is university town center here in la jolla california it is one of the newest revamped malls in all of san diego i've been going here since i was a kid even before the remodel and now it's just turned into a really luxurious mall with a lot of great restaurants a ton of great shops and i want to show it to you here on jaycation now if you guys haven't subscribed to jaycation yet please hit that everything outside but look how cracking it is this is around five o'clock in the afternoon man right next to it above is arc-like cinemas back in the day pre-pandemic that was one of the nicer places in san diego to watch a movie sugarfina san diego one of the more aesthetically pleasing walls here in the mall so right now we're walking through the newer part of utc this is where the shake shack is and the new nordstroms there's the shake shack right above that shake shack this area is a huge h m they made utc so luxurious over the years look at these poinsettias by the tree tons of places to sit and hang out this fountain by the nordstrom right here with a little fire this nordstrom was a newer addition and it opened up when the new utc opened up a few years ago right across the way they have under armour next to these beautiful awnings and the trees are decorated with a white ball with lights inside of it right across the way is the apple store you have to set appointments to get to the apple store through your store app so you can't go in there during the pandemic just to get in there you have to set an appointment this is one of the more unique bars too bad you can't go inside because there's a revolving fireplace that goes into the secret bar here at raised by wolves it looks like they have outdoor dining now this is my favorite store in all of utc key australia now if you guys see all my shades that i wear throughout the last four years i've been buying them here at key australia they have buy one get one deals every now and then and yeah it's just my favorite shades because they fit my face well right over this way up the stairs they have soil soul cycle going on you got more christmas lights around here they got a winery restaurant and bar true food kitchen check that out the wine bar by the winery with a nice little fire going on there this is la jolla village drive if you go down la jolla village drive you will hit torrey pines and the beaches if you go west if you go east it hit miramar utc has always been known to have upscale dining and larson steakhouse is one of them and they do have outdoor dining but doesn't look like there's anybody here this is a really cool looking restaurant right here they also have a nice fire pit you can lounge while waiting to get seated check out these nice steps going up the stairwell [Music] there is the famous din tai fung so if you want your dumplings and your upscale chinese foods dentai fung has arrived in san diego and it's all on the second floor right here [Music] it looks like you can do take out and pick up over here and they even have these outdoor tents for dining i've been meaning to do a video at din tai fung but with the pandemic plans have changed so eventually we'll get there there's a peloton store here [Music] another cool thing about utc are all these cool art installations that they have around the mall really decorative now this is the old utc that building used to be nordstroms and these used to be upscale shops but now they're just empty buildings because new utc is complete so i'm curious to see what they'll do with this area see that escalator down the way growing up me and my best friend used to go up and down that escalator and slide down it from the top yeah you were those [Music] kids check out this store sundance it's all decked out in christmasy stuff here's another cool installation looking like a school of fish growing up here in san diego this was the closest mall to where i lived in mira mesa it was only a 15-minute drive and my mom and my best friend's mom they used to come here every friday just to go shopping and decompress and me and my best friend and his sister grew up going here and we'd always hang out on friday nights have dinner at the food court and just check out all the newest stuff we used to go to sam goodies in the warehouse over here this is where i used to go to pick up my cds and cassette tapes back in the day as promised from the one paseo vlog i said i was going to go try out joe and the juice so let's go inside and check out some joanna juice so we just picked up the spicy tuna sandwich here from joan de juice it's nine bucks but i love this sandwich so it's worth it this is gonna be my dinner tonight [Music] i really do have so many more installations here now right next to the tiffany and co other stores down this way is warby parker and asetan and provence and a lululemon pop-up shop and this is the main town center square it's beautiful look at the sky at this time of night beautiful lights on the trees multi-colored fountain this awesome tower here [Music] this is the main center of utc right near the food court that i grew up going to on friday nights let's go in there and check it out there's also a skating rink in there i don't know if it's open though right now so this is the food court down this way used to be an arcade back in the day and i used to choose from panda express to s borrow pizza over here now they have different types of stores kebab grill craft pizza a little different but still the same type of food now the skating rink is open looks like they have some furniture shops here room and board back in the day this area used to be a sports chalet which was a sports recreation store where you can get gear for snowboarding and every other sport you can think of check this area out here it's a little darker this is like a botanic garden display now this building used to be sears back in the day where i get all my toys and my dad would get all his hardware and we got the pottery barn christmas display here and he found well it's not a christmas tree but it shaped like a christmas tree multi-colored lights over here i like that i love the