just can't believe you didn't turn around for that that is yeah i'm i'm looking for something specific how are you going to tell me what to look for for my team what's your name wolf wolf yeah hi my name is wolf winters i'm 31 years old and i'm from melbourne victoria garrod say that my voice is fairly unique i don't know how it ended up this way it just didn't [Music] my biological parents led really difficult lives they had numerous issues they were in and out of jail my biological mother was on heroin at the time that she was pregnant and that is what led to her inability or incapacity to take care of me [Music] i luckily ended up being a quite healthy baby which isn't always the case for people like me [Music] i was put into foster care as an infant you know i spent a lot of my youth having my voice shut down having it silenced it remained that way for a very long time up until my adult years you know i've been stifled for a long time i suppose music was like a beacon of hope for me and the older i got the more i realized that you know it's something that can pull you from that darkness from those terrible times create something new [Music] stepping out on that stage uh is going to be one of the most challenging uh but one of the most important things that i've ever done i've never stepped up in anything in my life i've always been in the dark because after all of these years i never let anyone hear me the true me and now i think i'm ready i mean i'm not surprised that your talking voice sounds like that um look i just think your voice is so unique and so crazy good and i are cheating you cheating i'm not cheating i just are cheating i don't know if i can turn for you but uh that's all right man i understand unless we can all do it if we can all do it great there's some people i like to lose i'd like i had to give you a chair turn in can you give us one sec hey that's the executive producer what happened i just thought he was amazing so i don't know the problem we have is that unless i can get kelly to take him we would potentially have to tell him that he's not through anymore okay i'm sorry i just all right yeah i'm not trying to rattle again no think the issue that we've got is the artist has now had a chat too so is there any chance you'll take him through to your attention well otherwise we potentially have to turn around and tell him that he's not through anymore i kind of know where you take him i just really wanted a female i do i [Applause] i feel like it's so fast we can't like we can't break this off i'm gonna go and check anyway with it this is even possible i'm so sorry me too okay i'm just running back to the ducklings do you see what you started we'll figure it out you sound amazing i love the texture of your voice you sound fantastic i just know what i'm looking for oh good thank you but he on the other hand is not playing by the rules and i'm gonna if so you wouldn't take you will you wouldn't take him at all first of all don't make me look like the bad guy you don't want any following the rules that's fair enough we all would have another chair to hurt look no i why can't i have one i'll have two i want to change the rules completely how about three at the end of the day we either you sorry i've just heard back part of the philosophy of the voice is always that we put the artist first and i think the stipulation has to be the guy has a battle with three people in it with wolf and that he can only take one through the next right so he doesn't get i think additional a great idea how do you guys think that's fair yes it's totally fair yeah let me talk to guy for a second and picture sex well this is a first and had a chat with the coaches and everyone feels like the best thing to do is to let wolfe come through to your team um and then you'll just have to have a three-way battle in the next round where you send two home all right do you do voice-overs no you should you have like almost fails right hey guys do you mind i'm just going to get you back in your seats and guys going to explain what's going on thank you oh he's going to rewrite the rules like kelly did last year okay that's enough out of you what's happened is these guys have talked i'm sorry p.s to put you in this position because i think your voice is really dope and i really like it i love the unique nature of it um the good news is you're going to go through the battles [Applause] and welcome to team guys oh there's two doors open what okay wow there's three of us like my head was just like what the hell is going on like um it's welcome the first ever trio battle [Laughter] i broke the rules and got a little bit trigger-happy and i have a 13th member on team guy well if i just i had to turn because even look listen to his voice it's unbelievable audition was amazing wow the blind audition it was the most exhilarating best moment of my life i just think your voice is so unique i've never felt anything like that it was amazing welcome to team guy and thank you so much 13 is definitely my lucky number from this point on your musicality where does that come from like because you've got some chops i sing all the time when i'm by myself it's what i do so nothing ever like this though i've got no experience when it comes to singing on a stage or doing what i did in front of you guys that was a something new we've got someone so raw in wolf and to top it off i've thrown him in the mix of two people who are so experienced i'm super excited yeah i feel like i feel good about this it's exciting to be the greatest i won australian idol in 2007. getting on that stage i was taking a huge risk [Music] guy delta turned around and i'm like did that even happen it's so sad yes the energy shifted in the room when you started singing it was insane [Music] for my blind i sang a higher ground by stevie wonder that's a vocally challenging song [Music] i must have done something right i just