The Timmy Turner Movies (A Fairly Odd Saga)

civilization human culture has always been at least a little bit stuck on the past and that's something that has always reflected in the media of every generation in the 1950s people were obsessed with the mob culture of the 1920s fast forward to the80s and Cinema was suddenly all about capturing the diners cars and culture of the ' 50s and of course Hollywood's most recent calling card has become obsessively recapping 80s Nostalgia and franchises Ghostbusters Voltron Gremlins before we're gone everything from the 8S will be back in one form or another but now that we've entered current year 2016 it feels as if that Nostalgia wave is finally catching up to the late 1990s and early 2000s the very time where I was born and raised and the biggest evidence to this is how various companies and studios are are now promising or perhaps threatening to bring back those era defining properties this includes Nickelodeon who are currently planning revivals of such Classics as Hey Arnold Rocco's Modern Life and Rugrats just to name a few and one show that I really think deserves to be brought back more than any other is the Fairly Odd Parents a classic Nick tune about a boy and his magical god parents which was cancelled in 2006 just as it felt like it was reaching its peak I'm being factious of course because the Fairly Odd Parents is somehow still on the air in current year 206 and it's terrible seeing a show you love go off the air just when it's getting good can be painful but what's nearly as bad is watching that for consistency what's next a talking dog with radical attitude no seriously that's what they did next i bark [Applause] budny he's totally in my face and now these genius writers have decided to introduce another brand new character to the cont um Chloe carmichel a sassy new Teen who shares Timmy's godparents and definitely isn't going to get the show cancelled but through all these controversies and mistakes none of these are the worst when it comes to the many fairly odd blunders glorious viewers of current year 2016 I present grow up Timmy Turner a 2011 movie set 10 years after the original series with which is intended to be a finale of sorts does it live up to the original show let's find out he's so cute when he sleeps I'm little angel shh don't wake him up happy birthday Wanda Cosmo what are you guys crazy you're a grown man still wearing horsey pajamas and you're asking if we're crazy crazy with excitement happy 23rd birthday wao thanks guys go ahead poof give it to him thanks poof so we open the film on the birthday party of our protagonist Timmy Turner km and wander revealed that a massive surprise is in store to celebrate 23 years of Tim Tim as they have magicked up a ship of pirates that crashes into Timmy's bedroom so he can practice stabbing people in the ass to the right to the left everything you own in a box to the left not even 5 minutes in and already this film is so outrageous that it hardly feels real and perhaps the biggest issue is the elephant in the room Drake Bell seen here playing an aged up Timmy Turner but perhaps aged up is a bit of a misnomer because as the Pirates are defeated and liveaction jorgan appears we learn what's going on in the original series it was often stated that fairy god parents are meant to be gifted to children who have bitter lives and need that extra support but when children grow too old break the rules or obtain happy lives the fairies get taken away and the child's memories are wiped of their God Parents in fact Siri antagonist Crocker was eventually given the tragic backstory that Cosmo and Wanda were once his fairy god parents until his memories being wiped drove him insane anywh who in this film we learn that Timmy Cosmo and Wanda eventually figured out a loophole of sorts Dar rules apparently defines growing up in very specific terms to meet these standards a child must either grow up move out of his family home or fall in love the only girl I've ever kissed was T it was 13 years ago it was forced upon me and I did not enjoy it look out anyway she moved away and no one ever saw her again so to recap while in his 20s Timmy still lives with his parents maintains an emotional attachment to his childhood possessions and doesn't have a love life but that's all pretty standard he is a millennial after all the really weird thing that Timmy does to maintain his fairies is he has remained in elementary school yes Timmy Turner is a 23-year-old in the fifth grade who hangs out with 10-year-olds all day and the literal only person who thinks this is weird is Crocker rle me this class how does a 23-year-old man still managed to stay in the fifth grade all these years how does he do it how is it even possible hm now briefly ignoring that by these standards there were numerous points in the original series where Timmy would have have become an adult by these qualifications is this really the natural progression of these characters the idea of Timmy losing his fairies always came across like one of the most adult parts of the original series because in many ways that is what it feels like to grow up there are people in your life and experiences you'll have that one day you have to let go of and there is some part of the childhood experience that will always be hard to understand once you're an adult and I guess you could argue that this would be the future that Tera strong strong Timmy would imagine himself going on to have and it's certainly in character with late stage episodes like Timmy secret wish but the really weird part to me is how Cosmo and Wanda just go along with it in fact they almost act like it was their idea in the first place that feels totally detached from their characterization in the original show or at least their characterization when the show was good also the fairies in this interpretation are generally just weird in writing yes but more importantly in execution in the original show the characters had balance the fairies were present in every moment and felt like an extension of that world Cosmo and Wanda we as much people as everyone else in the show but in this film it's like the fairies were a last minute Edition they're not given a lot of dialogue usually so they mostly just fly around the screen stemming whenever no one is directly paying attention to them a God child loses his fairies when he grows up not me he leaves home not me love well again it gets really annoying really quickly and never feels connected to whatever else is going on and if you take a drink every time Drake Bell is staring blankly into space at nothing in particular you'll find yourself at an AA meeting by the first commercial break when you do movies like this you're supposed to supply Aid to the actors to give them hints about the final production you know markers and balloons and that kind of thing and if something goes wrong you have the animation match the choices of the actors and even if the implementation of these effects had been seamless it wouldn't erase the fact that they're all just ghastly creatures there's something to be said about the common yet delicate process of turning 2D characters into 3D models now for many eras of Animation this can be pretty much seamless as many art styles are designed to have that realistic feel if you look at any Disney princess it's pretty easy to imagine them spinning around in 360 but other animated stories have a very stylized look meant only to be seen on a flat plane so when you try to bring them into the 3D space they just look creepy this has been a major problem since day one with this franchise look at any typical example of attempts to represent these characters in in merchandise or Hell take a glance at the Jimmy Timmy Power Hour that series of specials featured the Fairly Odd Parents and Jimmy Neutron cast swapping art styles while very few characters transitioned well the worst affected were Cosmo and Wanda the biggest issue is that the Fairly Odd Parents is drawn in an isometric three quarters perspective this means that the characters are are kind of looking forward and kind of looking to the side which explains a lot of the character design quirks which are present it looks good in 2D but when you take those same details and turn them into a plush or a toy or a 3D animation it doesn't look right faults like these you can accept in the Jimmy Timmy films because the entire charm was seeing these characters outside of their usual arena in this film film that excuse doesn't work and it's made worse by how disturbingly realistic everyone's skin is something about the texture just throws me off it reminds me of those weird postpartum depression dolls you see on Etsy not to mention all the weird details like how Cosmo has this thin red outline around his mouth that makes him look like he has chapped lips or that he's wearing Joker makeup or something obviously there is a way to depict 2D character in the 3D plane without it feeling totally uncanny look at the Peanuts movie that came out last year made by Blue Sky Studios characters here are animated with a nonliteral sculpt meant only to be seen from one angle of course the Peanuts movie essentially invented entirely new technology to achieve this but you can find a similar mentality to how the characters were depicted in the earliest Fairly Odd Parents video games which do a much better job of simulating these isometric designs in 3D but on that note if the liveaction and animated material are ultimately never going to be cohesive why not just do what Ned's Declassified did and make Cosmo and Wanda 2D animated surely that would look much better than whatever the hell is going on here moving on to other subjects if there's any silver lining to this film it's the guy playing Crocker the first time I watched this I was seriously convinced that he was dubbed over by the original actor but no he's just doing that solid of an