Trapped in the UK with Dead Memory Card

[Music] due to a rather unfortunate event I was forced to extend my stay in the UK when I was taken in by Sir Thomas Heaton and his lovely wife Charlotte but after eating them out of house and home in just one evening well Tom suggested that we head out for a night of van camping in the beautiful lake district and as I had not been there since I was a teenager I was rather keen to explore and make the best of a bad situation it was as spectacular as I remember it with those ancient mountains quaint dry stone walls windy roads and all the worldly pubs with outrageously priced Guinness and though the wildlife wasn't quite as dangerous as what I'm used to back home you've got to be wary of these feisty buggers after a long day of driving and hiking around trying to find locations for tomorrow's sunrise we were both feeling pretty exhausted and to be quite honest with you I was so focused on pulling ticks off my exquisitely slender legs I just didn't feel like shooting the sunset take some black which back this is probably ready to eat no I don't regret all right so I'm here in the Lake District having a redneck shower I'm supposed to be in Canada burn out a bit the disaster at the airport it turns out that my PR car my permanent residence card was at home anyway so long story short I've had to wait for my PR CAD to be sent to me here in the UK and tom was very kind enough to invite me to Beaton towers and what would you call this this is a tour de heatin tour de heater for the night so I'm spending the night in here and Tommy is also cooking a lovely spaghetti bolognese so we went out shooting earlier where did we go oh we sort of went to watch clothes in the Lake District right and I I'm not kidding I'm not exaggerating I pulled over 20 ticks of my delicate feminine legs and I'm just really paranoid about it now so I'm scrubbing yourself dry trying to make sure that I don't have any more of these bastard parasites stuck on my legs because tomorrow I fly home and what we're gonna do is spend the night here in tour des Heaton and shoot the sunrise at place called was it bleeped on the bleeped and hopefully get some epic light and then I'm straight off to Manchester Airport for my second round at getting on my crappy Air Transat flight and I really really hope I get four because I missed me cats haven't forgotten me now tell me I have to ask you to do me a personal favor no obviously else yeah I mean I've checked as high up as I can but I really need you to check my testicular region and anal cavity could you do that for ticks no you draw the line I have a mirror you can just I would but I'm too fat I can't actually see off me Bella I'll do it yeah bend over all right then I mean I'll return the favor the brought tweezers no well thanks for dinner oh you're welcome boil in the back yes back Bowl but it wasn't really boil in the baggie he made it fresh but ten hours ago yeah put it into a nice plastic bag to boil good so what's the plan for the morning whatever get them oh that's a good question let me check have an app for that guys little widget the photo pills widget tells you everything you need to know and a widget so Oh God well sunrise 4:40 that don't we get an offer in five hours or off probably 4:15 do we really need to be up for actual sunrise cuz like we're in a ball so it's got to get off of it but you don't want to miss it yeah you know gotta gotta get off shoot a bit of b-roll walk down to the time Oh mushrooms well sorry VIN oh you know what motion try to get rid of them for you know you can Isuzu get up at 4:00 4:15 yeah like the 15 mix all the best way evening is for 47 though 10 minutes down herself shoot some beer off lights gonna start hitting you know like could start hitting at 450 for 45 those long tails are quite high I know it hits those that's what you want they're getting up at 4:15 in less than five hours and then I have to fly from Manchester to Vancouver Oh God be my business class I'm a starving artist I gotta for business class as good as there you go economy is very a nightmare well the economy is costing with the same as business class because it was a last minute white you know due to my foot I flew economy to Calgary and I was expensive it was last-minute some of the most angry comments I get my youtube channel when I eat what yeah people don't like eating on YouTube what is it because you're because you're eating or about what you what you know it's because I'm talking to the camera and eating can the same time I personally I'm offended that you're doing that right now I think you should have a bit more respect for your audience got your audience a bit low respect for my audience I can care less stuff and stuff in your face while you talking buddy rude it was finally time to bed down and get some rest Tom good night mate good night I'm good we'll all have a good one but there was one important matter that I needed to discuss with Tom Tom yeah I've got a question for you God but you know our s4 group right yeah well which one of us which one of us is your favorite you're joking aren't you it's Nick all right me goodnight and that gave me a truly brilliant idea Tom what is it one more question yeah do you think you and I could get matching tattoos good night Gavin good night I'll take that as a yes after 18 minutes of the worst sleep ever we still managed to somehow be late for sunrise and the clouds were lighting up I really needed to get a good shot they found my miserable journey home it's 20 I've been here before yeah where's the why do I need to be well it's it's quite clearly obvious when you get here where the best place to be is and that's obviously where the other photographer is no one and on the hill the photographer well we've just completed the epic 200 meter hike from the carpark it was a Jewess it was exhausting but we've made it intact I've got about two hours of sleep and I do have a face like an overripe mango but I'm here anyway so before I get to Manchester Airport I want to see you can't get this shot now we do see a little bit of mist rising off the water off smoke on the water as they would say and that is a good sign we missed this bit of pink that was popping in the sky just as we arrived but I'm hoping that as the Sun rises up there'll be this gorgeous hot blow on the mountain there that found my composition I'm all set up I'm ready to go but I just want to go back to bed and sleep anyway we'll play the waiting game [Music] okay so the the peaks have just started to catch a little bit of that morning glow that I love but with that almost the exact same time has come a little bit of wind which is now messed up my gorgeous reflection so I really hope that what that wind buggers off and we can keep that beautiful mirror like reflection but look at the kind of glow that we've got going on here behind me so I want that over here on this guy and you can see it is just starting to to lick the top of that peak ever so lightly but then there's some clouds just popped up behind me which is kind of obscuring that light so let's hope all of the things I need to line up line up because I've come a long bloody way for this shot and I really really want it and just as the light was becoming absolutely sublime I took my very first shot and this happened writing to the memory card was not completed correctly recover data so what is a photo to do if I hit enter will it solve the problem I will it just wipe all of my images and all of my video this wasn't the first time that I'd experienced this problem and I seem to recall that the last time it happened I did hit enter to recover the data and everything was fine so while I went ahead and hit enter and then I got this message unable to read memory card reinsert memory correct this was the same memory card that had all of that video footage that Tom and I had shot the night before you know that that was comedy gold but then I got this message do you need to change you don't depends well yes actually I do need to change my under crackers so then I got this message do you wish to Hulk smash this camera quit photography in Thailand I was giving it some serious consideration but I realized that the best course of action in this situation was to do absolutely nothing my best chance of recovering all of that hard work and those magic moments was to just leave it alone wait till I got back home and check everything by putting the memory card in the computer to see if I could access the files from there well I tried back then it worked [Music] I honestly believed when I flew home that this video and this image would never see the light of day and I'm so happy it all worked out and I got to share this story with you guys so a big thanks goes out to Thomas Heaton for putting me up and for reintroducing me to the beautiful Lake District I'll definitely be going back there but that my friends is another story if you