want you to look at who's in this room i'm super super excited we need to make you all shine in your own way so i've chosen a song which i feel is going to be a moment the song i've chosen is old town road oh it's obviously a very familiar song to me it just lends itself to do something really different with it i want to play with all the timbres in your voice it's not fighting each other it's like where's my spot in this it's gonna be it's gonna be interesting yeah i'm gonna take my horse to the old [Music] i'm uh pretty interested to see how we go feel free to mess around with the melody normally i'm i'm like we need to make sure we're delivering the melody respectfully but in this instance we're changing chords basically just be yourself in your parts because there's nothing you guys can do where you can sound like the other person it's first ever trio battle so let's make it interesting [Music] we are very different vocally wolf has a very unique strong voice that you can just pick and the same with eye as well some people have said that to me in the past too so i think we all have a distinctive sound there is only one person going through it so you'll need to fight as hard as you can fight i'm gonna sing my lungs out trying i think i'm electric this is a really tough battle i know these other artists want this but i came here to win i think i can take it all the way i can't see myself winning this is it [Applause] for the rules [Applause] [Music] i'm gonna take my heart downtown [Music] i've been in the valley you ain't been about your parts now can't nobody tell me nothing you can't tell me nothing can't nobody tell me nothing [Music] nothing [Music] [Music] oh [Music] um well done all right well ultimately there can be only one winner as you know who's it going to be [Applause] there's somebody obviously that stands out to me and i just have to go with uniqueness so i'm going to go with wolf congratulations ladies and gentlemen moving forward to the playoffs with guys sebastian you did great you did it should we get our other person out here he is seeing wolf walking my reaction was almost the same as when i saw buku walk in how does this keep happening where i'm here with these extremely unique talents okay hello wolf exactly what i wanted so guy has put me up against johnny the nightmare pick for anyone on this team to be honest you're probably looking at each other going well why are we paired together yeah i paired you guys together because i want you to learn from each other yeah there are so many great singers in the world so what is it that makes them special it's uniqueness identity is the thing that separates you from being an artist and a session singer and that is the brutal honesty of that because in you johnny your voice is mind-blowing but what i need to get you to stop doing is to morph into whoever you're yeah you're performing so if you sing a whitney song it's got a real whitney flavor if you sing mj you suddenly sound very mj but how does johnny come out of all of this yeah it's not the first time i've heard that so it wasn't surprising after years of that happening you sort of shut down now that is something that wolf has in spades yeah he's got identity when you hear his voice he doesn't have the experience that you you have which means wolf you've got to learn from johnny how to own a stage you don't back yourself my theme for these guys is tones and i how do you make a tones and i song sound unique in another way i mean it's so iconically her and that's their challenge you've got dance monkey okay and so the other song is a song that she often covers forever young all right well outside of my comfort zone but that is where i think i can find you know the most gold in what i do you know it's uh it's just such an interesting song to do wolf is immediately identifiable and immediately there's just this element of wow this is completely different and he's making it his own but i'm extremely nervous to be honest it's important to go never seen anybody do the things they do before never seen anybody do the things you do before wolf keeps surprising me and i didn't know wolf's range was that big once you absorb that song this is going to be a proper moment i'm going to take guys advice and i'm just gonna go out there and believe in what i've got they say oh my god i see the way you shine take your hands my dear and place them both [Music] one more time [Music] yeah i've never seen anybody [Music] [Applause] let's be honest johnny's a freak like you're a freak of nature you can do anything but the theme of this week was individuality i need to throw things at you guys and see how you did i threw you that arrangement wolf you took that on and you've practiced your bum off you've done the best that you could possibly have done with it but it's hard for you you've just started singing wolf like you are so fresh to this whole thing and you've embraced every challenge but i would be fake if i didn't say it's tough singing against johnny he he is he's and that's why johnny almost every time you've sung it's been controversial everyone's passionate about it and because you're phenomenal you are you're you're a great talent and i don't think it's any surprise that i i do think it would be insane to not take johnny through congratulations johnny thank you johnny you deserve your moment you deserve your moment this time you're special congratulations we'll see you in the showdowns [Applause] wolf guy still has that wild card up his sleeve is there anything you'd like to say to him well i think we've taken the direction of my voice you know into some interesting places but i really do feel that you know i've got a lot more to offer you do have incredible uniqueness and and that tone is stunning trust me you are somebody who i'll definitely be considering thank you so much and thank you to all of you coaches you know for hearing me thank you
