The Joy Joy Gang Explained (Dark Deception Chapter 4 Monster Lore & Secrets)

hey guys super horror bro mike here and in today's video we return to the world of dark deception to continue our rundown of the monsters found within previously in this monsters explained mini-series we covered for reaper nurses and their torment therapy hospital stage in this video we explore an abandoned amusement park as we look at the law abilities and secrets associated with deadly animatronic trio the joy joy gang so sit back relax and let's get started [Music] the jojo gang appear in the 7th dark deception level mascot mayhem they consist of three murderous animatronics lucky the rabbit hangry the pig and penny the chicken they inhabit amusement park joyjoyland where they search for victims to kill and convert into their animatronic army for joyful what about you are you ready to become one of the joyful joy joyland seems like a fairly unremarkable if run down amusement park at first glance when protagonist doug hauser first steps out of a portal and approaches the giant half-built castle gate fireworks explode above welcoming his arrival but as beer states ugh not very magical looking is it early on we discover a note from a mysterious author e she comments how the joy joy gang attacked her and she narrowly escaped with her life but also makes a very intriguing statement about the nature of the soul contained within each animatronic shell namely that these souls are not human so as the souls of a joy joy gang are not human could it be they contain the spirits of animals once slaughtered by humans these souls now acting on their primal instinct to attack those who threatened them in a previous life each of a gang acts on base animalistic instinct obsessed with capturing and killing prey and in hangry's case obsessed with eating said prey oh are those ribs you look delicious you mind if i put a little barbecue sauce on you while these souls give their animatronic suits feral motivation it seems an artificial intelligence system allows them to talk and interact with those who cross their path e also mentions how these are machines built purely to cause violence and chaos this is interesting as when doug ventures below the surface of the park he finds himself lost in a maze of factory-like environments from a research and development office complex to the construction area at the very bottom of the facility it is here where we discover the joy joy animatronics are being built malik is building an army of these clones presumably to aid in his war against the other demon realms each one running on pure malice with a taste for chaos and destruction the perfect killing machines outside of fueling his war plans it appears malek constructed joyjoyland as a place to sap the joy and remaining happiness from the souls of those unfortunate enough to end up here doug hauser ends up in this place as he once felt his own family was sapping the joy from his life all i know is you two are sucking the joy out of my life sick of it i don't need this garbage every single day now he finds himself in a literal representation of that joy kill the amusement park and these animatronic mascots representing the kind of places and characters his daughter tammy dragged him to visit in life doug was a terrible father and now pays for that by these family-friendly mascots coming to life to murder him at first glance the joy joy gang do seem friendly enough luring their prey into a false sense of safety so they will lower their guard before the hunt begins in this sequence we see lucky and penny singing their joy joy song to doug to celebrate we're going to sing our joy jelly song [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] however this joy joyland has more than killer animatronics to contend with as we explore security cameras alert animatronics to opposition and set off deadly laser beam traps spiked plates jump up to impale us and even the factory production line itself can hit us like a truck with that said it really is the animatronics that are the star of the show here so let's take a quick look at each of them [Music] lucky is a tall yellow animatronic rabbit wearing a lavender bow tie gloves and work boots he at first seems friendly but quickly reveals his true colors a sadistic and murderous persona who is at once both completely insane but also highly calculating speaking in an italian-american accent he acts like some kind of off-kilter mafioso commanding the other members of the joy joy gang to do his bidding they seem to follow his lead at all times lucky is also highly egotistical and frequently champions himself claiming he never loses you know why they call me lucky because i never lose i hear you're pretty lucky too let's see how lucky you are lucky has a number of attacks which can be devastating to the player if not properly managed the most prominent of these abilities has to be his speed boost which makes lucky faster than the player even when boosting themselves if he catches up lucky launches a barrage of punches upon his victim [Music] in zone 1 lucky's clones use balloons to float into the park and surprise attack players from above in addition to this he can also throw out cartoonishly oversized bombs which explode in seconds if we don't manage to get out of their blast radius [Music] next up we have hangry the pig as his t-shirt proclaims this particular pig is a major fan of ribs especially the human variety hi i'm hungry i'm a pig oh ribs are my joy i haven't had a meal in forever he even has his very own brand of homebrew barbecue sauce although something tells me his secret ingredient may not be consumer friendly hangry is also the most powerful of the gang in terms of pure brute strength able to break down walls and doors with ease he often jumps out at the player without any forewarning it's quite startling to say the least that said he isn't very fast and tires himself out if we evade him for long