hey everyone I'm Jordy and this is your guide to defeating the normal and hard mode version of thorum the Titan keeper I remember you in the mountains now Thor's hard mode is by far the easiest hard mode in ulduar I highly recommend you spend however much time it takes for you to get it down as that 252 eye level gear is going to be helpful in progressing the rest of the instance to enable the hard mode you need to reach the top of the balcony the dorm is perched on in Phase One in under three minutes and push him off while Sif his partner is still in the arena we'll go over exactly how to do that in a second but just know it's very doable and you should push for it okay so thorm is a two-phase fight requiring two tanks and as many healers as you feel comfortable running we go with five but feel free to flex up or down to fit your needs there's nothing special here just make sure you don't have too many melee as there's only so much room for them on this fight as a large clump can bounce chain lightning too many times and kill a bunch of people all right so I'd recommend for your first pull to rush into the arena killing everything in there and having your Shadow priest of Mind Control one of the humanoids from here you can set up the raid and positions for phase two making sure everyone knows where they're supposed to be and how to avoid chaining the lightning the thorum casts the fight won't actually begin in Earnest until that last mind control ad dies so you have all the time you need to position your raid all right here's how we split the rate up there's very likely better ways to do this but this is how we did it and it works and it will work for you and this is our Phase 2 positioning plan this out ahead of time so you know where you're going note that the most important positioning is the melee they have to be specifically Max melee range as pixel stacked on each other as they can if that lightning chains you can lose six to eight melee and very likely white we'll go over phase two in a second but keep this position in mind and Orient your raid to where you'll need to go okay so phase one The Raid splits into two groups an arena group and a tunnel or Gauntlet group one tank each two healers in the arena group and three in the gauntlet lean toward melee DPS in the arena group is preferable as The Gauntlet adds to a nasty cleave that you don't want to be taking the arena group hangs out in this room dealing with ads as they arrive these ads aren't very intimidating just loose spread at the middle of the room and handle them as they arrive Mages watch out for evokers damage absorb Shield you can spell steal it if you see a dark Rune Champion casting Whirlwind run away it's very avoidable damage and shouldn't be taken it also can moral strike which can one shot pretty much anything except for your tank seriously I've seen it hit a DK for 20K just be careful as you GPS not to rip threat and let your tanks pick them up quick healers be mindful as the mobs spawn they may turn to you first as you're casting heals just try to avoid standing near them or you'll get whacked one last thing for this there's a mob here named dark Rune warbrbringer that can be mind controlled and provides an aura to the group that increases spell and melee speed by 20 percent up to you if you think it's worth okay the other team the gala team has a bit more of an involved time as the last initial ad dies the lever at the side of this gate becomes activatable and you should click it immediately as the gate opens Rush inside staying behind your tank and take on the first of two waves of dwarves even nasty stunning cleave so make sure you stay back and avoid ripping off of your tank they're gonna have a bit of a time keeping them in place as you're fighting these you'll notice the back of the hall you're in is a giant runic Colossus every so often it will raise one of its hands and channel a fire spell and then smash the ground creating a Rippling wave down that side of the hallway towards you when you see which hand it's in call for the raid to move to the other part of the hallway so that you don't get hit by it it's extremely avoidable two sets of dwarves are dead you pull the Rune at Colossus and kill him this guy can charge anyone over eight yards away and has a cone attack that you should face away from the raid so stack behind him then through the door you'll find another set of dwarves before climbing some stairs and encountering an ancient Rune Giant this guy's not too scary he'll just occasionally debuff someone with Rune detonation that Roots them in place and after the debuff expires we'll deal damage to everyone within range spread out if you see someone with the debuff run away from them and blast once this dies move into the final hallway thorum isn't out of Tricks yet though as the sunken circles in the hall here are actually traps that will freeze you in place if you step in them just hug one of the walls and avoid that before reaching thorm do a tiny bit of damage to him and push him into the arena where your friends are waiting everybody jumped down and we begin phase two in earnest now if you did the hallway section of the fight fast enough you will Engage The Hard Mode three minutes is all you have but with some coordination you should easily meet the timer and face both thorum and Sif alright phase two Thorne lands in the center of the room and should be picked up immediately by the tank finish off any leftover ads these will now stop spawning all you've got to worry about is thorum zip herself isn't actually targetable you're just fighting thorum while Seth appears around the room doing whatever she wants to which