impersonation although I do have to take some criticism at the film's failure to capture even the most basic elements of his character design his ears go on his neck come on people it's basic anatomy jorgan and Timmy's dad are also perfectly achieved in fact Timmy's dad really is played by Darren Norris who also voices the character also weird aside did you know that from the beginning of the oak cartoons and to this very day Cosmo and Wanda have always had the same voice actors as Tim's parents that's the kind of fun fact that makes your head explode spontaneously [Music] ow incidentally Mom and Dad's whole bit in this film is that they've spent the last few years desperately trying to get Timmy to off here as a 23rd birthday gift they reveal that they've sold the house and he's going to be out on his own but Timmy casually wishes that they hadn't sold the house and his parents run outside in a frenzy instantly knowing that everything has been undone you know that one episode of The Twilight Zone where that that six-year-old is like God and his entire Community is terrified of him and his unexplained omnipotence grow up Timmy Turner has that kind of energy I don't know if it's intentional but honestly sometimes it's actually pretty funny but these few positives are absolutely not the standard as the attempt to make the liveaction material seem cartoony usually ends up coming across rather Vicky with cone tits the biggest tor diale Timmy Turner Icky Vicky someone had to plan this someone had to take out a piece of paper and write down Vicky pointy boobs and that piece of paper had to go up through the chain of command it had to go through an entire process of approval and no one shot this one down it's also worth talking about how creepy it feels whenever you actually see Drake Bell fraternizing with children crazy if getting out of school early on my birthday and having more time to be a kid is crazy well then people strap me in a straight jacket so joran is trying to trick Timmy into becoming an adult through various means and his first plan involves sneaking into the school with Cupid's arrow and shooting Timmy with it however he accidentally shoots another kid by mistake Who falls in love with the school mascot but can we just stop here for a moment and question like what jorg's plan actually was jorgan was going to shoot a grown man with Cupid's arrow while he was surrounded exclusively by children this could have ended very badly but apparently Tommy doesn't need to be coerced with Cupid's arrows because he sees one woman in town doing that slow motion my pants are about to fall down and I don't have a belt walk and he decides to stalk her through town to get her attention this this leads him to the town park where we witness a press conference being hosted by a business Mogul named Hugh J magnate who has just bought the park so it can be converted into what I gather to be an oil Hotel ladies and gentlemen ever since Daddy slapped a shovel in my little hand I have been looking for fuel to run our everyday lives and so when my Hightech thermal satell lights detected a massive untapped combustible resource field under the city I decided to come here to dumale and see for myself now I don't know if it's obvious but this character the main bad guy of the movie is actually inspired by Biff Tannon from Back to the Future Part Two who was in turn inspired by Donald Trump let's say China the magnet power oil well hotel to be built on the site of this gry stinky yucky pokey little park it will produce a th000 gigabots of filthy yet reasonably affordable energy and provide decent room service yeah that's that's Trump that's Trump right there I I that's our man you know it is so frustrating how many bad guys in movies end up being weirdly veiled parodies of Donald Trump but maybe it only bothers me because I am so exhausted from his campaign Trail I tell you after Hillary wins in November I hope we never hear from this guy again also at the unite the right rally are Chester and AJ who just watch look who it is Mr never grew up Timmy Turner he's checking us out just like the lady yeah that's right Timmy T looks like AJ is all grown up and styling in a brand new Argy sweat and me Professional Security expert fighting crime with my smarty melon and multiple keys on attractable wire so the implication of this scene if you'll excuse the pun is that Chester and AJ are secretly super jelly of Tommy and that they're upset that he got to stay in the fifth grade for over a decade while they became boring adults but in reality I tend to feel bad for people I know who got held back one time so a situation like this would play out a little bit less like that and more like Tommy it's Chester remember me the fifth grade Chester and a Chester oh man Tommy I haven't seen you since you got held back in the fifth grade how you been doing no dude I'm doing great it's the highlight of Our Lives you know yeah man I get that so so what you in like college or something a yeah dude um still in the fifth grade actually are you serious my days are great they're so easy I just get to prank Cocker all day hang out with 10-year-old girls we play dodgeball I buy them ice cream it is so cool yeah man that's uh that's great look I got to like run some uh errands you know but I'll definitely talk to you later all right dude uh don't go to the park tomorrow so Trump more like drump am I right tries to start construction of his hotel but the young woman that Tommy followed into the park reveals that she is stay ing a protest as she chains herself very Loosely to a tree drump however says he doesn't care and orders the bulldozer to run over her and the tree which sounds pretty ridiculous but let's be honest with ourselves if you heard that a protester had been killed by a bulldozer at a trump rally would you really doubt it Tommy Wishes the bulldozer would stop working and it does but drumph is not deterred and orders his men to murder her with chainsaws to the celebration of everyone Tommy Wishes the chainsaws would become balloons and I guess that scene is some kind of Union difficulty and they all leave it's around this point that we find out that this character is actually Tutti that must be my mistake I keep getting these names wrong okay so who is this character for real cuti wow I got to tell you that was incredible are you serious are you not joking that's that's toy this is fine Tommy and Tootsie speak again in person and really hit it off but Tommy runs away when he remembers he can't fall in love meanwhile Trump and ianka are mulling over how their press conference didn't go to plan like how their bulldozer broke down and some chainsaws turned into balloons typical acts of God always mysteriously disrupting the lives of billionaires soon Trump is contacted by a mysterious Ally with a distorted Voice who soon reveals himself to be Crocker indeed I am isn't technology great now I kind of get what they were going for here when you have a simple show that mostly revolves around the dull status quo of a select set of characters one of the easiest ways to do an event episode is simply to dash in a new sense of stakes when I was a kid the SpongeBob movie really hooked me in this way you see Plankton started off as this gag villain trying to steal a veggie burger recipe to no avail only for him to then become a serious threat when he took over bikini bottom in the film my years of investment felt paid off and it also seemed like the stakes had never been so high but if you're going to go for this it's best to use the pre-existing mechanics of the world we already know it works a whole lot less for instance when you introduce an entirely new bad guy with less clearly defined motivations and then treat him as the big thread of the special while still presenting him as an absolute buffoon hell if you still want to do the basic plot of this special why not switch out this loser with Doug Dimmadome come on think about it this is a character all the fans know he's outright woried online and if you want to have a bad guy who is a billionaire Mogul trying to gentrify every remaining quaint part of dimsdale why not use the character who already has that defined as his stick now that I think about it the issue with this project is that most of the gags in The Fairly Odd Parents only work in animation if you try to pull over the source material directly it just feels forced but that one visual gag where Doug dimmadome's hat keeps going past the end of the screen that would kill in liveaction and just doing that one trick would almost justify this entire mess but instead of two Legacy bad guys teaming up to become a threatening yet entertaining duo we have this Crocker X some guy I don't know so back of the Turner residence the Fairley try to coach Tommy on why he's been acting so strange you've been acting sick since you saw toy in the Park yesterday sick no I I just have a cold or something yeah that's uh that's what being sick means Tommy Oh no you're falling in love with toy that means you're growing up and you'll lose us forever uh-oh that wasn't in the script Drake Bell himself on set and and that was his organic reaction the fairly's deduced that Tommy's love meter has grown meaning he's one step closer to falling in love and moving out of his parents house which means that he would have to give up Reddit or something I don't know I haven't really been uh paying a lot of attention Tootsie soon arrives to see Tommy causing his parents to shower her with praise and rice hoping to exercise him from their house we give you money livestock raisins through the power of hormones two convinces Tommy to go on a date with her and as they Ride On a Bicycle Built for Two Chester and AJ mock them from a distance this is definitely one of the details in this film that I like the least when I was a kid my all-time favorite detail of the Fairly Odd Parents was how these