the survivors go into their second third of this three-week race the tour de france today we're heading down towards provence and tomorrow we just climb the giant upper vans we're now presenting live coverage from rocket mortgage off stage 10 of the tour de france i'm phil liggett i'm with bob roll good morning bob morning phil the geico stage map looks like this south by southwest thunder showers at the finish have been predicted but watch out for crosswinds the trommontano winds do blow in this part of france often times and they are forecast for a little bit later in the day if they do materialize this rather featureless course only one category four climb could turn into absolute bananas for the peloton festival for the fast man however on paper is what we're expecting watch for the sprinters to come back to the floor after three days of brutal stages in the mountains every day a different challenge to the stage men of the tour de france the weather though is looking okay we're expecting some prolonged rain but the temperatures are going up 78 degrees fahrenheit scattered showers at the finish let's check in and make sure adam blythe has also taken the start phil i have taken a start this morning and at the moment it is very warm indeed it's about 26 degrees c which i think in around fahrenheit is 75 ish um but today i spoke to mark cavendish and one thing on my mind was what are they going to do today as a team are they going to ride they're going to go in the breakaway and he told me they're going to ride they're going to go full gas today everything they can for mark cavendish in the stage win and i asked him is the climber worry he said i can only do what i can gonna let i can do so he's going to go full glass on the climb the team are going to stick around him and try and bring it back let's go to radio tour [Music] [Music] at 1 19 119 stage 10 of the tour de france between albertville and valance 190.7 kilometers of racing today and 164 riders at the start one non-starter number 213 213 so the race is underway one minute earlier than prophet sites were already ahead of schedule let's catch up with the situation here with the statisticians 1 22 miles still to ride 184 riders started there are now in fact 164 riders still in the race because they just announced there that jonas koch has not started 29 clear climbs are still to go in this race we've done 30. hey at over half anyway there's action at the front which you may not see yet adam but we've had a little move here at the front to try and close this gap down clearly bob as they in goner over six minutes they said enough is enough there's colbrelli cobrelli being matched by morkov shaking his head no way where do you think you're going stephen just in front of him i think that's sword croc anderson in the black jersey with the blue highlights peloton a bit of a scramble now a big attack here and that's silvandelier from the alpacine squad the champion of switzerland in the red jersey right on the front of a little move here could be dangerous but it looks like uae is doing some work behind also so there is a plant effort here to give cavernage a hard ride up to the spring point that's the situation in the green jerseys overall 168 points for cavendish michael matthews at 130 and so it's 20 points for the rider that finishes at la placet 20 points for the winner we've got two riders in the lead at the moment of course and it goes down to the top 15 places and whatever the reason was there's the sprint points for you and there's the green jersey in the backdrop and it's his teammates it went after that move by colbrelli and i think has neutralized the attack and so it's all the way down to 15th place one point for the 15th rider over the line so status quo bob he's still got two riders up front and bob must my amazement tosh vanderson the pro for over nine years and this is his first tour de france josh feinersander the belgian rider on the lotto sudah squad in the breakaway with hugo hool all of that drama will not ruffle their feathers too much got an almost six minute lead cobrelli trying to sneak up the road pretty cheeky move michael morkov however he sussed that out almost instantly and was right on the wheel so neutralize that psm on the front they're starting to tap out the rhythm so it'd be a long day in the saddle for the teammates of case bowl their sprinter as they try to keep a handle on the breakaway dakunik in all honesty phil they don't you know cavendish has two stage wins ala philippe has a stage win they've had the yellow jersey they've had the green jersey for a number of days so it's been a very successful tour de france for the kunic pressure is off and it might be the obligation of some other teams to come forward and do the tempo for the duration of today's stage anyways that want to have a chance to win a stage which dsm hasn't had yet now sitting there we see tim de clerk riding in second place at the moment as always he is always at or near the front at this time in the race maybe we can find out why let's go to steve perrino well tim mcclurk it's a little bit like linemen phil in football they never get into the glory but without the work they do the running backs of the mark cavendish is the world don't always get to the finish line first in fact he was telling