have you ever been mindlessly scrolling through Instagram minding your business and then you come across a picture of someone who is so flawless that you immediately think why don't I look like that I have you think I would know better considering I've been on YouTube for seven years and I've been on Instagram for about as long as that I am technically an influencer I hate that term - you would think me knowing what goes on behind the scenes and what it actually takes to get a good picture would stop me feeling like that that no so if I feel like that knowing what goes on behind the scenes I can only imagine how other people feel so in this video I'm gonna be peeling back the layers pulling back the curtains and revealing everything that goes on behind the scenes to make influences look the way they do and why you should never compare yourself to an influencer because you will never ever be able to look like them if you clicked on this video you'll know that I've used tami hem bro in the thumbnail Tammy if you're watching this which you're definitely not please don't be mad I'm not making this video to bash Tammy in any way shape or form I think anybody with eyeballs can see that Tammy is like otherworldly beautiful and a little bit jealous and her Instagram pictures are mind-blowing ly good like she does not take a bad picture that girl however I was watching one of her vlogs the other day and she was sat out in the Sun and I was like oh my god honey has texture on her skin I was so shocked because Instagram like she doesn't even have a pore on her Instagram so what actually made me so happy to say that Tammy actually had a texture on her skin and like a pimple hero there excels like oh my god it's not just me and there's absolutely nothing to be ashamed of like having texture on your skin having pimples here and they're having pause there's nothing to be ashamed of being human and looking like a human now before we get fully into the video this video sponsor is the one the only function of beauty I have been using this function of beauty for at least the last two years exclusively so this shampoo conditioner it is literally formulated for my exact hair nobody else on the planet has this formulation this is only for my head I've had some people message me in the past and they're like wait did you get that made for your hair because you're an influencer no guys that is what functional beauty does so function of beauty literally creates custom formulations of shampoo and conditioner for your individual hair type so what you do you go on to the function of beauty website I'll put the link in the description box down below you fill out a two-minute quiz and you explain to functional Beauty what your hair is like so my hair is wavy its course it's thick it gets really dry at the ends but a little bit oily at the roots so you tella function of beauty what your hair concerns are and then you tell function of beauty what you'll have goals are so I want mine to be moisturize I want to fix my split ends I want volume so once you've told them what your hair concerns are and what your hair goals are then you get to design your own shampoo and conditioner so you literally get to choose what the fragrance smells like you can even choose to have no fragrance if you don't like fragrance and then you get to choose how weak or strong the smell is you also get to choose what color you want your shampoo and conditioner to be I always go with pink because I'm a little bit boring and you can also choose whether you want to have silicone or no silicone in your products then when you're shampooing conditioner arrives it will literally have your name on it so that you know that is your custom formulation nobody else is gonna have the same shampoo and conditioner as you and if you have other people in your household they know to keep their hands off I'm glad obsessed with functional beauty like you do not get this kind of shampoo and conditioner when you go into like the drugstore or the shop and buy a shampoo and conditioner off the shelf it is never going to be exactly right for your hair but because you literally get to design your own shampoo and conditioner non-functional Beauty it is formulated for your hair and for your hair only it's also vegan and cruelty free and you guys know I am vegan and my channel is cruelty free so that makes me so happy and they're also free from parabens and sulfates as a side note I also got my hair bleached yesterday you can't really tell but I had two ends lighten because I had like two years worth of black box dye through the ends of my hair so I've got some bleach put him through the ends of my hair to gradually start to lighten it and as you can see my hair still looks so healthy even though I literally had it bleached yesterday and the reason is I started loading up on this stuff this is like a deep haircare mask from functioning Beauty again formulated for my hair so I was loading up on that before getting my hair done so that my hair was in like perfect condition before getting it bleached so if you guys want to take the quiz at yourselves and find out what your perfect formulation is I will put the link in the description box down below and if you click that link you'll also get 20% off first functioning beauty order which is amazing so the reason I'm making this video is because I take my role as like a social media person very seriously I never ever ever want anybody to ever compare themselves negatively to me because I know how like demoralizing and how crap it can make you feel when you see someone on social media that just looks so perfect like they've got the perfect face the perfect body the perfect life and then there's little ol you over here in the corner feeling bad about yourself like it sucks so that's why in my youtube videos I always make sure to get up really close to the camera