[Music] i am victor and about a year ago i rode an electric bike for the very first time it was a brompton electric and i absolutely fell in love with it despite having a modest 250 watt motor it's powerful enough to make hills less challenging and make the ride more fun but what would it feel like if it was 10 times stronger than that this is the most powerful electric bike i've ever heard of it's the aerial rider grizzly area rider is an american company from seattle and they sent me the grizzly to review over the next few months i'll share how it fits in my everyday life is it good for commuting how does it handle grocery shopping how well does he climb hills what does this bike allow me to do that others don't what are its shortcomings as you can see there is a good amount of assembly that went into getting this bike up and running but now that it's ready to go let's take a look around [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so that was just a little taste of it let's take the bike outside so i can show you all about it before we take it for a max speed and hill climb test let's summarize the specs of grizzly some of you may not be familiar with this type of e-bike but they are becoming more and more popular in the us and you can see bunches of them being ridden on the streets or parked on campus they look like little motorcycles they don't have adjustable height on a seat so they're really not great bikes to pedal though you can if you have to it does have six levels of pedal assistance but it accelerates so quickly that the seven gears on the rear wheel can barely keep up and you'll eventually just use the throttle that's on the right side of the handlebar now if you've been looking for a bike like this here's what sets the grizzly apart from the competition and the reason why i was intrigued and accepted to test this bike in the first place this is an all-wheel drive bike meaning that it has two 1000 watt motors one on each wheel you can select if you want to use the rear motor only both motors or just the front motor using this switch on the left side of the handlebar it also has two batteries one in the middle of the frame and another on the back this combination of dual motors and batteries makes this bike extremely torquey and the front wheel will easily spin out if you pull the throttle all the way grizzly owners brag about it and consider it to be part of the fun and i can see why it also has dual suspensions and they work really well i've been playing around with a camera mounting it on the front to see how the front fork operates and also on the back and you can see that it really absorbs bumps really well it might be a little stiff for lighter riders but for me at 220 pounds they're just right like most bikes in this category it comes with 20 inch fat tires which help absorb quite a few bumps as well the grizzly is a heavy bike at 104 pounds and although you can't feel it while riding you'll certainly will while maneuvering it indoors to stop so much momentum it comes with hydraulic disc brakes that are honestly really good i personally love the center display that shows the speed the battery level the pedal assist level and some other metrics i like that it also shows how much power is being drawn by the motors and most of the time it's ranging from 2000 to 3000 watts making this bike up to 12 times more powerful than i'm used to with brompton now that we covered most of the basic specs let's take it for a ride to test max speed and see how it performs climbing a steep hill so we are starting this bike ride first it's worth mentioning that this bike comes limited to 20 miles an hour from the factory to comply with class 2 e-bike regulations but i removed that limitation in the settings but i really want to test the maximum speed so accelerating with a single motor first full throttle let's see how fast this can go and on the screen here on the dashboard the speed that you see is in miles per hour [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so the maximum speed with a single motor seems to be about 33 miles an hour i'm gonna turn on dual motors now and go in three two one go i think we're going on a slight uphill here but hopefully it will be a good representation we are already at 33 miles an hour [Music] and we are going on a slight uphill and on the display you can see that the power is about 2 000 watts which is absolutely insane and it's loud guys it's really loud but it's a lot of fun [Applause] [Music] i'm gonna take a ride here so right now we're headed to the steepest hill that i ever encountered here in atlanta to see how this bike performs with a single motor and dual motors and guys this the bike feels really solid even at 30 miles an hour and honestly right now i'm just using the throttle because the pedals become pretty much useless after a certain speed so if i start pedaling right now pedal assist kicks in and then very quickly it just pedaling becomes sort of useless and here we are we just got here we're going now with a single motor full throttle in three two one go worth noting that we are already on an uphill at the start and the bike is accelerating with a single motor kind of decelerating slowly here and we're still not at the steepest point on this hill but it looks like it's going and there's 1500 watts being delivered to the motor right now a thousand watts now and we kind of got here to the top of the hill i'm gonna help it with the pedals a little bit so it got us to the top of this hill if the hill was a little longer it wouldn't but again i'm doing a single motor and i'm heavy and this bike is really heavy so now let's go down and go with both of the motors and get the full potential all right now we have both motors engaged going full throttle in three two one go oh man i feel sorry for the front tire [Music] we are accelerating 3000 watts being delivered to the motors right now going uphill and still accelerating oh man this is this is fast and this is strong and we're here we're here at the top of the hill and the grizzly just doesn't care and i almost killed a squirrel not sure if you guys saw that but we got to the top of the hill now i want to do one final test and sort of take off from a dead stop at the steepest point on this hill until this point we have started from the bottom now i want to start from the steepest point and see how the grizzly performs so here we are from a dead stop going in three two one go and i'm accelerating very controllably here yeah the grizzly just goes it really doesn't care it just goes well guys that was it for this first test ride i'm really enjoying the grizzly it's a lot of fun to ride and it's extremely powerful my goal with this bike on the channel is to kind of understand who this bike is for and how how it performs for the everyday cyclist you know commuting to work doing grocery shopping that sort of thing now i'm gonna meet up with some friends tonight and i'm going to let them try the grizzly for themselves and kind of take their impressions on it it's pretty much going to be the rest of the video i hope you guys enjoy it so far and i'll see you in the next one it's not that bad i'm just it's all right careful on the turns isn't it cool it's awesome this thing is actually like so much more fun than i assumed it would be [Music] [Music] [Applause] the knob wait a second and hold on for dear life [Laughter] full throttle [Applause] [Laughter] [Music] terrifying [Music] you
