the place to be you got three major department stores here including takashimaya and isetan two of our favorites you'll also find thousands of stores on the ground level as well as underground Shinjuku is connected by underground tunnels which also has hundreds of shops every which way you turn this is a godsend especially when it's raining outside you can also find 100 yen stores the can-do store being our favorite located inside the Pepe building oh and don't forget to visit hands which is connected to takashimaya it's a multi-level store with everything from party supplies to Bento boxes finally the Don Quixote store in Koreatown is fun to check out you'll find lots of quirky stuff kitkats and various flavors and food stuff from around the world this donkey halter is located in Koreatown you can find all kinds of Korean Goods as well as food so it's a lot of fun so much Korean noodles here it's open 24 hours so you can visit anytime Shinjuku going is by far our favorite Park in the entire Shinjuku District it's huge and there's lots to see in fact you can literally spend an entire day here it's also one of the most popular places to see the cherry blossoms the park used to belong to a feudalore during the other period later it was converted into a Botanical Garden then transferred to the Imperial family in 1903 the Japanese garden is one of the oldest areas of the park there is even a greenhouse with plants from all over the world there are many rest areas including several cafes that serve food and refreshments definitely check space out especially if you need some quiet after all that shopping has as a Japanese garden here you can enjoy nice bowl of matcha and wagashi this is ampone a specialty of this shop it's a Monica which is a thing with wafer with Uncle was sweet as a gibbing paste and mascarpone cheese oh very new for me oh my God that is really good surprising in Paris perfectly with matcha come to Shinjuku to enjoy some of the best ramen the city has to offer Shinjuku has tons of ramen shops to choose from one of our favorites is called tatsunoya they serve a mean bullet Ramen however as you can see it's always super crowded and the lines can be an hour long so we definitely recommend going at off-peak hours alright guys we can't go to tatsuna today there's a huge line I think there's an hour away here and we have our mother with me today so I don't want her standing in hot sun but like I mentioned there are many many great ramen restaurants here in Shinjuku so we're gonna go to my second favorite ramen restaurant so today instead we decided to go to mihachi this is my favorite place for Misa Ramen in Shinjuku it's very authentic my mother got the Miso Ramen and I got that's Kevin which is a dipping Ramen which is fantastic especially on a hot day like today it's super hot today yeah that's why my mother was getting a little bit hangry that's why we had to go to the nearest Ramen Shop luckily that's one of our favorite places anyway if you are a Ramen lover Shinjuku is the place to be here is the shinjuk station New South exit this is a great place to see trains a variety of trains come and go all day long from here you can see so much and other lines if we are lucky you can see Narita Express if you like trains this place is a great place to stay all day long I love it rains it sure does he can literally hours here while he's doing that I simply buy a drink from the vending machine there's a lot of vending machines here and just sit at one of these benches and just chill out and here is an apadeck it's more quiet endless people it's a hidden spot come and say hello to Godzilla yes you can see him right behind us he's looking the entire city of Tokyo from that building right there it's located right in the middle of kabukicho the building also contains a cinema complex where you can catch a movie if you like the theater is modern and comfortable and don't worry they have popcorn that you can enjoy inside the theater but popcorn here is particularly delicious we love the caramel popcorn it's probably the best caramel popcorn you'll get in the entire city in between all the skyscrapers of Shinjuku you will find tranquil hanazono Shrine although the exact date is unknown the shrine existed in 1590 dedicated to Inari Okami the goddess of trading worldly success the shrine is popular with merchants and entertainers in the area this Shrine is peaceful except during the festivals and lets you get away from the crowds of the big city we especially like to visit here during the cherry blossom scene it's really beautiful get a bird's eye view of the city from the Tokyo Metropolitan government building there's a free Observatory right here in Shinjuku and the view is pretty spectacular located on the 45th floor of the Tokyo Metropolitan government building it's a good free alternative to Tokyo Tower and the Tokyo Skytree on a clear day you can see as far as Mount Fuji we're also able to spot our apartment building we can see a house over there [Music] it's a nice souvenir shop up here you can purchase Tokyo made products this is green tea from Tokyo this is matcha made in Tokyo roasted green tea Powder made in Tokyo and if you get tired there's a nice cafe here we can get some really good soft serve good um my mother got the vanilla so that she got the strawberry of course I got the matcha that's good stuff everyone knows this but there's a pretty big Korea Town on the edge of Shinjuku right next to kabukicho it starts there continues all the way to the next station you'll see signs written in Hangul instead of Japanese lots and lots of stores selling Korean Goods cosmetic stores and Korean groceries and of course the Korean food is pretty amazing in this part of town this is also where you'll find our favorite Don Quixote store in Shinjuku it's less congested it has wider aisles than the one in central Shinjuku this is where you can pick up all your last minute souvenirs Koreatown no longer feels like you're in Tokyo but that's what we love about this place of course we have to add one more food place try the cabbage roll at akasia it is a famous real shock place in Shinjuku they've been serving their famous cabbage rolls since 1963 and the recipe hasn't really changed in over half a century I used to come here once or twice a week when I first moved back to Japan I was obsessed with the cabbage rolls if you get one of their combos you can try some of their other dishes like the curry that Satoshi loves or the scallop cream croquette which is perfect it's sakuta on the outside is creamy tastes like scallop on the inside super super delicious definitely try this place out this is one of our top recommendations in Shinjuku all right guys finally you have to visit the brand new kabukuchu tower that just opened on April 14 2023. the new skyscraper is 53 stories high and is packed with things to
