[Music] hey guys welcome back to my channel so if you are over the age of 30 this video is for you YouTube is filled with amazing young makeup artists doing all these crazy techniques that look amazing on young skin but if you don't have young skin you could be left wondering why these makeup tutorials are making you look older than you actually are I'm turning 32 this year so I'm definitely noticing myself starting to show the signs of aging which I've got to say I don't say it's a bad thing aging is a privilege that is denied to many in this video I will be using my own brush set that I have out with Sigma and cloud tan it's my face and I brush set not sponsored but it is my own brush set oh and is currently on sale and there's so many amazing brushes in here for your face and eyes so I'll link it in the description box down below if you guys so in this video I'm showing you guys that the makeup mistakes that you really don't want to make over the age of 30 and some makeup techniques you can use to look amazing at any age so I put a picture up on my Instagram and it asked you guys what your makeup issues were once you're over the age of 30 and so many people I think like 90% people said fine lines I'm wearing two different foundations on either side of my face so on this side of my face you can hopefully tell this is the mistakes side so on this side of my face I wore a really thick heavy foundation I went in with the huda beauty foe filter foundation which I'm not gonna lie it's not my favorite foundation it does have amazing coverage but it's extremely heavy on the face and when you're over the age of 30 your pores can start to enlarge you can experience dry patches on your face and you're also probably gonna start to experience fine lines so on this side of my face I've won an extremely thick heavy foundation which is honestly just quite uncomfortable on my face and I really feel like it's weighing my face down and it's also gonna make any fine lines or enlarged pores more obvious on my skin now on this side of my face which is meant to be the good side hopefully it looks better than this idea guys I don't know this is meant to be my good side so on this side I wore a much lighter foundation now I do actually like coverage because I have rosacea and acne scars from when I was younger so on this side of my face I went in with the illamasqua skin base foundation it's still giving me coverage but it's not heavy and as you guys can hopefully see this side looks a lot lighter and more natural than this side which looks really heavy and a little bit cakey now on this side of my face I'm not gonna set the foundation in place with any powder what's the issue with that you ask when you leave your foundation wet and unset it's shiny isn't it like if you have wet foundation on your face and you look in the mirror it looks shiny now shiny things are highlighted and they actually highlight anything that's underneath them so if you've got fine lines or enlarged pores and you leave your foundation shiny and wet it's literally going to work the same as if you put a highlighter on your wrinkles or on your enlarged pores it's gonna highlight the texture of skin that's underneath the wet foundation so if your fine lines and wrinkles what you want to do is going with a super fine dusting of a setting powder I know that's probably gonna freak some of you out and you're gonna be like what but powder makes me look cakey and you're right applying a large amount of like a thick powder will absolutely make you look cakey it'll make anyone of any age look cakey not just us at or over the age of 30 but if you in with a super fine dusting of a finely milled powder it will not barely set your foundation in place so that it lasts all day but it's also going to slightly mattify your skin and anything that's mattified means it absorbs the light so it's not shiny anymore which means it's gonna minimize the look of fine lines so important to note if you are planning on wearing under-eye concealer and do not set this area with powder until you've done your concealer you never want to put liquids or creams over the top of powder so here's a little tip for you guys if you're worried about accidentally applying too much powder and ending up looking like a cakey mess I recommend investing in a duo fiber brush this is my f15 duo fiber brush from Sigma it's actually in my brush set because the fibers or the duo fiber brush are so lightweight they actually don't let you apply too much product like even if you wanted to apply too much product this brush just won't let you the light fibers at the top pick up the small amount of product while the more dense fibers at the bottom distribute the product evenly doing a lot of the blending work for you and the other question I got a lot from you guys was under eyes concealer creases and baking now when it comes to brightening the under eye area when you're over the age of 30 you want to avoid going down the extreme concealer baking root this is okay from afar and in photographs but to be honest it never really looks good up close as you start to age your under-eye skin can become quite thin it can start to look a little bit creepy and you'll most likely start to notice fine lines appearing on this area especially when you smile now all my mistakes I've I'm going straight in with a brightening concealer I'm gonna be applying that all over my under eye bringing it right down Kim Kardashian style next I'm going to bake my under eye using copious