a story about two days ago trying to usher cav to the finish line as we now know just inside of the time cut and he said for five hours straight he was trying to arrive exactly perfectly at the threshold of mark cavenish he said it was his pleasure to do so but as we look forward to mark cavendish and whether he could actually eclipse the record set by eddie merks with 34 victories in the tour de france you have to wonder if it might all come down in some ways to what we never did see and that was watching tim the clerk usher mark cavendish across the finish line the way he did two days ago yeah the amazing thing about tim the clerk is he's never won a professional bicycle race bob but how many has he made for the people he works for innumerable a big asset to the dakunik squad he likes to compare his watts that he's produced throughout the day with the other members of the team and he always even if they've won the stages producing quite a bit more power than anybody else on the team a formidable outfit as they always are asgreen valerini the clerk himself there on the front the sprinter mark cavendish 13 tour starts for kav and michael moore called the course and dries david and steve david is a very good climber an asset to allah philippe in the mountains everybody else however dedicated to the man in green you can see him just down that line his helmet popping in green highlights on the bike green jersey green gloves green socks green helmet and uh michael morkov may be the best lead out man in the business but all of that work would be for naught if not for the man on the front tim the clerk in many stages in the tour de france doing this work and he's had his work cut out for him throughout the day throughout the tour and he's back at it again today phil well this hill it's the only major climb of the day and there's one point for the first rider over the line the peloton are not going to catch the two leaders hule and van der sand and they may not even sprint it out they may allow hugo hula here on the front at the moment to get that one point and so uh they're over the top officially now of what they call a coal which is a mountain french of course called acousa colombian flag flies for nairo quintana who still is the leader of the king of the mountains when he comes up in about three minutes and 39 seconds hula's taking it bob that's fitting allowing hugo hool to go forward next point of reference along the racecourse is the sprint point not that far away in la place so let's see what the peloton does i'm sure the pace will hot up considerably coming into that but it is also at the end of a pretty significant not insignificant climb and there's the peloton still in a regular formation typical of a sprint stage but that's going to change dramatically leading into those last few kilometers before the sprint point [Music] [Applause] and there's the man now checking over what do we do about this now as he talks to mikhail markov there is lead out man cavendish with 168 points in the green jersey there's 20 available at well there's not now for those that i think if they don't catch those two there'll be 18 points available for cavendish in the sprint that'll help increase his lead though and keep him invincible for the rest of the day it works out i thought you might have wished chris jewell jensen a happy 32nd birthday bob if you had your chance though 1k to the sprint these two riders won't sprint it out we had who go through over the top of the cruise climb this is la passette here top of a little rise you can see those little obstructions in the road are a bit awkward at this stage of the sprint i suspect we might see torch van der sand go over this line in first place share the the few euros you've got on the road and why not incidentally bob as we watch the quotes sprint here after the they traditionally published the money won by the teams on the first rest day of the tour de france thus far and because of the fine riding by matthew van der pol who led the race for six days his alpercent fenix team of far outweighed everybody else and they've won a their 61 200 so far then you look at the the creme de la creme of world cycling ineos grenadiers they haven't won 5 000 yet which is absolutely amazing 500 meters to go and we don't anticipate to spin here but if it's if there is honor among thieves then i suspect the ride at the back will take the price they've worked together since the first kilometer today they've managed to run out to over six minutes they've been back to three and a half and at the moment they're in at two minutes 41. so the peloton have got the measure of these two riders now but they don't want to catch them just yet just around the corner there's the banner polish finder cena going forward 1500 euros up for grabs close to two thousand dollars in american money nothing to sneeze at if you're in the breakaway might as well collect some prize money for your teammates like you said alpha the first so far uh that might change before we get to paris and watch for today and his teammates to have quite a bit of money at the end of this year's tour de france if things go the way they have been so far in the tour for the uae team yes once you win the tour de france you get half a million euros so that's more or less confirms that