[Music] so you have to list out all your favorite games hundreds of lots of thought but there's no room to waste even if you ponder it's so very long someone on the internet will tell you you're wrong [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay [Music] hello and welcome out to the dice tower this is one of our many top 100 videos that we are doing this is number 50 through 41. i'm wendy yee i'm camila cleg horn i'm chris yee and i'm roy kennedy how do you all feel that we are halfway done well as z garcia would say we're finally getting to the games that are better than 51. i think he said that three times today yes yeah he likes to make it a point that we're just now getting good mm-hmm good son i have quite a few games that are older but like old but goodies how old are mine did you just get excited i have a i know shopping right i have a very beige game oh in fact a beige train game today how many shades of beige spaceship like four solid shades of beige we have sand we got sand we got taupe we got burnt umber burnt umber yes and sunny beach so there you go i'm gonna say a little teaser one of my games might be just as beige but it's definitely not about churches roy this is not yet any of my amira trash stuff see american stuff is higher on the list or just didn't make the list at all soon i suspect we shall have crossover soon i don't know about anything from today's today i know there'll be one crossover that's exciting i've just i've just decided that i'm just not going to cross over with you guys on anything so it's okay you don't know i might include the lord of the rings 90s trading card game i know for a fact we will have at least two crossovers not today but in the top 50. i'm sure at least two in the whole top 50. you got it all right let's start with number 50. [Music] first star starting off with my number 50 how about a push your luck game no i think i'm gonna push you i really like what you're looking for how about a push your luck game that's titled push you knew it i did is it giving birth dice dice i really like this game it's mostly cards there is one die and it's funny because the die is the is the bad thing you want to avoid the die you're flipping over cards you can see on the picture there that there's three stacks you can add cards out to these stacks one at a time you can choose to keep going or stop you cannot repeat a color or number in the same stack once you are done flipping cards over you'll grab a stack the numbers on there are points but then the next people uh in line in player order are going to then be able to grab a one of the remaining stacks and the third person will grab a stack if one of them shows the card with the die symbol there you have to roll the die and you will lose all of the cards you have of the color that you roll so you have a fat stack of reds gone they're wiped if you bust you have to roll the die it's so simple it's it looks horrific it looks like uno looks like uno but worse almost but the gameplay is so smooth and i think actually the graphic design the look of it works because it's disarming right like i brought this to lunch many times at work uh in when i didn't work here and yeah but it's such a perfect like office work like uh like lunch game or whatever uh people look at it and think like oh it's gonna be like uno it's way smarter than uno uh and i i just i simply love it so that's my number 50. one of my favorite pushy luck games push salt and pepper would be proud of me oh good one it's a good one my number 50 is i think considered a kids game generally but this is one of those kids games that i don't mind playing with adults especially with the expansion i think the expansion brings a lot but even just the base game um it is ghost fighting treasure hunters the punches are back they're back always oh there we go all right crushing cars explosion um yes who goes fighting treasure hunters this is pretty generally just a roll and move game but you are going into this haunted house as one of these four little kids and trying to get rid of the ghost collect the treasures and get out of the house as well so it's roll and move which is you know can be kind of frustrating but i find but that's also like a really easy entry point with it and because of that and you can have a really bad role it really forces that cooperation you know so it is a cooperative game as you're going into different rooms and then the door will walk behind you maybe you have a really high move and you're gonna i'm just gonna go one space but i rolled a six hey let's switch gears and i'm gonna go over here because i got a high move and maybe you can get over here so it just kind of forces a lot of cooperation and communication as well um oh man i should've put a picture of my game up here because it is ugly but do the ghosts glow in the dark they look like they do they look like they do but no you haven't tested this i'm disappointed in myself boy i am so sorry i'm like wow right now i'm just supporting myself ugly because my son picked out the colors because you know it's a game i want to play with him i was like oh so he has one that looks like him and i painted it i painted them you know and so i was like okay so oh i want that one i have gold socks i'm like oh like yellow my game looks really ugly my son picked a character to look like yeah and so yeah anyway but it's it's so much fun i really enjoy this um like i said i've even played it with just adults with the expansion um but it's also really hard i don't i don't think i've ever won with the expansion but it came out in 2014 i have no reason to have not played this you don't really want to right you should probably just turn in yourself i'll teach you adrenaline if you teach this to us because you know i clearly couldn't just pick this kid's game up from the rule book yeah no no clearly not no yes all right i will teach you chris i will do a solid all right my number 50 goes fighting treasure hunters my my number 50 is by one of my favorite designers phil walker harding and this is gingerbread house cute name it does not taste good don't eat the cardboard pieces camilla okay do what you want don't let her hold you back me are you pointing to me fairy tale like you're building a gingerbread house oh my god out of cute little cookies and stuff so what you're doing is you're basically you're trying to collect these little monster cards i think or something you're fulfilling contracts essentially fairy tale creatures they're fairy tales you're luring them into your culture yeah you're trying to like eat them or something fantastic yummy multiple used children theme kind of useless to me but what i really like about this game is that you have these little domino pieces and you're placing them on your board and you get whatever's underneath so you get cute little cookies of different colors and you're trying to yes lure things into your cauldron so you can eat them you can also trap monsters in in like a little jail prison thing in your house if you want to make it so that nobody else can lure those monsters away from you they can be all yours before you eat them but i really love the way it stacks up it's very 3d it's very puzzly and very tactile in the way that this plays so as you're laying your dominoes out you can't ever put dominoes directly on top of each other you have to make them cross over at least two different dominoes and there's ways to add little um platforms so that if they're sticking off the edge you can add platforms underneath them but you'll have to earn those so there's really cool stuff going on with this tactilely and it's fun puzzle and it's definitely a phil walker harding win so that's my number 50 gingerbread house delicious my number 50 is actually a very beige game but it is not a euro in any way whatsoever it's a very much a deduction to game and that is awkward guests but look at that cover so beige but this is a game where it's basically kind of a game where you're kind of like drafting cards a little bit but you're trying to figure out who this murderer is as you like trade cards back and forth in between different players you set the game up with all these different cards that are going to kind of give you clues to who the murderer is and you'll be like questioning different people or finding like oh they went through this room or they went through that room or oh they did with this weapon or which weapons they didn't do it with you know that sort of information you're trying to have it all together so that way you can actually solve the murder and figure out who the murderer was what path they kind of took and how they did it it's very interesting game as well because sometimes some of the people you're gaining information from can kind of be a little bit weird or dishonest and you kind of have to gain that off of the clues that you're seeing and i really like the way this game plays out it's just a really cool deduction game where you're just kind of figuring out how you want to trade that information back and forth with players because all the different information has different values it's like okay i'll put a two in front of i'm gonna or everybody's gonna like trade twos and you have to trade the same value like strength of information back and forth you have to choose who you're trading with you know if you think if chris seems like he's doing really well or acting like he's doing really well i might not trade with him as much i might trade with you guys or whatever strategy so it mixes it up a little bit with the information you get back and forth and then finally somebody solves the murder and uh that's the end of the game but awkward guest is a blast and i've had a ton of fun playing it and it is beige so camilla you solved the murder you don't cause the murder i'm out just saying well you know you do get to you do get to look at murder weapons part two try me you can at least think about oh look at the grim ways this person died i don't know if you could test them out be like let me see that knife i need to do some practice runs with it you know the awkward part of awkward guests is that someone got to him before you come on awkward anyway number 50 awkward guests [Music] my number 49 is also a phil walker harding game also involves eating lots of sweet treats also is not gingerbread house recently uh it's by buffalo games it's very affordable it's in the u.s in target i'm not sure how available it is internationally unfortunately but it's a very smooth very simple deck building game that i really like it is i don't know it does the phil walker harding classic thing of is it strips down uh so many ideas down to a core that is streamlined and yet still really