three guys would stick together there were so many episodes that were all about friendship and how important these guys were to Tommy and it just feels Hollow to throw all that away for the sake of some jokes about how Chester and AJ wish that they were in the fifth grade at age 23 it's just strange to me that by trying to make these characters more Goofy and generic for this format they've made the animated stories with these same characters feel much more grounded and fully realized meanwhile at drump Tower Cocker and Trump are planning a device that will allow to capture the Fairley with Cocker already having explained their existence and magical powers they also made out for a bit as well so I think they've definitely bonded by this point in the movie stake University deduces that once they steal the Fairley the only way to bring Tommy to them is to capture Tootsie as well now that I think about it I don't actually know why they need Tommy but uh they've decided they do so Tootsie and Tommy end up going on a fancy date at a restaurant and so Cosmo and Wanda decide they have to intervene as they transform into humans and are special celebrity guest stars Cheryl Hines of Curb Your Enthusiasm plays liveaction Wanda while Jason Alexander of Seinfeld Glory plays Cosmo hey fun fact did you know that Cheryl Hines is married to Robert F Kennedy Jr yeah I didn't know RFK had a either it says here on his Wikipedia page that he is the president of the Board of Water keeper Alliance which is a nonprofit focused on preserving Water Resources around the planet he's got a radio show he wrote some kids books it says here he is quote an avid Whitewater rafter and yeah that all seems pretty cool I'll have to keep an eye on what he gets up to in the next few years what are you guys doing and what have you done to yourselves we're Waiters surrogate parents to some extent I mean they are literally his god parents they're the parents Timmy has when his biological parents are away and while Timmy's actual mom and dad were dysfunctional erratic and distant Cosmo and Wanda were intended to be somewhat more idic to be compassionate and thoughtful to both Timmy and each other but the problem with this pitch is that while it is wholesome it isn't very funny So eventually the show changed two important things over time number one Cosmo is stupid now number two Cosmo and Wanda hate each other and eventually after half a dozen Universe shattering movie events the world of the Fairly Odd Parents starts to feel a lot more lore motivated and a lot less character motivated and the way that Cosmo Wanda act in this film is so out of left field that it's out right abusive they hate each other they fight constantly throughout the film and their entire motivation is that they want to keep their surrogate godchild emotionally 10 years old forever and it doesn't help that I constantly feel like liveaction Wanda is about to try and sell me into a pyramid scheme about scented pine cones or something stop toti from what from taking you away from us you're falling in love Timmy and if that happens the three of us won't be together oh I've got an idea why don't you wish that tuty was in Alaska right now no also you want to know a funny story well I'll tell you anyways while making this video I made a list of original series characters who appear in this movie I forgot to put Timmy and toy on that list and the reason is that these two have absolutely nothing to do with their original characters Timmy is supposed to be a lot of things neurotic controlling sentimental dead pan a conster a slacker a little Gremlin with buck teeth and the filmmakers went pink got it toty I think you can defend a little bit in the original series she's the young child of the family always running to avoid the abuse of her sister and of course she has her long-standing crush on Timmy in this film she's been away for a decade she's an environmentalist she's acrobatic she loves animals I guess guess but at the very least it seems very true to her character that after becoming a successful and beautiful woman the first thing she wants to do in her hometown is impress Timmy despite him being a literal Manchild whose closest friends haven't learned about negative numbers yet and sure you can argue that there are scenes where 2D seems misdirected or ere expressive but you have to keep in mind it is not easy to apply a shake Experian performance to a character named after the act of Breaking Wind oh I almost forgot about the most important part of this scene Tootsie has bought Tommy a new hat and it's like a pink Fedora and this is a visual representation of his emancipation from childhood to adulthood he's an adult now because he wears a fedora Tommy is so grateful that he decides to have Cosmo and Wanda Grant one Last Wish which causes Cosmo to vibrate like a phone His Wish is for the town park to be restored to how it was during their childhoods which has been what Tootsie has wanted the entire film the two sit together in the tree and reminisce about the past but when Tootsie tries to kiss him Tommy Falls backwards and slams to the ground what happened Timmy um I fell out of a tree it looked like you fell out of the tree so you wouldn't have to kiss me it's just really complicated right now are you seeing someone else no did you just get out of a bad relationship no uh well uh maybe he just doesn't feel comfortable with the situation he's been put in uh maybe he's not used to this sort of thing and he just needs time to be able to do something like that I I don't understand how I could love someone since third grade someone who rebuilds a park for me saves my tree and then creates it's the most romantic day ever and then tells me he can't kiss me okay look he does not owe you anything okay you can't just try and guilt people into these things because you spent the day with them that that that's a very harsh and and not a nice thing thing to do okay okay okay I think you need to to take a take a step back just check your privilege grow up Timmy Turner do you believe so Tootsie is enraged and storms off when she suddenly sees a bunny minding its own business and totally not needing saved so she goes to save it of course a big net raises up and Tooty has been kidnapped you H ironic isn't it someone who cares so much for helpless little creatures was betrayed by a helpless little creature okay look dude we get it you're Donald Trump it stopped being menacing a super long time ago magnate got characterization aside it's objectively funny that as far as they could possibly know Cosmo and Wanda just witnessed literal human TR trafficking and they couldn't be more excited about it but Poof's judgmental stare convinces them that what they're doing is wrong and they have to help save toot SE by the way have you noticed that this is the first time in the plot description that I've Nam dropped poof that's because he's a pointless character who neither adds nor subtracts from any particular scene that he's in if the plot isn't directly about him he has nothing to do he can't provide commentary he can't help out cuz he baby so instead he just floats in the corner of the screen he's kind of like Scrappy do he saved the franchise from certain death he was really in your face for the first like season he was there and now he just stands around and smiles let's tell Timmy and save Dy don't worry little F you know what I take it back this new Ghostbusters reboot doesn't look half bad so Tommy's friends from school run to tell him that Tootsie has been human trafficked and he soon also learns that his fairlies are in distress thus he has to find a way to save everybody and the only logical option is is for him to steal a motorcycle and then wreck it for absolutely no reason also along the way he knocks a pets into Vicki causing her to run after him and then jorgan shoots a love arrow and it misses Tommy and shoots Vicki so now Vicki is in love with jorgan and scene so Trump and Cocker take tootsie pop into the secret underground lair which is like if Marilyn Manson designed a McDonald's play place Trump wishes for a ball pit and I figure you have to have magic powers to get one of those cuz I haven't seen one since I was like four and there was that big pink ey scare I've seen a lot of empty ball pits but why would you go in an empty ball pit it's just a hole with a tarp over it anyways Trump Wishes the ball pit was never ending and that Cocker would fall in and we see him whst away into the balls Vortex and there goes the best part of the film so Tommy knows that there are only two people in dimsdale who can possibly help rescue Tootsie and his fair Le Chester and AJ Chester oh God take my wallet take it just take it leave me alone dude you got to help me man you got to help me oh God what do you want dude listen listen man are you wearing a fedora dude listen to me okay they took him dude they take they took him who was it who this Donald Trump took my faires man what I need my fair we got to break into the Trum towers and steal them back I don't want anything I don't want to be a part of this you got to I swear to God if you don't help me I'll kill your family okay Cher so Trump continues to act out and use the faires for childish gains he brings a 3-in toy to life grows gigantic muscles and embarrasses his only secret service agent so he is left alone without security also it seems to me that the 3-in [Music] do this this is going to be epic I just want you guys to know I really appreciate how much you guys good luck timy you still owe us girlfriends no no that's my fault I that's my fault for expecting this movie to do something right Tommy finds Neverland Ranch and discovers that Trump has been using the Fairly so much that their energies are depleted and they're going to die and like I I don't know why Trump would uh do that like I don't know why he would kill his faires because like you figure those