Trying MUST EAT Icelandic food in Reykjavík | Iceland Honeymoon Part 1

[Music] I'm Tori and I'm Matt come with us on our honeymoon adventure to the incredible country of Iceland we ate the most delicious food and experienced the natural beauty and wonders of the Icelandic Countryside and we even stayed at the iconic Blue Lagoon Resort [Music] it's a travel day we made our way through the incredibly busy and always bustling LAX unfortunately there were no direct flights from LA so we stopped in Seattle first before flying eight hours to Iceland we flew through a lightning storm overnight but besides that it was a pretty smooth trip to Reykjavik when we landed there was the cutest little convenience store so we picked up some goodies before heading to our hotel to be completely honest we were so jet-lagged at this point I don't even really remember taking this footage I'm really tired [Music] [Applause] [Music] while we wait for our hotel to get ready we decided we would visit the church that everyone's been talking about we are extremely jet lagged extremely tired but we're trying to push on there's a big pride festival happening this week so that's pretty cool so you're going to see like this a ton of Pride Flags everywhere the bells are chiming the guards are out standing watch sick going on in some fun facts about this church it's the largest church in Iceland and took 41 years to build construction started in 1945 and was completed in 1986 just in time for the 200 year anniversary of Reykjavik the concert organ has 5275 pipes and weighs over 25 tons the largest organ in Iceland foreign [Music] so we just made it back into our hotel we finally got to check in it's me we're here we're showered we're changed we're feeling good welcoming here we are so this is our Queen room that we booked this is a beautiful beautiful room it's got pretty much everything you could need a coffee maker and we have our little desk here the bathroom is really nice the tile floor is heated the shower is super nice and we have a great view out here of just like this little Center oh my gosh beautiful gorgeous view outside the hotel but yeah we're super tired I'm ready to to fall asleep and then we'll wake up tomorrow refreshed and ready to go so we will see you guys tomorrow morning night night [Music] and we're here yeah it's it's we're on our honeymoon I'm super super excited for this day I feel much more awake much more alive much better we were kind of expiring yesterday yeah we were just exhausted it was the longest and most grueling travel day we've ever had yeah but we survived but we're ready here we're ready to have some fun [Music] this was the first hotel we stayed at during our visit and I loved it if I was building a house this is exactly how I would design it it was about 268 US dollars a night and was located right in the city center so it was really easy to walk to all the best restaurants and spots in the city if you're looking for an affordable but super central place to stay in Reykjavik I would definitely check this spot out my favorite part about the hotel is definitely the breakfast buffet [Music] well I think I've ever seen and I got bacon and then for the grand finale we bought the famous yogurt the Icelandic I think it's scary I think but it's blueberry yeah this is like the most amazing Buffet okay give me a first bite of the of something I think I was truffle on it it's truffle piece of where you are yeah it's very rich it's like thick and creamy yeah that's amazing [Music] thank you we're gonna head to the Reykjavik Roasters we've got some coffee we just had an amazing breakfast at the hotel restaurant the best continental breakfast I have ever had it was absolutely insane like that oh I can't wait to do that every morning while we're here so that'll be good but yeah we're gonna go grab some coffee and just keep our day rolling yeah alrighty [Music] one of the best parts of staying in the city center was that you could really walk everywhere you could walk to the bars you could walk to the restaurants all the sites that you want to see there I was a little bit nervous at first because they didn't have Uber but it didn't matter everything was probably within an eight mile radius [Music] so we just got our coffees at the Reykjavik roasters it was so good oh it was delicious it wasn't even sweet and I still liked it but this was like real coffee it wasn't like you know you get pizza or Starbucks and it's like really sweet it was like real really sweet or really burnt no this was really good this was real stuff and it was super good so we're just gonna go walk around do some shopping I love these buildings too they remind me they're so colorful and beautiful okay all right check in later bye oh [Music] so I have a theory about why they paint all the buildings so beautiful and colorful it's giving Cosmo and Wanda I think it's because typically it's pretty cold in Iceland and gray and so very colorful buildings create a nice contrast and brightness to the day so something we need to kind of think about getting I would like to get a beanie like a white beanie or something that will match by their outfits because yeah I'm a wimp and this is cold for me wearing the beanies like keeps me warm the beanie store is closed right now it's okay we're gonna get it what time is it 10 we need to get in at 11. it just it just turned 10. okay maybe we maybe we just keep walking and come back because this is exactly what I need the gloves are in there the beanies right there let's do it we'll come back okay [Music] even though we were visiting in the summertime it's still pretty cold it was about 50 degrees so we popped into 66 degrees north which is a popular Icelandic brand and went to pick out some stuff for the week please don't I have to get it do you like it I love it it's so cute she got it what did we say 30 270. 