engaging i i love the theme you're basically trying to race your campers across these tracks here and get to the end i like games with tracks and this is tracks and you're encouraged to try to race one straight across but you also have three different tracks to move up so you're encouraged to get all three of them moving equally i think that it's so charming uh i never even went to summer camp myself like i have no nostalgia no not like scout camp no i once got have you camped i hate camping i once got to pretend that i was a boy scout in troop 419 and i got to go to mountain man rendezvous so this is a fantastic game for you i got to go to mountain man rendezvous so this is a fantasy game for you this is this is sci-fi yeah exactly it's almost like being in space yeah oh the life i could have had i play these cards yeah but but is this one of those times where the theme i think really carries the game for me even though i don't have nostalgia for it i know that i'm just having so much fun you know all the stereotypic tropes yeah exactly wow yeah so that's my number 49 a fantastic really neat look i like the look of this one have you have you tried this one i haven't no oh okay i really like the look of it yeah i think it was all my top ten artwork of last year oh okay it wasn't this one it was i think you were considering it right i remember i went with this one or with the other one that came out that looks like it uh not parks because i was the airport trails i think trails yeah yeah i think you wanted to go with trails so 49 summer camp nice my favorite sci-fi game good stuff my number 49 is not a crossover yet but i'm pretty sure it will be my number 49 is gizmos this is basically almost like i've never heard worker heart yeah this is brought to you by i did not know this is phil walker harding okay um yeah gizmos is a pretty straightforward engine builder in which you are building a machinery and trying to trigger different actions at one time you know kind of comboing your actions together and triggering them as you are taking different parts which are going to allow you to draw different marbles in order to fuel your different engine and it's pretty straightforward there's you know you draft a card and there's one of four things that it can do not that you can do that where you can play it which will then again eventually play into your engine and you want to kind of have this like self-fulfilling engine you know at some point and so it's pretty quick it's very tactile it has this marble run kind of thing and i just think it's a really good combination of that tactile fun but also thinky enough to not feel like you played a short light game you know it has an interesting depth to it uh simple rule set with some some depth to it and again it's tactile i like it i like to touch it it's one of those times with the gimmick yeah the touching the marbles and stuff it also speeds the game along so you're never like let's reshuffle the energy deck right exactly throw marbles in the dispenser like yeah just put it back at the top and it's not like oh trade this for that or for that you know it really is just like one type of resource you know different colors and that kind of stuff you always see in front of you and it really is it's really quick and it's i want to say it's the first game you taught me it's very likely yeah i think so it's not you know i like it a lot right when it really does like like less than 49 on probably probably somewhere up there so my number 49 is apparently a phil walker harding game uh gizmos well that's fun super fun fun fact actually is that originally he played it with cards instead of the marbles oh no and it was the simon or come on or however you pronounce that uh they are the ones that suggested the marbles and then made it a bigger more tactile thing well i'm going to call it a simon game instead of a field worker harding feel better about the choice let me have it combined i don't know what do you know about publishing games roy oh i don't know much about publishing though never never been there okay my number 49 is architects of the west kingdom this is shem phillips and [Music] [Applause] thank you thank you for doing that with me okay one thing i really enjoy about these these games that these gentlemen put out is that they do fun weird stuff with worker placements and so in this game you put a worker pla you put a worker out on the spot and you collect a single resource if nobody sends that worker to jail you put another worker on that spot now you have two oh you have two resources this time three four it's like this weird pusher luck of like when is someone gonna think that i have too many workers on this space how many resources can i get before they send all those workers to jail and they do that um so that they can take that spot but then also that's how you get your workers back so you start with like 20 and you just keep putting them on the board and they're just you're losing all your worker resources until someone sends them to jail and then you get to do stuff to get them out but i just think that's such a cool mechanism and it's so unique and i just really appreciate what they do with worker placement games in general so this is fun also you can like be super corrupt and you can like steal the taxes money and you can get like bonuses for the more evil that you get but then you also can't like build up the church yeah it's pretty awesome so it's kind of miranda's for evil yeah bonuses for evil it's got some cool stuff in it really enjoy this game so that is number 49 architects of the west kingdom every time you take from the tax pool you're like i'm like robin hood except super selfish i steal from the rich ends um so my number 49 is a exploration game it's a survival game called seventh continent this is a game where you're going around trying to explore finding out different things for like the different scenario that you're currently in but the whole time you're trying to survive as well the i love the way that actions and like tests work in this game you have this deck of cards that you're going through and it has a bunch of like items and things that you can end up building out of it if you end up getting those cards in your hand but also there's a number of stars you have to kind of like make together with these cards there's a little bit of like pressure luck of like how many cards am i going to draw from that deck to try to complete whatever task i'm currently doing but if that deck runs out you start to lose the game because it goes through one more time and then you lose um so you're constantly trying to find food and be able to rebuild that deck but all the time trying to figure out the subtle clues of which direction you're trying to go to actually complete your current objective you can put hours and hours and hours and hours into this game trying to explore and then finish one of the scenarios and then you start again or you put hours and hours and hours in and then die and not play games for like four days because you're still just so angry or you could say for example not really not a real life experience it could happen i don't have that much time to play games for that many hours so if i do end up dying i'll be like let's just rewind around okay yeah anyway i had a lot of fun with the exploration and the the just the sprawling nature of this game and the way you can kind of like go any direction it might be the wrong direction but you can kind of go any direction in this game and explore the world and it makes this crazy gigantic map that you're discovering new things in the whole time i really enjoy seventh continent and that's why it's my number 49. i think this game does a really good job of like having puzzles in it without you feeling like you're playing an escape room game like a puzzle-centric game you know i think that was one thing i really liked about it there's a lot of like subtle clues of like oh i can see there's a little bit of there's a little bit of there's something over in the bushes here let's look in the bushes oh there's a rabbit there let's get it and get food or whatever even like you know the little clues that'll come through the narrative like oh you traveled three days and then came to a bridge and so you're looking at the whole map you have oh maybe it's talking about here you know those little puzzly kind of clues or maybe you'll find something in a cave and it's like it's like turn right at the totem in the north or something like that and you're like oh there's a tone in there right we gotta turn right now yeah exactly and so like like feeling like it's a puzzle game without that being the whole core mechanism too i thought it did a really good job of subtly putting that in i think you guys are selling this i knew almost nothing about this oh really yeah i really enjoyed this one this sounds really cool very that hypothetically happened it's very like long form and campaign-ish it feels like okay but it's a lot of fun yeah how's lukewarm on my first play of this but also i think i tried it with four people with low player account it's basically solo or like one other person right yeah you can't play with a lot of people because you're not gonna have anything to do i never play it too so i don't i don't know if i can play this i think that's why this game grew on me is because i played it at four and then sounds bad tanked it you know i was like nah and then came back to it too actually i think i played there's one few games even when you play it two it's still almost solo because you're doing everything together i did two-handed solo is how i did it so it's a lot of fun seventh continent [Music] all right 48 last my last pick was summer camp so let's go to something that sounds just as delightful as summer camp let's go to the mining colony oh wow wow yeah this high i really like this like this game this it's it's uh this is a steve finn game and he is hit or miss sometimes he makes these really really light almost kind of nothing games and then sometimes he makes something that's incredibly engaging and yet doesn't have a lot to it right there's not a lot of pieces you're kind of doing the polyamino tetris thing you're building up to mars i guess very orange so it's mars but it's almost beige but this spatial puzzle is so cool because you're trying to send out the the the polyamorous pieces and you're trying to put different little uh uh different little wooden bits onto it mines and spaceships other wooden spaceships and so if you can put them a certain number of spaces away from each other that's when you start getting the crystals and stuff in between them and so everything you do is some points but then