[Music] [Music] it's another beautiful morning in a country which many people think of quite differently than it deserves it's astonishing how wild nature can make for such an unforgettable spectacle every day leaving one speechless in amazement daily friendly and hospitable people will surely crack a smile on anyone's face these are my thoughts this morning as I sat on my motorbike my only faithful companion on this journey and head out into the unknown [Music] it's halfway through April and spring is slowly coming to Bohemia I shall meet it sooner as I ride south and cross the Czech Slovak border for that sole purpose the goal is to ride around the Caspian Sea and explore the countries of Middle East Iran Turkmenistan Kazakhstan right through Russia Georgia and Turkey to get back into Europe but at the moment don't know what fate has in store for me expected warmth doesn't come as I ride south the first 2,000 kilometers is typical Europe cold and rainy I'm looking forward to reaching the Turkish border where it will hopefully warm up 200 kilometers beyond the border I look out to the Gateway to Asia Istanbul this town is huge and the outskirts began roughly 70 kilometers from the center it will take me about three hours just to get through the old town where I can finally spend my first night in a comfortable bed I will stay here for a few days so that I can explore the city and take in such an unforgettable atmosphere [Music] it's time to move on leaving the comforts of the big city and continuing with the life of a moto Nomad I am crossing a Bosphorus Strait which separates Asia from Europe and continuing on to the Turkish hinterland the destination is Gorham National Park located on a plateau in central Anatolia a large part of Turkey is made of mountains and I'm spending most of the time at altitudes above 1,000 meters where I struggle with the wind and the clouds of dust while riding through the valley all of a sudden the ancient underground town appears in front of me dwelling carved into the rocks which have a story from the ancient past this is one of turkey's most famous tourist attractions and it's apparent with buses full of tourists everywhere I'm leaving soon and heading for the park to explore its beauty [Music] [Applause] thanks to my motorbike I can get to places where most tourists can't while riding I keep wondering how nature is able to create such beautiful views each more stunning than the last rock chimneys carved into the landscape after several decades of erosion that seemed to be from another planet I ride among them enjoying the peace and splendor before I leave for the east [Music] [Music] Turkey is a vast and beautiful country it takes me a few days to get east with the views of the countryside slowing me down more than I'd expected the landscape is changing ever so often the country of a thousand colors as I began to call it must be a paradise for geologists the hills look like a chopped layer-cake changing from green to red to near white the beauty of its nature spoils the ubiquitous garbage and I just hope that the Turks will soon realize what they have and start to appreciate the scaring for it more I will often find myself in an interesting place where I'm able to sit and just relax for a few hours this happened to me at the girl lovak Falls which I almost had entirely to myself occasionally in such places one can experience a nice and sometimes humorous encounter with the locals it's clear that they don't see European visitors often evenings in the mountains are still cold but I enjoyed the moments of loneliness at sunset and with a cup of hot coffee in my hand as I have the opportunity to ponder the events of the day the silence and peace of the mountains are a real cure for the soul to just sit for a while to enjoy the comfort of these million year old Giants the next day worth of riding is awaiting and I'm starting to approach an important point the legendary Mount Aurora the weather is getting better and the Sun is warming my cold faced body I spend one night in the mountain town of Erzurum where I had to pick up my Iranian visa I could then journey to the foothills of the mountain where I would be camping to complete my expedition goal after a while I found a great place with the stunning view of the mountain set up my tent and watched the snowy peak disappear into the dark of night [Music] today a new day and a new country are expected from Aurora to the Iranian border it's not far and I am approaching with mixed feelings of enthusiasm and nervousness I don't have the slightest idea what awaits me at customs after two hours of struggling with papers and moneychangers and finally released last stamp received and I'm free to go finally I can begin to discover this mysterious country that has fascinated me since the first day I met its nature culture and its unique locals their friendliness curiosity and willingness to help me in every situation make them one of the kindest nations I've ever met [Music] with my appearance of a typical European and with a big engine motorbike this is very rare here because of the import ban I become a great attraction wherever I stop I am surrounded by curious people I'm trying to get used to it I'm heading for the next landmark along the way the Caspian Sea it's Friday which means Sunday and they run and many people go out make a picnic and enjoy the afternoon with their family descending from the mountains to the sea is a little bit difficult due to tense traffic and dozens of trucks to overcome the surrounding landscape is changing rapidly and bare hills changed to deciduous forests everything is suddenly thriving when I finally get to the coast it's like another country wherever you look all you can see are buildings and rice fields the mountains rise a few hundred meters from the coast so every piece of land here is eased [Music] we're gonna spend the night on the beach the next day I will continue to ride the coast until I turn to get over the mountains and in the capital [Music] fortunately I got bad news interim my request for a Turkmen visa is denied there's nothing else I can do but make up a plan B which didn't take long the next day I was getting out of that busy city and heading south my new goal is to swim in the Gulf I'm partly glad that I didn't get the visa and I have more time to explore Iran I gave myself three weeks to travel to cash M Island and back the island was recommended by the countrymen I met at the