A Tour of Celebrity Homes in La Jolla! See where Dr. Seuss Lived! (San Diego Real Estate)

[Music] come take a drive with me to see the sights and sounds of la jolla but more importantly to see where the famous celebrities live such as where dr seuss lives raymond chandler cliff robertson and you're going to see secret spots that only a local would know get ready buckle your seats and let's go for that drive i'm michelle silverman your global luxury realtor from la jolla california this is the la jolla mesa drive we're driving down and what you see in the distance is pacific beach you see the crystal beer right now we're in lower hermosa we're driving down camina del acosta and you will see on the ocean side you have mansions and the mansions are from 10 million to 30 million and one of the nicknames for the street is it's called the street of dreams because everybody wants to live on camino de la costa truth so pretty so we are going to drive by one of the famous residents that lived in la jolla raymond chandler right now i'm standing if you see in the distance right over there that rock that's in the water is the iconic bird rock across from me i'm looking at the famous house that raymond chandler wrote his mysteries and he lived there for about 13 years in the late 1940s and he kept himself he and his wife he wasn't very social but they loved the easy flow of living in la jolla compared to the hustle and bustle of la what's great about this neighborhood is you see the oceanfront homes and you see some of the homes have retaining walls already in place those are the lucky ones those have been grandfathered in this is one of the famous views of la jolla enjoy the sunset it's never really crowded because it's really locals know it come with me as i take you on a tour of other famous homes that celebrities have lived in in la jolla from years ago and to today's times the cool thing about wind and sea is in the 1940s there was a band of surfers that surfed wind and sea and they created a shack that shack is literally called the shack and during the holidays they always put a wreath on the roof of the shaft now one thing you might not know is wind and sea was in the conic song from the beach boys surfing usa they came down here they saw the surf and they wrote the song i'm going to take you down this street dunamir where i might be dating myself but cliff robertson used to live here cliff robertson was a famous actor um he was in movies and in plays and in his tv series and he was just known to be an old-time actor cliff robertson's house was known as casa de la paz and he lived at 325 which is right over here and next door to him on the other side is mitt romney's house another famous celebrity that lived in la jolla who grew up in la jolla was raquel welch in fact she was miss la jolla she did go to la jolla high and rumors is that she lives somewhere in the village okay there's the tree half of the tree the famous tree that dr seuss wrote about the lorax see how the tree's a little bit lopsided that was inspiration for dr seuss so we are going to go to his neighborhood this neighborhood is country club and dr seuss lived in this neighborhood from 1941 and he died when he was 91 and why they call it the country club neighborhood is because the la jolla country club it sits on the very top of the mountain there's an 18 hulk golf course in the middle of these beautiful estates and this is where dr seuss lived for theodore geisel and in this neighborhood also if you can remember gateway computers ted waite had a home up in the country club neighborhood this we're going to go down here this is the secret path we're going to go we're going to do this okay you won't be able to see his house from the street but it sits on top of the mountain and it has this unbelievable view where dr seuss lived a couple years ago when audrey gazelle was alive dr seuss's wife she had a the lorex statue that was in her backyard someone stole it so it was a the joke around was who took the lyrics and believe it or not they found it and they brought it back to her and this is the view that dr seuss had that probably gave him inspiration and this is where he wrote his children's book and at ucsd they have dr seuss's library as you can see all the way up to del mar you can see la jolla farms that's over that way you see the beach and tennis club down below when you're adventurous and when you have tennis shoes on it's a fabulous hike and it takes you down towards the village but again not very many people know that it's even here and you can see all the way down to utc you can see the mormon church the white steeples over there and it's just a nice panoramic view and again when you come here generally you never see anybody it's real special give me a call let's go out for coffee and let's put you in the driver's seat i'm michelle silverman your global luxury realtor in la jolla california [Music] you