amounts of powder which is what you typically see on YouTube and Instagram from far away and in photographs it can look pretty good but when I get up close to the camera you can literally see that if I dare smile or square my eyes my fine lines are suddenly so pronounced and if I were to wear these combo on my under eye all day the makeup would end up sinking into my fine lines and making me look a heck of a lot older than I actually am so what you want to do if you have dark circles that you want to brighten is first color correct them if you go straight in with a brightening concealer like we did on this side you have an actually color corrected the issue so the dark circle is still going to show through so what you need to do is color correct the dark circle first and then go in and brighten so I'm taking the if cosmetics bye bye under-eye cream in the color rich and I'm applying a very small amount to my dark circles I'm using my f70 concealer brush from my face brush set to smooth the concealer out so what we've done we've now neutralized the dark circles so we can go ahead and brighten I'm taking the Too Faced Born This Way concealer in the color vanilla and I'm going to apply a small amount onto the back of my hand like a pallet then taking the same f70 brush I'm going to apply the brighten you can see a lot only where I need to brighten now I'm taking a damp blender and I'm gently patting the brightened concealer into the rest of my foundation now if we need to set this in place powder is not your enemy here folks just like with shiny unset foundation shiny and set under eyes are going to enhance the fine lines too so using your f15 duo fiber brush or if you don't have a duo fiber brush a small powder puff or a small blush brush can work to apply a very fine dusting of powder to sit this combo will not only conceal any dark circles but it will also brighten under eye and minimize the look of fine lines and this will work with any age here's me doing the same technique for my mom and as you can see her under eye area is immediately enhanced which gives the entire complexion a gift full glow alright contouring contouring is another technique that a lot of people struggle with when they start to age now the whole point of contouring is to add structure and definition to the face now when you're young and your face is holding a little bit of baby fat and it's a lot fuller you can get away with doing just a kind of sharp straight line underneath your cheek and that's gonna give the illusion of like high cheekbones and a thinner face however as you start to age your face loses a lot of the baby fat that you once had and you lose a lot of the fullness in the face so if you go in with a contour like that it's only really gonna make you look kind of severe drawn and a little bit tired so on my left side I'm still going to contour but this time instead of a straight line under the cheekbone to make the face look more angular I'm contouring to fake the look of fuller cheeks because full cheeks give the face a lift effect which in turn makes the face look more youthful contouring as you age is less about making the face look more angular and more about bringing fullness back into the face runs up bronzing is a product that can make you look amazing or make you look like a Dorito when I was younger I used to go in with bronzer on my cheeks as though it was blush in fact I didn't even use blush I just used bronzer as blush I go in with a pretty decent amount and just pop it onto my cheeks thinking it made me look 10th as you can see on my face now it just looks kind of odd and to be honest it probably didn't look great back in the day either behavior now that I'm older and wiser I still apply bronzer but I apply it strategically so now with my bronzer I apply it anywhere the Sun hits naturally so the top of my forehead the bridge of my nose tops of my cheekbones and a tiny bit on my chin this is the way to actually give your face a sunkissed look also instead of applying bronzer to my cheeks instead of blush I now go in with a light rose shade of blush and I'm gonna lightly dust that over the apples of my cheeks this gives an ageing face a pop of color and adds back that youthful glow hooded eyelids this is my specialty I'm so passionate about ize I've been doing this for the longest time as you age you can lose some of the fat behind your eyelids and your eyelids can start to droop it a little causing hooded eyes and creepiness now what did eyes aren't a bad thing I personally think they're an absolutely beautiful eyes shape but you do need to change your eye makeup techniques just a little bit in order to get the best out of this eye shape when you're young with a nice defined crease and no loose skin a simple swipe of shimmery eye sho can look great but on hooded eyes or mature eyelids this is definitely not the most flattering to look like we learned at the start of the video shimmer highlights any texture underneath it and for hooded eyes this can include creepiness fine lines or the hood of the eye itself when you apply shimmer up over the crease of the hooded eyes you're effectively highlighting the hood of the eye and making your eyes appear more hooded than they actually are another thing you want to avoid doing is applying a deep shadow under the crease or under the hood of your eye if you've got hooded eyes and you apply a dark shadow up to the crease of your eye and not any further than that when you open your eyes and look straight