uae if that's the way it is to be will be the big money earners on the tour now let's watch the build up here bob one kilometer to go you'll jensen on the front they're setting this up for michael matthews of course the man has got long-term prospects on the green jersey which he's also won before i'm glad they got around those obstructions there because that was at one kilometer to go but they safely dodged them mcclay and valshad in trouble here on the back of the field they're going to hope that it hesitates in the front before too long bike exchange derbridge on the front for matthews matthew's third wheel looking over his shoulder it looks like sagan and his men are coming to the front as well mark cavendish is there and excuse me kelbrelli is there ballerini is trying to take some points away from the other sprinters on fourth wheel yes for phillips and trying to get in on some green jersey points well it's looking like sagan is deciding to make a penetration on this and make sure he moves up in the green jersey competition he's won seven times he's the third man at the moment he's got jasper phillips on his back wheel who's following him watch out for cabrelli coming through on the inside and we're right about one thing that adam blythe said cavendish is not taking part in this sprint so as we break for the line now cavendish having his cold brell is going to try and take it here maximum points for the man who's become our climber as well as sprinter matthews and locked into him not sure he can get by him though because the champion of italy not only climbs but he sprints exceedingly well and he looks over his shoulder make sure he's safe he gets best of the rest michael matthews there was in second or in fourth in the actual race for the line 15 points closer for cobrelli the rest of the field coming through cavendish a long ways down probably won't get any points on that one so colbrelli a little bit closer but mark cavendish i thought he might be doing this to save his energy considering how tired he was after the mountains so maybe not sure how that translates through the finish however well adam blythe you are absolutely right or at least cavendish didn't tell you little porky pies did he because he didn't contest that sprint he did not film what is interesting one of the reasons why i don't think he is there's riders dropped out the back here the pace of that climb slight incline as ryder's going out the back there's a rider in front of me here from uh francis de gea so the pace is on on this climb so for that last climb we talked about the unclassified one i think we're gonna see some fireworks if they've gone up there that quick and they put people in difficulty it's gonna be uh it's gonna be a firework show towards the end that's what i like about you adam you read the race well and you make it exciting for me i'm looking forward to the finish now this is the green jersey of col blelly he's wearing the colors of the champion of italy which he won just before the tour de france with great pride here and the gap has come down to inside two minutes bob that acceleration has brought those riders back into the gunshots of the main field sagan looks like the fourth rider across there get a few more points fairways down davide balarini teammates of cavendish i think he tried to go for it take some points away from the green jersey competitors for mark cavendish but that didn't work out cobrelli really strong on that sprint matthew's not bad but sonny cobrelli proving that his his form is not a joke here goes stephen kung back on the attack here it's been a tough climb to that sprint point the kunic right on that and they know they don't want to tow the whole field the rest of the stage so they're trying to cover all of the counter moves so far these are the results of anderson going in ahead of hool then the big race behind for third place was won by colbrelli matthews phillipson matthews further down peter sagan only six he really isn't firing this year at the moment peters again now has it alter the standings no cavendish still holds first matthew still holds second but called berry colbrelli has closed right in on michael matthews now and phillips and up there too this is the inaudible driving black [Music] the big loss again port involved in a crash he looks okay he's checking his bike out there but look at the ineos boys here bob dylan van barrell and michael quick there waiting yeah lou grabbed the other one richie port fourth number 27 is luke rowe kriekovsky's just gone off the whole team caught in that one it really has not been team ineos's tour de france yet richard carapaz didn't seem to be caught in that so that's maybe the only good news for ineos garrett thomas number 21 there also sep coos caught up in that crash the american on the yumbo squad uh tough times continuing for ineos well for sure sep's going to get back into the race with three team ineos grenadiers in front of him to pace him back but uh let's have another look at this bob it's obviously the tightening down because of the obstruction in the center of the road number of traffic islands there and riders going from one side of the peloton to the next diving back across and oftentimes if you don't signal to the rider behind you uh we'll be unable to see those