This NYC Apartment WAS a Closet… Could You Live Here?

[Music] all right oh this is a small place [Music] here we are in lower Manhattan the West Village the goal for today is to see a whole bunch of Apartments which I haven't seen before and since they're down here I'm sure they're going to be pretty small look at all these stores coffee on the corner all that donut looks ginormous See's Candies apparently it's famous and really good and we're by every train imaginable first place is pretty close on the other side of that building [Music] foreign [Music] Place believe it or not our apartment's actually this one on the first floor and it's on a quiet little Street which has become a construction zone because whatever this is [Music] the whole place 32.50 and it's a studio honestly this looks like it might just clear 100 square feet it's 10 feet by 12 feet but check this out there's a little um fireplace in here it works you could throw some logs on this little guy and have a roaring Inferno that might make this really cozy let's see can we pop this grape open okay this is the view you can see the street up there it is clean down here though and this could actually fit a window AC now some people aren't no uh window kind of sticks you can see it's like starting to come off here you can kind of see the street but I think that that's better than having to get curtains because when are you going to have these open especially with your bed being right there actually there's this interesting pipe which I don't think you can remove so maybe a twin will kind of come out far enough but not hit that and then lined up with this you could have an end table this is kind of cool we have an actual thermostat baseboard so if you don't use the fire you can use this little guy right here to make it as hot or cold as you want but your bed's gonna take up most of the room and I'm not really sure what to do with this corner [Music] maybe you're not supposed to go in here I think that because this apartment's first floor we've got stuff like that and these pipes so I guess all you can really do with this is keep stuff on top of it it doesn't get hot so it's I guess a shelf and that probably means that right here in this part of the room you're going to get a table I think that's it for furniture we do have this one closet right here which definitely looks like it might be enough for about half your stuff if you're already a minimalist let's just say that you are definitely gonna be using those little coat hooks right there I'm not hating on it but the reality of this is storage is a little lacking [Music] foreign 's actually really good we got ourselves a sizable looking oven and at first I thought the fridge opened the wrong way but if it were to open the other way it would run into the door which is here cabinet space seems decent comes with a free bucket and look it's clean under here it's not a dirty apartment I think that's that snooze okay everything here is like brand new but small and gross sinks big how's the water pretty good water pressure it better be because we're first floor but for New York this is actually a completely normal kitchen definitely usable maybe a little lacking in counter space but just get yourself a plank of wood put it over the seat boom more counter space I just locked myself out oh man he looks mean that's a big spider um let's see if we can get rid of them oh no oh no don't nope nope don't come over here buddy you are not coming over here by me I ain't got time for you today I gotta film this apartment he's walking on the water he's resisting get in that drink get in there drink okay there we go anyways this bathroom is like a geometric uh accomplishment I can't even believe there is a bathroom in here the sink's big there's like a decent amount of storage look at the medicine cabinet this thing is a beast it's big comes with a water bottle you got a vanity light and look at these uh boards up there in the ceiling there was a high beam ceiling at one point in this place now above the throne we've got ourselves a medicine cabinet and some sort of weird vent I guess you just can't have the shower door uh open because it uses like this accordion style door it doesn't actually hit but um I don't think you can open it more than it is right now oh [Music] I just got myself man that sucks it's like freezing cold out today and I got wet clothes I guess we're gonna go see the next place now [Music] what's up man is it up here unfortunately yeah really [Music] [Music] dude how much is this this is 47 47 but it's like down here in the basement all by itself you can like see the garbage out there but it's a clean building and you're saving money in the West Village but the coolest thing about this part is the entrance like there's no other apartment down here and this could be like bike storage I'm guessing this isn't an apartment because there's no number and if you open this door over here it goes to the rest of the building these are the meters that the power company needs to check but out here is where things get really interesting very clean which I like and this entrance this is actually how we came in so you have your own entry point these stairs also lead to the Boiler Room even though it's non-traditional I don't think this is that bad and look right here that's actually your apartment number so people may ring this and want to get to you now inside we've got some um some design choices like carpet that you don't really see all that often but on the bright side it is really clean and this place is actually pretty big couch over here kitchen table and then Mount your TV you'll want a TV because the view isn't that exciting don't think I'm a little weirded out by is having a kitchen table on a carpet floor but I guess that's your only option because [Music] it's a little tight but it opens full fridge full oven full dishwasher so crazy how getting a roommate automatically means you're going to get a better apartment if you're willing to share look at this we've even got a nice big microwave cabinets kind of everywhere sink sprayer and the counter space is good look we just threw all our stuff on this one Granite outlets and out this window we can see the other side of the basement [Music] oh the closets here is awesome look at that man this is like a proper walk-in closet by New York standards it comes with a free AC which still works and the view is you