in this video we just going to reminder why I like Indian food so much we made it to quala lumu Malaysia you got out here in this little box and it's an overhang Malaysia is a Melting Pot of different Asian Cuisines and today we're going to check out what Indian food looks like here on the streets of kual alumur so we just arrived in the Little India District here in K alumur it's not far from the city center and the train stops actually called KL Central so we're here to start off the day with a little bit of a breakfast or slash brunch item and uh can't wait let's go Indian [Music] food so good morning from Little India in qual lmour I'm starting with a very classic South Indian breakfast here I have a masala tea it's nice and warm with milk and spices a lot of us in the US know it as a chai latte oh and it's so good I love it nice and warm way to start day but here I have a very classic breakfast so I have a medu which we tried in India it is like a Savory fried dough it's made of black lentils in there and then we have a green Chutney I'm curious if this is spicy we have a zul and then we have an idly this is a nice fermented black lentil cake with rice in there it's steamed so it's got this nice fluffy thing looks fluffy the question is how are you going to eat that with my hands obviously do I just I'm just going to break this apart there we go it's beautiful look at that fluffy do not expect a donut it's not a donut it's so fluffy it's so warm nicely fried so you hear that crunch so we have a nice green Chutney here it's a little thicker than I've seen and uh I'm curious smells nice M that has a nice spice to it the green CH never disappoints yeah I know South Indian Cuisine is known for more of like the spicier stuff there's a decent amount of spice there everyone just says Indian Cuisine spicy but it's not the case we learned let me try this idly I'm going to break it apart oo look at that so it is rice and fermented lentils all steamed together to make this nice cake it's a very common breakfast I think I want to just pour some ghee on there beautiful I'm going to actually try it with this here we go here we go look at this chunk I love it I like rice but when you make it fluffy with lentils it's awesome it's like rice cake it's amazing and the second thing we ordered for breakfast kind of is this right here look at this this is a masala dosa and it's basically this rice crib which is deep fried and then it's filled with spiced potatoes there's also some Geon here which I'm not sure if I just pour that on here pour the gon pour the G on onto this bread I think this is this is actually a nice handheld look at this thing it's pretty huge what are you doing I'm just going to try like that why not that's how you eat a Dosa apparently look at that that's beautiful oh look at that potato I have an idea I don't know if this is so it probably not you don't unwrap it usually but D look at the potatoes in there and what if I just pour some green Chutney in there with it is this more of a site or sauce I would assume this is more of a a soup side right to eat on the side ooh the flavors are nice very strong like this lentil sbar now let's see it's a nice Sandwich Man roll it like a rat Phil makes all of his food into a wrap look at this thing amazing that's good looking the ghee is running around my mouth dude the rice cream is so nice it's not what you expect it's oily but not too oily I think the most oiliness came from the the ghee that I put on but it has a nice Crunch and it's not just fatty it it's flavorful by itself but then you have the potatoes on the inside nicely spiced and then with all the chutneys and everything this just amazing I'm just going to dip it into this orange one I just get remind I know why I like Indian food so much it's so flavorful and just such a good hearty experience every time you start the day off like this it's not the worst way I think dosas are some of the best breakfast items it's always so satisfying and Hearty I always like the colors the orange the r that's what I like about Indian food Pakistani food so beautiful but the Dosa this the way to go that was a good brunchish type of start into the day here in Little India I would have to say that dosa probably one of my favorite Indian dishes or street food snacks I feel like it's more of a it's a breakfast dish I could eat that every time of the day no problem especially with the potatoes inside that was really good yeah that was good we opened the food Gates now it's time to continue eating Malaysian Indians make up more than 10% of quala lumpur's population so there's naturally a big cultural impact on food and the city you can feel the Indian influence just walking the streets but especially here in Little India which is filled with shops restaurants and [Music] decoration so this area actually feels uh a lot like a little India what it's kind of what it is um and this one also from a visual standpoint looks the most like a china town but with Indian flare you have all these buildings in a row with the sign posts on the side all these shops there and then a little bit of Indian flare with these Gates these archers lot of indan vendors out there selling suits and the typical stuff yeah it's definitely a very very Indian Vibe here in the middle of K lur which has a little bit of an Indian Vibe everywhere but on a way lower level so if you're visiting from India and you miss your home country maybe just come here feels kind of authentic to me and we just came from inia so yeah I'm Shadow dweller I cannot be in Sun for too long I got to make it to next spot next spot is here [Music] [Music] just