are his only pair you'd think he'd let him like charge back up or like not immediately drain them to the point of death cuz apparently if they die all this is undone so what's even what's even the point if you're just if you're just going to kill him but Tommy can't save Tootsie or the fair Lees because he's suddenly attacked by Ultra Magnus over here but he does some quick thinking there's nothing sadder than opening up a new boy it comes without batteries 3-in figures do not take batteries I feel like you should know this it's then that Tommy and Tootsie are confronted by Trump who prepares to use the last of the Fairley power to blow them both away but Tommy professes that he has fallen in love with Tootsie and he kisses her and now that he's kissed a girl that means he's become an adult except no no it does not the standards this movie uses to judge when you start being an adult is just Bonkers realistically Tommy isn't actually in love with this girl he's enamored with the superficial aspects he's gleamed about her over the last few days it is at best infatuation and that is not something that only adults do hell it's one of Timmy's most consistent running characteristics in the original show oh so having a crush makes you grownup having a job makes you grown up hell the only one of these three things that Tommy hadn't done in the original cartoon is move out of his parents' house what so living with your parents makes you a kid hey you the economy's hard Okay so so the fairies disappear now that Tommy has become an adult Trump goes crazy and is put away which is the least believable part of the movie and ianka takes over the company but as jorgan passes by still being chased by Vicki he reveals that he has a big announcement so it turns out the Fairley are like Santa Claus in that they're always watching you and the Fairley Council was so impressed by Tommy saving their worlds once again that they have enacted a special resolution allowing him and only him to keep his memories and Cosmo and Wanda but only as long as he uses their powers exclusively for charitable goals and thus Timmy learns the true lesson of the film to Never Grow Up and to always live with your parental figures I'm sure after this he also begins to consider how he's going to support himself when he's got a fourth trate education no discernable talents and he can only use his fairies for charitable goals is there some sort of political hack in there where you can still make a profet while doing charitable things who knows I'm sure there is I'm sure this will do with the rest of his life I also want to point out that this film essentially makes it that one of the greatest episodes in the show's history is now certainly not canon just want to point out that we traded in Alec Baldwin for Drake Bell uh an interesting choice but I feel like it might work out in the long term so with the rest of their lives set out before them poof suddenly prepared to deliver his first words finally his first words yo man it's going to be so cool man we going to be bumping man trying to help the boys out you know how we do it you feel me dog I don't know man is This Racist is this woke is it funny is it stupid is it Shakespeare is it Mel Brooks I have no idea please free me from this hell of my own design so Tommy begins his new life as a proud fourth grade graduate at 23 years old living in a van with his girlfriend and his godparents but hey like I said economy is rough the group fly off towards the camera like the end of Back to the Future and we learn that Chester and AJ got laid after all after that in a brief Stinger we see that Cocker has also survived setting up a potential sequel so that was grow up Timmy Turner and I can see what they're going for they wanted to recreate the original product while continuing it with a new twist and in some ways I can really respect that idea but let's be fair let's be 100% truthful here there are Fairly Odd Parents porn parodies that capture the spirit of the original show more accurately the weirdest thing about this film to me is that most of the main credited contributors have some history with the show Butch Hartman co-wrote the script alongside Scott fellows who wrote a significant amount of the show's Golden Era and is the creator of Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide one of my all-time favorite shows from when I was a kid there is no Boogeyman to blame the depiction of the franchise on with this movie but I'm going to blame Drake Bell and anyways because I feel like you can never go wrong blaming Drake Bell Jokes Aside grow up to be Turner is such a weird film because the concept itself just doesn't hold together as a premise if you had to write and direct A liveaction Fairly Odd Parents movie Set 13 years later starring Drake Bal as a Billy Madison style 23-year-old in the fifth grade could you make a great film well sure you could but not while keeping it PG-13 you only get one F bomb people I'm putting it when when he falls out of the tree and sure maybe if it had been different if you changeed some things if you had all the characters be in high school or if you put more emphasis on the coming of age themes maybe it would have worked a little bit but personally I like to take the Zack baggin approach sometimes when something is truly cursed it doesn't need diagnosed it needs to you can tell that a lot of effort went into this movie and I respect that but it steers so off course that it is an insult to the medium of Storytelling hell it is insulting to humanity I personally want a ridden apology etched upon Stone and put in the town square of every town in America and this is ultimately just a sad situation where without a better script more clear Direction a different cast and an entirely different concept for a film what you have here is a bad movie movie Bad movie not good well there's one good thing to take out of this film and that is that honestly it's it's the lowest point we can go to I mean by comparison everything that's made after this has to be the greatest thing ever right yeah I'm sure I'll never regret saying that [Music] sentence I wish that Donald Trump was President no [Music] diabetes Life's A Piece of Cake reusing this intro cuz it took some time to make down the hall until his room he starts renting instantly c s make him just temp for in reality he is a beards and fled [Music] com vi vi white people alien Quint you'll wait Le 2 hours here it's [Music] Quint there are too many traditions in the review household even count when it comes to the holidays every year we put up a billion decorations we get all excited we sit around the bonfire and then we wait until mid January to finally let the celebrations begin but my favorite thing of all to do is to look back into my own past and to find something that I feel like really represents the core of the holiday not just of Christmas itself but of what I love about the world and Humanity so I figured a good starting place was Drake Bell about 7 months ago I reviewed grow up Timmy Turner a 2011 Direct Television film based on the early 2000s hit program The Fairly Odd Parents it's become one of my all-time favorite videos and more importantly it's one of my most popular with over 4,000 views and so it's no surprise that the sequel film a fairly on Christmas is one of my most requested video topics in current year 2017 with some even going as far as to promise me a viewing experience much worse than the original film and for me that's always been a little hard to imagine whenever I review something no matter how how much I hate watching it or how many bitter words I spew out during the review by the time I'm done editing the video I've usually gained some kind of respect for it as if I formed a personal relationship with this piece of media and I get kind of defensive about it grow up Timmy Turner is an exception to this I dislike it to the point that I pull extreme personal satisfaction from knowing that I will never have to watch it ever again and the sequel it's worse how could it possibly be worse spoilers it's not but before we go any further remember to go down below and hit that subscribe button we're trying to get to 100,000 subscribers by the end of current year 2017 and I am announcing a brand new subscriber goal to go along with that if we can pull this off then I will make a review of the third Timmy Turner movie A Fairly Odd Summer but I will only do this if we reach had a Christmas party so if you occasionally hear random people making live commentary that's where that's from with that let's get into this we open on the North Pole and at the most festive time of the year the period just before the holidays we see the Christmas elves gathered around their leader Santa Claus who it must be said is looking pretty trim although I guess that's pretty consistent with some of his earlier depictions in this universe Santa declares that it is time to bring out the nice list a list of every good person in the world alongside what they want for Christmas but with this must also come the naughty list which is brought out by the elf from Bad Santa AKA Tony Cox he's looking kind of pissed off but to be fair you'd be grumpy too if you were the only elf who looks like a fully grown adult think about how awkward date nights must be for that guy the ceremony is completed but just as Santa begins to study the good list something goes wrong oh what's going on who gave Albert his piano who gave Jane her cooking set who's messing with my Christmas someone's been selling Christmas gifts on my street I'm about to bust a cap in someone's candy cane sucking ass so it's here that we catch back up with the Dream Team rocketing around in their Back to the Future candy van Timmy Turner played by Drake Bell most famous for Drake and Josh and toti played by Daniela Monae best known for the Fred films and some other stuff probably as you'll recall