we'll talk about in a second both tanks should stand on top of each other while the other melee spread out similar to kel'thuzad in three distinct groups around him stacked as close as possible and Max melee range okay so thorum has a few abilities first and most importantly tharm does a chain lightning this strikes someone for about 5 000 nature damage but jumps to a nearby Target doing 50 more damage for each jump it does this can jump infinitely but doesn't repeat a Target so you need to be mindful of your positioning lest you chain the entire rate and absolutely White second dorm casts unbalancing strike on his current Target this does 200 weapon damage and applies a debuff that reduces the target's defense by 200 for 15 seconds this cannot be dodged or buried and it does mean that you will be crushable and critical so your off tank must haunt off the current Target once it's applied finally Thorn will cast Lightning Charge he'll absorb energy from the lightning orbs spread out around the room dealing damage to anyone in that direction in a cone while also gaining a stacking buff that increases his melee damage and attack speed by 15 and increasing his nature Damage Done by 10 percent this means the fight's on a soft and rage as the longer you're engaged with thorum in Phase 2 the more damage he's going to be dealing I just want to emphasize this real quick he'll suck lightning from one of the orbs as telegraphed by the stream of lightning moving toward him then about 10 seconds later he'll blast that same area he absorbed from with a cone of lightning so you should move out of that area if you see that stream of lightning just be careful as you move not to get too close to any of the other stacks of players you can still chain the lightning storm casts if you're unlucky which could lead to unfortunate deaths now that's storm but if you're doing hard mode with Sif included you've also got to keep in mind a few additional things Sif who you're just going to ignore cast a few things every so often that you need to be mindful of first she'll cast a blizzard that tracks the outside of the room similar to how shade of Iran did in karazem you're going to want to avoid getting hit by this by moving away from it but remaining aware of where you're going as if you get too close to another group of people you could chain some lightning and screw over everybody melee don't need to worry about this the blizzard won't hit them additionally she'll cast random Frost Nomas this should be dispelled as soon as possible as your Raiders will need to move out of various things on this fight blizzard Lightning Charge whatever finally she'll cast a frostbolt volley every so often it's unavoidable damage that you need to eat not worth thinking too much about all right well that's really it for thorum once you're comfortably in phase two it's all about avoiding avoidable damage and keeping the tanks up nothing really changes outside of the outgoing damage ramping up over time with some good DPS quick heals and people not standing in the wrong place you should down Thorn them without too much difficulty all right let's discuss some tank tips in Phase One your Gauntlet tanks going to want to make sure that they get those dwarves away from the raid as they really cleave stun hard as hell caution DPS not to rip threat while you're stunned yourself and while you're tanking thorum as his damage ramps up you're really going to want to have a steady stream of cooldowns you can hit very hard toward the end of the fight so saving Shield walls ibfs dsac etc for the last 20 percent can prevent some unfortunate deaths and remember as soon as you see the unbalancing strike hit the other tank you have to taunt immediately letting them take even a single extra melee hit from thorum could spell disaster and remember thorum is tonable so if you do die just get a battle res or a soul Stone and get buffed before taunting back again alright and for your healers this fight has a lot of burst damage in Phase 2. between Ross bolt volleys chain Linings and blizzards you're really going to have your hands full saving cooldowns for the end of the fight can be clutch Divine hymns tranquilities and the like go a long way toward topping your raid off after a bad batch of RNG for your paladins ask your Rey leader if you can be positioned by The Gauntlet gate door that's where you'll least likely have to move due to there being no lightning orb for thorium to draw energy from because of the gate being there so you can say planted and spam the tank more often than the other areas in the room and for some DPS tips it's absolutely critical you do your best not to chain the lightning in the room your positioning should always be your first priority followed by self-seize and then your DPS thorum is a full send burn so lust on the rip and pop everything you've got it's up to you to enable your raid to beat the soft and rage here positioning wise The Gauntlet gate quadrant of the room will be the least likely area to get lightning charge so if you need to put an odd number of people in any one stack do it there alternatively the door to the room is the most likely so your Rogues are good candidates for that stack as they can cast faint which reduces their incoming damage by 50 percent all right well that's it for Durham it's a fun asynchronous fight that you'll very quickly be completing every week with minimal wipes if you enjoyed this video or learned something do me a favor and toss me a like or subscribe it really does help me grow the channel and contributes towards by finishing this series of old award guides all right that's it for me see you all in old war
