hello everyone and welcome to another video now this is the cheapest RTX 2080 TI I could find after submitting what was admittedly a pretty low offer the seller counted at 230 pounds and after postage costs I ended up paying 245 for this gigabyte turbo Edition most models are listed for well over 300 and you may be able to find newer equally as capable cards for similar money these days but I've wanted a 2080 TI ever since it launched five years ago but I certainly wasn't paying a thousand pounds for one this version wouldn't have been my first choice and still isn't to be honest but sometimes a deal comes along that you just can't say no to and I finally own my dream card at a fraction of its original price it was slightly worrying that the seller wrote may not be suitable for gaming in the listing description in reference to how loud it can be as a fan of blower style cards in general I always found them to be quieter than expected this one though oh boy of course the first thing to do with any new to you GPU purchase is test it before cleaning it up or replacing the thermal paste as I put it to work through my usual Suite of games I thought wow this thing is still an absolute beast in 2023 but it was clear the card had some issues it was common to see 85 86 degrees and of course this meant that the card began to drop the clock speed and ramp the fan right up in an effort to stay cooler basically it was throttling don't get me wrong the performance was still very impressive despite this but after a few seconds the noise became unbearable foreign I can honestly say that this 2080 TI is the loudest graphics card I've ever owned after taking it apart it was cleared to see why the thermal paste was completely dry to the touch which will happen after years of usage at this point this 2080 TI may as well have had sand between the GPU and the heatsink eventually I'll replace the blower cooler either with something aftermarket or with some sort of mod but for now I've simply applied new paste nocturer nth1 to be precise in the hopes that it makes a difference the card is still loud under load louder than any card in my collection this was still going to be the case given its design but its behavior and performance has been transformed the card is hitting around 70 degrees Max and therefore boosting way higher than it was before this means it's also hitting its power limit as it can really stretch its legs as intended when it was fresh out the factory so let's talk about the performance now after the new paste has been applied our first game is Forza Horizon 5 most of the games have been tested at 1440p because the 2080 TI is still more than capable of gaming at this resolution here in falter then with the ultra preset and TAA after the repost we saw 108 FPS with a one percent low of 94 and a 0.1 low of 78. in comparison we see that we have gained at least 10 FPS in terms of their average and the percentolos have been bumped up as well in comparison to using the card with its old paste applied in Marvel Spider-Man remastered with the very high preset TAA on and Ray tracing off after the replay paste we were seeing 120 FPS with a one percent of 77 and a 0.1 low of 64. there are still some drops in those busier areas but this could very well be a CPU limitation now before the paste we were seeing just 105 FPS on average at 1440p which is still a very impressive result as I was saying before but we've gained 15 frames per second simply because the card can now stretch its legs and hit its full potential thanks to the new nocture paste the percentile lows have once again been improved now Starfield is still a bit of a mess I mean it's early days for the game and we had to play it at 1080p here in order to even hit anywhere near 60fps this was with fsr2 enabled and 62 resolution scale that said we still saw a difference between the old thermal paste and the new nocture paste 51 FPS now in comparison to 48 and the percentolos were also slightly improved as well when it comes to this game well I think every little bit helps and it was still an improvement nonetheless this game really doesn't like my Nvidia graphics card collection at all next up we have The Witcher 3 with the next gen patch replied 1440p with the ultra preset hbao plus and SSR set to low taau was also applied and Road tracing was once again off after repasting our cheap 2080 TI we were seeing 113 FPS on average with respectable percentile lows this was 11 frames per second high on average than before where the card was throttling and we were seeing just 102 FPS I say just but again it was still a very impressive result despite the absolutely crusty paste between the GPU and the heatsink itself Hogwarts Legacy tends to be particularly Troublesome on my video graphics card collection anyway but a 1440p with the ultra preset it actually ran very similar to how it did at 1080p but there we go 74 FPS on average the one set of 46 and 0.1 low of 34. again there were still some dips and drops but across the board we saw improvements from when we were running the card in its dried out State cyberpunk 2077 next with the update 2.0 applied 1442 the high priest at high textures and high crowd density 72 was a very nice average with a one set of 53 and a 0.1 percent over 46. we could definitely turn a few things down here in order to bump up that percentile figure but all in all it was a nice experience and we were seeing eight frames more on average than we were beforehand when the card still had the old paste all dried up and stuck around it Red Dead Redemption 2 is our penultimate title now 1440p Ultra textures all else set to high geometry Lord Max grassler 2 out of 10 and medium t a a 89 frames per second was a very decent result and this performed very consistently even in a around those busier areas however in those busier town and City areas it tends to be a more CPU intensive experience the performance was still improved over the old result not as much as it was in other games but still noticeably so here when it comes to Ray tracing I ran cyberpunk 2077 with the RT Ultra preset dlss set to Quality we saw 45 FPS which is okay considering how demanding this game is with the RT presets applied the placenta lows were also fairly decent so there were certainly some consistency here and once again these figures were improved upon over the card with its old paced still attached or should I say encrusted to it not by much not as much as we have seen but it was still an improvement nonetheless and the eBay 2080 TI the cheapest one on eBay at the time of recording well it's certainly done a decent job and still holding up really well in 2023 now the thing with these blower style cards is that they do tend to run warmer anyway so I think it's even more important to ensure that your thermal paste hasn't completely dried out if you buy one of these I wouldn't necessarily recommend a blower 2080 TI because even with new paste applied yeah it still gets really loud but it's certainly an improvement over what we had before I'll definitely be making some sort of fan modification to this or trying to see what other third-party options are available out there if you enjoyed this one though leave a like down below leave a dislike if you didn't subscribe to the channel if you haven't done so already let me know what you think of the 2080 TI and 2023 Down Below in the comments and hopefully I'll see all of you in the next one