in the last film Timmy and toti were given free reign to continue using Cosmo and Wanda but only on the condition that they used their magic for charitable goals here we learn that both the characters and the WR writers have a very interesting definition of charity as they blast around the planet flippantly fulfilling every random wish that they happen to hear they give a middle class Suburban girl a monster truck turn a toy dinosaur into a giant Godzilla monster and clear up traffic on this bridge what happened to all these people are they just dead in Paris they make a bunch of fireworks go off for some girl and they move the Sun or at least I think this is Paris it might be Mason Ohio and then they turn the death desert into a green land with water which is essentially ecological terrorism then they make the Leaning Tower of Pisa straight leading to me saying a brand new sentence that has never before been uttered by any human being remember when Superman 3 did this better most notably they gift an impoverished kid a real life unicorn which is easily the most charitable thing in the sequence because it means her family now has meat for the winter and on top of this they Grant the wish of two thieves for them to instantly have all of the loot they wanted to steal whoever they were they sure were happy we find out that in just that morning alone the group have granted 486,000 wishes which is almost 600,000 wishes today and apparently this is their definition of charity work just blindly Indiana jonesing your way around the planet and answering any wish that you hear I wish I was watching a better movie so a topic I kind of broached last time how do these guys survive uh who pays for their food where did they get gas for the van with their magic running low the group lowered the van into dimsdale where they make indirect contact with the best character in these films Crocker either the Earth is broken from its orbit and we are hurdling towards the Sun but this is the work of Timmy Turner and his fairy good bear all right so that's still not funny but other than that I I still think that Crocker is pretty good in this there's so many moments in the sequence alone that I find to be oddly Charming like there's a beat where it seems like they're setting up a really lame joke you know what I say about Christmas B handbag but then the punchline actually got to me in a very classic Fairly Odd Parents kind of way that's because every year growing up all mother ever gave me for Christmas were women's handbags she always knew I'd give them back to here Crocker complains that Christmas is terrible as all he ever seems to get is piles and piles of coal the kids tell him that he must be on the naughty list but ironically Crocker doesn't believe in any mysticism surrounding Christmas ridiculous everyone knows there's no such thing as the North Pole or polar bears nearby Tootsie and Tommy are just kind of hanging out when they happen to run into you're in big trouble Timmy Turner that's not the title of the movie so these are two of Santa's elves from the start of the movie uh you know what I'm not even going to try and learn their names the guy elf is wearing some kind of festive Fedora which I guess must mean he's an especially grownup Christmas elf and it's here that we learn a pretty big reveal in terms of this film's lore that elves and fairies have pretty poor relations lousy stinking fairies dirty it turns out that for hundreds of years fairies and elves have been having a full out race war and both groups are equally happy to pull out a spiteful Epitaph also have the fairies just forgotten that they're not supposed to be out in the open was the franchise just not doing that anymore by this point and what do you know Crocker blatantly sees the elves and the fair Lees battling in the street and he schemes to sneak aboard their Adventure also he bites the head off of a gingerbread man foreshadowing so soon Tommy and the Tommy ETS arrive at the North Pole in their flying kiao where the faires and the elves continue to fight what happened this is supposed to be a time of peace and love they know what they did to us what we did what did they do I kind of want to know what could they possibly have done I feel like there's an answer but I feel like it's not the answer they could say in a kids movie C ER appears from under the car suffering from frostbite when he's attacked by a totally real Polar Bear yeah I bet they had to bar that from a zoo probably needed a trainer too that's crazy eventually Crocker does make his way into Santa's Workshop time to use my patented Crocker blend in technique yink so we find out that Santa is upset because Tommy has been doing such a bad job of giving people gifts that they're starting to disappear from his nice list because of this Santa start to feel kind of useless and put aside they don't need me their names are disappearing from my nice list the specials in the latter run of the Fairly Odd Parents are weird because they're all written like they might have some kind of real world parallel or grander message but uh nope they don't but as you know with great power and magical fairies do fall into that category comes great responsibility why' you quote Spider-Man that doesn't seem especially relevant it's funny because an elf is beating a child due to a deeply seated racial bias this part of the movie is chocked full of stuff that you probably shouldn't think about too long because of the implication your ears look a little dull looks like we have to sharpen [Music] them so s is trying to give Tommy a long talk about how he just can't flippantly fulfill every random wish that he happens to hear but they get interrupted when one of the factory machines clogs up and Santa has to fix it Santa says that he wishes production could go more smoothly and Tommy says hey that sounds like a random wish I should flippantly fulfill but what Tommy doesn't though is that elf buildings are designed to reflect any fairy magic and this causes cosmos's wand to send out a concentrated jolt which bounces around the room knocking into everything and causing Havoc I'm oh my God that bear just took someone out and you could have it [Music] all good Lord Laura Laura [Music] Palmer Santa Claus are you hurt Santa Claus who's Santa Claus I'm the Easter Bunny do you think this is the first thing that pops up on this guy's IMDb page oh it gets worse guys I think those are rabid Tropics Santa on the floor classic so yeah Santa's crazy now so it looks like we'll have to hold off on that long talk for at least half an hour and without Santa to control the North Pole the entire complex starts shutting down jorgan appears and gives Tommy a Christmas present it's the rules which is the same thing he got Tommy for his birthday what a piece of I came here to inform you that you are once again in deep trouble that's still not the title of the movie so it turns out the rules for some reason has jurisdiction over nonf fairy Superstition and that according to the rules if a godchild does away with a holiday icon the God child in question must assume the responsibilities of that icon until such time as the icon is able to perform again okay jorgan in English please no that was pretty clear so they get Santa's hat and put it on Timmy and for a while it seems like everything is going smoothly enough until it's revealed that Timmy can't be Santa because he's also on the naughty list and the only way to correct this is to go to that grumpy elf from the start of the movie and convince him to take Timmy's name off of the list or you could have someone kill Timmy and then they would be Santa then Crocker shows up and says he also wants to come along and everyone's like yeah sure okay you can be in the movie I guess whatever and so they begin their great perilous track to find Elmer the Elder elf to have Timmy removed from the bad list so he can take his rightful place as God emperor of the North Pole oh I wish you could wish for directions but my want is useless as cosmos visibility helmet Wanda I'm right here she can't see me how come most of the things in this movie come across has improved but the 3D effects honestly come across as much worse they don't look like they were rendered for a movie they look like they were rendered for a PS2 game you're so short you couldn't kick a flea's knees burn it's like the fairies themselves are ridden by a different group of people so the group faced their very first daunting Challenge on this Quest using a candy cane to go zip lining wa they busted out the GoPro on this one that's how you know the movie's got budget what's the worst that could happen huh J better them than me the collapsing ice causes the group to be split in two and as to see The Elves and the fair leyes tumble down Crocker and Tommy slide down on a sheet of ice being forced to hold on to each other's bodies for protection was this movie written on fanfiction.net so this entire time there's been this mysterious figure stalking the characters from the shadows and here we find out that it's actually been a penguin the entire time Tootsie thinks they should ask for directions last I checked Penguins aren't very talkative yeah well last time I checked Penguins don't even live in the North Pole so why don't you shut your ass little mouth Dingle day I learned his name Tootsie speaks penguin it's a amazingly [Music] terrible I just got the weirdest M just like a really muscular man with a penguin head then we see Tommy trying to stop Cocker from falling to his death I wonder if it's surreal to go on a life quest with your fifth grade teacher I figure it's more surreal if you stayed in the fifth grade for 13 years although I guess if you count Tommy's secret wish it would actually add up to 63 years 63 years in the fifth grade that's got to be kind of weird right anyways the obvious punchline is that the cliff is just a small embankment solid