Top fishing spots Corpus Christi - Port Aransas-Aransas Pass

uh what kind of sunglasses should i wear today guys i got a small addiction to buying sunglasses should i wear the oakleys the ray-bans uh we'll probably do the costas today yeah buddy these are sweet one thing you gotta do when you live in south texas so you guys gotta protect your eyes man ain't nothing better than putting on a nice pair of coasters today guys we're gonna shoot part two of top fishing places in port aransas corpus christi rockport aransas pass area a little too windy to go fishing today so i decided i'm gonna go ahead and shoot this video so let's get this video going [Music] all right first on the list guys is going to be the upper laguna madre right off the causeway spid all you do is take the intercoastal turnaround and go up underneath the bridge as you can see the bridge back behind me right here this is a good place to launch a kayak or a small little john boat or something like that you've got some pretty good-sized redfish right over there you got a canal underneath the bridge there and at night it used to be when the lights would shine down on the water the shrimp would move in and the trout would follow right behind them in redfish so i haven't fished there in a while you could wade fish here you just got to be real careful with the stingrays there's a lot of stingrays out here that i have seen on the weekends there's a lot of people here so this is a pretty good spot fish all the way up along all the way along this bridge on the shoreline on both sides right now the tide's down it's really good here when the tide is up you can see how low the tide is right now so if you're new to corpus christi or you come down here on vacation you just want to fish right here you know where you can do a little wade fishing this is perfect this is also a good place if you like to win surf and stuff like that people camp out here and everything so really good spot guys all right let's head to my second favorite place to fish [Music] thank [Music] spot number two just after you get off the causeway and you get on the island you look for the starbucks on your left turn into the parking lot of the starbucks and right on immediately on the left is a dirt road and you can come all the way up here in the upper laguna madre not too far from vacary channel actually the channel behind me right here is going to be if you go around that corner over there would be packery channel area all through there so this is really good for when the tide is in wade fishing you can wade out there pretty pretty deep and get about waist deep and cast right out there in the channel i've caught plenty of uh speckled trout here a couple redfish and uh stuff like that number two right by the starbucks off spid as soon as you get on the island starbucks is on the left turn into the parking lot this is a really good area guys uh if you like wade fishing and uh it gets pretty deep out there where the boats come through i don't know i'd say it's probably 15 feet deep 20 feet deep might be less but i like coming here probably in the afternoon between two and five in the wintertime if you're in the summertime probably between four and nine would be a good time to come here [Music] behind me is called dead man's hole this is a really good spot if you have a kayak because you got to walk way way way out there by those electrical poles and lines out there to get the deeper water if you're going to walk it's pretty good walking it's only about a foot and a half deep most of the way out to those electrical lines out there and that's where the deeper water where the drop off is you got a kayak works perfectly here you can catch some redfish trout uh black drum uh all kinds of different things flounder you can even go flounder gigging in here at night usually this place in the summertime is packed so what i would suggest is come here monday through friday dead man's hole if you've got a kayak this is a perfect place out here i'm gonna walk you around here and show you a little bit of it they do not allow camping out here so you're not gonna be able to camp out here but you can see it's only about six inches maybe to a foot deep right here and it's like that all the way out there so if you got a kayak you want to go way way out there where the water starts dropping off and getting deeper that's where the fish are when the tide is in you got to walk through all these rocks so i'd be extremely careful all right guys let's head to number four number four this is called dead man's hole off of 361 as you're going to port aransas on 361. i'd say probably about a mile mile and a half past packery channel it'll be on your left you'll see the bird overlook that'll be the first one and then it's the next entrance to the left [Music] that's spot number four guys the dollar general canal it's been known to uh catch some uh pretty big gators out of here like 10 foot long all kinds of different types of fish in here see it runs all the way besides the uh dollar general which is over here you can see the dollar general i've seen some pretty big things in here man i don't know what's in here but there is some pretty good sized fish that are swimming in these waters you can see it runs all the way up there all the way down here number four number four the dollar general canal right in port aransas texas oh homies girls i've never seen a busload of amish people on the beach before that's kind of interesting [Music] all right guys spot number five is going to be i'm standing on the south jetty is the north jetty you got to take a little ferry over there it's like 18 i believe it's at woody's let me know in the comments if i get that wrong but you spent 18 bucks it'll drop you off and it picks you up all throughout the days you can actually catch better fish over there on the surf than you can over here for some reason i don't know what it is but again you have uh the south jetty which is right here where i'm at right now and then you have the north jetty you have to have a boat or you take the ferry over for 18 so that's spot number five you can catch some pretty big sharks off the beach over there uh flounder in the rocks trout redfish you name it it's over there i sometimes think the north jetty is better than the south jetty and the south jetty runs all the way hell out there you can see all those people over there so it's less packed if you go on the north jetty but again it's going to cost you 18 bucks just to get over there unless you have a boat and they're doing a lot of work on these jetties right now as you can see they're repairing them after uh hurricane hannah let's head to spot number six [Music] number six is gonna be charlie's pasture you can see an actual ship going by me right now this is a really really really good spot for uh catching pretty much everything that you can catch at the jetties you can catch redfish trout and big old drums this is a really good spot in the summertime spring summer time uh you just got to come here monday through friday man it gets pretty packed here on the weekends you also got to watch out for these ships that come by they'll produce some pretty large waves that will actually come over these rocks right here and uh just swamp everything out into the water including your kids so be real very very careful when a ship comes in that you guys move your stuff back but up there guys is a nature preserve like a nice little park i'll cruise up there and show you guys exactly what i'm talking about but this is a pretty large area to fish at it's like a sea wall and the way you get here guys is you just go right downtown port aransas like you're gonna get on the ferry just don't turn right into the ferry and just keep going straight and you'll dead in right into charlie's pasture and the nature preserve and all that seeing people catch some big fish out of here using live mullet and live shrimp i haven't seen anybody catch anything on lures here i've tried lures and never caught anything but mullet live mullet and live shrimp seems to work really really good here good place to come fishing at night too you'll need some lights like a lantern or something like that i have no idea if you guys can camp here or not but let me let you read this sign up here let's explain what i'm talking about about the waves [Music] it says you could be swept out to sea [Music] [Applause] [Music] little windy out here guys harbor point park in aransas pass they got a small little pier over here that you can see way over there what's up big guys this is a really good area to fish uh it's lighted as you can see the lights up there so you can come out here at night during the day and probably catch you some big old reds and some trout and uh some pelicans as well oh these these pelicans down here a little too friendly you see the whole park right here it's pretty nice i'm gonna come out here this weekend so this weekend i'm gonna come out here and go fishing i don't know if i'm gonna fish on a pier probably the bank what's up fred [Music] what are you doing buddy that was one cool pelican wasn't it [Music] that's pretty good-sized park man lots of room over here all right this is number seven harbor point park aransas pass so as you get off the ferry from port aransas come up to uh over the causeway bridge in the aransas pass and then take a right as you're going to rockport and you should see the sign probably about two or three blocks let's head to number seven the last and final stop [Music] this is downtown corpus christi texas you can fish along all the sea wall over here behind the sailboats and the harbor pretty much everywhere downtown guys really good spot i love it down here it's just perfect when the weather's good all right over here you can see right there where people are fishing along the sea wall in the marina you can catch big old drum redfish pretty much everything
