130-Pound Dog Gets His First Home Ever | The Dodo Adoption Day

cosmo has never lived in a home before as far as we know we don't think he's ever gone upstairs before it's okay you don't need to be scared it seems like he doesn't understand treats he just seems to want to fit in spaces that are not necessarily saint bernard sized he's been here less than 24 hours and we just love seeing him have what he has now knowing that he didn't have any of it before [Music] cosmo was brought in from a breeder i don't know exactly why she surrendered him okay little buddy let's go you getting a good home when i decided that i was going to fly to nebraska rent a car and drive home with a 130 pound dog i was pretty sure that most of the world would think that i was crazy really in nebraska my husband likes to look at dogs online there was a picture of cosmo just looking up at the camera like please take me home and he was looking right at us are you ready to see your new mama and go to your new home so nervous i'm dropping things i'm gonna miss you little buddy hi cosmo hi oh my god hi hi [Music] oh my goodness would you like to come live at my house [Music] yeah yeah oh thank you oh thank you you're so good you're so good you're gonna miss cosmo yeah a lot yes yes but it's good they were like robbed i don't know if cosmo has any understanding of what's happening but i think he's figured out that there's a human here who wants to give him some love and he's pretty happy about it do you know how to sit nope okay we'll work on that [Music] it's been a big day hasn't it cosmo tomorrow morning we start the big ride back to upstate new york cosmo was really terrified of getting in and out of the car at first it took a harness to leash and three people everybody's in the car and we're ready to go is that okay are you comfy i live with my husband two kids and two dogs we also have giant rabbits they're kind of like the saint bernards of the rabbit world my hope for cosmo is that he gets the opposite of what he had just being part of a family we're about to cross the mississippi river we don't know if he knows how to get out of the car good boy we stopped to get some gas in illinois this is the aftermath look at the amount of water on the blanket everyone is sleeping he is really ready to get home that big ride is all done [Music] poppy was so excited to see cosmo he looked a little more shell shocked what do you think of this new friend hi granny grendel is just friendly to everyone and also old deaf and happy to just chill out as far as we know cosmo has never lived in a home can you look before this is your new home it's nice to just see him in a big space see him get to spread out and put his belly on a cool floor and just know that he's finally staying in this space a place where he can feel happy and comfortable cosmo you're so proper they're here this is open go really slowly bud let him smell you i think he likes you [Music] smell your hair i hope you guys wanted more drool in our house uh i would actually say that would be wrong cosmo this is your new dad oh i'm already drooled on thank you i wasn't nervous about cosmo meeting the kids what if we've opened up he's never really had a close relationship with humans but you can tell that he loves the kids he likes you ellis this is some kind of bug bite maybe he can't get a little bit of surgery he got neutered right before he came here he can't make babies we might be starting to change the rating of this movie it's cosmo's fourth day here and he is finally playing with his sister cosmo has learned to get in the car all by himself he likes his towel rubs cosmo is learning about people food and tables that are just his height i keep a big water bowl at the cosmo right in the shower but he completely ignores it we're coming up on one week of cosmo being with us he and the couch are at the beginning of a beautiful friendship i am amazed at how unfazed he is by things in the house including meeting our rabbits he just sort of seems to think that looking at them is like watching bunny tv and he's totally happy with that he and poppy are best friends now she basically wrestles with him but he stays stationary to wrestle back grendel is relieved not to be a part of this this one's become the daily ritual he has not figured out stairs whenever i come down he gets so excited and he just wants to have our special morning snuggle oh okay okay okay hi was it cozy back there cosmo here are the rules of our family walks okay we want them to have fun feel like life is an adventure but also just feel very safe and loved i don't think he's had the chance to feel any of those things in his life so far so it's really nice to be able to do that for him do you want to go swimming it's like a giant water bowl cosmo has had a lot of firsts i would guess that in the lake was his first time playing in the water it's likely that his walk in the woods was his first time just running free it's a cozy house for a cosmo animals just understand life a little bit better than people sometimes it's like they know what's important and if they have love and food and a roof over their heads and everybody's together that's all that really matters you
