up a little bit catch everybody off their toes i mean you played the game you don't want to go to the movie and see the same thing do you you just be cheating yourself are you just whining because you're entitled to that thing that you know and you just can't give it up let's go ahead and take a look at this trailer for uncharted which a lot of people already seen but hey doesn't hurt to see it again [Music] all right i'm gonna tell you something man in the beginning uh a little worried at the start because uh in the beginning uh the movie starts with another actor playing tom holland yeah he's young tom holland the actor looks nothing like him by the way which made me say that you know what the [ __ ] man tom holland looks 15 years old you're right like the kid was supposed to be 15 that played i'm like tom holland looks 15. just put a skateboard in his head and some some messy hair and he's he's back in junior high after that well he tends to look so young i was afraid they would do that yeah i was like i was like that the kid the fit the the actual 15 that's playing tom holland looks older than tom holland i was like yeah i'm sorry tom holland is a good looking guy but tom holland he's got that baby face man he does but he's packed on a lot more muscle now sorry it makes him look a little older if he ain't showing them muscles he looks like he's 15. and i'm being nice like i said give him a skateboard that fool's back in junior high man i'm like y'all got some nerds casting a kid that looks like he's the same age as tom holland and they're to tell us oh man that's when he's a little boy [ __ ] tom i was a little boy what are you talking about i'm just going to come straight with it y'all and i'm going to tell you because the question is does this break the video game curse of video games being adapted to film uh i'm gonna say real quick no but the other question is okay maybe this doesn't it doesn't live up to that but is it at least decent is it fun well let me just go ahead and talk to the gamers out there because regardless of what people feel about the gamers and how they're voicing their you know their opinions about this they are the ones that played the game you know overall they are the target audience you know they are the fans that make the game popular enough to where they made a movie so i'm you know to be honest with you you know with my opinion right here uh this right here is it it does not only not break the curse but it's another insult to the fans this is something where you know not much maybe one or two things you know a few things but not much resembles the video game you know the personalities of the original characters they're completely off you know they they're made to fit the actors instead so they're not the characters in the game at all man and that's saying a lot these are not just you know some generic avatars that are running around these are personalities that people love naughty dog is known for like telling great stories with great characters so these characters are like you know it's a very cinematic game and these characters are very memorable because they got great personalities that's not the case right here you know the story has changed uh to appeal to a wider audience sometimes that's necessary but when you start making up so many unnecessary story lines while taking out important ones then you really do start to lose the essence of what made that story great uh you know but and this is what's really insulting to me here's what they're thinking they do all this stuff to change the movie from the game they change it to just get rid of most of the stuff that made the game great but to them they say you know because we put in a scene from the game that that that everybody loves you know because they put that wow there's a lot more effective in the game yeah they put the you know because they put that set piece in there that everybody remembers from the game oh because oh look at that you know because they got they they put a mustache on on on mark wahlberg look at that they they put a mustache on mark wahlberg just like the guy from the game just like sully from the game you know because they did that they can sit back and say see uh huh look what we did just like the game and then they turn around and expect you to kiss their ass like they did it for you like they really did something special like you supposed to sit up there and be like oh my god you really brought the game to life for us i don't [ __ ] off with that man you know they do this all the time they never they never learn this has been a consistent problem with video game adaptations not changing things but changing things so much that you lose the essence of what made the what made that story of that game so special you know anything like doom or something you just run around shoot monsters this is an actual this this is an actual cinematic game right here a lot of people say i don't even know why you making the movie because the game is like a movie that actually was going to be my first point it's pointless to make a movie you're you're working at a deficit because the game has already covered this ground as as well as can be yeah making a movie off of the game that's already imitating movies it's just masturbation yeah it no it is y'all go to hell with this man as far as voicing it for the fans out there i'll go straight to hell with this i'm not some nerd who's sitting up here feeling entitled that why you changing at one time was doing you know they never learned anything from those mistakes man they made the same mistakes and plus they'll think that they'll just get people in the first weekend because when you see when you see that that trailer and you see uh that that part from the game you know they think that you'll see that and you'll oh we're gonna have plenty more of that in the movie nah nah that's one thing in there that's like the game maybe something else i can tell you right now a lot of that isn't uh for those of you who think that i'm sitting up here again just being some kind of video game snob you know whether i'm sitting up here again feeling entitled about this thing is i don't mind the changes i really i don't i don't i'm not one to sit up here because i think the same way you do yeah i think change it up a little bit sure put in a surprise for the for the people played the game in addition to the people never seen it before yeah don't sell me the same [ __ ] i already bought yeah i wouldn't