know what we can fix this put him in my car headed to the hospital he was just this heaping mound of blue honey and just seemed so grateful to be around people thank you Jimmy is ten years old his elbow bones were protruding outside of his arm he was left in that condition for quite some time he was deflated like he'd just given up and he'd accepted his fate that's the first time I've actually seen a dog like that that's that's what sort of broke my heart I'm the founder of the animal welfare nonprofit Ewan leave the hospital today Jim B became my 63rd foster dog come on you can get down he started realizing that he could be a dog come on okay we'll do it together ready ready we got our eyes on the prize when you foster you may be the only reason why this dog is gonna make it out alive and into a home you just kind of have to focus on with a joy and not on the hurt see you walk oh yeah I'm Judy where are we gonna start with you buddy hey everybody's here to fix you we changing your bandage you okay no okay such a good patient he doesn't like it when I have to change the bandage but he knows no one is hurting him my goal is to get him strong so that we can find his forever home [Music] the day that chimney got his wheels and he wasn't very coordinated because he just seems so happy to be upright and on his own I know we're stuck we get stuck some the time like I didn't even like dogs eight years ago I was petrified of them never had a dog growing up my mom lied and said she was allergic she didn't want to deal with one because she already had four kids and I woke up one morning crawled out of a bottle of vodka and realized I needed something different in my life and this couldn't be what my life comes down to it's why Google the animal shelter lied on the application went down and started realizing what is going on out there why you don't need to buy your dog from a pet store or how many pit bulls are waiting for a home stager oh my god thank you and it just snowballed into creating app animal welfare nonprofits for bones and cuff I think we don't find our humanity in animals or remind ourselves that it's there and I just took a wrong turn it's you guys are wondering where we are let's call the hot mess hello Chumbawamba I'm gonna wake up yeah cheffy needs to continue to engage his muscles I need to get him strong enough to get adopted oh you know what I forgot one of his booties and one of his nails rubs on the quick and it leads okay we're gonna improvise with a hair tie a tampon and some dog poo bags I'm sorry but I'm putting a tampon on your paw thank the MacGyver of dogs done I'm officially crazy probably could apart further you know the booty feels a little weird look did not work one day three he's skinny better there's light in his eyes when he suddenly realizes I I can still be a dog so there's something happen to these ears yeah some idiot got him the wrong people take in these dogs whether they fight them or use them to breed to sell on Craigslist alright you're pooped it's so funny to me because people think that there's such a tough dog and I love you buddy they're really not pitbulls are some of the sweetest dogs good job Jimmy needs 12 weeks of physical therapy he tolerates it like he's so majestic about it no I hurts his brain still wants to move the way he's remembered moving his entire life I started incorporating physical therapy and took home stuff that we do where people are just gonna think all we do is eat in this house sort of trip can you get up come on use your legs yes almost almost 1 2 3 read good job we gonna get stronger Umizoomi where you going [Music] the first time I saw him walking without his wheels really walking was in my backyard but had him fix me spit on and I think my exact word for a whole week I literally couldn't believe it she'd be where's this coming from come on you can do it come on when he's in those those thrusts he suddenly remembers he's a dog seeing him light up to have an ability we take mobility for granted when we have it and a dog I mean they dream about running that's all they do when they dream because you can see them kicking after that Jimmy's personality but just kind of blew up they just like the life now [Music] would you like the snow he's kind of developed this independent personality that goes after what he wants he's a prince and I didn't know that when I first met him there was a first that made me really happy his first kiss it'd been weeks I thought it was a long time to wait and it was almost like oh the lights are on like if someone is definitely home in there he's a grateful grateful little dog thank you I think I got some tongue action there Jimmy's put on weight he is so close to being strong enough to be able to get adopted a typical day as long Jimmy and joy is going to get the mat with me I know are you hungry food excites Chimpy he gets that from me he wants that it became part of our physical therapy routine a lot of my time is spent looking for my doctor that's so cool they're vintage drive-in movie letters they had spelled God and I was like let me tell you what I see let's get Jimmy going all right good job you can do it Oh careful Oh oh my god the best that has never happened on the downhill like that nothing like this like this I don't even come get it holy what is this you ready to go home it was his confidence he knew he wasn't gonna fall you can see it in his eyes he's ready he's ready to go home look at this dog it's finally ready today I guess no no you just want food typical man Jimmy's ready to go home his joy is not meant for me it's not for another home today we are at one of Jimmy's routine appointments but later on we're meeting a very special woman who has put in an application to adopt should be slightly fun a lot of silence we have when we first pulled up his entire Elbo bond was just coming out of his body he's so good but his bandage changes he's like the most well behaved yeah I was just born that way I'm just born perfect he's so perfect I'm like what am i keeping this dog I'm gonna miss this dog I always say that I am ready to let go of a dog and place them into adoption when I found a home that's just good or better than mine and I have a feeling this one might be better what stood out to me about this woman is she doesn't care that he's a senior and doesn't care that he has eight legs and not for thinking about Oh thinking about thing goodbye it's bittersweet and they'll always be a spot in my heart for you plus I get visitation rights oh I think I'm okay your mom says no that yet but that's in the contract you want to go meet a special lady yeah let's do it [Music] started this vid option process is Jimmy and meeting hams determine if she feels a connection and today we'll see how it goes I had been looking into adopting senior dog Glashow chilli on Instagram they hadn't gotten any application do you want to be Jimmy when I said well maybe maybe we could be a good fit [Music] you're so handsome [Music] his medical issues it really didn't seem like that big a deal to us to have to deal with this little bit of extra TLC so it's maybe a little it's okay everybody honey so that is just because it's his time to poop today let me go get a poo bag real crack-up be right back he's very tired I think he just wants to lay down he is continent he's just lazy something [Music] yeah it's just grateful to be with kindness know when he's pain he wants to keep going I think he spent months confined to a small area which is how we got the pressure sores and I think he's just so grateful to be able to walk again that he doesn't even want to stop to be [Music] and you can t look but he loves that xx dissertation right absolutely seconds he's just like a sweet old man I think I really would like to welcome to him to our family do you like this lady yeah giving up this little piece of your heart and letting it break just a little bit it's a really happy joyous break when that dog goes he's gonna go home [Music] Jim Jimmy you about to go meet your new family you're gonna be so happy [Music] hey Jimmy we're your new home Paris the family is very validating you got a dump like buddy I know so many people didn't think that you were worth rescuing but this is proof right here I'm signing on the dotted line like we did this hey I heard you got a daughter I think this is perfect for you buddy unfortunately they would not take a to salon and keep me so they have sent me back to my home today I'm going to visit Jim be to see how he's doing in his new home so here goes I'm ready to see Jimmy and - I don't want to cry in front of everyone again mainly I really hope to see that Jim B knows this is his home okay look willing to do whatever it took to help him and Jimmy just never ceases to amaze me the resiliency he inspires us that vegans by Chimpy letting go have a foster when I get back in my car and I close this chapter I'm so happy you've changed the course of that dog's life and and you've changed that family's life Jimmy this is his home [Music] chimney is doing really really well he's opening up more and more to us every day he's found his voice if I'm going to slope making his breakfast he lets me know it was almost as if he'd always been here he's he's part of the family he's an old man he's been through a lot but now just gets to be a happy dog he can sleep all day if he likes we're happy with that that he just brings us so much joy and we're just gonna give him the best life you can