obstructions and there was a long series of those so wow blood to the elbow looks to be okay spare bike now doesn't have his race number on that grabbed his data unit and one water bottle he'll want to get topped off before he gets back into the field 41 miles of racing left plenty of miles for richie to get back in the field but not pleasant most certainly in the hard times i didn't understand what somebody said that i can see the grays on the left elbow there's a heavy fall even if it looks as though he's okay with it definitely perturbed no question about that but you know there's a lot of conjecture amongst the press at the moment that it's the riders causing the accidents and not the course and again the aggression of the riders and perhaps the inattention perhaps there's many riders now not quite so experienced as the old days in the tour de france also the fantasy the two leaders the fatigue is obvious and that just definitely prolongs the reaction time when you're so exhausted after understandably what's been an absolutely brutal opening week of the tour de france and three hard days in the mountains uh one rest day does not always enough to regain your reaction time phil absolutely well these are the two leaders and they're getting on with it and they're edging clear that crash has disrupted the chase two minutes 49 seconds they've gone out to now now everybody's been talking about the climb coming towards the end maybe shaking the sprinters so uh steve perrino has arrived there i believe so maybe he can tell us more about it steve phil you got that right in fact i'm just on the top of that climb and you could drop me on this climb but i don't know about mark hamdish it's about two percent grade so it doesn't look like an obvious place to make a move like sunny cobrelli was talking about and also i've been the guy at the finish line telling you it's fire and brimstone it's raining it's hailing not happening here there's not a breath of wind it's relatively warm you look up in the clouds there however you see something might be coming and if you look down here that black umbrella it just popped up and there's a man who lives right here in this region who told us after popping that umbrella when i see this i give it about 15 minutes before it starts raining oh dear me thank you very much steve uh well that the thing about this climb is bob it carries no king of the mountain points therefore it's not recognized on the race route yet they're all worried about it well they do the recon of all the courses to give themselves the best chance at the stage wins and cobrelli if it's if that's what uh he's looking forward to he might have a chance and that's looking forward in the yellow portion there not far away from now inside of 40 miles now last couple of hours of racing and but some fireworks still to come here's the chasers garrett thomas julian bernard etc trying to get back into the peloton don't see richie port there but presumably he's in that line of riders with his teammates i've just got some more information phil 14 kilometers to go up the stage there's also a dangerous punt uh point and most crucially kilometers to go it's very open for around two kilometers to a stretch of road that could be vital to well it will be vital to be at the front right you're really working me hard today adam that's three points we've got to look out for now 33 kilometers 14 and 9 to go adam who was that that gave you those tidbits so the nine kilometers ago was my own research that i did last night looking at the the road map on velo view which the the teams all use here and charlie regalius also gave me that one uh the 14k to go on also thank you very much adam well we're looking sadly at the catch now of hugo hull the canadian on team aston a premier tech which a team from kazakhstan going back into the field we are all together bob for the first time since the first kilometer of the race so now it's eyes down for the finish and the regalia's point is still 1.8 miles away so julian alle philippe is there in the white jersey with the rainbow bands with all of his teammates cavendish not that far down that line of ryder so cavendish defending his position well in the peloton but look at the backfill top of your screen riders getting dropped in droves after this peloton is being stretched out by the bike exchange squad wow posh vanderson off the front in the peloton for the blink of an eye and now off the back and still 22 miles to race to the finish uh there will uh he's got to stay reasonably in touch but normally he should be okay but after all that riding out front is now behind the race and i'm hearing that matt's pedestrian has been dropped now he is the former world champion we saw involved in a crash earlier on today our cameras aren't finding him but it's coming through on radio so it's a tough finish too for matt pedersen but you're right bob the pace has gone up a notch now and we're heading towards kilometer 33 to go two and a half kilometers to where the team ef education first said something will happen okay we'll wait him mads peterson may be dropped but not drop the jolly green giant mark cavendish riding very well so if bike exchange looks over their shoulder and michael matthews their sprinter is in trouble and mark cavendish is sitting pretty well