know kind of the same view we've got we can see the sky though now that beautiful blue sky now because that opens up so wide your bed has to go here nothing's gonna go against it but look in this corner you could get dressers or a desk and you could probably get some dressers against the wall in here look at this crazy pipe I hope that doesn't break it's probably not going to but it looks like it starts over here and ends over here in the kitchen foreign by ten and a half so almost a nice rectangle both of these kind of have the same layout it's good to see a big closet in here as well and that means this is going to be a pretty easy two bedroom to share they've got the same AC the same view you're not fitting a bigger bed or more furniture in this room over the other one [Music] oh that is some powerful pressure very very good is this a medicine cabinet yes it is we've got a light up here which won't turn on tub is nice and big and look at that up here there's even a little window probably faces the basement even comes with a free roll and that's good you are about to run out [Music] thank you [Music] no my shirt's still wet but uh we don't have any power this used to be two apartments yeah so you used to be two apartments the rent is 79.50 how many bats did you say this was one or two this has two bathrooms dude they're nice no power so I gotta hold the phone with one hand like a cop oh thanks I appreciate that look at this we've got like a brand new bath but it still has the drop drain you drop that in to hold that up this is really interesting old school too how's the water if you're hungry you're going to lose a lot of weight walking from all the way over there into here where the kitchen is he's like 50 feet away it's a nice kitchen though look at that we got ourselves a big dishwasher same deal with the oven and look there's plenty of space I mean oh it's almost oh never mind I don't know why that door must be shorter big sink mini sink sink sprayer big microwave fridge even has a little ice maker in there interesting thing about this kitchen is actually this corner look it like kind of stops they didn't build it over here so you've got that window you've got this window we are looking out over the courtyard so it's peaceful maybe it could store something here and I don't know if this is part of the living room or if that's like a separate room from this I could just picture a super long table here one of those like feasting tables but something tells me this side of the room would wake me make way more sense for that because above the fake fireplace TV this was real at one time but now it's covered this is actually the Cooper Union School over here that's 7th Street three you could have a big couch over there very nice living room now this strange box this is your heater under here you can get to the heater valve heaters back there can you lift this up no Granite windowsill [Music] 11 and a half by 16. oh it's so bright over here where you can get all that sun and vitamin D I like how you think the closet in here is awesome there's no power so I can't turn on this light and show you that there's a light but trust me there is and I like how they kept the fireplace in there you could get a big bed and I guess another spot for it might be over here [Music] this Inner Room is eight by nine and a half now we do have like a nice Closet in here I guess this is the broom that could be a third bedroom but to get to it you gotta walk through the other rooms which are over here all these doors here if we close them you can see that that out there is the kitchen someone's gonna sleep here actually no they're not this is the laundry Corner over here we got our second bath it's a full a little bit tight but you know that's okay it looks clean across from that we got these two massive closets I just think this is going to be a hard sell and the only reason I say that is because you have the laundry in that corner so like if Charles is my roommate he wants to go do the laundry and I'm sleeping there I have to see him doing his laundry wait that might actually be a feature that is a fracture [Music] beautiful Lobby doorman building this is one of the few buildings in this part of town that you'll ever see like this [Music] all right there we go is that it [Music] so we figured out that whoever rents this apartment is breaking their lease that's why there's stuff in here chairs were they sleeping on this or was it like their couch but this is a 4 900 one bedroom with two two baths all right here's one of the bass got the uh Elementary School toilet right there nice tile though medicine cabinet we got a decent looking sink I don't really want to touch anything because someone lives here we're allowed in they're breaking their lease but there's probably stuff in this closet yep yes there is foreign [Music] 's apartment it's always mostly full people do what I did they buy one of those and they think yeah I'm gonna drink this stuff every day and then they drink it once and they're like oh man this has to be one of the tightest kitchens I think I've ever seen stove is Big there's a window we've also got a microwave cabinets are pretty substantial sink is also deep there's room for these little shelves and then right over here we got ourselves the fridge I just don't think you're cooking with company in here and I'm guessing that right outside this kitchen over by these table chairs there was a table from right here you can see the entertainment center and also from the couch and it's definitely a solid layout I mean we're not dealing with a small box [Music] foreign foot long bedroom and it's 10 feet wide this has to be a record in fact this bedroom is as big or bigger than that first apartment we saw but you could have a king bed over here you could also have like a nice work from home and tons of storage in here not to mention that the built-in storage we've got is really substantial this closet's huge they even have a little ladder so they could climb up here and get to the top shelves this is like having a storage unit that you rented in your apartment looks like we got an AC that's nice um you know we're looking at some other buildings might not be exciting but it'll be quiet [Music] nice bathroom it's just kind of creepy and I think that's because we got the dark marble it feels like it's luxurious maybe in like a 1980s sort of way on the other side of the door boy we got