if you can puzzle it correctly you will get lots of bonus points as well as a really interesting uh um what you call initiative deck where you're trying to choose to go first or you know spend uh you know lower ranked cards to be like ah the lineup of resources this round i'll take anything you know and then someone takes them on stuff and go oh except for that so i don't know you're always engaged it's super fun super puzzly i like a lot the 48 mining colony very nice i like someone comments called it rage color r-e-i-g-e that's awesome all right my number 48 is caper europe this is a two-player game um i've only played the europe one which i know is is the newest one but it's the only one i played and this one you are thieves and you are trying to go and it's kind of the area majority i guess kind of uh feel to it where you're going and you're sending out your different thieves and adding different equipment to them in order to tip the scale towards your side so that you can end up getting that piece of artwork um so the two player game i really like that again that push and pull of it as you are trying to complete this heist and get the most number of artifacts um and again trying to balance that with the weapons and they they all score a little bit differently you know like if the thief has a special color um then he'll score maybe those colors more and so you want to attach the specific not weapons like you think of their weapons but they're not it's um equipment um should be everything's a weapon if you should be a weapon that's right it could be a weapon hammer multi-use just science okay um you know so you're trying to kind of create those combos as well with it and i think that brings an interesting depth to this game as well you know it's like okay am i going to go really heavy in artifacts and just try and win all the majorities or am i going to try to actually use my thieves most efficiently into or to maximize the points there so it has this neat push and pull trying to the artifacts but other things you're balancing as well and i just really think it's a really smooth two-player game is caper europe i love the the carmen san diego reboot look to it right yeah it really does i think it's adorable awesome my number 48 is a very cool train game it's the is it paige i don't know if it's page let's see switching signal is my number 48 this is really high this is really high i really like this game ah so i i have been moving away from basic co-op games and really loving ones that have good thinking good decisions and i feel like this one is fabulous so this what you're trying to do is you're trying to get a variety of trains that are moving all to the locations that they want to you want to pick up stuff and deliver stuff but all that you're playing is move trains you like roll a die move that color train or you're playing little signals so you've got you're moving tracks like if a track is going straight through at a cross section you're making it so now it curves at a cross-section you want to make sure that this train that's coming through curves before this other train that's coming down the same track needs to then switch it out so it's very cool you're just basically switching up intersections and changing lights and signaling things you're switching and signaling hey and also there's some tracks that are just shut down and so there's green pieces for green cards for opening up tracks completely and then there's little black cards pieces for switching the signals and then you have move trains like it's so very basic simple but it's really stinky and it's really awesome and i love it if they're expanding working together to do this that's kind of cool yeah yeah it's a weird co-op i think this was my 9. it was my nine and if there's like some expansion maps and stuff that could come out for this this could really move up for me too it's it's got it's got good stuff so that's my number whatever you tried to get me to play this with you didn't you maybe i was super smooth and saying absolutely not i would rather jump off a bridge chris i think we're your worst the idea of a cooperative train game right yeah i really don't think you explained it well because that well done switches and signals that's what i'm saying all right cooperative that's my number 48. so for me this is my uh space game pick for this uh block one i only had one last time i saved them all to the end oh i'm less disappointed now so uh this is my uh number 48 is starship samurai so i really enjoy this game i think this is kind of like an underlooked game i've had a blast with this game it's a game basically where your actions you have basically a one a two a three and a four and there's several different actions you can do and you have to choose which number you're going to put on those different actions if you pick the two on build ships you're gonna build two ships you pick two on draw cards you're gonna draw two cards and you're only you're gonna use one of each of those so you have to choose what you're gonna do one of choose what you're gonna do four of um and you can also move stuff around but you also have these big gigantic samurai that can come out and have special abilities that can help crunch ships up if those sectors are full and you're trying to basically area control the different planets but the whole time you're also trying to influence all these different like space factions and you get points for having influence on those factions as well so being able to control the planets gives you influence over the factions and that gives you points and it's just a lot of fun and i think it's a game that not a lot of people have played or looked at and it's it's really fun i mean they see it they're like oh it's just mechs and stuff like that but it's a blast of an area control game especially like it's really quick playing as well so there's a lot of cool little combat going back and forth it feels a lot like something along the lines of blood rage-ish sort of game so it's a lot of fun if there's if there was ever an area control game that i wish i liked it was it's this one because the the theme the models yeah the look of it have you painted yours some of them yeah i did it with that color shift paint so like when you put it in the light like they changed it looks so good you should bring those in to show me i i didn't enjoy it there's a few everyday games all done so i'm like i should finish it i only did something you should do that you should get on it special requests yeah you know i have all that time and all your in all your all your paintings but yeah i love uh starship samurai it's blast and you should you should like it chris it's a blast because it's in space shame shame [Music] all right my number 47 is almost six as exciting as starship samurai it's concordia i love this game this was uh this is the first one of this chunk here that was on my list uh four years ago when i made it on top 100 top 100 it was at 32 so i mean 47 from 32 is not much of a drop because of how many new games come out and how many games slide up this is just it's so elegant and it feels like such a classic game it's one of those where you play a card from your hand and you do it when it comes back to your turn you can either keep playing cards or pull back all the cards that you have played back into your hand so you create a really satisfying little loop with the cards that you're playing the cards are intrinsically tied to the victory points at the end of the game too so you want to keep buying more of them not just so you can have really you know really good uh cycles of of actions but because you need to because they're points you know they're they're going to multiply what you do on the board what you do on the board is going to dictate your income and just your control of the your majority of these different areas and stuff it is a game that i don't know it's i think most people could enjoy it could really really enjoy it because of how smooth it is for a heavier game if you're looking to say like i want to play something that's i want to push past ticket to ride in those weight of games i want to go to something that's like heavy this is a good first step because it feels familiar but has a lot of really meaningful decisions i really love the positive interaction of flipping over the resource tiles and then like flipping them back over and getting money and stuff like that's just it's so cool yeah the things you do can also benefit other two people at the table so they're engaged when it's your turn and look at that cover what do you think that cover come out i i saw the cover yeah grapes this is the best cover that they've ever had for it the first printings were awful um i've heard amazing things about concordia i know it's ranked extremely highly but i've never actually played the game have you ever wanted to play the game i mean the fact that people have said a lot of good things about it made me want to play it and just to see the action selection in it that's what everybody always talks about you like century spice road right like that that card selection thing is the same as this game isn't that your game yeah that's why i hear people say it a lot they're like oh this is my concordia i'm like oh i've never played so sort of yeah but i mean anyway it's a very different game but yeah that basic section awesome nice all right 47 concordia 47 another crossover i did not expect so many crossovers with you but it's it's really interesting yeah this is cool she thinks you have that i don't know what it is right specific crossovers i guess like one specific genre i don't like auctions and we do like we do like seven wonders architect oh yes i really like this i think it's a really smooth play it's a really quick play as you were saying i like that that the options if you have two decks that you can pull from you know whatever is between you and the people on your right and your left and um and you're also trying to balance those decks as well because if you keep going if all the juicy ones keep coming out over on the right and you keep going well when that deck has run out you then only have one option well you can always you know draw from the middle as well you know so you're also kind of gauging that um i like the little bit of i i i hesitate to call it asymmetry because it's so little asymmetry but each of the different they're not factions but we're gonna go with factions um that you're each building a pyramid and it's a little bit different of the benefits that you'll get as you as you turn it over as you build it up um and so i really like this is it simple you can pick it up quick and i think that's kind of where we're