that's why you don't see him on the front anymore well there's holding the rain back now steve perrino couldn't could hear me but couldn't speak but he's just texted and said the road actually at the moment is a bone dry look at the length of the pellet on bottom the problem oh my goodness me this is not at these speeds bob yeah and these are the crosswinds with that must have been blowing the kunik heard about that and they're at the front with the hammer down it's going to be an incredibly tough day and some splits starting to open up and whoa that's horrible luck for cobrelli oh that nobody deserves that he was that right at the front the cars are too far behind the hammer has gone down the crosswinds are coming the tour de france has suddenly changed its face in a matter of a couple of hundred yards there's a bike change they're trying to get it off quickly grab it but i'll tell you what bob at those speeds i don't think you can get back virtually impossible to catch back up unless there is a big change at the front and i don't see that they that the kunic isn't slowing down before the finish so cobrelli uh that's just a horrible timing and incredibly bad luck waiting for some teammates to come back i'm not sure if that's a good decision either maybe better just to try to get into the cars and hope there's not a barrage from the officials but look at at the front of the field in the meantime none other than julian allen philippe going as flat out hard as he can do with his teammates almost impossible for kubril to catch up at this point well this is becoming a team time trial here of the declining quick step they are doing through and off through and off as fast as they can go now they may well have known there was a problem to kibeli but i wouldn't suggest that but look he's absolutely livid bob he should be livid he's got no teammates he's had a flat tire and even if he does catch up uh what damage will that do to his chances to win the stage to catch up you would have to be absolutely exhausted before the finish and then how are you going to sprint at your best against the fastest riders in the world it's the tour de france it changes his face every few minutes of every stage but nobody deserves that luck as the hammer went down he's 34 seconds behind the race at the moment it'll get into the convoy of cars but as you say bob when he gets up to the bunch if he gets up to the bunch will he have the sprinting legs left to win the day pagata very near to the front one teammate coming back looks like marco hollow now i've got to pick him up and do the pace but he's so anxious to get there he's gone straight past him well that's what i mean if you're in the in the cars villa you can go much quicker than if a teammate is helping you and as long as the officials don't bring the cars back behind the chasing riders it might be better just to let him try to make it through all the cars by himself but holler trying to at least follow cobrelli back into the field now if he can do this he could get back into position at the back of the peloton 40 seconds but what will that take out of his sprint legs for the finish that's the real question well all i can say bob i haven't got who that teammate was but he's not been much help has he as he's gone through in the finish so i think i'm just checking there bob looking at him i think it's probably marco hallas a very strong rider indeed but cabelli the adrenaline is pouring that man was firing he believed he could win today and he's just out pouring out all the energy saved for the finish to just rejoin the race might get back on terms the question is where is he now i would say he was in the cars following the peloton you can see them on the left-hand side of the screen all of those cars are right he has done let's see if they can and not incur any penalties either phil by the way got to be careful yeah yep got to be careful but for me it's it's absolutely regular at the moment even though the car is just in front of him they're not really doing anything too wrong well that's his team that's the way to do it straight past keep going they'll allow you a little bit a few deep breaths if you keep going and making progress oh now the good news because moments ago and a terrific chase helped by mark o'haller sonic colbrelli is back in the peloton the next question though is bob how does he get through all of these riders does have to ply his way through and the narrow road exposed that's not an easy task most certainly but cobrelli a pretty handy bike handler in his own right so he'll need to use a lot of energy and that's maybe the main question for the bahrain team and marco haller also his lead out man so both of them involved in the chase after cobrelli's flat tire uh hats off to the mechanic with the spare bike got that off of the top of the car pretty quickly and cobrelli back into the to the mix sunny cobrelli named after miami vice character sonny crockett by the way played by don johnson a very popular series in the united states back in the 1990s well there has to be a story there somewhere i can't see him at the back anymore he's already making progress there's 162 riders in this peloton as far as i can work out i didn't count them all by working out those that got left behind the yellow jersey of bagatcha