39 . it's about 300. I'm gonna get it get it do we like this color I think it's fun yeah we're gonna take cute pictures in front of stuff you should totally get it okay what'd you get I got a very very cute is it a raincoat windbreaker yeah something cute can I see it orange I'm gonna wear it on our um either tomorrow or the next day yes we're headed to the hand knitting Association of Iceland we're gonna try and find some hand knit beanies and some hand knit sweaters yeah wants to get a sweater yeah I want to get a beanie oh look there's the church up there too [Music] okay so we just visited the hand knit store that's our 300 it's 300 bucks so they're beautiful but I don't know that I would wear one anywhere but on this trip so I think I'm Gonna Save it and see if I find something that I must have and then I'll spend the money you've got a lamb dog we got a lamb hot dog oh my God I'm excited to try this it's so messy oh my gosh this is my favorite thing we've had so far that is phenomenal oh oh beef oh God oh God there's a bee on my the bee attacks the hot dog oh there he is again why does he want this [Music] let's go over here [Music] it's in my hair oh my God I'm not having fun here like Walk This Way this is a wild experience oh there it goes The Beatles trying to get a bite of our hot dog but Tori swatted him away with her hair everyone's looking I was like we're crazy which we are but okay now we're off to Cafe Loki to try some traditional Icelandic food there they have mashed Herring mashed fish on rye bread toast they're very famous for their rye bread ice cream which I'm really really looking forward to trying let's get it me [Music] [Music] it smells really good okay give it a taste all right [Music] it's good wow it tastes like clam chowder for some reason mashed fish sounds unappetizing but it tastes really good not your favorite ice cream go ahead is it super good that's the best thing I've ever had that is that's the best thing for today oh my gosh that's a hot take the ice cream was phenomenal that was for me that's my favorite thing I've had today so far for me the hot dog let's see if it can get replaced yeah so now we're gonna go to the hotel we're gonna get changed um get ready for our eating tour continues our eating tour continues we're going down to the harbor and then we'll go have dinner and probably second dinner laughs [Music] [Music] all right we're continuing the food tour we're going to what I've been looking forward to for this entire trip um the fish and chips and pickled mayonnaise so I'm extremely hyped for that and then we're also going to stop at see Baron yes and have their famous lobster soup and a fish skewer yeah I've really been looking forward to but I bet I'm gonna like fish and chips better you might you might [Music] okay I want to try a fry in each one this is the tartar sauce the tartar test fried cheer stealing it oh [Applause] my gosh I'm never going to be able to eat fish and chips again it's so delicious it's like not fishy at all I'm definitely starting to finally get a little full a little I'm just like so full after this believe it or not we're going to try one more thing and then we will have hit all the places that we like really wanted to go [Music] foreign [Music] that is amazing Takes the Cake the lobster soup it's hard to describe the flavor profile because it was like creamy but then had some spices it was thin though it was a thin yeah like it was a true soup not a chowder and I respect that not a what's the other word a bisque it wasn't a bisque it was yeah it was a soup it was a true soup it's around me and the lobsters too please the lobster was super Super Fresh everything was like melt in your mouth oh my gosh I bet you they like literally went out and caught it today yeah it was so fresh they definitely there was only like 10 seats it was really intimate and cool and there's still a lot like the line has grown out there so we we got there like five minutes before they opened and there was already a line so we were kind of lucky to get in as quick as we did okay it's like it okay now try this one such good fish it's so fresh what was your favorite fish that you had at this place I liked the blue fin is that what it's called yeah it wasn't called Blue Fin one blue blue wasn't Blue Gill I said it right while we were sitting down this is wolf fish this is the blue the blue wings blue Ling wolf fish all right I heard the wolf fish which I really liked it was kind of like a um halibut almost and then yeah it was meteor the garlic sauce was super good that was like I I preferred that though even though the Chipotle meal was really good I like the garlic sauce I like this one more you like that this one's the winner I mean this this sauce is the
