Triple TRIUMPH (Card Magic) ~ An In Depth Tutorial

[Music] [Music] go ahead and select a card let's say this one i'll help out a little for the purpose of this demonstration i promise i won't look remember this card we'll place it back in the deck so you can see i can see we'll mix it in somewhere and bury it now i'm going to make three equal piles as close to equal as i can get we'll mix these two together and i'll take this pile and turn it face up if you see your card don't say anything and we'll mix them face up face down into this pile never shuffle cards face up especially face up face down we'll make an exception for now we'll take this group and we'll mix it into here now in a short sequence of simple secondary shuffles i'm going to arrange all the cards so they're facing the same direction again except for one card which will be facing the opposite direction and that card will be your spectator's selected card okay here we go one two and that should pretty much do it i hope you enjoyed that this routine is based on the classic card trick called triumph there are many versions with many different methods of achieving the same effect this version is one i put together and i'm going to show you how to do it but first just remember if you don't want to know the secrets then watch no further because once you do know you can't i know we'll give a couple seconds for those who don't want to know okay this routine uses a normal deck of 52 cards no gimmick cards and you're clean at the end the secret is in the handling including a simple card control and block control and there's a secret setup in the beginning it only takes a few seconds to do so here's the setup pick off about one third of the bottom cards from a shuffled deck and reverse them so they're facing up actually a little less than a third it works best with about 15 16 cards prior to doing that condition the deck by bending it just a little like so backs towards you and bend in if your cards are used and randomly all bent up already then bend do a do a cut about halfway and bend again this will ensure that all your cards have an unnoticeable slight bend in the same direction you'll understand why as we go through the routine so this is the secret setup and you're ready to go fan the cards for selection holding back your secret block here's a tip spectators sometimes like to choose from a clump of cards so give them a little clump of cards right there they'll dig into that so they don't dig in here manipulating someone into selecting a card from only two-thirds of a deck is not that difficult if you're focused so a card is selected we're going to use the ace of spades so we can keep track of the selected card as soon as they select the card you're going to do a false tap cut this is a false tap cut dig in about halfway and swing the top half over bring it out turn it sideways tap on this drop bring this over and drop on top nothing has happened it looks like you cut the deck but you didn't now speed is involved here you want to go fast here tap and then go slow drop and drop this gives the illusion that the cards are being cut and helps hide your block so someone selects a card you immediately do a false tap cut pick up the cards and as you're squaring them up you can see when you hold them here that break is going to open up this is where your block is they're facing the other way so as you're squaring up you're going to get a pinky break and that spot right there retrieve the selected card from your spectator promising not to look and place the card above the break you don't want to place it below there because if you tilt this way it's going to look good that's going to kind of look funny so i'm going to go in on top i usually push a little a couple cards out kind of like a marlo tilt push a few cards out looks like you're trying to squeeze it in and slide it right there as soon as it slides in put your hand over to slide it in and you're going to push the cards together get rid of the break slide that card in so now you can bring it like this and show the card don't flash the bottom next square the cards like this you're going to come over here and you're going to slide that card in and as you do you're going to push down slightly and as you push it in you're going to catch another break right there so now you have your block of cards and the selected card reversed on top and now you have the break there begin cutting chunks of cards from the top part and laying them down on the table the more packs you can do and the more blue backs they see the more convincing it is that you don't have a block of reverse cards when you get to this last one this is your selected card and your block drop the whole block on top do not let it spread apart hold them really tight drop them square the cards up next we're going to make three piles your first pile is your block with the selected card facing down on top of it you can see we have a natural break there where they're separated back to back and they're bent opposite directions so you can squeeze it together show people whatever as soon as you let off the pressure relax the cards that first pile comes right off that's your selected card and that's your block of reversed cards keep them square do not flash them these are regular cards just split them in half second pile third pile so you have three piles these two are normal and this one is your secret block with the selected card reversed on top riffle these two piles together does absolutely nothing to the cards but it does a lot to the mind of your spectator they're seeing all these blue backs split this in half put a half over here turn this one over and slide it and this is when you mention if you see your card don't say anything you know they're not going to see their card because you know it's right there square these up pull these over do not flash these hold them nice and tight you're going to do a closed riffle shuffle you're going to angle it in such a way that nobody can see the cards going down make sure you leave that blue back card on top when you finish and riffle really fast once you get to this point make sure you don't separate these cards take your time hold them nice and tight and slide them together so everybody can see these things are being mixed and push them together as you're explaining that no one should ever shuffle cards face up especially face up face down show them this way turn over the last pile showing them do a closed riffle shuffle pushing them together slowly follow the powder from the performance do one cut at about halfway turn it over and do the final reveal you can show the other side of the cards you're clean at the end where you can then hand out the cards for a full
