fired by her original groomer and far overdue for a cleaning these owners were desperate to find someone to help their dog this is Belle and she's a very old Newfoundland dog I can't tell you any commands I can't tell you to sit I can't tell you to do anything because you can't hear me the owners informed me that Bell is deaf but that likely won't stop me from trying to talk to her Belle seems like a nice dog and she's not overly large so I'd like to find out why the groomer refused their services oh man I'm gonna say that's the reason it didn't take me long to figure out that Belle is very weak in her back end she can't stand even for short periods of time making this job extremely physically demanding now I can understand why her current groomer decided not to continue working with her you're filthy this is by no means the fault of the dog the fault of the owner or the fault of the groomer and there are two very important reasons why a groomer would decide to stop offering their services for this dog obvious reason number one the physical demand I know groomers that have blown discs in their backs and become physically disabled all due to grooming large breed dogs there are many groomers who only groom dogs under 30 pounds and they do this with the long-term in mind in order to continue grooming until they retire they need to take care of their bodies and oftentimes that means eliminating the clients that cause the most wear and tear this is by no means personal and no client should take offense to this reason number two liability dogs like Belle might be an extreme pain after grooming have difficulty walking and or exhibit serious mental effects due to the stress of being groomed most clients are very understanding that their dog is old anything can happen during grooming and that their groomer isn't at fault for their dog's physical condition during or after the grooming but there are also many other clients that are in denial of their dog's age and mobility issues and they are quick to hold a groomer liable for this reason many groomers opt out of working with senior pets foreign how exhausting this screw might be it is so damn satisfying I did my best to allow Belle to sit and lay down as much as possible throughout this room I only use my belly band to keep her standing while I worked on her back end as quickly as I could because Belle physically can't stand for a lengthy time she starts to put all of her weight down on the band this is dangerous because it can cause injury this means I need to work quick and offer lots of opportunities for her to lay down foreign I went through her with my matte splitter and my Coral Slicker brush if you're new to my channel I sell the majority of my grooming products on my website girlwiththedogs.com eventually Belle could no longer sit so I completed the remainder of her groom with her laying down obviously this makes things difficult but the end result doesn't need to be Perfection it just needs to be good enough your back ones are pretty short but her front dew claw is curled I felt it when I was breathing her that was a curly one I shave out her paw pads and of course I trim up her Grinch feet I sprayed Bell down in bubble gum cologne and she lost an entire other Newfoundland of fur her before and after is spectacular Bell was having trouble walking after her groom but fortunately her owners informed me that she was back to her normal Mobility by the evening hours thank you all so much for watching I hope you enjoyed the Beloved Bell