doing what he should be doing on a very dangerous stage when you lead the tour de france and that's right on the right of the road up near the front so you can see what's going on the three kilometer rule for timing will apply today which means any accident flat tire etc inside that last three kilometers 1.8 miles you take the same time of the group you are with so if you're with the peloton you're safe and you won't lose time there's a good brilliance on the left-hand side right can you see him bob yeah right there in the middle in the melee there in the green white and red national champion of italy's jersey one mile per hour uh is wrong he's going considerably i would say it was 51 kilometers per hour it was more likely the speed he's going at the moment now we're getting a little push to the front here maybe for case bob or is that a borah rider borah tv for peter sagan absolutely it's like wilco kelderman there's patrick conrad we've seen something of the finish from steve perrino who had to leave us abruptly because of all those cars but let's now catch up with the christian vanderbilt and take us to the finish christian i think that corner that pino was on is really the biggest one to talk about there 350 meters ago to go through a roundabout that's going to give a lot of attention to the peloton okay there's a corner right there 3k to go but pretty much straight for the most part but all eyes on this corner right here it's almost like a little bit of a chicane but yet it's still narrow especially going right to left and back right again you won't see the finish line until about 200 meters ago so that is really hard to really gauge your sprint there so you have to be really smart of where you have your team and where you to get left off with your last lead out my man there bobby so i really want to see who's going to be up there de koonix the best in the business oh eyes still on calf wisdom of having that corner so close to the finish line like you said christian uh in my mind it's plenty wide enough for the peloton to get through there safely so it's just a question of the comportment of the riders and the lead out of course and i i got to agree the kunic is the best at that watch for michael morkov to have his hands full from 500 meters to go to that corner through that corner and within sight of the finish line but patience you're right the order of the day if you can't see the finish line sometimes you get a little bit twitchy mark cavendish you don't win 32 stages of the tour de france without having some serious skills in all of the department that the sprinter needs now this is one of those roundabouts and some riders have gone the wrong way and they're going to lose position by doing that bob that's the long way round another round about just before three kilometers ago before that last right-hand bend before the finish line back to the peloton nairo quintana very handy in these situations very rarely loses time uh just needs to sit on and get to the finish line in the time with the stage winner and mark cavendish in the green jersey is hoping that is him and his team has been perfect so far bit of a gc battle i think this is in front of the 3k the safety banner luke grow on the front excuse me dylan van barro on the front doing the work for the teammate there's carapaz number 22. yes and he's the man they're keeping out of trouble and hoping that by the end of this tour he will be the man from ineos on the podium he's lying fifth place overall in the tour de france at this minute but in a very very good position and while we watch and commentate on the way the movement of the peloton keeps coming and going mark cavendish just sits there as calm as you like and lets his team guide him rick zobel on the front there from israel andre greipel looking dangerous right on his lead out man's wheel still a long ways to go greipel very close to the front but fancying his chances for the sprint today there he is number 34. well the pressure has gone on as well and again it is the work now address david is on the front number 57 as you can see as he keeps three riders in front of mark cavendish is taking another ride here but making sure he holds position and alaphilippe his other teammate sits behind him they're guiding him they're controlling him they're keeping him safe as they come down now towards the last four kilometers of the day case ball there as well for dsm cobrelli in the green sleeves he's there alaphilippe on the front mark cavendish three riders in front of him from his team but a long ways before the finish maybe the lead out is coming quite a ways i mean you have the power of giuliana philippe but you're going to need some more de koonick riders in front of kavanagh this far from the finish line phil well we just got one just arrived but i was also watching on the right on the inside of that bend as we've just come around it safely was uh phillips and phillips also tipped for victory today he's just in the bottom of our picture right now three k's to go safety barrier so that hopefully the gc teams we can peel off the front and not be involved in the rest of the closing miles julian olla phillipe still looking pretty cool at the front but it's a long ways out cobrelli with teammates still if he could win today's stage that would