crossing over is in like our lighter selection so you know i think that's that's where we're gonna except for one exception today but um but yeah we will have what anyways seven wonders architects sorry this is spoilers this is wildly close to being on my list really yeah i really like it 100.5 cool 100.5 it's like a radio station no i don't know it would it would be close to the top yeah so yeah so seven wonders arches hack i really really enjoyed it smooth it's simple it's quick but it has some interesting decision making i think nice awesome all right my number 47 is another chem phillips game i didn't realize i put these so close together but this is raiders of the north sea by himself and this was the first this was the first game of his that i played and once again it does really cool stuff with work replacement so how this works is that you have three different colors of workers but everybody shares those and they have basically different weights and different things that they can do and you place a worker in an empty space you take that action and then you pick up a worker from another space and you take that action both of them are based on the colors of the workers and so you're like oh i'm going to get provisions because i'm putting down this black piece and then i'm going to get money and because i picked up a white piece or whatever it is and then once you've like built up your ship and you've got all these vikings in it and you're all prepared you go out and you raid and so the the place is closer to you don't have to go so far they usually cost less they're lower reward lower costs but it kind of gets your feet wet rating you know doing a little pillaging and killing it's my first day as you get stronger and you get more dudes in your ship and you just are able to do more more resources you can go out farther and you can do more battles but it's so euro-y in the way that like you battle you're just like okay i complete this and i roll a die and oh yep i got enough it's just it's very simple the die is not going to like make or break it for you or at least not for me which i appreciate because there's a lot of dice games where you there's combat and stuff that that is really frustrating to me but yeah it's so minimal in this game yeah it's so minimal um but yeah i just i love that worker placement mechanism and i just blew my mind when i first experienced it definitely the game the first one that made us like really really like uh the miko's artwork and just kind of yeah i mean so between the hard the production the company designers yeah this is definitely a winner for me so that's my number 47 is raiders of the north sea my number 47 is western legends this is a sandbox style um western game where you're running around going out there it is very sandbox there's a lot of a lot of beige there actually yeah um but you're going around trying to do all sorts of different ways there's different ways to gain points in this game you can go collect gold you can go out there and beat up bandits it also has like this little morality system of whether you want to be a like sheriff like marshall type character and take out bandits or you want to go around robbing things and um have your like infamy and villainy go up on it and you get more points if you're being bad guy but then somebody the sheriff is going to chase you down and beat you up on that sort of thing or the other players might do so um but yeah it's a fun game you can also like wrangle cattle and things like that um it's a blast to play and i just really enjoy games like this that allow you to have all sorts of different ways to kind of like approach the game it's like oh well how's the best way for me to get points currently in the game should i go gamble and try to get more money here should i upgrade my weapons and then go try to blast bandits you know there's all sorts of different varieties of ways you can approach it so i really enjoy games that give you that option you know and you run around a map and you feel like you're that character you know do you think this is a game i would enjoy um did you you played xayah with me right yeah so it's it's kind of got a little bit of that feel it's not as like broad scoping as that sort of game but i think i think as long as you don't mind too much about like oh i wrote a die and didn't get the amount of gold i wanted this time maybe i'll try again just next turn and roll the die again you know okay um so but it's like one of those games you have to try to be opportunistic with what's currently on the board so yeah i enjoy it a lot and it gives you that that flair i wish there were more games in this genre of game do you like western um i i enjoy the theme but it's not a theme that i like go out of my way to like chase after normally so and that's this game is just fun in the fact that it kind of brings that to life a little bit but black holes that's the thing that roy gravitates towards but you added some steampunk turn off the stream [Music] all right my number 46 is a crossover with tom with camilla and at the same exact number with mike delicio mike what what would it be do you remember offhand what your number 46 game was i do what was it aquatic aquatica mike is correct it also helps that he's running the powerpoint so he knows what the next slide is to be very clear he did not know if you asked me in a week like was your 72 who cares yes me like now with my 72 christians aquatica is an awesome card game about booping and bopping and sliding up the tracks and the zippity zaps and this and the stingrays and the stingrays i think that's how you described it camilla and i completely agree with her her assessment of it yeah i love that there's so many different types of resources you can conquer your regions or you can purchase them within you know money and influence and stuff and uh but just sliding those cards up your little player board thing when it was first taught to me i thought this sounds like a gimmick could be a good gimmick maybe but it's it's fantastic it's integral to the game and the the engine that you're growing and i really like it does the same kind of a concordia type thing actually you play the cards out until you want to reset and you pick them back up and so i tend to like that mechanism first time i've been interested in concordia oh okay thank you for that yeah no i mean it's absolutely you're very welcome you should play concordia uh it's it doesn't have the booping and the bopping that aquatica does but aquatic is great my number 46. nice pick very good very very good my number 46 is i'm going to guess never going to be a crossover with anybody is a it's a little game called butterfly um in butterfly it's another grid game where on this grid you have all these little tokens which represents different things that you're going to find in this meadow and you have the most adorable little hedgehog hog his name is hudson not just in my game like in the rulebook his name is hudson and hudson can only move in three directions forward right or left and you can move him as far as you want in that direction and so the game continues up until you have no legal move left left okay no legal move left meaning he can't move one of those three directions and land and take a tile right so so you're going through and so one player will go and they'll move as far as they want in one of those three directions and collect that tile each tile has some different benefit you know so maybe on if it's and i'm totally going to mess with sucks i don't remember which one we'll say the grasshoppers you only score the highest grasshopper you get and another one you're going to score the lowest one you get and another one you know the flowers are multiple so you know they exponentially get the more you have of them they're going to get more valuable stuff like that so you're kind of have these different strategies of how you're going to again maximize those points but also if i move him here and i get this which is really going to help me but what am i setting up the next player to get you know because then hudson's right next to this really juicy one and they're going for the grasshopper avoid the beast right and so right because are we have you played this no i just looked at the board oh my god negative points i'm so proud of you so i really enjoy this i think it's it's stinky enough again quick enough cute enough you actually might like this again this might be one of those light you know kind of quick quick quick crossover this sounds really good is that what you're saying yeah go quickly yeah um yes and my number 46 is butterfly i think it is a grossly underrepresented game disgustingly yes yeah absolutely vomit inducingly underrated yes i'd like to try i really would okay i'll think about it okay she's considering very cool my number 46 is rajas of the ganges this is a dice placement game that is super cool the board is really busy and i remember looking at him being like oh my gosh i'll never know what's on i will never know what's going on in this board but it's really awesome this was the first time that i ever saw the concept of your victory point like the game ends when the victory points on both sides cross so you have like a money side and you have a fans side and the fans are bigger so you move farther along than the tiny little money spaces but they're a little harder to get and so once it crosses it doesn't matter whether it crosses close to the fans or close the money that's what triggers the end game and the person that is like the farthest crossed wins so okay it's it's very arc nova ish in that way no arc nova is rajasi yeah that mechanism um but i think that that's super cool also i really enjoy the dice placement of this there's ways that you can change the color of the dye if you want something different that river track is really awesome because you're just moving along and getting tons of stuff and get more worker like there's just so many things that you can do and i just i really enjoy a lot of what's going on in this game and it's awesome also don't be intimidated by the board because it it all makes sense it's busy it's really busy like there's basically like three action spots in a river yeah there's not it's not that much why do they make it so busy because cool themes because zero come on yeah let's make it look nice icons as much as possible that's nice yeah so much going on so that's my number 46 raja's at the ganges my 46 is a crossover with somebody during this segment and i think it will be a four-way crossover and this is gizmos which camilla just gizmos is a blast to play i love the engine building in this game i love being able to grab those little marbles