welcome to the rundown on the red blue and brown keychron k2 switches this video is specifically about the differences and the characteristics of each switch type so if you're wondering which one you should get then this video is for you [Music] now this is not a complete feature set rundown of the kikron k2 this video is specifically about the differences within the switches but if you are unfamiliar with this keyboard then real quick it's a compact wireless bluetooth mechanical keyboard with backlighting it's compatible with windows and mac it connects up to three devices simultaneously it has a 4 000 milliamp hour built-in battery which is rechargeable with the included usbc cable it also has a two-stage adjustable tilt angle and it costs around 70 to 80 dollars us feel free to head down to the description i've posted the links for all three of these keyboards down there if you want to check them out further now let's dive right into the switches starting with the reds now all three of these keyboards are pro switches according to kikron the gator on reds are the most commonly used gator on switch they are a linear switch there's no bump or click along the way down the reds are the quietest switch out of the three that i'm testing making them a good choice if you're working around other people now right out of the box i did find the switch to be a bit hollow but it did grow on me the more that i used it the smoothness of the red switch is what i found to be most addicting but it's a little bit too empty for lack of a better word i wasn't always certain that the stroke registered and i found myself wanting a little bit more feedback here's a quick sample of what the red switches sound like now we're going to jump over to the other end of the spectrum the gateron blue switches aka the typist switch this is a clicky sounding switch the click offers great tactile feedback at the price of a high noise level and they require a little more force per keystroke i find it very satisfying to type on the blue switch they give you kind of a fun typewriter like experience [Music] the clicky feedback offers a lot of confidence and sounds really nice when you get into a rhythm but if you aren't the best typer like myself i found this to be a bit of a hindrance because once i lost my typing rhythm which i often do the typos are amplified and it can be discouraging but if you fancy yourself a typist and you really want to piss off your co-workers then go ahead and get yourself a blue switch they are a lot of fun to type on now the gatoran brown switch is right in the middle there is a small bump part way down the keystroke which offers a moderate amount of tactile feedback the brown switches are not nearly as loud as the blue and only slightly louder than the reds they truly are a good middle ground between the blues and the reds and i think that is why i'm going to stick with the browns they offer a decent feedback and are not as obnoxious to others around you here's a quick typing test of the browns now kikron has a great video on their websites showing the sounds of each switch i'll be sure to post that in the description as well if you want to go check it out now whichever switch you end up getting i highly recommend you get a wrist rest as well because this keyboard does sit quite high off the ground and only after a few minutes of typing my hands were already starting to cramp up now unfortunately kikron's wrist rest was sold out and it was going to be a long time to ship one so i ended up finding this one from glorious and it's perfect it's the perfect size perfect height and it's affordable too i'll post that description as well if you want to check it out now i did perform a typing test online to see if there's any performance difference between the three switches and there was not i was only one word per minute faster on the blue switches than i was with the other two but anyways typingtest.com is the trainer if you want to check it out it's a cool website to help you become a more proficient typer and i hope i was able to answer any questions you may have had between the differences in the switches if you do have any more questions that i did not get to please feel free to leave them down in the comments i'd be happy to get back to you and if you found this video useful i'd appreciate it if you hit the like button and maybe consider subscribing to catch future videos coming out soon okay thanks a lot for watching we'll catch you in the next one [Music]
