[Music] Green yeah so in Iran right now in the capital city Tara and we got in last night at around 10:30 yeah 10:10 p.m. slept for maybe four hours but since I it's like I can't think right now I don't feel tired but I feel like it's definitely kind of like the lack of sleep is working in my brain it's sorry it's twelve hours difference from Vancouver so it's like a complete 180 yeah it's kind of a little messed up my head I've never been to Iran before and I didn't wanted to for a long time but there are many reasons why I didn't come but I'm really really happy to be here a lot of family is going to come today and we're gonna just what they call it Matt Mooney which I think it's just kind of like you go to one person's home and you just like you're celebrating like eat together and just like party so it's really it's very exciting I haven't seen a lot of my relatives some of them I've met before but most of them I have not I'm gonna go some breakfast now breakfast every morning was wonderfully simple we'd have this fresh bread called sangat as you can see here and what they do is they bake it over these hot stones and it's your responsibility once they take it out of the oven they place it on a rack for you to take the stones off otherwise you might crack - and along with the same guide you would also have it with feta cheese butter fresh vegetables like radishes mint green onion and they kept out a lot of dates and of course black tea food here it was very deep rooted in the culture and the celebration of getting together over meals with rice being the staple oh man the food was so good and of course the best food that you would have would be cooked at someone's home not in a restaurant although a restaurant food was great as well [Music] food was really fresh and something pretty common was seeing people carry their giant pieces of bread home from the bakery every day something I really love about every person's home was the centerpiece usually in your living room for when people would come over and it would be filled with cucumbers fresh fruit like oranges apples some types of bananas you always want to have some kind of offering for the guests which I always really appreciate it and it was always very healthy [Music] [Applause] the note said no I didn't expect to see so many stray cats but they are everywhere something that really struck me while I was there was the realization of how important art was there were murals on almost every other building along the highways and everywhere you would look you'd see some sort of little colorful art piece whether it was flags murals flowers people setting up and maintaining flowers on the roads or just the colorful stalls and stores you would see everywhere [Music] [Applause] [Music] alakay this is funny school day [Music] [Music] my cousin's took me to this lookout point called vomit Tehran which literally means the roof of Tehran and he had a zip line they had amusement park rides you've got a mini roller coaster we ain't go on it but we did see spectacular 180-degree view of terror [Music] in all my uneducated glory I didn't know that Iran was so beautiful Tehran is completely surrounded by mountains and Iran is actually home to the highest volcano in Asia called the demo van and my dad actually climbed it when he was younger which is pretty cool on one day we traveled to a village in the north of Tehran and it was so beautiful and peaceful it was really nice to get away from the busyness of the central part of Tehran we were by a river you're barbecuing then we went hiking afterwards [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] I finally got to meet my grandfather who had passed away before I was born we visited his grave as well as my beloved grandmother's and my uncle's as well we bought flowers for them from a girl who my cousin always bought flowers from every time he visited on our last week we traveled - esfahan which is about a five hour drive south from Tehran we stopped over to eat at this small kind of place and they had honeycomb which I've never actually seen being served before [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] during the cab ride the driver was playing some music we asked him who the artist was and he confessed that it was him we visited a Cathedral in Esfahan which for some reason I did not really expect to goose the intron it goes to show my ignorance but also that a lot of this isn't really shown in the media [Music] [Music] sheikh lotfollah mosque i'm totally butchering the name but when I walked into this part of the mosque it's as if time Stood Still I stared at the ceiling for what seemed like an eternity with tears pouring down my face there's something about being in the presence of such vastness and greatness that seems to overtake you and your emotions completely it was absolutely magnificent [Music] on our way back from esfahan we saw some camels which I have never seen besides in zoos it was so cool seeing them in the wild on a particularly rainy day we traveled to a smaller town called me goon in the mountains [Music] now the scenes of a better thankfully the Sun came out just as we were beginning to eat [Music] but the absolute best part about the trip was seeing all my family and celebrating being each other's company it was so much fun [Music] [Music] [Applause] and although there was definitely a language barrier because I don't really speak Farsi I laughed so much my family is absolutely crazy I love them even my little cousin was in on the action dancing like an absolutely a star so cute she's only five years old a lot of joking and making fun of each other [Laughter] [Laughter] [Applause] we played a lot of games one of them being yeah to guess who the other person was I'll blind folded I think they got him but my favorite out of everything was seeing my total nutcase of it - he's surrounded by all the people he grew up with and I completely understand where I got my crazy from saying goodbye dear on until my family was a lot harder than I ever expected I didn't think that I would miss being there as much as I do now but I know I'll be back [Music]