and try to build out the cool different things to convert marbles and be able to let you pick again and as this game progresses it's just so satisfying to have those turns where it's like and i build this which allows me to pick and then i lifted one for the top and then i could do this and i converted this into that and just being able to do all those things back to back is just a blast and i've really enjoyed playing this game and figuring out ways to make that engine really efficient i've taught this game to a whole bunch of different people and it's been really fun this is one of my go-to's like at conventions and be like oh have you played gizmos yet i'll bring ghostbusters have you played this yet do you have 30 minutes fantastic it's really easy to teach and it's really easy to hit the table and it's just very tactile like you said like just getting those marbles and throwing them back in the top and like seeing them come out being like oh i want to grab that one you know it's just really fun yeah i think part of the reason i like it is because it's easy to teach wrong you know if people are not like like let me explain to you like hold on it's really it is really simple but you can kind of get caught up in the weeds yeah so just teach the actions and then kind of show them how the iconography works on the cards a little bit and it's like because you can pick this and then if you can pick then you can do that you build that then you can pick again you know there's nothing that definitely would not confuse somebody i've i've had great success teaching this game and it's been a ton of fun so yeah so my 46 gizmos [Music] i've had to switch sheets i will very low key yeah dispose of the previous one those games are dead to me we are now moving on to 45. this is a crossover with one wendelin yee that's not actually your name official name from now onward from now on you will forever be known yes gwendolyn uh was very wise when she chose crusaders that will be done i think this is just last segment right it might have been let's see you don't like that what's wrong with that coverage i like the aggressive nature of the one at the bottom all right i don't despise because it was two two movies two movies two movies ago yeah two videos ago okay two two segments ago you're close to being correct no crusaders that will be done is it's excellent as one described it's a mancala game right however many little mancala pieces are in an action space is how strong it is you move it around so once an action space is super juicy and strong it just distributes all over you're like ah where's my big action but i feel like no matter what you're never more than one turn away from having another turn that feels amazing like sometimes you'll have like a turn that's like okay i'll just move a few spaces kind of get in position and the next turn i'm going to do a huge build you can also upgrade those action wedges on your board so that you can you can attack someone who's already there and then build in their spot in the same turn you can move and attack in the same turn there's so much that this game does right and like i said plays in almost every time i've ever played it two three four players like 45 minutes oh nice it fits so much in such a short time i absolutely love it uh tasty mint troll was the original publisher and so now renegade is picking it up and they're also going to publish an expansion that i'm very interested in i feel like i should play this it looks it looks good honestly i think the theme works for it yeah it's area control right so it's gonna kind of yeah area majority or area control not really i mean you're building buildings you're moving around the map to be able to have more spaces to build up buildings but as you said before right the the buildings you build out also strengthen your actions like everything makes you better and it feels incredible hey chris say i want to play crusaders i want to play crusaders i will be done good job wendlandt we're a package deal got a deal with us my number 45 is i think quite possibly my last roll right uh it is like are you sure this is in the top 50. what i know yes we did it just to spite you we actually arranged it yeah i flushed it slipped like a 20 and he redid this show you've been doing that the whole time right mike my number four i think my original my first role in right that i played as well and it is welcome to i love this game and that's why i asked you like which is your favorite map you know because i really enjoy the different variability that can come with it um but it is just very finky yet smooth and quick and i i really like roland rights where it's like everybody has the same information that they're dealing with and just who does it the best you know what i mean and i think what i really like about welcome to is it's a game that yes it's a roll right and it has that um random randomness of you know what cards come out and how you combo and you've set yourself up well or not who knows you know but but you can actually get better at this game you know it is a skill to be good at this game i think you know and so i can definitely look back over my scores and like wow i've definitely gotten better and but yet it's still really quick really easy really really simple to get into it's it's one of my go-to's i play a lot of rolling rights like last thing before bed you know sitting in bed and this is probably one that i've i've taken it on trips with me and you can play it you know in a hotel room and it's just it's really good i know it's the original i haven't played the las vegas one i have played the moon one but uh this welcome to with the different map not maps i guess the different themes um i always go to i love the christmas lights how often do you name your city oh every time ever do you name it like dorky different things oh absolutely yeah absolutely something stupid every single day welcome to murder town so much pressure murder town to name it right blood last time welcome to was mentioned someone asked i personally don't like the vegas one that much that's what i think it adds complexity without making it any more fun so i prefer the basic one but the moon one is is really interesting because every map changes and i need to play that one like oh we've talked about talked it to death you know that that first play was not good it like it was it was weird so i think i need to play more into it in order to get that welcome to feel but it was it was my first play was rather sloppy um of that one so i need to be i love welcome to and i love the different maps and i get so excited for a new season because it's like i hold myself accountable it's like i'm not playing christmas until christmas season so i just like getting excited about each different one it's like it's time i can do halloween you know i get really excited about it and it's you know it's halloween numbers i can do it yeah right so it's a lot of fun so yeah my number 55 45. welcome too that's awesome oh i moved my list because i was looking at previous stuff my number 45 is clans of caledonia i think i referenced this a while ago did you did you it was on yours that's what it was yeah i really like this economic game so you are you're pulling pieces off your board and those reveal stuff and then you get you know more income and and whatever um and i really enjoy that idea of like as i put stuff out on the map i get more it's great it's wonderful but also the the supply and demand that's what i want the supply and demand board that as i sell things i get i can sell them at a higher price but then it tanks the price so if i sell you know a bunch of my um what do you call those yarn or like balls of yarn or something like that my wool before chris does hahaha i get all this money and then chris can now buy them for cheap unless he was trying to sell them then it's great then it's hahaha so i really and i really enjoy that i love the way that you move around on the map there's lots of different um possibilities there and there's just really cool thinky thinky stuff it's it's a lot it's a good game that's all i'm saying it's a really good game yeah it's my number 45 clans of caledonia but god agree with you i got you you got to i got it on your list it's now mandatory nice my 45 is a big giant epic game that some people would even call essential like mike would call it that so it's a big epic not a tiny epic it is a gigantic epic this is cthulhu wars this is a big game that basically it's like another big area control game but you're all playing different elder gods like cosmic horror sort of things and you're trying to build up the different areas and basically complete different objectives on your board to unlock special powers with your god so it's all about trying to figure out how to utilize your action points this has a very similar like action point system to the rage system and blood rage um where you're actually like using those points to be able to put different units out and be able to move your guys around but then you can also trigger combats and then have combats fighting off against different things the gods all feel very different there's tons and tons and tons of different expansions for this game um but which add all sorts of different gods and different craziness and different different things that you can have in your giant game of catholic wars and this has some of the biggest miniatures in like any board game you know they're huge i remember when like i looked at this and i thought okay board games can't get any more extravagant than that yeah and now welcome to kickstarter in 2022 it's huge it's gigantic but it's a lot of fun to play and it looks way more complex than it is it really isn't that complex of a game it's mostly just taking actions to be taking using action points to be able to put stuff out on the board and try to figure out how to maneuver your characters in the correct way to to unlock those powers um but it's a lot of fun i really enjoy cthulhu wars and that's why it's all the way up at my number 45. essential [Music] all right my number 44. we're gonna give phil walker harding in the entire country of australia some more love apparently because my number 44 is barron park oh this is my i think this is my favorite polyamino game i should just start saying this is my favorite polyamino game and if you know two videos from now i'm wrong who cares i've never done anything like that before yeah but this is definitely my favorite polyamory i love it you're you're trying to fit these tiles of different shapes onto your board they all a lot of them represent exhibits of different types of bears and so those stacks become worth fewer points as you