stepped into something sticky on the ground it's all over her leg and finnally the same thing happened to me in [Music] India in your restaurants are not only found in Little India so we made our way back to the city's most visited District of bukit bintang for an often recommended Indian Budget [Music] Restaurant 280 for the trip that's about 60 so we made it back into the city this is Jalan laa um the most famous street food Street here in kumur but during the day they're just all setting up here all the delivery are happening they're building the stores because it's more of an evening thing but a little travel tip here uh this one obviously very touristy and busy in the evening and uh if you go one street over parallel though there's a couple of more chill restaurants they're a lot cheaper as well and that is what we're heading we're just heading turned off the Jalan allo here and you go down just one of these and one of the parallel streets that's very decent food for little money so this first little inen Street already has some shops it's one of the places to try durian here but if you continue couple of murals this is not really a street but just in in between section and then just one further over the next street here is what I'm talking about nice umbrella so this is the parallel Street already nice restaurant there massage place here and it's a little Karma but it's not fully uh off the beaten path um but there are some good budget options here so we sat down for lunch and uh we came to this small outdoor feels a little bit more like a budget place and one thing that is very common here in Malaysia between Malay food and Indian food there's definitely some overlapping you always can get this Nan or Roy plate with some s sauces Chutney on the side this is garlic Nan we get four pieces one round n there a nice layer of butter on there and a lot of garlic chunks as you can see and it always comes on these plates with different chutneys on the side then you can choose the side of meat and we chose the chicken this looks like it's tandori chicken I'm going to be honest it doesn't look like it's freshly made it looks like it might have been sitting out there a little bit so I think it's been sitting out for a little bit it's this typical super deep red tandori glazing they put on and it's what I like this uh nice what it say this is white meat it's white meat it looks a little dry though it it looks a little dry because it's van out and I think this is Boneless the flavor is still there but how I like to eat it it's just of course with your hands you grab a piece of this Garlic n you load it up and then dip it in one of the Chutney let's see this green one is usually a spicy one tastes a little different than the one we had for for breakfast this is not Indian Cuisine where we came to in contrast to the southern Indian Cuisine we had for breakfast could be a little hotter however this is only 14 and2 ring it so very affordable meal and you can very much customize it because it always comes you can choose your non bread which one you want there's cheese variations of that you get the sides and then you can choose the side of chicken meat or lamb meat on the side so customizable to your individual liking and overall pretty nice I got a watermelon Shake had to start with it this this is the jumbo size and uh it's refreshing it's very hot here and then I decided to go with a lamb Masala so this is the Lamb I think it's bone in so we have a little bit more of a some work to do to get it apart but it looks good and then we have a Roy chenai which is right here this beautiful fried Roe it's very flaky this is the type of stuff that I love there we go so I'm just going to try a piece I hope this is a boneless piece here yeah this in there there we go we've got the Roy chenai we've got some lamb Masala in there yeah let's go has a really nice flavor to it it's a little spicier than any of the dishes we had in India surprisingly yeah I guess Northern quisine is not as common with the spices but this is really good the Roy chai was highly recommended right yes yes I think there's some ginger in here you can taste it bit has this little freshness flavor to it it's a big bite this one definitely tastes fresher and looks fresher than what Phill ordered and it's nice and tender this lamb I'm a big fan of lamb curries so I like it I want to try that this is 34 ring it I believe so it's a little on the pricier side I guess lamb is not as common here as it is in India so that dish is basically 2 and a half times theprice of this one has not a lot of meat in there so I think these places maybe chicken is the way to go and I think I noticed that before because most people go for the chicken variations and chicken is so common it's just everywhere that um it's you're on the safest side if you order a chicken dish it's hard we've been to a few restaurants off camera and I think we had a little bit of better Indian food experience that's why our enthusiasm is a little lower right now all right so we just came out of that uh lunch restaurant and uh that food was average like I don't know how to say it it wasn't bad by any means but it wasn't also that great and I don't know we kind of want to still implement this because uh if you go around and try out all these new things you don't always get a mind-blowing food experience and it was still like chicken and nice gravy and Curry but the lamb dish definitely a little bit too expensive barely any meat in there but the flavoring very nice and then the chicken was very nice but a little older out there so not really that bad however um it was a an average food