THE WASTELAND THAT IS SLAB CITY - What They Don’t Want You To Know

[Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] I had to make a trip down to Nylund which is just outside of slab city there's a bunch of abandoned buildings in here so I thought I might pull over and see if I could take a look around one all the windows and doors are open some killer graffiti on it I thought I might try to get some footage so I may sneak inside of here and see what I can see I had to come to Nilan to get some internet because there is none back in Slab City [Applause] I thought I might stop at the fire department asked them about fires in Slab City because it's such a big concern to everyone see the truth [Music] I just had a very interesting conversation I had the pleasure to meet three firefighters that are at the Nile and Fire Station so I asked them I said you guys are the fire station that is required to respond to slap city fires and they said yes and so they said yes and so right after that I asked him so what's that like what's it like having to be the one to respond to the slab city fires and they replied very simply it sucks so I dug a little deeper I said okay well I said so it it is true that they do burn each other out and a lot of bad stuff goes down out there and they said that it is absolutely horrible just marinate on that for a minute people are telling me that it's safe and that this stuff doesn't happen out here and I kind of have to take the word of the firefighters I mean sure they see all the negativity they see all the bad stuff so they see all this bad stuff they see all the negativity they see all the crime and the violence and damage that happens from these people doing it to each other and he said it's absolutely horrible so they were concerned for my safety they said you know don't spend too much time out there they were oh you're going on a call right now there they go but that's the thing about slab city it's real it is real they do burn each other down they do hurt each other and some bad stuff happens out here so if you come out here it's not all smiles and rainbows and trees and happy flowers and all that stuff sorry it's not be aware be safe I was at the I was at a place called the Ponderosa in Slab City hanging out they were playing music and everybody was having a good time and one of the lead musicians his name is Eyre racket you can subscribe to him on YouTube he's a slab city resident that has his own YouTube channel I'll put his link in the description below but his name is Eyre racket on YouTube and I started asking him you know how do you guys feel about people who make videos about slab city and all that how do you feel about people who put up YouTube videos about slab city and the coverage that comes from people coming in here and he told me just don't make us look bad just don't make us look like they really look I think I get a horrible feeling from this place and that's not me being negative that's me seeing the truth of what it's like out here it's not a positive experience for me it's not I came out here cuz I wanted to show you guys what slap City was like and I don't like what it's like not at all but I was in town I was filling up some water I grabbed a couple groceries and I'm heading back out to Slab City reluctantly but I'm gonna spend a day or two more here and I don't feel I don't feel like I've had closure yet and I don't feel like I've really finished what I was doing but I'll be I'll be moving on soon there's an abandoned building over here all tagged up I want to go inside and check it out [Applause] [Applause] there's definitely been people living in here but it doesn't seem to be anybody here now [Applause] that room is the one that is like a bathroom well guys I just wanted to do a little voiceover on this video because it wasn't the most exciting abandoned exploration that there's ever been on YouTube but it was my first one and I wanted to put it up as you can see there's some cool graffiti here and I just wanted to kind of showcase the graffiti and niland is marginally better than slab city but only marginally so we okay we are and we have okay okay everything is okay this reminds me of the explorers when I was a kid I flew through space on a thing they built that they saw on the dream it's just like this I think the controls are made up of a Casio [Music] don't know why but when you put a thought on a TV it makes a statement hmm [Music] Oh Johnny number five what have they done to you is Johnny number five alive no disassemble okay Johnny you'll make it you'll be okay Johnny number five paid
