Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
Wow! Very composed reactions from all guys involved, but then again. Brits Will britt.
The pilots and ATC handled this so perfectly, almost to the point that it sounded routine, but I wonder what's the protocol for them personally after an emergency landing like this?
Like, does the airline give them the rest of the day off, or do they hop in another plane and finish their shift?
I wonder why the engine kept pulsing like that. Did it periodically try to reignite?
I've often wondered why they can't just put something like chicken wire or wire fencing across the intake of these engines. I realize it may obstruct airflow but couldn't that be engineered into the design? Kinda like trains used to have cow catchers, we need bird catchers for jumbo jets.
I dunno just a thought
Consummate professionalism from all involved. Interesting to note the repeated clarification of details even when previously confirmed just to ensure a total lack of ambiguity as to the pilots' intentions.
Is there a sub for things like this? ATC audio and crashes etc
Aww. Thereβs a Concorde in the background at 2:12.
And this is why it is required for planes to be able to take off with half of their engines out.
I'm still waiting for the catastrophic part.
