The UNDERTALE Soul Colors You Never Knew Existed! Underale Theory | UNDERLAB

[Music] hello and welcome back to on the lab today's ferry is a very interesting one suggested to me by my patron Mary Morgan who's gone into great depth suggesting how there could be different soul colors now what's really curious about this idea is that there there isn't necessarily much evidence pointing to it while we play through on detail it makes perfect sense and the idea itself can actually tell us a lot more about the souls of the six fallen humans in game just what exactly do I mean by that then well I'll be explaining soon enough this is also a good opportunity to talk about the souls in general which are a vaguely very important concepts within undertale there's a lot to go through so I'll just get straight into things and so it's time to find out about the soul colors of undertale you never even knew existed [Music] now we probably all know the seven cell colors there's red the color of our soul then this orange the color of bravery sign become of patience blue the color of integrity green the color of kindness yellow the color of justice and purple the color of perseverance however we're never actually told much about them nor is it confirmed whether those the only soul colors within the game there's at least one more of course white the color of a monster's soul before I talk about different colors let's briefly focused specifically on red why red well it's our soul color as well as charas as we find out by inspecting the coffin in Oscars basement the strangest thing about it though is that we never learn what it represents many people speculate that red simply means determination but as we learn within the true lab or human source of determination that's what allows them to persist after death so red probably means something else what about hope when we die we're told that the future of humans and monsters depends on us there it seems to actually be referring to Chara regardless perhaps this indicates that we're a symbol of hope along with our red soul otherwise as I've suggested before it could mean purpose someone with a red soul is clearly driven with a purpose in mind even if that's to kill every monster they come across or to set them free still this isn't conclusive proof you probably want something more than just an observation so how about this by combining yellow and magenta you get red magenta can a voice for purple pink in other words the soul that represents perseverance and as we already know yellow represents justice so if we're to take anything from this does that mean that Reds it's also a combination of the traits justice and perseverance well it's very easy to see what's perseverant about frisk you could also argue that we deliver justice in the form we believe is appropriate for our undertale on the genocide path for example you probably doesn't think of frisk as being very just however there's no denying that you're still justice in the respect that you're the one deciding who lives and who dies even if that decision is to kill everyone there for perseverance and justice really does make perfect sense should we apply them to frisk you may want to argue that's I could just as easily apply the other traits to the character but is that necessarily true think about this councilís bravery and patience all seem like they would be applicable to frisk however those who lose all meaning on the genocide path there's nothing brave or patient about hunting down every month that we meet and obviously kindness is the last trait you it's a sign to a genocide your phrase of the six traits are our perseverance and justice remain the most appropriate for frisk and they matter which part we go on and so it seems that Reds really does represent a merging of the two what does this have to do different soul colors though well that's really how you work out the traits the color represents by combining those you already know then all manner of chasing color combinations are possible indicating what the world of humans in undertale might be like now this starts to make even more sense shoots relook at the combinations of other colors sign a magenta make a dark blue and so that's combining patience and perseverance doesn't that sound a lot like integrity you show patience by sticking to your beliefs and perseverance and committing to them in other words integrity yellow and Simon green which is justice and patience combining to make kindness now if we think of justice as meaning someone who decides the face of others it's only natural that we get kindness should you add spacies to the equation if you represented both patience and justice you'd surely take your time before making a judgement leading you to a more reasonable conclusion a lot like how Toria lacks we've been the ruins is pretty fascinating how possible and logical the soul colors are this leads on to why that could very well be different soul colors other than the ones we see in game for example what would the lightest shade of orange indicate rather than bravery maybe something in the same vein but not quite as potent such as courage or willpower meanwhile a darker shade could very well indicate a more serious version of the tree that lacks the balance of being in the center such as zero or arrogance and from here we can start to work out what truly unique soul colors are surely out there within the world of undertale magenta may be perseverance that combines with dark blue meaning integrity used to make a sort of purple what does that possibly mean then well it should be a combination of perseverance and integrity luckily meaning there to be someone very committed to their beliefs that color codes represent faith as in faith in one's ideas or maybe something like dedication rather than any of the six traits we already know and funny enough once so color we never see in-game is brown but brown is a result of all the colors mixing together what good's brown possibly mean then well I fear eyes that white could represent possession of all the major trades but perhaps this only applies to monsters brown souls could be in the equivalent of a monsters white soul meaning a human with a soul that color has all the major traits within them and isn't defined by any single one last or it could simply mean no trait is yet to rise to the surface as if you have an equal part of something as subjective as a multitude of traits is there really any that distinguishes you then of course you could always go outside the color spectrum what would a black soul indicate the most logical guess is that it could represent a complete lack of any redeeming traits as is void of all colors and therefore all characteristics rather than having any sort of ambition desire or moral code you acts without any clear purpose this could very well be in the color charas so turns at the end of the genocide path while we know their soul was originally red we know they had to borrow the players power in order to come back to life and so I can very easily believe that Chavez soul if they still even have one has become corrupted beyond all measure therefore perhaps it's sensible to conclude that the darker a soul becomes the more evil the person is also mentions before a darkened orange goods indicate more extreme versions of bravery such as zero these traits can easily be turned towards more negative emotions which isn't too surprising considering that they're closer to having no trait at all than they are to possessing multiple traits you can probably see what I mean now how this idea tells us more about the seven soul colors than we see in-game we now know that each trait is a merging of others to create something new and from that we can work out entirely new traits and the implications of what a dark or light soul me indicate this theory gains almost a credibility from the facts that defining the entirety of humanity is falling into just one of seven words seems a bit absurd and it makes much more sense there's plenty of other colors and traits out there along with the possibility of various shades of the same color meaning different things so in conclusion the amount of souls out there is as varied as the entire color palette if you can combine two colors to make a new one you can keep coming up with different traits there's undoubtedly a color for most every aspect of songs' personality out there such as jealousy and politeness those who are cowardly or may be forgetful there's pretty much endless opportunities it just so happens that the colors of the rainbow where the wants to get trapped underground in fact that's a pretty convenient thing as it allows us to work out what other soul colors could possibly mean you can see how this theory applies to who Charlie was as well they were able to determine the fate of thousands of monsters through their own perseverance a lot like frisk this also opens up the exciting possibility that there's a lot more to soul magic than we first fought and the potential existence of the terrifying black soul may tell us something about what happened to Chara that's why they're able to come back through completion of the genocide route it's also tell us a little about human society and to enter this on a very interesting note keep in mind it was seven Magi who seals monster kinda way seven souls are required to in turn shut in the barrier could it be that the specific shades of so as we see in game of the most powerful and that's why they contain so much power perhaps it's also how the Magi were able to seal monster kinds underground and even harness magic in the first place well it's just food for for now I wonder what a rainbow salt would be like [Music] what's a colorful episode it's interesting to think of the major colors Toby didn't choose to include and the interesting implications or things like brown and black souls it's also interesting to think that saw was probably only game pigmentation when a certain trait manifests but for some reason this never happens for monsters with all the various possibilities out there well so color do you think you would