mind the changes if the movie i thought was good yeah that's it yeah okay because your whole rant in the beginning i was like look i've played the games and i'm a big fan i like them and with the you know honestly when you talk about those those days though those dark ages when they made superhero movies where they didn't try to adhere to the comic books at all yeah i'm so used to that to where like oh wow you got the costume right oh thank you so with this i was like all right well you know so much of the costuming or sets are you know they they clearly looked at the game to do this but the longer it goes on the more i was like all right these changes they're none of them are for the better no they aren't making it more dynamic i like i got to where early on i decided i'm a divorce myself from the the games and just look at this as a movie as if i never played one of these games and i thought all right tom holland he's not really you know the nathan phillian-esque nathan drake but he's supposed to be young okay before he's nathan drake that we know i i'll buy into that and tom holland he's got enough you know he's got a certain charm to himself when they aren't making him a dick like they do in the very beginning yeah um but uh mark wahlberg who not only you know like you look at him you go like he's miscast but he's just super miscast he comes in he uh he has no comedic timing he's got no kind of charisma with with sully i'm like i'm not trying to compare him to sully but god damn you need a real sully in here i would say better things that the movie was good and i think in very small parts in small parts it is it's all it's all right i will tell you this though you know we getting into it uh tom holland and mark wahlberg uh this is not nathan drink and victor sully those are two those are two main characters in the game this is this is mark wahlberg and peter parker i ain't even tom holland that's peter parker that he's hanging around with he's more like peter parker yeah he's peter parker who learned to be a little cooler who learned to talk to girls who and who decided to use his spider powers for bad he he does do more acrobatics as nathan drake than he does as spider-man yeah he's actually doing [ __ ] that spider-man wouldn't even live through but he's like if he's peter parker's if peter parker went to college and got a job at a bar and got his [ __ ] together yeah that ain't no that ain't no nathan drake y'all that's peter parker no that ain't tom holland that's peter parker yeah you know how mark was talking hey you gonna get that cross hey hey you wanna gonna adventure take it to your brother hey my brother told me you know about things you wanna wanna adventure yeah i was just like how are they looking at these dailies and not going yeah we got to get somebody else this [ __ ] i never bought that he was somebody who knew all this history right here not at all yeah yo that's my map i look at that map every day see that crayon drawing on there i get that this map you got this man from a burger king yeah yeah so what it's real we'll find some treasure he does i like this jalapeno peppers yeah hey you spiderman i you know i i'm forgiving of tom holland because i thought he'd be worse because the whole time when he announced him it was just like why what are you doing and then watching i'm like all right not as bad as i thought and wahlberg comes in and stinks up the place where i'm like he's all i can focus on hey look i got a mustache hey look at my hair look at my lip hair you know they they actually get a these two they i would say that if they weren't so terribly miscast and we were just watching a a mark wahlberg movie and tom holland just happened to be in it and then they went on adventures like that you know then it might because there are points when tom holland is so he's he's so sweet and he's so likable that he just makes the chemistry work between he's he's he's he's doing the line share of it he's carrying on his back but he he is making it work in spurts tom holland he needs those muscles because he's carrying that big right there he's carrying him like a wounded soldier to this movie man nothing against mark wahlberg i like mark wahlberg he actually has in his own mark wahlberg way natural delivery but again it's mark wahlberg the action in this i you know i i did like some parts of action in the movie it's it's uh it's very inconsistent because some of it is good and then some of it is shot too close or just when you get halfway through it's so convoluted yeah well you know i can't i can't deal well like i like the light scene but that was one was like it's going on yeah you know it's like i can't i can't tell what's happening i see him fall on his ass you know he's like damn that hurt i talked about how he put that scene in from the game you know the the plane scene with the cargo uh i actually like what they did with it in the movie i think it worked i thought it was actually pretty exciting um that was one better choreograph actions part parts that they put in there because that was the part they were going to use to sell the movie yes yes you you could see that they were like if we do do nothing else right we got to get this didn't you know but they you know man this is this you know this this this is the bait right here yeah yeah this is what they put a lot of work into that because they knew i'm putting the trailer and in fact they put like a long cut of this out on the internet because they knew y'all would watch that and when they did that it's like that that's how we gonna get them oh damn it these things keep freezing right yeah i don't know these henchmen just dumb as hell man i'm getting that a little bit that's what i was waiting i was waiting on that stupid son of a [ __ ] to get hit in the face they don't have spider powers dude they ain't got brain powers [ __ ] if there was a ever time to quit your job it's right there with tom holland doing what he does in the movie here uh the reason why i say he works is because tom holland is so he's so funny with the uh with the stuff that he's doing he's got kind of a you know i'm not gonna say he when i say this don't take it too literally but he's got kind of a jackie chan thing going on yeah yeah like the way silent film stars were with their physical comedy yeah plus jackie chan whenever he was beating somebody's ass he always said i'm sorry i'm sorry yeah and tom holland he killed somebody he's like i'm so sorry i was like you know what