Toyota says that it offers a staggering number of electrified op options in the United States in fact it says it has 29 electrified models and its sales of these electrified models they say are uh skyrocketing now let's have a look at the facts here guys how many of these 29 electrified models are actually EVS well surprisingly almost none of them only one but at least that one is selling well incredibly well considering the reviews this does show you guys that Toyota vehicles don't really sell on the product they sell on the name of the badge on the vehicle now in the past you'd say that about Mercedes-Benz or BMW but I think now you said about Toyota more than any other brand in the world hello my friends welcome to the channel I'm Sam Evans you're watching the electric Viking here at Toyota sales in the United States Toyota sold a total of 621 vehicles in the US um so for in the second quarter of this year the Japanese manufacturer offers it says 29 electrified models including hybrids plug-in hybrids some of those of course are mild hybrids which are not even hybrids at all um EVs and a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle so it says it now sells two more different electrified models than it did last year in Q2 Toyota sold 247,000 so-called electrified Vehicles which is growth of 63% representing nearly 40% of Toyota's volume but um if you actually look at it more closely you'll see these numbers they're in my opinion they're a bit misleading technically in the second quarter of 2024 Toyota sold 24,2 166 plug-in electric cars that's 112% more than a year ago so it's nice growth 112% but it still does mean that only 3.9% % of Toyota's sales in the US were electric that said it is better than the 2% that was their return while their numbers of EVS from a year ago 2% so it's grown to 3.9% the toy brand saw 17,600 plug-in sales which is growth of 91% year-over-year Lexus was 6,677 so those those Vehicles those 24,000 weren't all or actually all Toyotas they were Toyota and Lexus 7 600 Toyotas 6,700 Lexus Vehicles Lexus EV sales as a result have risen by 194% and Toyotas EV sales by 91% now that's what the media would have you believe and if you're still watching this video I commend you you probably that you didn't call and stop watching because yeah that was kind of now the truth is Toyota's EV sales were't nowhere near that number in fact to's EV sales while they Rose 28 86% they actually only make up 1.4% of Toyota's vehicle sales in America 1.4% because Toyota actually only sold 7,571 the other 10,000 were actually plug in hybrids Lexus plugin hybrids uh they sold 2,641 but they sold 4,000 ful electric cars which is growth of their actual EVS of 300 and 33% plugin hybrids for Lexus well no one wants them they only grew by 97% and so basically Lexus is selling more EVS than plugin hybrids isn't that interesting if you buy a luxury car uh you've got more money you're willing to pay more and you just go no no no I want F fully electric well in most cases anyway for Alexus that was the case so that means in total between Toto and Alexus they sold 11,672 quarter in America that means uh 1.9% of toy Alexus sales combined were fully electric for the last 3 months 1.9% if that isn't a perfect situation for disruption coming from other automakers who in my opinion make much better product now if guys if Toyota really thought it sold if if Toyota was really committed to the idea that it's EVS are the best that it's plug-in hybrids are the best that it's hybrids are the best in the world which is what it says if they really thought that was true one why are they using B batteries when they criticized them and said that their own batteries were better that's what they said but they're using them right in all of their EVS um why does B basically make you know a lot of the parts in Toyota's EVs and in China basically make the EVS um yeah I know people say it's not B but the truth is B makes the skateboard guys do do a bit of research on this you'll see the skateboard is B I get emails people saying no no no it's it's faw or whoever guys it's not it's actually think about it what is the car right what is the car the car is escap board right that's the car pretty much the rest of it a shell right so yeah it's BD but even worse than that if Toto was so committed to this idea that it hybrids are so great why the hell is it now deciding it's going to use B's hybrid technology it is why would it just invent a better version of its own hybrid technology if B's technology was better why would it use that anyhow putting that question out to you if you just bought a toy to plug in hybrid why did you do that that's my curious I'm I'm curious to know were you aware when you bought that that b make better plugin hybrids and that they you'll be able to buy one soon now I'm not saying you should buy one I don't think you should but I'm just saying I'm curious guys having a look at uh to's hydrogen Vehicles T sold 73 in the last 3 months across all of America where 16 million cars are sold every year they sold 73 so you know what's that about 20 24 per month 24 per month yeah hydrogen's car sales for Toyota are down 93% so you know last year Toyota sold about 40 a month wow like I said guys hydrogen is finished in America I know a lot of people don't believe me a lot people have called me out on this but it is it's just it's time to recognize reality anyhow this does mean that even though we're looking at a very small number Toyota's EV sales as a group toyoto Alexus EV sales together did increase in the second quarter of this year by 31% to 11,675 billion everyone thinks oh amazing you you've got $100 billion that's awesome but what about if you didn't tell everyone that actually yeah you've got 100 billion but you ow the bank 200 billion now everyone would be like oh who cares he's got 100 billion he owes the bank 200 billion what's the big deal what about if to have that $200 billion loan you had to keep making repayments and the product that you sold no longer was profitable and at the same time sales of that product went down now if at the same time you recognize the fact that your product was and the market did not that of the art in fact fact a long way behind some of your competition in terms of its technology so you decided you had to buy the product let's say you decided you were apple and you had to buy a Samsung phone and rebadge it as an apple but in order to make a profit because you were buying basically from a middleman you had to sell your your rebadged Apple at a significantly higher price than that Samsung now what about if the market found out that all you were doing was rebadging a Samsung would they continue to think that you were a brand they should buy on brand and would you continue to be able to pay back all that debt now whilst things might be looking great that is the picture for Toyota here in fact Toyota has more debt than any other car company in the world and here's the thing a lot of people say well dat of Toyota and Volkswagen's pretty similar and it is it's very similar in fact about 200 billion but the bad news guys if you're a Toyota lover if you're a total Toyota lover under there's so many of them I know you guys are you hate me you want to find me and kill me but if you love Toyota you have to recognize reality and it's this vog wagon's debt a lot of that debt is actually good debt it's debt where they lend money right so they're lending money to others and basically as long as those people pay them back that debts good yeah so Volkswagen's debt about 30% of it to 30 to 40% is actually loans but Toyota's debt that they loan out it's less than5 % so that means 95% of toa's debt is bad debt now Toyota just announced that they are building now they're hoping to build a new car factory in Shanghai they're hoping that they'll get special Tesla treatment in Shanghai where they're going to build a new Robo taxi um in addition to that they're also saying that their new EBS will have solid state batteries but they don't want to tell us how they work none of the chemistry we can't know any of that we can't know of the product details where they're making them where's the production lines none of those details have been exposed but they're building a robot taxi in China they're going to build a factory there one day with special treatment from the Chinese government and that's how they're going to basically turn things around thanks for watching