let them go by so you're trying to i want to get the most polar bears in here i want to get a bunch of them but also should i get them quicker or should i you know should i try and get three of a kind of polar bears for a little bonus point or should i grab like the top tiles of multiple different kinds of bears to just maximize the points there i love i love just the puzzle of it i love putting the pieces all together and then when you complete a whole little square you get a bear statue which is also worth like decreasing amounts of points so you're like i want to get those first it's like five different things you're racing for all in a polyamido game that's very adorable the polar bears have penguins in the exhibit and so really this should be higher on my list for the penguins alone but my number 44 baron park it's a game i love love love love absolutely yeah yep awesome and my number 44 is another small game it is herbaceous herbaceous it is right yes make sure it's on the right one um in herbaceous you have uh on your turn you're going to draw a card and put a card in a communal pile um and and and you're trying to do a set collection of collecting different herbs in order to put them in your pots and harvest them and get points already i think that what this one does is brings a really interesting is not quite push your luck i guess kind of mechanism where it's like you have that choice am i going to you draw a card and you see it's like okay i want this one but i really want this other card so i'd put this in communal which i know they're going for and hope that i get the one i really want or do i just go ahead and take this because it's a safe bet and i'm not putting the communal you know so it has kind of that um cascading decision making i guess you know it's kind of it's like you're not just thinking about you but what other people are doing as well as how can you get maximize the points without pushing too far and giving more away and end up with something that's not worth very much at all because you push too far you know so it's not pusher looking like you bust necessarily but it is kind of that decision making the same decision making space in it i find it very this is one of my really relaxing ones that i that i enjoy that it's just fun every time i play it's relaxing it gives you that good decision making space while still being light and quick and very very limited decisions you're doing but a lot of depth to those decisions and kind of that cascading effect perhaps so number 44 herbaceous you and your plant games i know it's a steve finn game so stephen has doctor finn games and also i think when he works with this group it's pencil first or something like that so okay so he makes a lot of good he does a lot of that's the same thing as mining colony same guy yeah oh nice awesome yeah awesome my number 44 is a game that i feel like is kind of underrated and this is reef it looks like a kids game it's got these cute chunky pieces that you're stacking up like it just it looks like you're going to play duplos with your child um but it's not and this is what i really enjoy about the game so you're you are you can take cards from the lineup and what every card does is it places pieces on your board you can choo it tells you what colors and you can choose where to put them and then at the bottom it has some sort of scoring effect and that scoring effect usually has nothing to do with the pieces that you're placing they're pieces that you've placed before and so what i love about it is i love that you can have like three cards in your hand and you're trying to plan out this perfect order of okay i can put down two purple pieces which will give me two four level towers with purple on top but i'm not going to score that for another two cards so i've got to leave that there while i plan for my next card which is going to be two oranges and i'm like oh i get to score that twice and i get eight points like there's just so much about like kind of i don't know i feel like i'm flying by the seat of my pants as i'm like strategizing in this game and there's something about it that i just i love so much it's great i agree with you i think it's super underrated i really enjoyed this game i think it's a lot of fun sanderson matsuchi super clean design very easy very huge very high just i love it absolutely love it that's my number 44 is reef both this and gizmos wendy always demolishes me this one's fun because like it's really cool when like a scoring card comes up that's something that you have something similar to and then you see another scoring card you're like i do that one time being able to combo those things together and build your your reef out the way you want you to be able to get the point it's a lot of fun it's a really good pick my number 44 i solely blame on one person for it being this high and that is ruthie my girlfriend because we play it every time we do a con or or we put i take it home from the library and just play and this is five minute marvel i love five minute dungeon and when you take marvel and add that to five minute dungeon it's a blast this is a real-time game where you're playing out all these cards as fast as you can to try to defeat minions and bosses and be able to take stuff out and you're working cooperatively as a team yelling at each other who has a job who has a punch card who's gonna play it yeah you only have five minutes to race through all this stuff it's really cool with the app like acts like it's jarvis and stuff like that so it has that thematic flair to it as well and with this one you have all the different superheroes that kind of have different powers and things like that that can kind of have a little bit of theme there as well they have their own deck and then there's also a big deck that you draw out of too i've had a blast playing five minute marvel it's a really quick playing game it's one of those games that you can't play just once you know right play through then you play it again it's like harder boss let's see if we can do it let's see if we can beat that this time it's it's really exciting and a blast to play yeah i think i taught ruthie this one and at a convention and we played it three times yeah it was like we played it once and then she's like oh i want to play it again played it again she's like i want to play it again so we can record it and so then she recorded it and did this like fast play through and it was like three or four times i think we ended up playing it several more times during the same dice our retreat and then we on the cruise we played a bunch of times and then we also i think the kids a little bit older because i think that you kind of like modify the rules a little bit for your kid you know so as she gets older yeah that's one i'm looking forward to playing i definitely either you know don't use as big of a deck but you have to make it a little bit easier i don't play with the timer you know something like that to modify it which is kind of cool because it can be so easily modified because it's such a simple game yeah you know yeah for sure yeah it's really cool five minutes marvel my number 44. [Music] my number 43 has been talked about before i believe uh by wendy this game is called glory to rome this is oh what a beautiful i mean just look how stunning the cards are in this game look at it oh yeah this is a tablecloth that's like a simultaneously underwhelming and overwhelming like i cannot process this right i tell you as much as is it's easy to make fun of the look of this game it is incredibly functional because every not every card but there's there's dozens and dozens and dozens of unique cards and there's just a few copies of each side so i shouldn't have used the word unique but uh you know whatever get over it pet ants um but the idea that each card has wildly swinging different effects when you build them is really cool so part way through the game even though we all start pretty much the same now i have just a huge hand of cards i can hold on to and none of you can but every time that a purple's in the middle of the board you can just directly build it which is ludicrous you know everyone gets so strong and weird it's a fantastic multi-use card game the it has a weird flowchart of how it works but with a good teach it's a really smooth game so i love gloria to rome unfortunately extremely difficult to find fortunately in the dice tower library so come on by and chris will teach it my number 43 i have these two to blame for so thank you yes and it follows along thing what you were saying earlier you're really liking those complex cooperative like deep cooperative games and it is co2 second chance ooh second chance you all taught us this and um they have a lacerta game on your list i know i almost had two laserdada games i know who are you what are you doing camilla what i'm just kidding hey guys guess how many story games i have on my list guess how many certain games i've played chris chris is i will teach you on mars one day i would love to do that yeah that's cool um in co2 you are so i only play the cooperative one i have zero interest in playing the semi co-op or competitive whatever version it is i have zero interest so i'm just gonna talk about the cooperative because i want to so in this you are ceos of of companies who are trying to build different factories but also trying to different energy efficient factories um and but also trying to manage the co2 and the carbon emissions of the atmosphere and not letting it get out of control and what i really like about this is it it takes that process of you know we want to build this energy efficient factory but you have to go through certain steps you know you have to first get the permit and then you have the foundation and they have to you know and so it's this step-by-step process which really pushes that cooperation in order to be able to get get it all done in time you know like maybe one person will get the permit and then one person will do the structure and then one person will actually man the building you know so it's a layered process that you have to go through and so again it's it's complex things that have to be done that requires cooperation you're not a lot of cooperation a lot of communication um and planning ahead yes exactly planning ahead but it's possible at the same time you know what i mean um i i think you know the place that we've done we've won the game you know you just really have to to plan ahead and have that good communication with it um and so i really really enjoy that it's it's i mean that's if you want a cooperation i think i i like my cooperative games to be heavier and more in-depth but really have that cooperation