experience I would say you could also see the different curry dishes sitting out there on the way to the toilet there's just a stand with different curry dishes and they are ready just to be served right there but then in the back I think they're making at least the bread the non bread are very fresh it's just hard to compete in a city that has a lot of really good Indian food before we take you out for dinner where we got some of the best Indian curries ever we spent a good amount of days exploring koala lumur including malls skyscrapers parks and more and while we're here for the Indian food today next week we are sharing our Full kalalanu Experience showing you the city but also authentic Malayan Cuisine so consider Lauren Jared Roger Lupa Robin Parker dopi Ethan Mitchell Heather kuffner hessen matro Terk malkosh clous isart Lee Lim Robert J Casper Marian deer Sherry and Keith Dennis Jessica anac Jeff standon Debbie and Ray Gordon Micah man and James love Camp thank you all right we're here for dinner we had a bit of South Indian we had a bit of North India and now we have everything we're doing some of the Staples so I got a classic mango Lassie and it's this like mango flavored yogurt drink it's supposed to help with like the spicy food if you need to but it just tastes really good basically the Indian milkshake yeah with yogurt base and then here we have something very standard vindaloo so it's this gravy type Indian dish but we decided to get it with beef which we didn't see when we were in India because we were traveling mostly in the north but there is beef eaten in India I think that's a a stereotype that it's not eaten so you can see big chunks of beef in here you have some nice leaves for flavoring and this aromatic flavor and it's this beautiful red gravy color some nice red meat oh that stock yeah I don't think I've ever had beef vindaloo before I've had vindaloo before but not beef m m is it spicy mhm a little bit which is awesome some of the dishes we had in India we're not that spicy so this was under the C of Kerala Cuisine right in the south of India yeah and it has this nice tomato based flavor if you've ever had vindu before it's quite nice one of the most common types of curries we have in the west right it looks really nice especially the contrast between the dark red the white rice so de I went with the South Indian food from Kerala I'm going to go with North India and something that's really common around the world in westernized Indian restaurants as well is butter chicken I think butter chicken is probably the number one eaten Indian dish in the US yeah definitely in Germany and other Western countries is also very common however I really like it it looks amazing look at this you get this little Indian style Bowl here metal bowl and it's a little bit lighter than the vindaloo it's more of this orange and check this out chunks of chicken here smells so flavorful we also have this n little Pata baret and it's a little bit crispy on these outside like flaky is and then soft on the inside like we had it in Mumbai favorite usually is Nan garlic Nan but they didn't have that here paraa chapati so many different kinds of red Scoopa big piece of chicken here off this Curry oh look at that that looks awesome this is what it's supposed to look like I hope it's not bone in chicken but here we go butter chicken from North India butter chicken [Music] masala dude that's so good I don't know if this is a tourist thing or this is not good to say but this is one of my favorite Indian dishes we had on this trip it's so flavorful there's a slight hint of spice to it like spiciness and then the chicken is so tender here's the chicken it looks like the typical orange ooh that's some nice white meat I said before when I eat Indian food I'm not really missing the rice a lot because uh I prefer it actually with uh bread and just scooping it up like this but if you want more sauce you can still dip it in your pot good thing it's just the two of us I'm always hesitant to order it because everyone's like it's so basic every every one knows butter chicken Tika Masala but maybe they're popular for a reason dude I feel so basic right now but I absolutely love it this is so nice are you eating all of that yeah we're ordering more of that don't worry yeah ooh that's very creamy this is so creamy so thick with nice chicken chunks in it oh one bowl of this a day keeps any anxiety and unhappiness away I'm really happy with doing this this is one of the best Indian foods I had here little vindaloo butter chicken Fusion here oh my God to be honest I don't know why we ordered rice it's just it's all about It's All About The Bread I like rice I like rice too but the bread man this thing oo so Phil and I have been to a lot of Indian restaurants here off camera as well this one's very good like very awesome flavors I'm very satisfied it's a good way to end our Indian food here all right so we just came on of the last restaurant is called Dad Dad it's actually really nice um the Wu was very good but the butter chicken man that is the thing to get so uh that's on the Phil's recommended list I'm probably the Diana and Phil's recommended list I'm so full yeah it's very nice with a Pera per I can't say it I still I'm I'm struggling with a lot of the words but but damn it tastes good that's the main thing that's the most important thing woo so that was our Indian food tour here in qual and poort Malaysia I am amazed you can get aw some Indian food around the world but here specifically I've had some of my favorite Indian dishes in Malaysia panang Malaysia so good yeah and I think for me the same that also