and show you guys I've got paws like guys my paws are the size of the moon you could like go for a trip there and get lost I also have texture I have fine lines like okay these are actually go beyond fine lines now they are Eagle feet but it's okay like it's okay to look like an actual human I think social media is gone so far this way and everyone looks so bloody perfect that even if you're pretty okay with your looks when you can pay yourself to these influences you can feel so low so do you want to know why you will never ever look like an influencer no matter what you do or how hard you try I'll let you in on a little secret influencers don't look like influences either I found this Instagram account the other day pretty harsh Instagram account not gonna lie but it was very eye-opening celeb face this popped up on my explorer page and I was just mind blown so this Instagram account it puts side-by-side images of like influences before they have edited their pictures or if they were caught unawares and they weren't posing with the right angles and right lighting at all and then it compares that to what they actually look like in real life and I was like so let's take an Instagram for example right so on Instagram we all post our best pictures we post the pictures that we think we look good in no influencer or regular person who's not an influencer wants to only post their very worst pictures on Instagram like imagine if your Instagram feed was filled with all the worst pictures you've ever taken of yourself who would do that nobody wants to do that we all want to look good online so one of the reasons you will never look like an influencer is because you don't have the lighting right so where I'm sat right now I have one two three four five six take out that quickly I have six lights here all pointed at my face you look decent the reason I do is not to make myself feel better than I do although that is nice but it's because I do makeup on YouTube so I need like good even lighting so that I can get really close up with my camera and show everything in super-high detail the other Pro to that is that this lighting is also super flattering so see I don't have any awkward shadows on my face and from where I'm sat from say you guys are right there and I'm here you hopefully can't see all like the skin texture and pores that I have like around this area here so this lighting for me right now is super flattering however if I get up really really close here suddenly you can see the pores around my nose here and this is still in the flattering light I've just got them closer okay now I'm outside and as you see it's pretty cloudy so this is what my skin actually looks like in real life day lighting not as good as what it looks like in my studio that's for sure and you know what if it was sunny right now my skin would look a thousand times worse I'm actually really lucky right now that it's cloudy because this cloud is actually acting like a diffuser so the Lighting's a lot more flattering than it usually would be let's see you guys right in there we go look at those bad boys paws skin texture probably have a mustache here as well skin texture fine lines crow's feet when I smile another reason you never gonna look like an influencer is because of angles angles are life angles make the world of difference me for example right if you go back to any of my old youtube videos you will probably notice now that I've pointed it out that I'm kind of always tilting my head to this side this left-hand side of my face is my good side so if I'm ever posing in pictures I'll always pose on this side because I like this side of my face however on this side of my face I've got a scar here I feel like my jaw is lower on this side of my face this nostril is higher on this side of my face to the other side and this I kind of droops down more than my left side and this is also my bad brow so like this side of my face it's not my friend I also don't really like facing a fully front on again because I feel like this eyes a little bit droopy and my nose like my face is not symmetrical so my nose I think it tilts off to this side I think that's where it goes so I always try and angle my head this way because I feel like that's how I look best and you know what I've been doing it for so long that I don't even consciously do it now I just the moment I turn the camera on I'm like and it's not just me all that influences other Instagram girls they know their angles to a tee so they know how to get that booty poppin they know how to like angle themselves so that their waist look smaller and their boobies look bigger and they look taller and thinner and again they're doing it in good lighting so that there's no cellulite on show even though I think 90% of women have cellulite like it's just a normal fact of life angles are everything and it doesn't stop there once we've got our angles right it's also a matter of being in control of the camera so the majority of influences will either be taking the photo of themselves themselves or they'll have a photographer who is in control of making them look good in that photo so I don't know if you guys have ever read like kinda like a gossip Magdalene mail for example but they love to put two pictures of an influence up or celebrity side by side to show you guys the difference between the pictures that they post themselves and what app app takes for example at paparazzi I think Lauren glued right is a great example of this and not to bash Lauren Goodger at all like she's actually I think she's so stunning but the pictures are she posts of herself compared to what the paps sake of her are so so different and it's because when we're in control of the camera we are in control of our pose we're in control of the lighting we're in control of the angles so that we know that that picture is gonna look good before