that's a nice kid man kill somebody apologize you don't see heroes doing that usually no you don't but the movie man at best at best it's just average yeah and i'm being i'm being kind saying that man you know it's at best it's just it's just average man you know to the point where it's it's painfully painfully average it it is it's just like i said divorce it from the game just watch it as a movie itself it's uh you know it's somewhat interesting in the setup but then once it really gets going it stops being interesting and make the longer it goes the less interesting it becomes locations in this are beautiful man you know they actually you know there's a lot of cg in here but where they go to film sometimes looks very nice uh but as i said man it's so painfully average that it's i mean there are so many other movies out there that have done this same format and done it so much better don't you get it ben the treasure is a myth i refuse to believe that but what do you think you're a racist maybe that's why i like national treasure because this racist crazy son of a [ __ ] is in there let's go find some slaves national treasure we're bringing slavery back yeah i'm all in i will tell you that this film here everybody's chasing that indiana jones yeah but this one at least had its own spin on indiana jones you know hey i'm gonna steal the it's nicholas cage said i'm gonna steal the declaration of independence some of y'all thinking that's really nicholas saying that cause he's that crazy no this is this is that's a premise i'm gonna steal a declaration of independence are you with me crazy but this this this at least had his own idea you know i'm gonna steal the declaration of independence and we're gonna go on this adventure in the capitol sure the catacombs of the capital hey i like the idea and i wish it was a better movie but you know like i said uh way more original than something like uncharted man charity just feels like another another indiana jones ripoff yeah yeah yeah it does it and that's the thing because watching it you go all right you guys are more modern you got money to hit these locations yeah you got a video game to draw from inspiration from you you all the elements are here for you to take this and do something new something something interesting something make it your own but something that makes it stand out so people don't go oh it's an indiana jones ripoff and yet it's an indiana jones ripoff yeah and not a good one i mean antonio banderas he showed up to work apple's trying to get an academy award with uncharted [Music] but yet and oh by the way he's also a character that's not in the games he's made just for the movie uh he's giving this his all he's got to do his job but he's just it no matter how much he's doing man his dialogue is terrible and he's just a typical evil corporate guy that's all it comes down to uh tatty gabrielle plays a character braddock also not in the game but there's a character like that like that yeah but uh she was so good and you i believe yeah yeah she was uh she's just your average cold-blooded murderous henchwoman who's at least smarter than that henchmen as you see in the background right there those those those damn henchmen if they use it if they're using their bodies they ain't using nothing cause they ain't definitely using their brains i can't believe that at uh all this time nobody has made a movie or tv show about henchmen about henchmen where one is once talking to the new guy he's like hey man just lay back yeah yeah because yeah you see these [ __ ] running up there let let them do that you go around you go you run your ass out there tell you what here's two things lay back and shut the [ __ ] up because if that don't kill you out there the boss gonna kill you just to prove a point okay go ahead dude listen to me listen watch this pick up the gun and just fire just out there yeah don't even hit anybody oh man i got this i tried to tell you anyway yeah man these henchmen man they talk about using your head they use there to stop [ __ ] take things these are some of the dumbest henchmen man it didn't seem that way in the beginning because you had focused on the two henchmen and the one scottish one who you couldn't understand i was like hey that's kind of a funny thing that then you know give it some personality but it didn't last no especially that especially that scottish henchman that they got here he's one of the dumbest ones almost all of them you know the reason why they're dying is because they're throwing themselves in front of [ __ ] i mean when they they go head first in give people opportunity to take aim at that big ass head that they got do you think it's another puzzle this definitely isn't gina tonic but it is on the house yes [Laughter] some people do anything for free drinks you knocked ass with other clubs out the way she got swept into the crowd but yeah this dumb son of a [ __ ] they ain't that they learned a thing in this movie man don't go ahead first observe yes okay whoa whoa whoa let me go pina colada walked into that with it this chick that is from the game uh chloe chloe frazier is the character from the game played by sophie ally you know there she is in the game right there but and she she's she's so much a character in the game she's got a own game out there uh this chloe right here not so much man she's she's one note and she's in and out most of the time you know and plus she's just there to make the audience wonder oh she going i'm hollering you know she's that maybe romantic interest yeah you know maybe not who knows is she romantic interests are will she betray the duo who knows well in the game it seemed like you know possibly her and nathan had a romantic past or something and i i gave him points for casting somebody who looks like the character and okay well this is early before she's the competent person we know so yeah maybe but but but you're right about her being one no they that that was the thing it's like you got enough going on here you could actually turn this into something but they don't develop her enough no no you know the most the most disappointing thing right here the thing that really hurts is that they had something if they had just they could have had something that would have been a win for everybody the fans of the game and the people who even know the game they had they already had it there fans of non-fans now if they had listened to the fans though and pulled a deadpool because what the fans did