[Music] hello there today my good Survivor we are doing a tier list of the positive traits as far as we know nothing is set to change before build 42 comes out whenever that will be I already did a guide video going through the positive traits in more depth which will be in the description explaining what the impact is on your playthrough but here we will rank them based on their usefulness these are my thoughts on these traits and at the end of the day you can build your character however you want to make things simpler they will be ranked based on either being a quote unquote musthave or strong use for your build situational use based on the type of playthrough you are doing and ones that are just not worth taking or for very Niche playthroughs settle in with a cup of coffee Survivor join me by the Fireside with our favorite friends the invisible turkeys to keep us company and let us begin first up to the plate is speed demon in my previous positive traits video I did say that it wasn't that great due to the The increased engine noise when reversing however after playing with it a bit more and realizing that this trait is actually a really good one to take the increased speed slightly increases vehicle torque making off-roading with slower vehicles and towing heavy trailers much easier when normally you might get stuck Speed Demon can help pull you out of a sticky situation the downside to this will be one of two things one you will drive faster so in sports cars you will most likely crash if you aren't careful two is the increased engine loudness that I mentioned earlier if you aren't careful and Reverse by mistake you could end up drawing a lot of your Undead friends to your location however you could use this to your advantage to lure Zeds away from locations that you want to loot all in all I'd put this one in8 tier just be careful around this one and make sure your reaction times when driving are good so cat size cat eyes increases your vision at night as a player who enjoys nighttime missions this one has always helped a ton in most cases you won't have to use a flashlight and waste those valuable batteries however if you aren't a player who enjoys going out at night you can get away with not taking this one it works very well with multiplayer as sleep is turned off and you will have more time in the day to do things which most likely means going out at night it's quite cheap too so I'm putting this one in s tier for the quality of life it gives giving 50% increased inventory transferring time makes dextrous a solid quality of life choice it helps when you need to loot an area quickly and makes General management of loot a much smoother experience in my opinion a very solid choice for all you loot goblins out there so I'm putting it in s tier fast reader is a great choice for multiplayer because you can't speed up time in multiplayer it helps with getting through skill books much faster even if the server has boosted the skill book reading times it is still a worthwhile consideration when your character has died and you need to spend ages rereading all the skill books which without some help can be and eye clawing grind it's more of a quality of life in a Solo playthrough because of the time speed up but definitely a strong if not a must pick in multiplayer for this reason I'll put it in B tier Outdoorsman provides you a whole host of benefits for the Mega two points of costs reduce chances of catching a cold less chances of getting hurt when moving through trees and more what's not to love this will come in handy when the winter sets in and your character is vulnerable to catching a cold due to exposure coughs act as an involuntary Q press and will draw zombies in which we don't want Outdoorsman is especially necessary if you like to pick prone to illness as a negative trait it's a staple trait that in my opinion goes straight to Esa wakeful reduces tiess gain by 30% as well as 25% faster tightness recovery when sleeping it allows you to get more done in a day by sleeping less as well as directly influencing your stamina throughout your daily activities I'd say this one goes in high 8er iron gut reduces your chance to get food illness by 50% along with a supposed reduction to how long it lasts food poisoning only comes from eating rotten or uncooked food which any sane person wouldn't do I'd recommend taking weak stomach instead due to this it's honestly not worth the point so I'll be putting this in F tier angler gives you a bonus to fishing as well as the knowledge to craft and repair fishing rods from day one fishing is a solid way to sustain yourself foodwise and having a boost to fishing helps a ton if that's how you're planning on feeding yourself in the long term especially if you are near a river High B tier okay so the weapon specific traits are all really good and are entirely situational depending on what weapon type you want to focus on in your playthrough one isn't necessarily better than the other and it falls down to personal preference so for this reason they will all most likely fall into the situational category baseball player provides a bonus to Long blunt which is a pretty strong weapon type beat here for this bad boy Brave is a really good trade for managing Panic overall it reduces Panic gain from all sources except for phobias and night terrors by 70% which is hard to turn down it's especially good for close combat Focus builds and really good for reducing Reliance on beta blockers unfortunately it is mutually exclusive to the negative Panic traits like cowardly for example so you can't cancel out the point cost that way nevertheless it is a really strong trade which will only get better over time as your natural Panic reduction rate increases this baby goes in a tier if you watched my positive trades guide video you'll know that first aid is pretty me in the current state of the game the first aid skill doesn't affect your healing speed only how often you will need to change your bandages and also helps a little with broken bones which happen very rarely if you're careful enough in most cases bandaging your wounds and allowing them to heal will work just fine for this reason first AER goes straight to F tier you will be fine with leveling the skill passively Gardener gives you a bonus to farming as well as the knowledge to to create sprays to heal plant diseases farming is not a difficult