gag I haven't been this cold since mother locked me in the me Frieza she said it was an accident the way this movie writes Crocker is so weird but oddly Charming because it's like they forgot that he's evil this entire movie he's just been chilling hanging out venting about his childhood trauma I am ready for a Redemption Crocker Art damn it let's just have it so Crocker and Tommy find a tribe of friendly gingerbread man who offer assistance in their Quest but this diplomacy is put on hold when I couldn't live here without my very bestest Ginger friends Ginger Ed Ginger Ned and of course Ginger Jed he's eating me kill them so all the gingerbread men want to kill them now I I'm going to be straight this movie is great now I I love it a lot so the two teams catch up with each other and the elves and fairies team up to hit the gingerbread men with so much snow that they retreat in fear proving that the two groups once opposed are able to come together and form a more concentrated and direct line of genophobia but time is running out as Santa being gone from his throne creates an anti holiday Gloom that spreads all over the world and makes everyone sad and unmotivated with a disjointed disappointment in everything that they're supposed to enjoy oh so it's kind of like how I feel all the time so eventually Tommy and crew managed to find themselves in the lair of Elmer the elf which is decorated like Mason Ohio but once there they find it very difficult to convince him of their cause I see all I know all and for centuries I have decided who's naughty and who's nice sometimes I even decide who's just downright at knowing that's what happened to Chloe Tommy learns that he is on the naughty list for flippantly fulfilling every random wish he happens to hear without pause for the consequence of his decisions it turns out that the Unicorn girl has been stuck in the air ever since we last saw her the girl with the monster truck has been doing just about everything you're supposed to do with a monster truck not Godzilla is destroying to too you know that one was obvious and the criminals Who Tommy helped Rob that place they still have all that stuff good for them they didn't even take it out of the boxes they're using that for furniture trying to show off you knocked out s and endanger cistmas for billions of people it was an accident was it Timmy yes no it was more me being stupid than an accident that's kind of what an accident is here's a little pearl of wisdom for you with magical powers come I know great responsibility and so Timmy learns a valuable lesson but I didn't learn what could I possibly have learned from that when you deconstruct it what is it about oh Timmy gets people some wishes you gets people some Christmas gifts and there the bad Christmas gifts and that causes Havoc where am I going to use that in life oh maybe I shouldn't buy Tim this hand grenade he has a self-destructive personality and he might also take some other people out in the same instance that I'm imagining at the moment no that's never going to happen I don't have magical fairies so don't don't set it up like a big moment when this has no real world application I'm not nearly as mad as I'm pretending to be mad for comedic effects but then Cocker approaches Tommy and tells him not to worry because he truly is a good person this causes Elmer the elf to have a change of heart as he approaches them yet again the fact that Timmy Turner's kindness was able to touch cocer shriv heart speaks volumes you don't know me so without another moment to lose the team rock it back to the North Pole to take their places back as Santa and his jingle slaves all the presents get wrapped up these toys try to kill themselves and Christmas is [Applause] saved the gang welds Santa slle to their flying candy van and fly over the suburbs throwing gifts to the houses below because that's how that works at least according to rank and bass movies the next day Santa is back to normal and everyone celebrates the success of their mission Crocker flirts with an elf played by a natural child and it turns out that 2,000 years of racial discrimination was caused by a simple misunderstanding also they didn't fix any of the problems from the start of the film that girl on the Unicorn she's going to die I liked this I don't need your permission to like something when I look back at all the bad bad films I've had to watch so far as of current year 2017 this film Doesn't Remind me of any of them it barely even reminds me of the first film it's certainly nowhere near as surreal or offensive if there's anything that this movie actually reminds me of it's probably the legend of Frosty the Snowman which I looked at way way back in my second film review don't get me wrong it barely feels like the Fairly Odd Parents and it's not great but it kind of just reminded me of all the odd Goofy Christmas films that I used to love watching as a kid I mean I used to watch the Barney Christmas tape on a loop until one day my parents just hit it they HD the Barney Christmas tape from me because I wouldn't stop watching it you think 5-year-old me had standards I didn't so yeah I would have watched A Fairly Odd Christmas it's cute kind of I mean the CGI isn't cute and the writing has some problems but at the end of the day I think you're in big trouble Timmy Turner was far better than it had any right to be so there we go a movie which I got to say I liked a lot more than I thought I would I mean I thought this was going to be a really painful experience but actually it was pretty all right what a good way to start out the year let's see if the next one is the Stray bolt that finally kills my spirit for good oh jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way oh what fun persevering to be a success every success on YouTube is a fluke to be a little more optimistic I thought we could stop and watch the first video that I ever created for the Quinton reviews YouTube series for context I was 15 or 16 when I made this hello uh there he is my name is Quinton Kyle Hoover oh yeah say the full name you got to get that branding out uh this is a little series I've been thinking about doing for a long time now called a quint reviews quitt reviews there there it goes I've been thinking about doing this for a long time but I never really had the driving force or the reason to do it what made me want to do a review series then just this little obscure television program called the no don't don't do it Dr Hill you you PR Sci-Fi show is celebrating this year and every everyone's doing a great job there are comic Australian coinage shut up like I said there's been a lot of stuff and everyone's just been doing a fantastic job of celebrating me oh it's the worst it really is TV show ironically shut up during this series I'm going to take a deep look at Doctor Who are you I'll books Comics aios TV episodes just about anything all at your request but more importantly I'll watch 15th anniversary specials come and go and review them with you no no you won't you'll just give up before then Lane to M from P up I just I want to die the point I was trying to make in showing you that truly unwatchable clip is that that person that socially unacceptable ball of Grease he managed to get more than a 100,000 subscribers on his YouTube YouTube channel the same series that he introduced in that terrible terrible little clip he somehow managed to go from 140 subscribers to 140,000 subscribers in just under a year can you imagine that if someone like that can manage to succeed on this website to not only get popular enough but good enough to continue making videos if that person can do it I don't think there's anything stopping any of you from doing it much better anyways I'm going to review the third Tim ET Turner movie now I hope everyone's all right with that Quinton is an average Jo whose life's just not the same money Fame and power means he can't really complain in my first review which at around 50 minutes is one of my longest I went down the long list of qualities that made the original Fairly Odd Parents a classic and then I meticulously pinpointed how the motion video sequel failed to pin even one of these down missing out on the comedic cues the charm of the character work and most of all the heart I've said in the past that giving final judgments on Films can be somewhat hard for me it's difficult for me to say what's the worst film ever made or which film I've liked less than any other but I can easily say that out of everything I've looked at in the past year and a half grow up Timmy Turner is the film I'd least like to revisit it's not as funny as Grave Encounters 2 as iconic as Manos the hands of fate or as nostalgic as scary godmother 1 and two it's just insulting embarrassing Ing and aggravating so you can imagine my shock when I learned that this film was successful enough to spawn not one but two liveaction sequels A Fairly Odd Christmas and A Fairly Odd Summer I surprisingly enough found myself not totally despising the Christmas film although perhaps that can be put into doubt when you remember how much stress and confusion these films put my brain th now there's one element of the last film that I've kind of figured out since I reviewed it in A Fairly Odd Christmas there's this running joke where everyone keeps telling Timmy that with great power comes great responsibility but as you know with great power and magical fairies do fall into that category comes great responsibility at the time for the life of I couldn't figure out why the hell they were all doing this until I remembered that the same year this came out Drake Bell was cast as Peter Parker in the Disney Channel series Ultimate Spider-Man so a running Motif in that film was that Drake Bell's life was going extremely well and that the writers were essentially bragging that they got to keep using him while he was working for Disney of all people and