Interesting. I experience a different phenomenon when I cram a lot of events into a relative time period. For me, time slows down. Take two 10 year periods of your life. In one 10 year period you're doing very little. Kind of the same routine every day for a whole decade. When you look back on that 10 year period of your life all those days blend together into one. Your brain has no reason to remember them separately. So an entire decade feels like a day. (This is obviously oversimplifying it, but follow me anyway).
Now take the 10 year period in which you moved a lot, worked several different jobs, made different friends, tried lots of things, and traveled. Hardly any days or weeks looked or felt like any other in that 10 year period. Well now your brain has to dedicate a lot of space and energy into remembering the events of that decade. Your perception of that decade will be much different. You lived a lifetime. You have a lifetime of memories. That decade feels much bigger. It feels like it lasted much longer.
Oddly, while we're in the moment it feels the opposite. When we're bored, time crawls. When we're busy, it flies by. But in retrospect, the exact opposite happens. We look back on inactivity and it barely registers a memory. It's almost like it never happened at all. We look back on our time bristling with activity and there's a lot to unpack. Those are the memories that stay with us. Those are the memories that give our lives meaning.
Not a fan of the title. Idk if Time itself is speeding up. More so I believe itβs the compounding of our collective knowledge.
This is straight up 2012 apocalypse shit
I have had similar thoughts (less the Mayan calendar nonsense), but I do not believe this is about time, or even time speeding up. Where we are going (perhaps the Omega as he called it) is a place where time does not matter. I am a virtual reality developer and I am currently making a Disney SpaceShip Earth like dark ride for the Oculus Quest and other virtual reality headsets called βInto the Metaverseβ. It is about the past, present and future of immersive technology from telling stories around the fire, to todayβs emerging Metaverse technology naming VR and AR, and into the future as to where it is all going. The video above touched on immersive technology, but I think he failed to expand on this as this is a much bigger deal than just another medium. It is the final medium as it is all the previous mediums, plus all the possible and even impossible mediums especially as computer brain interfaces become more sophisticated. For a lack of a better example the Metaverse is the Matrix or the Oasis and with AI behind it all, it will be more than the Universe as it is a another multiverse in of its self. We as a species are going into the Metaverse and time has no meaning there. It will be fast if you want or slow if you desire and everything in between including no time. That is my 10 cents. If you are curious about my ride I will be published a free demo of the first 6 scenes on SideQuest in the best month or so and lawyer next year it will be available across various VR app stores.
Once again an encounter with a bastardization of the concept epigenetics: https://www.theguardian.com/science/2015/jul/19/epigenetics-dna--darwin-adam-rutherford
When I saw the title, I thought it was going to be a meme about Pucci.. lol