be absolutely spectacular in the black yellow and red of belgian champion watch out for wild fan art as well he's also positioning himself he's not wasting energy this is going to be a battle of the big sprinters for sure as they wind it up now dries david's on the front here looking down to the back the one man will be sat right in front of cavenish will be morka morkov his lead out man and that's who it is watch out for valttervan art as well he is a very good finisher if he gets a real crack at it now without duties for primos roglic the race could be for him today dsn moving case bowl on the outside the right hand of the peloton up into position close to the front long ways to go still julian olaf lee back to the work it at hand in the front dsm doing a big lead out for case bowl cobrelli riding well jasper steuven is there for mance pedersen so presumably he's recovered from his crash or maybe edward tunes could be head tunes and a look after the green top jersey the champion of italy at that puncture got back in at it when the race was at its highest levels and somehow has got through the mass and he's now right in with a shot here what's this oh it's goodbye to the world champion i think he's losing his shoe straps simply because he's done a magnificent piece of pacing now it's up to the rest peter segan getting in on the picture there bob in the white casper asgreen on the front in the dark blue segon on cavendish his wheel in the green while then heart is there also it looks like nasser bohani his teammates are moving towards the front next to sonny colbrelli yes the boxing man who once was disqualified for boxing is now coming up with the boys in the red jerseys and you can recognize him he can't see him at the moment he's got a full beard just outside of 1k to go and a big lead out casper asceri doing a huge turn at the front he'll have a couple of teammates before cavendish he's won two stages but this is looking like they're getting the 1k to go cavendish on the wheel of michael morkov in perfect position to win another stage phil and peter sagan wants the best bike hand in the world is getting really pushed around a bit there and out of the hunt he's gonna have to come from a long way down now well you can't say they haven't given a perfect chance but look at the ride on the right here as uh bahani comes through phillipson comes through at the lineup but cava is still holding off everybody in third place he is lining this up we're about 500 meters from the line here now the final lead out will come from the rider second rider in blue that's mikhail morkov he compiling cavendish to anywhere he wants to get through he's got him right on the bend that matters 250 meters to go cavendish he's got a break soon because bohan is going to go with him and valparaiso is going after cavendish more covers give him the kick kavanage is through cavendish will when he sees the finish he's locked on he's got to watch out with the finish from bernard it doesn't matter what a result by mark caverdish absolutely brilliant by his team and he's won three he's now one short of joining eddie merks on top of the stage win pile and i bet you bob when we first see him and speak to him he'll be thanking his team again spectacular lead out by the cuny yes that was a textbook lead out if you're going to look into the future and see how to do a lead out uh you're going to have to go a long ways to find a better one than dakunik did markov this is only a couple 100 meters left valve and art had a sight at it but not quite quick enough cavendish maybe he won't want to celebrate that close to the line again phillips and also almost getting there but number three in this tour number 33 in his career phil and look at that the three spinners ahead looking at the color jerseys called rally that chase bob ruined his finish not in the result today sadly for the italian but these three were neck and neck [Music] yes as mark said there that's the lead out and they delivered him to the line all he had to do bob was prove he still had those sprinters legs to cross the line in first place this man has got 33 stage wins in history in the tour de france he's now one behind the great belgian eddie merks and there's still the stages for him to go even one more than eddie max could be in paris the fast finishing on the right there van hart was still coming but cavad calculated as he does everything he knew that they wouldn't pass him if he put his arms in the air and they didn't phillips and on the right must think is this man ever to be beaten look at those cameramen all recording another win for mark cavendish three wins bob in the tour de france for a man who shouldn't be here amazing ala philippe the wolves they're never happier than when they're together at the finish of a bike race the face of michael matthews in the dark jerseys there couldn't match the sprinters at all forced into their slipstream once kav was launched from the pack the missile just locked onto that finishing line and there's nobody going to come over him never one spot of bother for cavendish never in danger in spite of huge pressure in the crosswinds in the closing miles his team so spectacular throughout going to be tough to beat kev in any of the sprints when the stages come down to that in the days to