if it's funny to consider this as we look back just 5 years later Drake Bell has since declared bankruptcy alongside a reported falling out between him and Josh P that's all the information we really have in current year 207 but it does represent a big change for his career and lifestyle which might explain some of the weirder parts of the following film there does come a point where I feel kind of awkward talking about these films I think there's a limit to how many times you can make a video about how you don't like something before you start coming across like an obsessed egomaniac do I really want my life to devolve to a point where I get stuck in a Groove discussing the same faces and controversies over and over again just to maintain some kind of relevancy well either way my curiosity means that I at the very least want to see this film and if I'm going to watch it I might as well make another subpar review a lot of people act shocked when I tell them how many of these films Nickelodeon made but as it stands now I kind of understand why a third film was justified growup Timmy Turner was meant to read like a finale for The Character a happy ending where everyone could literally fly off off into the sunset in the story Tommy has been so afraid of his future that he's decided to lock himself into a previous stage of his life despite all Sound Logic which is pathetic in the end he does grow up but is told he can keep his fairies as long as he uses them for charitable goals and he lives in a van so he must be doing pretty good for himself A Fairly Odd Christmas revealed that despite charity being his only job in life he is super bad at granting gifts putting people in danger and ruining ecosystems along the way this essentially creates this weird Gap where once again there is no final page in Tommy tuner's story thus A Fairly Odd Summer sets out to give another finale to a series that has ended far too many times for anyone to believe we start out on the opening scene to UHF as Tommy is dressed up as Indiana Jones on an adventure before he wakes up at his boring day job and I'm sitting here because Jan gave you a summer job because you're grown up now and we all agreed that you should work for a living remember oh yeah I have a job oh God I I just can't believe we're here right now next one could easily argue that this sequence of Tommy working in a boring office job while clinging onto his fairies out of some kind of obs obsession with childhood was a predictable outcome of the original series but that doesn't make it any less disparaging it'd be like if they did a Gillan reunion and it was just a bunch of shots of some skeletons on an island are we really going to start acting like that just because something is realistic that makes it good even worse you have a summer job what a loser hey I'm here too what were you thinking I have this theory that the actor playing Cosmo slowly over the years has started to really dislike playing the character or even the show in general which has possibly led him to put less and less effort into his performance that or he's aged so much that he legitimately doesn't know how to pull off the cosmo voice anymore he's now slipping into this weird FAL setto H home which just doesn't sound like he's trying and it barely fits the character at all of course I'm Uki I'm Cosmo oh no so Tommy has only taken this job because he wants to impress his girlfriend toti I mean Tootsie is that what I called her I don't know toti is whatever Tootsie is of course way out of his League now that they're both grown up she's got World experience a college education gymnastics training and excess activism under her belt he's got a fourth grade education no money Talent OR aspirations and the face of a young Kevin spacy but Tommy isn't feeling content in his new job in spite of the amazing view it gives him a voice H so let's say that it's fairly obvious that this film reuses The Cosmo Wanda and poof 3D models while the other background fairies in this film are a little worse for wear we see here that the big wand in fairy world is now sitting at top of the fairy waste disposal unit which is a giant toilet I know I've ragged on the effects of these movies before but this film easily looks the worst it looks like something you'd see on the elate side of YouTube not on a Prime Time network I mean look at this shot of waste being deposited into the toilet how does this window not look curved if it's on the side of a toilet ball how big could this building be if this is what the outside of it looks like is this just a room and then a bunch of sludge behind a wall and that's the entire infrastructure of fairy world waste disposal does this dump truck fly if it does why use a stock model with with Rolling Wheels with the special effects in this film done by the creator of the amazing bulk maybe it's my fault for giving a so Tommy decides to visit dimsdale with his Fairley where he's spotted by Cocker because they're out in the open despite that being one of the most basic rules Cocker is on his way to Hawaii I I mean Hawaii where his mother is sending him on vacation in hopes that it will cure his episodes it's here that we meet our true protagonists riding around in the limousine Gobot from the first film these are two Rich Kids excited for a family vacation they're about to take to Hawaii oh look it's the little sister from Henry Danger why do I know that anyways it turns out their parents aren't going on the trip because they want to play tennis Instead This is a common thing for the pair who are totally absent as parents and don't even know their kids names so the inevitable twist at the end of the film is going to be that these two get their own fa iies which is fine I guess but I always struggled to find this set up endearing even when it was done in the original series the original show had a character named Remy who had this same Vibe going on but between him and someone in poverty like Chester I mean Chester it always seemed like Remy didn't need fairies because being rich is already like having fairies like what can Richie Rich over here really get with magic that his daddy's wallet doesn't already pay for the kids parents want to be responsible so they hire a babysitter to go on the vacation with the kids this is of course Vicki played by the same actors as before although luckily this time they didn't make her wear the cones meanwhile poof smells something foul in the air and this is soon revealed to be foop the antip poof so in the original series The anti-fairies were occasionally recurring villains who were essentially the direct opposite of the the fairies instead of spreading wishes and joy to Children the anti-fairies were invisible agents of chaos who created what humans perceive as bad luck for every fairy there was also a parallel anti-fairy for instance Anti-Cosmo was an evil Super Genius while anti-wanda was an unintelligent Bumpkin I only recently found out that before fo was a thing these guys had only shown up twice first in their debut episode and then in the second Jimmy Tommy Power Hour but in those two episodes the characters left a huge impression behind as the years went by however it started to feel like they were starting to be used a little bit too often and this was especially true when it came to foop fo is truly the opposite to poof in every possible way he talks has an actual impact on the show and there's something to say about him in fact this movie was the next to last appearance of poof when the show returned for its final season after this poof only appeared in one episode while fop appeared six times so you can very strongly make the case that foop being established as one of the show's most recent recurring bad guys is by far the largest contribution poof made to the cannon also do you remember the dog the dog had an anti-fairy too exactly as planned let's never talk about this again so Tommy makes a quick stop at the dimsdale research center where he checks up on his girlfriend Tootsie and her supervisor Professor butterf farts that one's real that's that's really what his name is see Timmy the rare spotted dolphin is suffering from something called dolphin hosis and if Melody were to spread the whole species could be wiped out in one meeting season so butter farts has created a gas that will cure the hosis and he trust Tootsie to deliver his gas but this means Tommy will be left alone all summer while she's in Hawaii Tommy then checks in on his parents who are off on a trip to North Dakota just kidding they're also going to Hawaii here we're reminded of Tommy's Dad's job at a Pencil Factory and it turns out the company is having a group Retreat Tommy's dad has been trusted with providing entertainment and has been given a huge check to provide this however Tommy later realizes that he has somehow ended up with both Tootsie's dolphin cure and his father's check he's then given a special promotion by jargon who is going to you'll never guess this Hawaii jargon wants Tommy to have his former job guarding a big Crystal called the abracadab brium that powers all the magic in the world you see this is actually a big redcon or should I say cover up within the Fairly OD parents Universe you see in the original series all of the Magic in fairy world and thus the universe was actually created by a giant wand in fairy world later it was revealed that that wand was actually powered by people who believed in fairies which is why the characters keep going out of their way to convince Crocker that fairies are real despite the fact that it destroys his social life this is a literary concept which has become known as flanderization with the more the characters are represented in fiction the more likely it will be that they will become unjustifiable sociopaths and if you really tick me off I'm going to run you down with my car actually the abracadab brium is specifically stated to