they say listen i know we say a lot of things and a lot of times we just we're talking about ass but we know that this character is meant to this this actor is meant to be this character ryan reynolds is meant to be deadpool the fans put it out there brian reynolds he made a fan film yeah and it worked the fans of uncharted they wanted nathan drake we didn't have to go with tom holland they wanted nathan drake and i believe i believed so much that they had cast nathan drake no i'm sorry uh uh nathan philia if they had cast if they had cast nathan fillion man as nathan drake they would have had something nathan drake um goddammit uh uh nathan phillian oh what what's this that's that's philly yeah god don't they need to change their names nathan fillion he pulled up he pulled a ron reynolds man you know he he had a fan filmmaker did he really he had a found a fan film made made as a nathan uh drake oh wow nathan fillion and you look at that fan film and you say of course sony get on it because when i play the games it is just so obviously him and i know it's nolan north doing the voice but uh you like the you look the face the mannerisms the sound of the voice it's yeah you can't picture anybody else but him it was when you know it was one thing to put it out there just based on the picture but after they did this short film it was like it's obvious all y'all got to do is pull the trigger green light it let's go oh that's ltgre [Laughter] well presented i was scared have fun the attitude the wisecracking yeah you know if they had cast nathan fillion as nathan drake i guarantee you would have had a much better movie uh just by casting him alone and there's a whole layer to the video game there's a whole other video game like a supernatural aspect of it that's completely missing here that's right and that would have been so cool if they had it in there because if you had that supernatural element in there and you had nathan fillion reacting to that with his you know his comedic timing and wisecracks everybody would have been having fun man everybody would have been happy um well initially i thought well i guess nathan philly is too old but then i played recently played the the fourth game thank you alec miracle for giving me that um where nathan drake is older so i was like no well then he could totally could have done it you already had all the casting out there you know you had you had nathan fillion and there were so many people that could have played sully [ __ ] you could have played sully more than mark wahlberg but the one you know people put a couple of pictures out there and said look man it's right there and don't worry about the actor because the actor can act people say brian cranston oh yeah get him to be solid [ __ ] wow you know it's it's it it was it was all there but no you know what the movie wanted to do the movie wanted to cast younger because first of all tom holland is spider-man so you know that's a that's a big name plus also they want to go younger just in case there's any sequels out there that they need to keep going with and sony already had tom hollands yeah they already own him yeah that's what they were going for man you know they went they went for the bigger names and the lazier script and the result isn't is a barely enjoyable uh but run-of-the-mill action flick man i can maybe i can't speak for everybody but for a lot of people i don't think when it comes to let's let's watch some adventure movie man i don't think uncharted is going to be a lot of people's first choice sure sure unless they're just in the mood to watch an adventure flick on a streaming service and they don't know anything about it yeah it has a game yeah exactly but yeah i look at this i i don't hate it because it it's easy to get you know take out to take to take out on the movie all the frustrating things that they've done and it is very frustrating but also looking looking at as a movie and removing myself from the game if you just remove the name it ain't that good but there are some parts that are that are good tom holland is fun uh i do have respect for the locations the time they put into certain set pieces so it's this is just a rental man i mean it's leaning on the lower side of a rental it's def i'll tell you this for fans of the game it's some more [ __ ] i mean they really are disrespecting you and insulting you it's [ __ ] complete [ __ ] but you know for average person out there watching this it's just a rental it's a forgettable rental man so the way you started this i thought we'd end up at two different places what'd you think i'm gonna hate it yeah yeah i don't hate it yeah yeah you you came with a lot of anger for the for the fans well they should be angry yeah i mean i i get that i just said you know i i don't know what the cutoff is for the fans because i'm a fan and i'm not angry it's just more of like a oh well they did it again uh it's like it's like is that not the worst thing but it's forgettable once once it's all said and done uh all in all i'm with you it's it's a rental yeah i say anger that might be a little that might be a little bit of a stretch but i you know i am frustrated very frustrated because this we've had plenty of movies that have done this like i said from video games to superhero movies and they'll make them money so that's not the thing that matters to them you know they don't care about that's what i and that's what i'm really uh disappointed in they don't care about y'all man it's certain there's always certain studios that are doing it you know we've had examples of if we do this the right way the the everybody will show up it took them decades to understand that with superhero movies yeah look at deadpool is another great example because look at what they did with deadpool in one movie and completely messed that character up and nobody liked it once they got it right people showed up in droves yeah you know sony just doesn't give a [ __ ] man that's what it comes down to and you know if y'all got that attitude i'm close to giving us a [ __ ] you with that attitude you know that's just that's just a funky ass attitude they had because uh you know this is obvious but yeah it should also point out that this is directed by ruben fleischer zombieland uh venom oh he did venom mm-hmm thank you didn't he do zombieland uh yeah yeah you're right because the name just sounds familiar yeah yeah yeah i think you're right i think you're right forgot he had done venom's yeah you're gonna