cooperation requirement right yeah yeah and that is how this is it is it is absolutely required um so yeah i really enjoyed this um my number 43 co2 second chance i remember in the first video or whenever you talked about meepo land you said chris this is the highest rated game of mine that you taught me and i thought that's awesome i made the list and then i realized i'm in the 90s but he has been in the 40s we you guys are so nice i'm in the 40s baby we're really good at cooperating okay yeah well we're a team no i'm done life is heavy cooperation thank you very much okay number 43 is seven wonders this is a good old game this this was like the fourth gamer game that i think i played so like katan munchkin they were both okay really gotten dominion and then we ran out of dominion expansions for chris's mom to buy for like birthdays and holidays and all this such and so this was what happened because we got seven wonders and the real book was was thick and it was difficult and whatever but we've figured it out as new gamers and mostly watching i think rodney right was it rodney yeah it was the first time we were i was like yeah i can't figure out this rule book maybe the internet will show me how to play a game the internet that's exciting and so i went to youtube.com and i found this channel called watch it play this was like a decade ago when we played this game for the first time it's amazing absolutely amazing but 10 wonders it's a drafting game it it plays at seven and it plays quickly and it plays cleanly there's a lot of iconography but once you get it you got it it's good you're just building out cards every round you pay a cost if there's a cost if not you get it for free you're increasing your resources there's a little bit of interaction with buying resources from other people using that money ah slightly slight wars going on and stuff like that but it's so clean it's so smooth and it's one of those that if you go to a con a lot of people have played it so you can play a game of a lot of people and just kind of like make it go fast but also if someone hasn't it's okay they can learn it really quickly and i just i love it super clean super awesome seven wonders 43. awesome choice i mean it was on my list so i have to agree i like seven wonders it's fun cooperate with me with your drafting but next cross over with me i'm calling it up terrible pic i went with the dual version um so uh for my 43 here this is my highest abstract game also my only abstract game this is onitama i love onitama i really enjoy the way this game plays i played it a ton on the app i played the physical version this is a game that like during like waiting for meals to come like i'll pull out the app and play it with my kids i've played it in line while waiting at an amusement park with my girlfriend it's just a blast to play this game and i just really like the way it works it's very chess-like as you're trying to figure out how to move your different pieces in different ways but the trick is that the cards move back and forth in between the players so you're trying to like maybe hold on to a card that allows you to move forward too so that way the other player can't do it but when you use it oh now they're gonna be able to use it on their next turn um so it has that back and forth and it's all about trying to either knock out their sensei or master or whatever or get your master onto their starting space of where their master starts and it's a very quick fast playing game and i've had a blast playing it onitama it's just really simple and really fun and the fact that those movement cards change out each game makes it different every time you play you know so you have a different variety of it i've heard this game compared to chess a lot which can kind of pull you away from it right because well i mean let's say hypothetically somebody despised chess right would you recommend this game to them i would say try it especially because it's so easy to play yeah i don't like chess and i was i was fine playing this is every time someone explains it's like oh i respect your opinion i'm interested and then they say chess and i'm like it's just because or it gives you that feel because chess pieces move certain ways this has pieces that move certainly lots of games have pieces that move certain ways but that's the comparison i always say chess but in chess like you're static of what your moves are and this it just flows back and forth and there's that decision space of like i don't want to give up this move yet you know which is kind of interesting yeah no piece has a fixed movement it's just on the cards that you have so i i because wendy and i don't really play a lot of abstract games and this is one that we have fun with yeah like i think that you would look at and say oh this is this is cool like 10 out of 10 times i'm going to play an abstract game it might be this one like i basically don't like abstracts i i agree with you i don't like abstracts i don't like chess i give it like a three in our review i really enjoy onitama that's true so i at least gave it a four years i think yeah okay this is not my favorite but i'm fine i'm pretty sure every exception to it i'm pretty sure about the people in chess i played you and beat you and you for sure won against me yeah that was you know it is what it is i love onitama it's a lot of fun my 43 [Music] my number 42 is beige it's so so big but by the end of this year or sometime next year it won't be so beige because it's getting a deluxey reprint oh it smells extremely deluxe his hair's getting direct quite white like obscenely deluxe i've seen lee deluxe they took it all the beige for better or worse my number 42 is a game called legranja the granaha is i've already said many times here that i really love multi-use cards and this is a mix of dice drafting with multi-use cards so you get fantastic abilities if you tuck them under the bottom of your player board or that same card that's really great as an ability you can talk into the top and it's a contract to fulfill or you can tuck it on the left and it increases your farm and gives you more resources at the start of every turn or you can tuck it on the right and it gives you the special abilities you can deliver and fulfill more contracts with it i love that i love diced drafting i love the little bit of area control on the middle of the board this is one of those games that is mechanism stew right it's it's just a lot of things kind of put together but it's the right mix it's the right concoction that recipe can go wrong but when it comes out right it's so good and this is one of those examples and so this is uh it's like dumbo yeah it's like a gumbo as opposed to gumbo because a bad gumbo is not good exactly this is good gumbo legrand huh good gumbo uh but more butter more butter more butter more better when are you cooking for us camilla i've made gumbo in a while yeah yeah i'm looking forward to the to the new reprint the new artwork and the new like overhaul because it looks like it should be really nice i hope it's just as usable because that's the thing about like ugly games like this is usually the function over form yes so i hope it stays that way you taught this to me on board game arena so i haven't played like a physical copy of it and i think i think that i liked the mechanisms but i a physical copy i think would win me over for this so i should probably try it in real life i don't play together on board game arena when you live together yeah yeah when we did when you lived together they couldn't stand yeah they couldn't stand being in the same room so they just went in opposite rooms and play games yeah they're games we didn't own and we weren't going to our board game cafe you know during all the walk down so we're like all right that's fair oh okay this will work that's all interesting interesting okay my number 42 judgment oh absolutely yeah oh i was was i too subtle my number 42 is i believe a crossover with mike um he'll holler at me if not yes oh yeah oh yeah it is merchant's cove [Laughter] was this on your list do you remember mike very high you don't know the exact number uh like in the top five touch your disappointment you are all right um number 42 is merchant's code it has the micho art so you know i'm like right there 50 already um but what i really love about merchants cove is there's something for everyone in this game you know because you have your different players and they all play differently and there are some that are a little more complex but i don't think any of them are like spirit island brain burners you know what i mean i mean i think a general player could play most of the the individuals um the individual merchants so unless you are a merchant and you are trying to create goods both large and small um most characters are large and small but there's a couple exceptions to that but you're trying to create these in order to as people are coming in off the ships in order to sell your goods to them and you're trying to you're also filling those ships at the same time so i really like that element of your as you draw the meeples out and you're signing them in a boat that's going to come in and so you want to try oh it's a red and i have a lot of red small small items so i want to put the red over here so i can have the most the most reds in order to sell the goods so so you have kind of this balance as well between what your individual character can do which is very different than everyone else's character but then you also have this communal board which you are working opposingly together on you know like like you're opposing and maybe you have something but you see they're going for something big and so oh hey if i go for a red big as well we'll both kind of be putting it in here so you're trying to like tag along with others decisions but also do it better than them and i think that creates an interesting dynamic so i really enjoy merchants cove i think i think that balance of the two parts to the game your individual part but also the cool not cooperative the um communal part on the main board is really really well done in this so i very much enjoy merchants cove nice thanks sean for the super chat ooh thank you i appreciate that all right my number loves your nature and murder pics oh that was for me i had oh i missed i was too excited about merchant's cove fantastic good stuff nature and murder they go hand in hand they do nature pretty much it's just something right nature is murder it's just serene murder i naturally murdered you with the people natural causes step out i'll see you next week see what happens 42 is a crossover with chris this is ground floor this is a really cool economic