ahead you're not going to be able to see that eye shadow because the hood of your eye is actually covering it so it's kind of a little bit of a waste of eyeshadow for hooded eyes I like to take a tan shade on a blending brush this is the e25 blending brush from my face and I brush set and I work the shadow into the socket of the eye not the crease with hooded eyes your crease will usually be covered up either partially or completely by the hood of the eye but the socket never moves as it's literally your bone so see here this is the actual crease of my eye which is really low down because I have partially hooded eyes but my socket where the actual bone socket of my eye is that's way higher so what you want to do is apply your eye show into the socket of the eye and blend out from there rather than apply that eye shadow into the crease of the eye now guys don't be sad I'm not saying that shimmers are completely out of the question for hooded eyes we just need to use them to flutter rather than detract from our eye shape a pop of light shimmery shadow right on the inner mobile lid looks absolutely gorgeous on hooded eyes you may not be able to see it when your eyes are open depending on how good a jurors are but when you look down it looks so beautiful and thing I love to do on hooded eyes is apply a tiny bit of dark eyeshadow to the outer corners of the eyes this elongates the look of hooded eyes and makes them look so much bigger and it gives that real sexy cat eye effect now this technique I like to call it the soft socket technique this will work no matter how footed your eyes are or how old you are as you can see here I'm doing the exact same soft socket technique on my beautiful mum and as you can see it looks gorgeous on her so no matter whether you have only slightly hooded eyelids or extremely hooded eyelids this eye shadow technique will work for you so see this guys when you compare my two eyes now the one with the mistake eyes shadow and the one with the good eye shadow the slide with a mistake our shadow looks a lot more hooded and then my left side looks a lot more defined droopiness as you get older your face loses volume and it can kind of start to Sag and the same goes for your eyes when I was younger I used to love putting dark eyeliner on my bottom waterline and under my lash line but nowadays that's a big no-no for me putting dark liner on the bottom lashes really brings the look of the eyes down especially if you already have downturned eyes like I do so instead of dark liner I like to take a deep matte eyeshadow and use a small brush like this a 20 smudge brush from my face and I brush collection and dust the eyeshadow under my lower lashes this still gives your eyes a beautiful smoky effect but as you can see it's a lot softer eyeliner big dramatic winged liner is all the rage for the younger folk why do I suddenly feel so ancient so when you do your winged liner this way on hooded eyes as you can see when I open my eyes I've lost like all my lid space and instead of making my eyes look elongated and bigger like window liner is supposed to do it's actually having an opposite effect so on my left side I'm going to do what I like to call a faux liner this is where you take a duck matte eyeshadow any color you like and a small brush I'm just again using my e21 smudge brush from my brush set but any small brush will do or even a q-tip I'm going to gently smudge this matte eye shadow through my top lashline as though it was an eyeliner as you can see the left side is so much softer and more fluttering than the right side which looks pretty heavy another thing that can happen as you age is your lips can start to become thinner now you can get lip fillers you want to but that's quite expensive so what you can do is just fake full lips with makeup if you go in with a deep shade and fill your lips in exactly as they are if you already have thin lips your lips are going to end up looking thinner than they actually are again if you like this look absolutely go for it and just completely ignore what I'm saying I mean makeup is subjective at the end of the day as art so what I like you may not like and what you like I may not like so make sense so you just do whatever makes it you feel beautiful so what I recommend if you do want to make your lips look fuller is going with a lip liner first now hold up before you apply a lip liner make sure it's sharp so sharpen that little baby and get a nice fine tip there's nothing more tricky than trying to achieve a precise lip line with a blunt lip liner so what you want to do is overdraw your lips I know that sounds scary like you're going to end up looking like a clown but guys if you do it right trust me it's gonna look beautiful what you want to do is only overdraw your lips a few millimeters outside your natural lip line next what you want to do is take a lighter shade and then fill in the rest of your lips this is almost like contouring and highlighting but for your lips and it will make your lips look so much fuller and that my friends is all the tips I have for you today as you can see the two sides of my face look drastically different I will link all the good products I use as well as my eye brush set in the description box down below and if you have any friends over the age of 30 that you think might find this video helpful you can share it with them too if you want to I hope you guys are all staying safe and well during this crazy time we're in I love you I'll see you in my next video bye