come phil well i've never seen the man so dominant there was no indication that his season would ever be like this and he'll be the first to tell you mark cavendish four hours 14 for the long ride today van art getting second phillips and third barrani fourth he's now two thirds a second and a fourth now bowani michael matthews in fifth place there as well all of them great sprinters walk off the lead out man for cava always manages to finish well up as well he hangs on in there for sixth triple who won at once here seventh peter sagan also won here he gets eight top ten completed by case ball case just isn't quite able to live with these sprinters at the end of a hard day in the saddle four minutes and 34 seconds i think we'll will we call this the autobus today bob the last finishes i think there's some riders behind this group there's garen thomas and richie port coming through tony martin cepcus man big differences in the finale a week ago right now when he won for the 30 first time and walked out there it seemed fair to kind of wonder aloud man he could get to 34 with as strong as he looked today now that he's at 33 and there's a possibility of four more sprint finishes would kind of be an upset if he didn't do it yeah i hate to say it but yeah you have a point there especially with chris's point i think is the best one the best one and i keep on thinking of that as well i mean you're not going to have this opportunity caleb you and sam bennett all these guys here who aren't here i should say and it's just the opportunity that you know he's here right now it was so unlikely that it was even on this team to make it and he's got the best team to lead him out he can't let this opportunity slide by i would love it that he wins it the 35th on the shops i think that maybe a little bit too much storybook but those are my dreams okay don't break them i think it's fair i think that's a fair dream so there we are it said 32 this morning and now 33 cab just one away from the all-time stage went to the tour from eddie mercs perfect ending to his day didn't have to answer any questions about it from the green and the winner of this day we moved to the man in yellow today pagancha you saw him we saw him kind of tucked in safely in the middle there close to the front and we said textbook for how cavs team delivered him to the finish kind of a textbook sprint type of day for for the yellow jersey yeah i think the only thing i saw out of the yellow jersey a little bit with just one or two teammates when we're in those crosswind sections but he himself is just so strong he's able to just ride himself into whatever position he wants so he's fantastic even on the flat stage today got a little dangerous no problem let me go left or right and i'm up at the front and no changes kind of as expected with the sprint finish day to the yellow jersey standings today on top little over two minutes ahead of ben o'connor who won a stage over the weekend rigo urberto iran remains in third and there you see six through ten after o'connor nobody within five minutes of tiny pagancha right now okay cab took a break now he put on the green and he's back there and he did increase his lead he said it wasn't a target today you hear him talking about just a minute ago about how they were going for the stage win the points came at the end so he increases his lead from 38 points in the sprint competition to 59 this afternoon yeah they just come with those big points at the finish line 50 points to the better of course you didn't pick up anything midway tomorrow's gonna be interesting to see those guys duke it out early on the stage especially when you're looking at mountbatten two two times maybe think twice about going for that sprint as well more on tomorrow in a moment green jersey standings after stage 10 sonny cabrelli up to 136 but kav by winning that stage just jumped back out there and pushing that lead even more [Music] another good story throwback as they called it this morning in the jerseys polka dot for nairo quintana second day that he will be in polka dots tomorrow quintana putting on massive effort and a great show yesterday going for the points we come up short for the stage of course getting dropped off just at the start of the last climb but really good display for us fans watching at home from the couch seeing katana up there going for that points jersey how big of a deal would it be for nairo to win the polka dot jersey for for him big but for his team incredibly huge so uh yes i think that this is a big one they're gonna fight tooth and nail i expect to see him fighting for that again tomorrow because this is really what the biggest points for this week and they have another rest day again and they'll be flying in the pyrenees and to the top young rider that's the rider under 25 today pagancha pretty much owning this at this point it's hard to see him coming out of that yeah it's hard to see him losing yellow or white right now with the way he's riding when you see a climber like him just so good on the flat crosswinds like we saw at the end of today's stage you know he's riding good in the mountains [Applause] let's see if anybody is close to today no looks very much like the yellow jersey standings he's riding away with the white jersey which he won last year as well