power the big wand and Tommy finds out it's possible to remove the abracadab for a short period of time without affecting the magic Across the Universe this way he can still go to Hawaii while taking care of this great power and his responsibilities but but secretly he is stalked there by fo who wants to steal the abracadab brium lest he be tortured by the anti-fairy council in Hawaii we see everyone arrive Cocker meets up with the support group suggested by his mother who all suffer from defensive Obsession disorder or DOD hey see that flying Pink Elephant over there no smiling at me but I'm not going to loan it any more money okay that'd be crazy after what it did last time but Cocker decides he needs to get away from Butch Hartman as fast as possible so when he runs into F the pair decide to join forces to defeat Tommy tuner and Destroy fairy world so Tommy manages to get his Dad the check and Tootsie her gas just in time to avoid disaster in the aftermath Tootsie and Tommy decide to have a fun day in Hawaii playing on the beach and surfing on the water while balancing the source of all fairy magic on the surfboard because why not but it wouldn't be a liveaction fairly odd movie if we didn't have a celebrity Cameo and so fo decides to blend in more by turning into a human special guest star Scott bio we went from Jason Alexander to Scott bio with a mustache truly the downgrade of downgrades so Scott beo and Cocker throw sand around on the beach while sped up in a very surreal sequence this is to build a sand trap with a tiger at the bottom to trap Tommy but the trap doesn't work and eventually Cocker tries it for himself and he falls in and is Roy horned by the tiger meanwhile the two rich kids from before have escaped from Vicki's absent babysitting she eventually finds them with Tommy we just wanted to have fun you will do what I say and like it and you stay away from my kids if you know what's good for you you know I I've watched all these movies at this point and I do not think there is a single scene a single moment even where anyone mentions that Tootsie and Vicky our sisters it's a pretty important part of the dynamic I think and the films just kind of forget about it to some extent eventually Cocker and F trick Tommy and Tootsie by doing a dance routine while Scott bio does a mkey Jones cosplay huh I feel like changing that joke and I don't know why eventually Cocker and fo tricked Tommy and Tootsie by doing a dance routine while Scott Mayo dresses up as the background dancers from the Bruno Mars lazy song Cocker Ste kills the abracadab brium but our heroes quickly realize they've been tricked you lost the source of all magic in the universe so the group begins searching for the bag so jorgan doesn't rip their heads off Tootsie teams up with the two kids while Cosmo and wandoo get fridged literally and Tommy just uh he just wanders around so much of this movie feels borderline improvised around the main stars just around on the beach it's funny to imagine Drake Bell just kind of going around and refusing to take Direction and and just being an uncontrollable force that was doing whatever he wanted me Drake Bell done shooting movie me Drake Bell want sit down me Drake Bell seawan Tootsie and the kids rent a pedal car and chase after Cocker and poof who are driving around in a giant pineapple this is either the worst or the greatest chase scene of all time poof and Cocker get to a volcano and Cocker tries to throw the abracadab brium into the lava but the Facebook live reaction emojis convince him not to no I won't destroy this magical substance for you or for anyone else I was wrong want to destroy every fair in the universe I only hope that someday they can forgive me so Cocker's Soul has been purified by the abracadab Brian which is implicitly powered single-handedly by his belief in fairy god parents so in a way this is the definition of improvement through self-love Tommy shows up and saves everyone just like in his dream but food grabs the abracadab brium he plans to throw it into the volcano even if this destroys him but Tommy grabs the Crystal and the two wrestle until they both fall in and you could have it all he sacrificed everything just for the sake of his friends truly this is a heartfelt moment and a legitimate end to one of the greatest childhood icon it we all know it's a fake out it's Drake Bell's going to come back it's be bring Dr bring Drake Bell back we all know what's going to happen just do it what is it whoa how' I do that say what so Tommy has now been resurrected as a fairy and he's now voiced Again by Tera strong okay and he has returned to having the body of a child but with wings that's it I Quit no no I'm done you you and as a matter of fact thank you very much I deserve better and you know it I like to imagine that they wrote this part because Drake Bell went mysteriously missing halfway through production of the movie and they didn't have an [Music] ending may I have this dance tuty this is going to take some getting used to what being a pedophile cuz that's what you are now look at this look at this Tootsie keeps saying she's so excited this has happened but look at her face that's the face of someone who just got punked that's the face of someone who just got tricked into dating a child just got tricked into being a aile look at that weak smile the horror reached her brain and she's trying to stop it from reaching her face oh my boyfriend may look 10 years old but he's actually a 25-year-old who was turned into a magical being who just looks 10 years old yeah babe I'm sure the judge is totally going to buy that excuse well at least the movie can't get any more disturbing guess what Vicki mom and dad say you can be on any for as long as they want this isn't funny so Cosmo and Wanda become the god parents of the two richy Rich Kids the fairies get all their magic back fop is poured into the weird toilet building in fairy world and everyone dances into the night as poof says goodbye to the audience although not in the voice of Randy Jackson because I guess they decided that was too much is that the line Nickelodeon is that the line you don't cross twice this is usually the part of the video where I pick up a remote prop I press the stop button even though the audience can't see it's a stop button they presume it's a stop button because the review part of the video is over and then I just slam dunk that into the floor just just full on Michael Jordan or who is that Bas is that basket I don't care the point is that I didn't want to do this okay I don't want to have to sit here no point is of of a human being no human woken up one day and been like do you know what I want to do today I want to watch the third Timmy Turner movie I want to watch the Timmy Turner live action Fair the Odd Parents movie starring Drake Bell that's set in the summer and has and has the poof in it that's what I feel like doing no I did this cuz you wanted me to say all right A Fairly Odd Summer isn't very good like I said when we started off going in you understand why they would want to make another one of these why they'd want a new finale to the series but now that we've seen the film are we really better off personally this movie feels like watpad fanfiction in just a few years we've gone from Tommy growing up into a fully independent adult to him remaining emotionally 10 years old forever to him becoming a magical fairy who can grant wishes for children at this point the franchise has lost whatever connection it once had to the audience at home and the main reason is what I've said before it's become more focused on lore than emotions more interested in continuity and references than actually establishing a connection with the kids at home and sure there are parts of this film that I found a little fun and Charming in a Nickelodeon TV movie kind of way the cast seems like they're having fun and everyone has great energy but that ending that will always be the thing that sticks out most in my mind this past summer The Fairly Odd Parents was officially cancelled after 16 years on the air and as of current year 2017 it's unclear if the franchise will ever have another Revival but that is no excuse to put an end to Excellence I say Nickelodeon should keep making projects like these I want to see a fairly odd Flag Day a fairly odd Ramadan a fairly odd straight Pride day liveaction Fairly Odd Parents can become an Unstoppable media Empire a tribute to the art of never giving up the game even when you're a little less good every time you try and with that I've been quitting Kyle Hoover and that's all you [Music] need Earth n is lined up [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] what [Applause] [Music] Mr President our laser portals they are going to fail 11 times out of 10 every time guaranteed they are going to fail and now that Tommy's dead you know nothing in the the whole wide world can really stop me now cuz you know everyone and their grandmother knows we've got the best plans they're truly tremendous best plans I've ever seen i' I've never seen better ones you know but what people don't talk about is we also have the best space station in the Multiverse that you know that's true ladies and gentlemen the best space station you know people from other universes they tell me that literally all the time they tell me you know Daddy you've got the best space station and I say I know I know but it's true let's see Hillary space station let's see it have her pull up and I say there is such a thing as a clean burning multiplication man yes there is but sir even if his portal technology has failed there's still a chance that he survived he could still be out there in some random Universe it doesn't matter you know the young Tommy is a fool if he even thinks that he has enough time to stop my plans in current year 2019 oh my face my beautiful face I'm Scarred For Life Chester Chester [Applause]