multi-colored light right next to a pottery barn this is the christmas tree right here with visit santa right below it [Music] down over this way they have pottery barn kids william sonoma a seasons fresh grill there's also a corner bakery here and remnants of the old sears facade is still on it this used to be a corner exit of a sears back in the day we got the palm trees lit up with that blue sky [Music] so even though there's a huge 24-hour fitness here there's supposed to be an equinox opening up at some point next year and that's how it looks how it's going to look like [Music] other stores here are banana republic anthropology j-jill now this is the part of the mall that has actually not really changed these shops have always been here they've just been renovated a little bit throughout the years so yeah we're kind of in the old ucc part this is an amazon books used to be a brookstone back in a brooks brothers back in the day [Music] this tesla showroom right here actually used to be the apple store back in the day also got keels we are back here at the center of utc all parts of the mall lead back here and this express man and express has been here for as long as i could remember right under the tower they have this place called the queenstown bistro looks pretty cool [Music] this is a forever 21 that used to be a robinsons made department store when i was a kid and check this out my favorite european store my favorite spanish store zara so zara is spanish owned and it was my favorite spot to shop in barcelona because it was so cheap over there over here it's imported so the price is a little higher actually a lot higher i'm way out of fashion right now i have no idea what's in trend san diego has been part of many locations around here in utc in the past it's a skater surf shop and it's still going there's even an aldo here and an oakley if you're looking for san diego souvenirs they have a san diego shirt shop over here sell masks too now for as long as i can remember i remember when these fountains with the dolphins in it were new they've always been here next to the victoria's secret this is a famous toy shop geppettos with pinocchio's marinette right there and you guys know i'm afraid of marionettes but that one doesn't really creep me out that much well yeah these dolphins have been a staple in utc for years since i was probably in my early teens look at this they even have the grinch's grotto right now where you can visit the grinch so the stores here in this part of the mall are more where i go shopping they have a foot locker house of hoops here they have macy's i also mainly go to that key australia in the new part of the mall also got your staples wetzel's pretzels next a foot locker now this foot locker you can get some exclusives every now and then these shoes right here these are game of thrones adidas shoes i got them over here look at this new lebron james shirt i might have to pick that up all right pete kobe this macy's has been here forever now if you have your kids with you i'm sure when the pandemic is over they have a really cool jungle gym area right here a little jungle gym shaped like a fish and if you're looking for some healthiness veggie grill this is a really nice part of the mall you could hang out by the fire next to this restaurant called eureka eureka right here has some really good burgers and i've dined here with some friends in the past they also got haagen-dazs and 85 degrees bakery cafe here they have one in mira mesa but they have one here in the mall as well another fire that nobody is hanging out at and unfortunately this restaurant used to be a barbecue spot and it's now closed we also got a press juicery right here right next to the parking lot escalators is this cool display of various longboards and surfboards caught in on has some cool shirts every now and then they also have a place called wushilan boba usually there's a line here but not right now and my mom would enjoy seeing these succulents in and around displays they also got a super dry store here and an h m a huge h m now i'm debating i got this sandwich but i also want to see if i can grab some shake shack but i'm still debating it i don't know looks like that's at jay but it says joy now i'm a real big fan of these socks stance socks i actually have a couple pairs of padres stance socks and now we're back to where we started here's the our house and the shake shack shake shack or nose shake shack that's the question so i ended up ordering a shroom burger for my pops and i want to try their hot dog i've been craving their hot dog so that's dinner tonight well i have no self-control i ended up buying a pair of key australia's it was buy one get one free so i always end up taking advantage of that bogo when they have it a few times a year [Music] all right guys let's flash forward to jj at home to try out this hot dog and a jointed juice spicy tuna sandwich all right jaycationers so we're home now just heated up the spicy tuna panini sandwich from joe and the juice now it's a pretty flat sandwich i know it's a little costly but it's it's so good i love it brings me back to copenhagen and my trips around europe when there would be a jointed juice around i always took advantage of this sandwich and now we can get it here in america and it's just right down the street from where i live i'm also trying out their hot dog at shake shack and i got my dad a shroom burger all right let's dig into this hot dog hmm it's actually a flavorful hot dog it has a quality taste to it i actually really like their hot dog it's a little small for 3.99 you definitely get a cheaper one at costco but if you're craving a hot dog at shake shack they don't make a bad one and it does taste different i'm really basic when it comes to hot dogs i don't like relish i just like mustard and onions that's it i don't even like mixing ketchup with it this is a good hot dog though i gotta admit and this right here is my dad's mushroom burger also guys if you're here for two hours the first two hours are free if you can get your shopping and leisurely stroll done in two hours you