skill to level and you will gain that knowledge quite quickly as time progresses you will be fine without taking this and in my opinion your points are better spent elsewhere F tier graceful is an interesting one it gives 40% reduced footstep noise and less chance to trip when vaulting or bumping into your neighbors in the current state of the game sound based stealth is far more reliable than Side based stealth now graceful comes in handy when playing with sprinters especially with the reduced chance to trip playing with sprinters requires a more specialized play style as you will be doing a whole lot of running and most likely a whole lot of tripping when you're trying to get away I'll put this one in high B tier but definitely an A or an S if you choose to play with sprinters inconspicuous is a noob trap on paper the 50% less chance of being spotted by zombies looks good but this is actually not the case in regards to stealth and how zombie aggro currently works and project zomboid you will be spotted almost always when you step into a zombie's cone of vision so you are actually better off taking conspicuous and using the increased chance to get spotted from that as a tool to manit hordes for this straight to FTI with you light eater is a good quality of life trade that reduces hunger rate by 25% the reduced hunger rate means you will have to carry less food with you and your food supplies will last longer you will be fine without taking this though it's more for if you want to reduce the inconvenience of having to eat more often and carry an Unholy amount of food items in your inventory taking up unnecessary space so for the pure quality of life this trade brings I'll put it in beer so lucky provides a 10% increase to finding rare loot this trait cannot be picked in multiplayer and in all honesty I don't think it makes that much of a difference sure when I tested this trait I sometimes found more generators and so on but then again it could just be luck of the draw or I was just blessed by orange yees for this I'll put it in detail nutritionist allows you to see the nutritional values of food types sure it sounds good on paper but with a good knowledge of your food types or the wiki you will honestly be fine not taking this one it doesn't provide that much value to Warren taking it straight to FTA baby resilience is the positive version of prone to illness and gives a reduced chance to catch a cold and a 25% slower rate of zomb ification getting nibbled on in Project zomboid means death no matter what you do taking prone to illness will still give you around a day to lock up your body and the chance to catch a cold is remedied by taking Outdoorsman I'm going to put this in D I was debating if but let's be kind here Runner provides a bonus to sprinting if you're playing with shamblers I don't feel it's worth the points as your base walking speed outruns them with shamblers leveling sprinting passively over time works just fine however this turns into an st tra for if you choose to play with sprinters on the Boost to sprinting will help keep you alive if not essential for it because of this it's a situational trait that I feel should go in C tier depending on what you want to do in your playthrough but will definitely be an a tier for Sprinter playthrough tailoring can be a bit of a pain in the ass to grind especially at higher levels SE provides a boost to tailoring which is a very strong skill however again this is situational and not strictly necessary to take if you have the stomach for a little bit of a grind you can level tailoring with the use of skill books and a few key VHS tapes so this one is more for quality of life or a focused build in multiplayer tough call on this one but I'm putting it in CTF amateur mechanic provides a boost to mechanics as well as the knowledge to repair and maintain common and commercial vehicles right out of the Starting Gate sure mechanics can be a bit of a pain to grind especially at higher levels but honestly with skill books Car Zone tapes and the magazines being relativ easy to find I think this one is not worth the points unless you are going for a mechanic focused build for your group in multiplayer D tier moving on to gymnast gymnast is great for the Nimble bonus as this will affect your movement speed during combat which is good for fighting larger groups and avoiding being swarmed because Nimble is an absolute nightmare to level adding gymnast to your build will help a ton with the bonus to Nimble the bonus to lightf footed isn't much to write home about though all in all I'll put this one in high eight here brawler falls into the situational category but penny for pound it provides bonuses to two very strong melee weapon types long blunt and axxe it's the only positive trait that gives a bonus to axe aside from the occupations so if you're playing Lumberjack or Fire officer this works very well as a trade Choice personally I enjoy using axes so I tend to take this when I go for a close combat focused build in multiplayer beer so considering that that the recipe buff from cook is currently broken that leaves us with the bonus to cooking which isn't the best cooking at higher levels can help a lot but isn't strictly necessary and in most of my playthroughs leveling cooking has been far from difficult so it would be a waste of points to take in my opinion straight to FTI with you Eagle eyed gives you a wider field of view and causes zombies to fade from your vision 50% slower however getting into the habit of having good situational awareness and using your peepers properly makes Eagle eyed not really worth taking in my opinion it's quite Hefty at six points which can be used Elsewhere for very little worthwhile gain I was considering putting this in F tier but I feel a low D would be best fast healer increases your recovery time for injuries by 20% as we discovered before in the current state of the game most injuries will heal just fine with bandages and a little time so essentially fast healer would be a waste of points the 20% increased rate isn't is n tangible enough to make a significant difference fast healer would be a good option to take if you tend to get caught out a lot but in my opinion taking slow healer would actually be better CER fast learner provides a 30% XP boost to all skills except for fitness and strength which is hard to turn down if you aren't a