hostel they said it is definitely worth it [Music] it's harshin and hospitable but it attracts me anyway traveling in the middle of nowhere far from civilization and relying only on oneself is always a powerful experience it's a great way to clean your head and settle your thoughts [Music] it seems to me that there is a certain trend here the more the surrounding nature is wild enough the more it is beautiful finding such places is not a problem just pull off the main road [Music] there are large distances between cities separated by desert where only the strongest and local Shepherds can survive however they are very friendly and curious he never missed the opportunity to take a look at a stranger [Music] the life is modest yep they seem to be happy all they need is a roof over their heads and something to eat we are the same at this moment I try to keep away from the main routes even though it is quite difficult there are not many options here usually only a single road connects to cities even so you can plan and pick an interesting tour where there is a lot to see I choose my route mostly in the evenings and I try to choose so that I can enjoy some offroad however it is always necessary to ride with extra caution in this environment the slightest navigational error or a fall that causes injury could put me in serious trouble in a desert there is also a need for sufficient supplies of water and fuel if you run out of gasoline there's always the possibility to refuel from the tank trucks on the roads when you are short of water you can refill a bottle from the hose that leads from the mountains on such trips I often find abandoned places without a single tourist the experience of a visit is much more pleasant when I don't have to walk through the overcrowded place and I have everything for myself [Music] the adventurous travel style as it may seem is not just about breathtaking sunset evenings even nature can show her dark face and in the form of a sandstorm to test the strength of the tent and mine [Music] after such a night just clean the bike from the dustin ride to a river to wash [Music] big cities are a great refuge after a few days of wandering and camping in the wilderness a warm shower and a good meal are a nice change and I have an opportunity to learn about the life and Iran and in Western countries so Damned Islam Iran has a rich history and related architecture remarkable buildings are in every corner and it is definitely worth seeing the beauty of decorated mosques I was lucky and found myself at one of the most famous when the king of the light ceremony took place [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] what I like here is the lack of big shopping centers at least I didn't see any all deals are made in bazaars or on streets which are sorted by services and goods they offer you will find everything pick set for lubrication strays which I searched in vain for three hours but thanks to that I have the chance to meet and talk to a lot of extraordinary people there is a good understanding of English in the cities I could listen to the locals and learn about their way of life perhaps the best way to discover the city is to wander through the streets and get navigated by the residents I guarantee you to find stunning places that way [Music] [Music] [Applause] what I got to like a lot is traditional bread that is pulled straight out of the furnace I can eat it in the park while listening to the singing of local entertainers [Music] [Applause] before I go on the next trip I need to visit Persepolis to soak up the atmospheres of the times when the mighty Xerxes be [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Keshan is the largest Iranian army and is separated from the mainland by a two kilometer wide straight the island is connected to the mainland by regular ferries [Music] it belongs to the free trade zone therefore I have to wait for customs clearance and then I am free to go discover the beauties of this amazing [Music] ah [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] ah [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] the goal of swimming in the Gulf is fulfilled and my journey back has begun after three unforgettable weeks I'm leaving Iran through Armenia Georgia and Turkey on my return to Europe I've been to Armenia just for a few days but it was enough to impress me especially the mountains they are remarkably beautiful I'm trying to keep off of the main road as much as I can the strategies rewards are fantastic views of the country and occasionally some waterfalls [Music] I am enjoying wild camping and some offroad without being afraid that somebody is going to throw a pitchfork at me the people are just fine here and they like to make a break and talk to the fool who came here from Czechoslovakia I just need to work on my Russian [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] when I finally get to the Georgia I've heard a lot about the cold and rainy weather changes my plans takes me away I promised myself that I will come back to Georgia one day and set off westward to the Turkish coast bad weather keeps chasing me for three more days before settling down and letting me enjoy some of the beauties of the Black Sea coast [Music] [Music] the last night last cup of tea on the asian continent before i go on to the final part of the trip [Music] [Music] after camping the Bulgarian national park via Bucharest I get the transfagarasan the most famous road in Romania and according to Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear best of the world it's the target of most bikers visiting this country and I cannot miss it either [Music] [Music] is even though it's the end of May there's still a lot of snow on the top of the road the only option is to turn around and go back I'm going to Trent's often another favorite Road amongst bikers [Music] [Music] I spent seven weeks wrote 15,000 kilometers and had a million unforgettable experiences as I ride through our country and look around I realized how beautiful the places we have really are [Music] the journey that led through nine countries gave me a lot of valuable experience I met many interesting people saw multitude of beautiful places not once I felt like I was in danger or unwelcome the bike has managed everything without a single problem and is certainly looking forward to the next expedition and where am I going you'll see [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music]
