The TUNNEL RUN in Alpe D'Huez, How to Ski it...

alright guys welcome to this POV video for let tunnel one of the steepest probably the steepest black run maybe in France or in the Alps or whatever it's a famous run of ALP d'Huez along with the Saran which is the longest back around the world and they both start from the same place the top of lepak Blanc which is highest peak in alpe d'huez 3,300 meters on just below the summit I took this glassy a chairlift up instead of the regular cable car because it's a bit busy and yet we're starting down basically what is the top of the Suren and we're going to turn right in just a moment to go to the tunnel I'm gonna do a little bit of a variation going off a close run which I guess you know counts as kind of an off piste section since the run is closed if you wanted to though you could just take the next right which is more like a road which goes to the tunnel going this way just a little bit more interesting you get to do a bit more of an exciting run okay so there's that run down there it's gonna tighten up my boots as well for you know for an extreme steep black run you definitely want to have tightened you know tight boots don't want to be sliding around in there okay so we're just gonna you know go forward out we're gonna go down this little off beast or closed run variation to the tunnel like we said it's just a little bit more interesting a little bit more fun than going down something which is essentially a road as you'll see in a minute you see now right as well that's the classier teller that goes up which is a great alternative to getting to the and after getting to loop of elliptic bonk instead of taking the cable car which can often have a long lines you can see the road down below us a road like run which leads to the tunnel people going down there this run that's literally just under us now we'll be joining that in just a second and you can also see the tunnel entrance which is that building snow on the roof and you can see now to the right at the frame okay get it down and turn left onto this one it's too cheap to road forks see the time translator in front of us okay once you get in the tunnel you'll see see this sign down here pieced trades if the seal very hard slope kind of funny you can see people turning back as well that's kind of something you see often cuz some people they go through the tunnel and then they you know they stand on the edge in the light where I'm not doing that I'm turning back no shame in that you know if you're not good enough you don't want to you know want to hurt yourself have an injury or anything so yeah now we're in a tunnel it is slightly sloping down so you can actually slide without having to skate depends on your skis though my skis were freshly waxed so they were really nice and slick I could go quite fast obviously these guys looks like they hadn't waxed their skis and yeah you can you can't overtake people in the talk just be polite you know I think people are ok with it if you're genuinely you know your skis are faster than theirs so yeah you'll see I just go past this guy yeah and yet this is the end of the task so it's it's really short and we get out onto this sort of thin ledge which looks out over the steepest last run in the Alps I guess and you'll notice a lot of these people standing here they don't appear to be doing much maybe they're taking photos or just chatting or looking at it deciding if they're going to do it or not so don't necessarily think that this is a line that you have to wait in release this is my thinking about it you know some of these people maybe are lining up I don't know but they're kind of doing it in a chilled way there may be dreading going over the edge so if you're a good skier I think it's okay to just kind of go past them and which is what I choose to do here obviously if someone makes a fuss about it then you know just be polite and let them go first you want to get into a fight on a thin ledge about this and you can see what this guy says I'm gonna go yeah okay so yeah you see that he just asked me if I was a bit skier I said yeah I was I'm gonna go and he was fine with it right now I make a little bit of a steak here I go too far and you can see a lot of people they go all the way the end and then they end up waiting because it's so steep they're afraid to turn like this lady here and this guy the snowboard so I should have actually turned earlier because I ended up looking like a bit of a douchebag just standing there like you know if I'd turned I would have actually probably hit them or sprayed snow all over them or whatever so I if you do do that make that mistake just slide backwards and wait until you've got you some nice snow or you know enough space to turn or whatever and now we're going on the right a lot of people standing around on here a lot of people who really aren't good enough to be there but you know it's a famous run so everyone wants to do it so you are definitely gonna get a lot of people who aren't really up to your standards okay whatever it's a learning experience conditions on this run on this particular day are quite good in previous years the moguls have been massive so you know this year if you're trying to do this with large Mobile's it becomes even more treacherous so it's cool that you know we do it had some fresh snow mobiles hadn't really formed yet so or you know not too big anyway so you did have maybe you could do it a little bit more more flowing a little box like and we're just taking a look at what we've come down it looks pretty extreme from the bottom and so that's basically the end of a really hard steep section and we're now into more of a regular black run type of type of run now which is a little bit more you know you can kind of chill out now you have to concentrate so much there's still a few steep sections to come and there is a little bit of a run out on this section so you do need to tuck down into a fist reasonably soon to keep your speed they'll see it ahead of me sometimes you know there are mobile so you don't want to do it too early as soon as those mobile Stoppers bump stop yeah like now yeah keep your speed okay we're now on the peace did section you can see the groomed you know the quarter I'd top section isn't groomed it's too steep but now we're on a groomed section and I didn't quite have enough speed there we go another shot of the top section there looks pretty cool and yeah you have to skate or you know push with your poles a little bit but obviously if you tuck down into a shirt a little bit earlier you should be able to keep your speed pretty much all the way to this little air it'll call people standing around checking out the view snowboarders they're always sitting down all right and now we've got quite a fun section definitely a black slope quite steep but really nicely groomed and pretty slick and fast so let's enjoy this section [Applause] not sure where those guys went off to on the right maybe some other variation I think it just you know just warps and then rejoins but I chose to go this way by myself less people always good and scheme faster those guys are on the right joining the run and we've got one more steep section coming up it's just a short steep session you can basically ski straight down it in just a second and see its bit on the left as well I believe that's where another run that has existed in previous years joins the tunnel but actually that run isn't on the current piece map for Alvarez I don't from the existing and yet this is just the last little section of steepness you can actually pretty much ski straight down it after a couple of turns or I actually almost fell that hit a bit of ice but yeah now it's going straight down to the final little chairlift that's gonna take us back up to the electric bomb it'll cut and that's a wrap guys let's huddle steep us black running out of in Europe or something maybe or maybe not