fan of the grind assuming you are playing with a default XP modifier in your playr it makes those harder level skills like maintenance and tailoring a little easier although I think it would be better for a short playthrough versus a long one AER stepping into the Adaptive trade category fit sets your Fitness level to six Fitness is arguably the longest skill to level next to numble and has drastic effects on your playthrough influencing everything from running stamina combat stamina and even your block chance when you get damag from zombies definitely not a bad option to take to get your Fitness to a reasonable level this will also be replaced by athletic When You Reach Fitness level 9 but good luck with that a tier former Scout provides a bonus to foraging and to First Aid of these two the foraging bonus is probably the most worthwhile seeing as you can find pretty much everything with foraging a bonus to it wouldn't hurt however penny for pound this is not worth it at 6 points you really aren't getting anything tangible for your investment deter for this one this brings us to herbalist a bit of a weird trade because it's effectively rendered obsolete if you can find the herbalist magazine in your playthrough which will teach you all the recipes that the trade provides at a Sixpoint cost it's worth running around to find the magazine rather the only time I'd recommend taking this would be if you plan on running with the negative trait illiterate so for this reason D tier I mentioned in my positive trades guide that I feel hiker is overshadowed by the hunter trade hiker gives you a bonus to foraging and trapping alongside the knowledge to craft traps to survive out in the wild it does provide a bonus to foraging radius which isn't too bad however Hunter provides you a better package for slightly more cost I'll put this one in CTI Keen hearing increases your perception radius around your character so you can spot your neighbors trying to nibble on your shoulder much sooner quite handy to have I'd say this one comes down to personal preference some players swear by this trait some find it okay to play without it runs along the lines of being more quality of life than being absolutely key for every playr group even though it does increase the perception radius quite a bit it's rather expensive for something that good situational awareness could solve for this reason I'll be putting this in AER low thirst reduces your thirst rate gain by 50% a decent quality of life trade for players who don't want to be bothered with carrying around three water bottles when on extended loot runs although water is rather plentiful around the map so you shouldn't have to worry about that in general works very well on longer playthroughs but isn't really necessary for shorter ones CER organized increases container sizes by 30% which is huge as I know most of you out there are loot goblins at heart this will help you increase your loot stock pile even more let's not forget the fact that car trunks can go as high as 200 kilos of storage space which means you can spend longer out on loot runs in my opinion one of the best quality of life traits out there so I'll put this one in s tier Stout is the younger cousin to strong and provides extra knock back from melee weapons and increases carrying capacity due to it setting your strength to level six it's an Adaptive trait that is replaced by strong when you get to level 9 strength is more or less easier to level than Fitness and is a very good choice for pretty much most builds out there into at youo the crackhead trait adrenaline junkie increases your movement speed when at high states of Panic it's a Pity that they made it mutually exclusive to the other Panic traits aside from fear of blood so you can't abuse The increased panic gain from them so all in all for the eight points it costs he won't be able to properly proc the bonus so I think this one should go in F tier perhaps it may be changed in the near future to make it more viable again handy provides a bonus to carpentry as well as maintenance it's the go-to trade for spear builds as it will allow you to craft Max condition Spears much sooner as well as have them last longer aside from that just having the bonus to maintenance makes a skill that already takes a while to level a little faster definitely a tier for this bad boy Hunter provides a solid package for the points that you invest it provides bonuses to aiming short blade sneaking and trapping along with the cheeky knowledge to craft all traps from day one if you're faced with former Scout or Hunter I'd recommend taking this one as it is very well-rounded he tier in my trades guide video I dived a little deeper into the thick skinned versus thin skin debate thick skinned increases the chances of not being damaged by zombies by 30% along on with less chances of being hurt when moving through trees to summarize our discoveries regarding thick skinned thick skinned increases your Dodge chance when being damaged by zombies damage takes into account a host of factors such as your block chance your current clothing protection your Fitness and your strength with all of these factors considered thick skin provides you with around a 6 to 8% increase chance to not be damaged which honestly is not a lot if you are careful it's very costly but at the end of the day it comes comes down to personal preference I'm putting this in D Athletics sets your Fitness to level 9 which is an absolute God sand or a skill that can take literal in-game months to level and one that provides numerous benefits for your playthrough in general both the Adaptive traits of athletic and strong are very strong choices for almost every build so I'm putting this straight to S TI strong sets your strength at level 9 and provides 40% increased melee damage increased knockback from melee weapons and increase carrying capacity for your main inventory it also serves to nullify the debuffs from underweight or very underweight so most definitely a worthwhile pick s tier for this one that's a wrap for the positive trades tier list what are your thoughts do you agree or disagree let me know in the comments thank you for watching if you like the video consider dropping a like and subscribing and if there's anything else you want me to cover pop it in the comments below good luck out there Survivor and I will see you in the next one
