The Story of Dark Deception Chapter 1-3 Explained

hey guys super horror bro mike here and in today's video we take a look at the story of dark deception chapter one to three for those who don't know dark deception is an episodic maze runner horror game where the objective is to enter each monster-filled stage and collect gem-like items known as soul shards then racing to the exit before said monsters eat you alive however there is more to dark deception than an addictive and highly challenging gameplay loop this universe is rich in lore and the story of a fallen man seeking redemption ties it all together so before chapter 4 drops to continue this saga i felt it was the perfect time to recap and summarize the story so far so sit back relax and let's put on our running shoes [Music] it is done now my faith lies in darkness these are the first words spoken by dark deception's central protagonist doug hauser once a prestigious lawyer with a wife and daughter doug ended up a fallen man he now awakes in a limbo-like environment and an earthly place governed by the supernatural where he is greeted by a mysterious lady named beerus she promises doug his shot at redemption in return for his help fear not love you've got potential i see it in you and i can help change your fate but if you want a new life you're going to have to suffer quite a bit to get it through a series of secret audio logs unlocked by s ranking each of dark deception's nightmarish stages we are granted key information about this witch-like figure in life bias had been a budding actress seeking fame and fortune in hollywood during the 1930s she had managed to seek out fortune after marrying an affluent businessman named edgar but still no studio would take her seriously as an actress one evening during a party at edgar's manor bias encountered a mysterious man named victor he seemed to hail from eastern europe and was very familiar with the dark arts bias managed to persuade victor to teach her how to summon a demon but to do this a virgin sacrifice was required victor has shown me the ritual i know all the words by heart all we need is a sacrifice none of edgar's traps will do but the maid has a daughter that might do nicely after beerus had sacrificed for maid's daughter and struck a deal with the devil a demon named malek granted her seven years of fame and success in return for her eternal soul while bs enjoyed this time in the spotlight with every day that passed she grew more aware of her impending doom so with less than a year to go before malik returned to claim her soul bias began looking for a way out of the deal she discovered an ancient tibetan artifact known as the riddle of heaven and with this device in her possession she could control malik's power allowing her to destroy him and to become an all-powerful entity in the process the ring is called the riddle of heaven an ironic name don't you think her demon's power is contained inside it the creature of infinite cruelty that you just met malik complete the ring and you can use malik's power to fulfill your darkest desires oh so the legend goes [Music] now bies is trapped in her limbo-like ballroom summoning lost souls to help her rebuild for ring alta at its center so she may activate it to save her from malik's vengeful wrath doug is her newest recruit promised salvation from his own sins in return however malik informs him that bias is not to be trusted and liable to turn on him the second she gets what she wants if you believe her you're dumber than you look once she gets what she wants you're done [Music] in order to repair the ring altar bs requires doug to enter 10 different nightmare portals and collect at the souls of previously fallen victims these are represented in the form of gem-like objects known as soul shards collecting all of them grants doug one piece of the ring altar which allows beerus to open up the exit for him granting him a point of return to the ballroom with each piece of the altar returned bass grows more powerful and more dangerous to malloc now she has another piece of that infernal ring every piece pierce gets makes her more powerful don't you get that meat sack what do you think is going to happen when she doesn't need you anymore he's right i am getting more powerful powerful enough to fulfill your every wish that's why you're here isn't it she is also able to bestow new abilities upon doug such as teleportation stuns and speed boosts which greatly assist him when running from the many monsters inhabiting each nightmare realm but who are these monsters well answers are provided to this question in the way of secret notes found hidden throughout each stage these messages have been left by a mysterious character who only goes by the initial e going by the information we currently have it appears e was the clever girl who escaped pierce previously here you'll need this it can detect each shard's location it was left by the last guest to disappoint me here a very clever girl ease evasion was made possible after she discovered a strange relic the relic allowed e to move freely between nightmare realms though she could only travel the same path malik had previously walked meaning there was no way to escape to the human realm from the shadows she observed these monsters and discovers who and what they really are each one represents a different kind of human the souls of the sinful trapped within their wretched bodies the monkeys in the hotel stage are manifestations of violent men and murderers doomed to exist in the afterlife as bloodthirsty primates the schoolhouse is haunted by a demonic child known as agatha in life the soul of this child had met a cruel and twisted end her spirit then corrupted by hatred and rage creating this evil avatar as a result it is likely that agatha was born from the cruel fate that befell the maid's daughter by bias's hand a golden manor full of living statues represents the souls of those corrupted by greed now forced to exist as gibbering golden figures who may only move when no one is watching next doug ventures into the depths of a rancid sewer system where killer toy-like duckies lay in wait floating on the putrid waves each ducky is deceptive playing dead among a sea of inactive decoys at the last moment they jump to life and give chase for this reason e notes that these duckies contain the souls of liars and this sewer is a realm of forgotten things finally doug navigates a hellish carnival where clown gremlins and their goliath counterparts line up to rip him limb from limb [Music] these clowns in life were trolls and bullies the souls of people who found humor in the misery and torment of others now bound to forever exist as for clowns they really were [Music] doug explores each of the nightmare realms if we are thorough and pay close attention to our mini-map it is possible to discover a number of secret areas by doing so we are fed a few snippets of doug's tragic past getting a basic idea as to why he ended up on such a dangerous crusade in the underworld doug didn't live the most wholesome of life neglecting his family and subjecting others to great misery in his selfish pursuit of pleasure i know all the terrible things you've done so many good intentions laid to waste i could see the regret eating away at your soul doug writes of how his wife suffered from mental illness that caused her to sometimes act rationally it sounds as if doug and his wife had married before he made his fortune as a lawyer and because they had a daughter together doug felt trapped doug's daughter tammy also suffered from mental illness and had been taken for evaluation with a doctor diagnosed her with bipolar doug wanted nothing to do with his family they were no more than a burden in his eyes worried his wife would try to take him for all his money if they separated doug devised a dastardly plan to get rid of them while we are not currently privy to all of the details it is heavily hinted that doug may have tampered with a brake system in his wife's car causing both mother and daughter to end up in a fatal accident but after this tragedy doug didn't find himself quite as happy as he expected he was the subject of great controversy when turning himself into the police after being accused of abuse by a number of women he had mistreated in fact as the years went by and others used him for only his money and fame doug realized he missed the affection of the only two people who ever cared especially his daughter tammy desperate to seek redemption for his sins and turn back the clock on the heinous crime he committed doug sought help in the darkest of places the demon realm itself he made contact with beerus and is now prepared to do anything no matter the cost to save the souls of his family [Music] for now this is the story so far in chapter 4 doug will have to face nurses in a hospital ward killer animatronics in a theme park known as joyjoyland as well as venturing into a network of caves where a mama bear and her bloodthirsty teddies are on the hunt in the meantime please do check out my detailed monster explained video selection