enough stopping to catch his breath before resuming his pursues [Music] finally we have penny the chicken she is hyperactive and overly happy but also very vain and obsessed with her appearance in fact when we damage her facial features penny seems distraught and becomes enraged like never before squishy look what you did to my face you made me ugly who's gonna take photos with me now she refers to the player as squishy presumably because she views doug as a squishy meat sack easily crushable by her animatronic appendages penny also has a love obsession with lucky the rabbit when chasing us about the map penny calls out to lucky in a desperate bid to please him lucky penny is also quite a formidable foe she has a ranged attack in the form of a giant egg which she throws at the player stunning them to the spot she can glide gracefully a few feet above the ground to quickly close in as we try to flee despite being a programmed killing machine penny is by far the most compassionate of the gang she even seems to have a twisted affinity toward the human souls who find themselves at her mercy lucky even comments on this from time to time himself beanie's kinda not so much [Music] the joy joy gang have one final form that makes up the boss encounter in the mascot mayhem stage after electrocuting the jojo gang in zone 2 their suits partially burn away to reveal the creepy endoskeletons beneath eventually doug manages to lure them into the crusher where they are flattened into scrap metal over there hit the button crush them take that however malach has other plans for his animatronic war machines and activates a device which transforms the endo scrap into a giant killing machine known as joy kill salvage mode activated project joy kill is now initiated constructing joy kill unit completed have a joy joy day looking like some kind of nightmarish transformer this enormous mech-like creation is an amalgamation of all three members of a joy joy gang the boss battle takes place across two stages during the first battle we must lure joy kill in front of a large piston and then activate it to push the mech into the molten steel below i'm your worst nightmare buddy you ain't getting now you hear me there's no way after you to do this we must activate four levers found around each corner of the boss arena the problem is these levers take time to turn on and so we must either stun joy kill with our primal fear ability or go for a switch during his laser beam attack as it takes several seconds to finish up joy kill doesn't make things easy for us foe as we run from pillar to pillar it leaps toward us crushing poor dug in a single stomp in addition to the laser beam attack this giant bot also throws stun eggs and fires off singular charges which insta kill the player if they make contact so the key during this boss encounter is to keep moving at all times and then use the stun ability wherever possible look molten steel below it the second phase of the joy kill battle is very similar to the first only this time it takes place inside the control center while there's no fear of falling to our death this time the area is far smaller and more contained making it harder to evade joy kills attacks we must survive for two minutes until the exit finally springs open [Music] nerd is [Music] it seems joy kill is pretty much invincible though as he shows up at the very end of the stage once more and this time there's no escape [Music] okay so we've taken a look at joy joyland the killer animatronics within and how this nightmare portal relates to doug and his story but what about all those other important secrets if we wish to s rank the stage then we need to find all five of them so let's get searching first up we have the e note this is something that adds extra lore to the game but isn't required for obtaining an s rank as it does not count as a stat based secret the e notes can be collected right at the beginning of the stage as we approach the joy joy castle entrance instead of heading to the right and entering zone 1 take a left and hug for wall to find the note at the far side secret file 1 and 2 are located in zone 1. the easiest way to collect them is to finish up the zone so the enemies despawn and then move to the following two areas of a map the first is found here and we must click on the wall to open a secret entrance way inside the bs file can be collected the second is found here and once again located behind a movable wall panel before taking the service elevator down to zone 2 break these boards to the right of the elevator entrance and you'll find secret three in plain view secret four is located directly after electrocuting the joy joy gang at the end of zone two take a right from the breaker box and head down this corridor to find a doorway leading inside a surveillance room and a secret file at its center this room also contains some very revealing story information explaining how doug's family died in a car accident after his wife took the wrong medication and fell asleep at the wheel this a result of doug switching up her pills it also features a neat joy-joy-themed easter egg for posters on the wall call backs to the joy joy-themed rap music that released in 2020 you can find these music videos on the glowstick entertainment youtube channel the fifth and final secret is located in zone 3. this one is a little trickier to unlock it is found here behind the wall panel however to reach it we must lure hangry out from his hiding place behind the wall itself so simply stand next to the wall for a few moments and get ready to stun and run when the mad piggy emerges with the secrets collected it's time to escape joyjoyland and prepare for one final installment in this monsters explained miniseries as we head over to mama bear and her trigger teddies who slumbered deep within the forest cabin of the barely buried stage in the meantime i hope you enjoyed this video and found it both entertaining and informative