game i like it i like it a lot um in this game you've got a bunch of different action they almost i don't know how you explain it but it's almost kind of like mini games like you're working to auction off certain goods that you're trying to sell but then other goods you're pricing and you're trying to out price other people you're also trying to work with your popularity and you get money if other people bump you out but you don't get other stuff if there's just so much going on in this game that's really cool and the skyscrapers are awesome and i know chris explained most of this stuff already but it just it's really such a great game good good solid stuff i don't know what else i can add i made a promise that i was going to disagree with your next crossover so what a foolish pick i like it less now well this is this this is a game and it's one of those that had to grow on me a little bit but when it did and they finally clicked i was like oh this clicked i really enjoy this so ground floor is my number 42. nice that's awesome my number 42 is the answer to everything and that is century golem edition i don't know but it's attacking everything are we hitchhiking across the galaxy i was trying to be i really enjoy century uh spice road and gome edition i just like this version better because it's pretty even though my spice version i made little resin cubes that have spices inside of them um but yeah i really enjoy century just the the fact of like gaining these different uh resources or different crystals and then upgrading those as the game goes along to be able to control these different golems and being able to just the combos that you have in this game and like you said with the same sort of action system of where you have those cards in hand that you play them out and then you refresh and they come back into your hand and trying to figure out the right timing of all that stuff and trying to figure out how you can gain the golems that are going to give you the most points and kind of like maximize that um i just really enjoy this game it's extremely like simple and straightforward but i've had a blast playing century this is another one of those games that i love to bring out at conventions just be like have you played century yet most people have but i still really enjoy playing century and it's a blast to play was the years go by fewer people will have too you know right yeah so it's it's worth still playing absolutely yeah and it's a great game it's like like you had an another emerson game with wreath this is the one that i really like as far as his euro style stuff goes so century's a blast so and i just played vanilla century so it's good vanilla so [Music] you got cancelled um i'm just gonna do a quick scan here indeed this is my highest roll and right game on the list roy i had to disappoint you had to close out with a whimper my number 41 is a fantastic game called rolled west i had gold west on my list a little bit higher up and that's one of those games if i if i played a little bit more you know more recently it could probably move up but rolled west is so easy to get to the table this is one that one did i really enjoy playing together i enjoy teaching it to people who are you know more into heavier euro games i've always had success with this one because it's a very very simplified you know very simplified kind of a version of a game you're trying to get different resources by rolling those very cool gold nugget looking dice at least they're d12s they're really cool because yeah copper is more represented than gold and stuff right but you want to either move along the tracks on the bottom you want to either sell lots of the same type of gold fulfill contracts or in the top left of one of those player sheets are is the town hall area or whatever it's called where you can basically get special unique scoring objectives that nobody else can get and if you you trade in the resources to get it everybody else has to cross it out on their sheet so it over the course of the game you become more unique from each other i love that in games i think this is a really fantastic roland right game uh i don't know it's just one that i already see in the chat chastising me yeah it just didn't speak to him and for some reason it's spoken to me and a lot of people that i really like it too yeah it's my favorite roll right game so number 41 rolid i think z is wrong i think that's what this this consensus means my number 41 is a very big surprise to me playing this game um i held off on playing this game is recommended like four times and i felt really rude saying no a fifth time so i sucked it up and played it and i accidentally made it onto 41 i accidentally made it to 41. i like this game and chris it is my beige train game that's right we were waiting yes you were waiting i kept you in super suspense right yeah it is called i just give the whole title here first class all aboard the orient express i need to play this one i've told you multiple times you need to play this game ask me five times no you only get four all right um so yeah in first class in first class all aboard the orient express first class you are there is a a open draft system in this as well which i think is obvious by now i'm a big fan of there's an open draft and each of those cards that you're drafting as you go around has a special id or special action that you can take which are very very limited in this game and you're trying to you have your own train and your trained line and so you're either extending your trained line to be able to combo together different abilities and get more resource resources and more actions and stuff like that or you're actually building out your trained car building it upgrading it attracting certain guests things like that and so so you have this great combo system as you're managing both the line and the actual train but also the drafting system of you know it's random what comes out and again that kind of that like knowing your neighbors and pushing your luck like i really want both of these balance of which one do i really want will it be there will it not do i take the one i really really want but leave this one that's probably long-term goal versus short-term goal and so just a really interesting that draft with the two different boards or the two different areas of managing your train and upgrading your train it gives a lot of different paths to victory that you're trying to kind of trying to do all but you know do i trying to go heavy in one thing or do i balance and do a little bit of everything i just think again that decision space is really good in this one which overcomes both the train aspect and overcomes the beige and it is just fantastic and again it's a lot of those decisions but clear cut you know and i think you can still win by just doing one of them which makes it a little bit more accessible i also think it's like super out of print because i've tried to find a copy multiple times and just gave up so so again like wildly out of print but come to our convention and i will absolutely play this the first time you ask wow i know absolutely i like that you're still being nice like with wednesday night you're just like yeah these pics will never be on there and you're with camila like oh yeah wow combo cool huh you're pretending to be interested i'm just looking at you because she said me and max she's like it's a card you want you really really want and i looked at you like are we going to make a spicy girl's joke spicy girls too if you if you had chosen spice road we would have there you go there you go yeah so a great decision space in this and um yeah i really like it first class i really gotta try it yeah you should spice girls really really good and if it ever calls from the library dibs okay now we know all right my number 41 is not beige it is actually really pretty and it is uh what's it called sagrada so secrata this is all about making this lovely stained glass you have a little board that has you have to put certain colors and certain numbers in spaces and you get to puzzle that out and you do so by drafting these little tiny dice these little rainbow dice um it's like a forward backwards draft and i really feel like i'm going to get hit i'm just going to throw them like three times camilla draft so yeah it's it it's just it's a very pretty game i really love the puzzle also you can't see but above the stained glass that you're making is a little stained glass on top of it and those player pieces are beautiful there's also a few little special powers and things that you can you can spend tokens for and maybe move some dice around and do some stuff but there you go that's a beautiful beautiful picture there i just i love it it's clean it's stinky it's a very welcoming game um and it came out around the same time as azul and i would pick this over as well any day they get compared a lot they do i think just because the the piece is in the general theme yeah love it my number 41. it also has a brutal solo mode it's fun i've not played it solo yep that's sagrada number 41 my number 41 is almost like almost an activity more than a game and it's very story driven and this is tales of the arabian nights i love this game it's basically like choose your own adventure board game but you're going through all these different arabian nights themed stories and you're trying to decide whether you want story or destiny as your two different stats that you're kind of like trying to get more of as the game goes along um but you can like gain wealth and be able to like move more and things like that but it's just crazy because you'll encounter things and you have to decide how you're going to interact with that thing you can also get different stats which will make you like better fighting or better at sailing or better at like beguiling things um so you can have like all these different things that can kind of help you inform your decisions a teeny bit um but it's still the craziest things happen in this game and the stories are wild and exciting and you kind of have to play this game with like a light heart i'm just kind of like i'm gonna see what happens to me i might get thrown in jail i might get like devoured by a sand worm or might get like jumped on by a crazy like sand demon or something in knights lots of gins lots of mermaids lots of random piratey things i don't know there's all sorts of crazy stuff entails the arabian nights and it's a blast to play i've had so much fun playing with it and it's one that you just play it for the theme and the story of it you know so it's my number 41 tales of the arabian nights nice pretty good actually gonna head for tomorrow i'm so excited about