we publish it for other people to see if however like the fan takes a picture or a paparazzi takes a picture or your friend takes a picture you're not in control of the camera you're not in control of the lighting you're not in control of your angle like you may have been like mid talking so you're like you might be in horrible lighting and you got all these awkward shadows on your face and your skin texture looks unreal or you might be on your bad side but so here's a good picture that me for example that fully explains this so see this picture here my friend Morgan took this picture we're at the Guns N'Roses concert and if you look at this picture of me compared to the pictures that I post of myself my own Instagram it's like two different people and the reason is because I was like halfway through talking so I look a bit like a duck the lighting was not my friend was also raining so my hair just look like so even though I feel like it looked a bit like a toad in that picture I still really love it but I feel like that's a great example of what I would look like in pictures if I wasn't and influenced I compared to the pictures of myself that I post on Instagram where I think and I try to look really good then we've got editing and editing guides is a whole other ballgame so you've got Photoshop if you want to get really intense facetune ribbit that's what I use I've actually made a few videos in the past of how I edit my Instagram pictures but I've also changed it up a little bit recently I always edit the lighting so I up the exposure I up the vibrancy I up the highlight so when I up the highlight my eyes will bright up my teeth look whiter and brighter my highlight pops I also up the shadows to give that full like vintage faded effect and then I also go on to this app on my phone this is it's called color tone so here's all my pictures here that I've edited so I go into my picture and I like to use this filter here it's called Bharati then you can also control how much filter you want and how little filter you want so I do that because I want all my Instagram pictures to kind of like look the same and kind of like look cohesive and make my feed look really pretty well guys he's like another example of like when you're not ready for picture so remember how I said I was at the hairdresser yesterday my friend put this up and look at my little beady head there in the background like I was not aware or like ready for a picture to be taking I look so funny so like that compared to like the pictures that I put up of myself on Instagram it's so different I'm not gonna lie I used to edit the absolute heck out of my Instagram pictures because I felt so insecure I used to airbrush my skin I used to make my eyes light up I used to edit my nose to make my nose look smaller because I felt like so insecure I compared to like these other girls or an Instagram that I thought was so beautiful and then there was little old me over here and I was like my nose is too big my skin is terrible so I tried to edit myself to what I wish I looked like but I stopped airbrushing my pictures I have not airbrushed my pictures in years and that's because I don't want to perpetuate the notion that skin texture or pores or pimples are something to be ashamed of like even the most perfect skin as we've seen with Tami for example has pores and texture I'm gonna have people under this video like I can guarantee you I have not if you go onto any of my Instagram pictures of my face where you can actually see my face and zoom in you will be able to see that I have in fact not airbrushed on my pictures like here's one that I think is pretty nice for example yeah it looks nice from far away boom zoom in I don't know if you guys can see see up here if I was gonna airbrush my picture I would have at least gotten rid of my wrinkles I also don't edit my nose anymore but I think that's because I've worked out my angles so much and I'm also a dab hand at contouring my nose I've done a video on that I'll put it up here in the description box down below so not only do we have lighting angles editing be in control of the camera have to take into account but then there's also the fact that we have taken so many pictures just to get that one good picture I will literally get my poor long-suffering fiance Darrin to take like 50 to 100 pictures of me with very very small varying differences in my pose just to get one good picture that I think is ok and after put up on my Instagram it's actually ridiculous so you guys don't see all the pictures where I look like really awkward all the pose just wasn't working for me or I was like in the middle of yelling at Darren because he wasn't getting my angles right you see that one good picture that I had the right lighting for that I then edited that I've then uploaded so don't compare your regular self and your regular photos to that I feel like the bar has been set so high with his unrealistic beauty standards that even influencers can't reach that standard without editing the crap out of ourselves I think everybody including influences feels this pressure to fit into this box of what like a beautiful person is supposed to look like and did you guys even know I only found this out the other day that you can even facetune your videos so it's not enough to just look perfect in pictures now you've got to look perfect in videos as well like it's just getting too much so this view I can see right now is like over 12 minutes long so I'm gonna end it here but I hope this video helped you guys please never ever ever compare yourselves badly to anybody that you see on Instagram don't pay yourself to influences because even influencers don't look like influences in real life let me know your thoughts on this video in the comment section down below love you guys's guts I hope you're all safe and well I'll see you in my next vid why
